there's actually an official gym leader help thread here; consulting there might get you the best assistance fastest, imo. it might also be helpful if you posted movesets here, since i can't really know if the problem's the pokemon or your moves without them. i would recommend grabbing a numel, though, during a thunderstorm in peridot ward; a pansear in the tunnel between opal and peridot ward (the one with the train tracks passing through); and the growlithe from the jasper ward police station. if you want something other than fire-types, there's an onix you should be able to grab in peridot ward, in a house close by the bombed train station you started the game at. if you're willing to spend the time and money, you can also pick up a trapinch at the onyx game corner (it costs 10,000 coins); it starts out with rock slide, which gets noticeably more powerful if the trapinch also has sheer force as its ability, so reset for that. there's probably other pokemon that could help, but i can't think of any more off the top of my head. my advice beyond that -- remember the field. i personally lit it on fire with flame burst during my second playthrough, which effectively got rid of the benefits she'd have had otherwise from the forest field. plus, type-scaling fire damage to grounded non-fire-types has to hurt to a bug gym leader (although she does have a lot of bug/flying-types, so the assistance might be limited scratch that, the only one she has is her yanmega).
  2. i believe that's Eclipse without her headgear/wings. if you look at the sprites of her with them: especially the side ones, they look very similar.
  3. yeah, you definitely want that litleo. i've heard a lot of good opinions about it. also, later in the storyline, there'll be a helioptile in beryl ward that's sunbathing on a rooftop, emphasis on the sunbathing hint hint. i don't use normal types much though, so that's all i really know.
  4. i actually had the most trouble with M394 73RR4WR because field mechanics. (blizzaaarddd) at least a dozen resets under her belt. and why Ame. why.
  5. well, Ame has been writing a Reborn/Danganronpa crossover that mentions Lin having been in the orphanage before. whether we can actually take this as canon in the Reborn universe is yet to be seen, but it would make sense, seeing as all of the people that have recognized her so far are connected through the orphanage. (i may be wrong though; it's been a while since i played through that part.) as for the issue you've mentioned, she could have been adopted instead years prior, depending on everyone's ages and the timeline. and unlike the other orphans, Dr. Connal might not've had the large motivation to keep her in the orphanage; he has to have regular old orphans sometimes, after all. Lin getting adopted before turning 18 is a real possibility, if the "good doctor" was satisfied with whoever wanted her. (also, the story heavily implies that Lin was a clever, manipulative child. if true, she likely would've curried favor with the doctor, which may have assisted in his willingness to let her go.) and depending somewhat on who exactly adopted her, those years could've caused a significant difference in appearance and personality. given enough time and change, it wouldn't be surprising at all for Dr. Connal to not realize who she used to be. (also: the Dangan Reborn page has sprite artwork of all the characters, including Lin, who looks very different from her sprites in the game, supportive of the idea that she would've changed a lot since before being adopted. again though, there's been nothing as far as i'm aware that's confirmed it as canon either way, so i realize that this is potentially shaky speculation.) on topic, i don't get the feeling that Lin is the current Champion. it's a bit hard to explain, as it's mostly coming from instinct; but besides the fact that if she was, it's likely that she'd be much easier to recognize (for instance, Laura didn't react much, if at all, to Lin being mentioned, and she was Elite Four or very recently so at the time), Lin also doesn't strike me as the type. yes, she clearly puts great value on power, and the Championship is one symbol of that. but the title would also be restrictive; traditionally speaking, Champions would have to stick close to the Pokemon League area or at least be on call at all times in case of challengers or emergencies requiring the Champion's presence. if the Reborn League in-game is similar, all the Championship could mean to Lin would be a cage -- a pretty, prestigious cage, but a cage nonetheless. (one in which she would likely be helping people, especially during that apocalypse ten years beforehand in-game. this is probably not Lin.) in contrast, Lin recently became the leader of Team Meteor by the in-game timeline, a role that arguably entails both more freedom and more power than the Championship does -- if some of the Meteors' comments can be taken as truth -- which the title seems worthless to in comparison. also, a mere Championship, even in Reborn, might seem a very small feat to Lin's large amount of self-confidence. the Championship is a common, almost ordinary aspiration; why should Lin aim for it when she could achieve so much more instead? i won't dismiss the possibility of her being a past Champion though; it could've happened while she was still "insecure" (in a very technical way) about her power and how much of it she possessed. i could see her destroying the league in record time and remaining Champion for maybe a few days at most before abandoning her post. (i could also see her monotyping the entire league with only dragons, considering her hydreigon.) if you dismissed the idea of Lin living in the orphanage, crushing the league but being around for so short a time could also explain why Saphira and Charlotte would find her vaguely familiar; their gyms are very close to the League, if that large map is accurate, and there's also the popular belief that their parents were Elite Four themselves. with Dr. Connal, you might have to stretch a little, but he could've been a gym leader back then of course (he used to be one on the site, right?) and heard of/gotten slaughtered by Lin.
  6. it's a hopping puzzle -- the player character will automatically leap over a block if you press on in a possible direction.
  7. there are the ones Lostelle's stated; i've heard emolga is extremely useful. there's also the electrike in peridot ward during a thunderstorm, helioptile in beryl on a sunny day, and mareep in jasper.
  8. it hasn't been mentioned yet, but you can also find an event joltik in the north aventurine forest after clearing all of the logs and webs. it has to be clear weather however.
  9. okay, there's been a lot of good advice given so i won't repeat very much of what they've said. (warning: i'm a pretty bad competitive battler, but i like to know my stuff.) train up that scraggy. in both of my save files, that guy and its evolution has been one of the biggest helps i've had, even if you don't breed it for things like perfect ivs or d-dance. magnemite and its evos i've never used, but i've heard it's helpful as well. same for vulpix and its evo. (also, personal preference here, but look for a pokemon that uses acrobatics well. i personally like crobat, but archeops probably hits it out of the ballpark in comparison. it's just its ability that's a let-down.) honestly though, the biggest problem i see is that you're not playing to your pokemon's strengths. even if you're not a competitive battler (i'm definitely not), it's always a very good idea to keep tabs on what your pokemon can excel at (serebii, bulbapedia, etc. are good for this) and what resources you have at your disposal. the noivern you've got, for instance, has one physical attack and a low-accuracy, status-inducing move. you're not taking advantage of the fact that noivern has a good sp.att stat and a fine enough movepool to use it; i get that you're probably trying to go for coverage and the "ooh, confusion!" appeal here, but it's honestly a lot better to just switch out to a more capable teammate if your pokemon can't handle it. i'm personally using d-pulse and boomburst on my noivern instead of those two moves, and it's working out fine for me, so i would recommend you go for those. also, the run-down with natures is basically that they boost one stat and lower another. it should be visible on the stat screen as one stat colored blue (the lowered one) and one stat colored red (the boosted one). the ones you mentioned -- jolly, adamant, modest, and timid -- are generally preferred because they raise either the speed stat or one of the attack stats while lowering the other attack stat that won't be used; it's common sense otherwise not to lower a defense stat or speed except in certain circumstances (the latter with trick room teams, for instance). you can search all of this up too; in fact, i would recommend heavily that you do so, and get to know evs and ivs too. (google is your friend.) not being a competitive battler doesn't mean you should ignore opportunities when they're there; you can understand and take advantage of things like natures, evs, ivs, etc. without being a good competitive battler. i do this all the time, so. //ends lecture
  10. you probably just colored your text by accident. recoloring it shouldn't be too hard. as for a screenshot, i don't have one that's particularly funny or anything, but i didn't want to make a separate thread for it. i was just going through agate city on my second save file when i noticed the meteor grunt on the right side of the screen there. i thought it was interesting at first because it virtually confirms meteor's involvement with the city before we even get to the circus, but i thought about it some more and realized that this grunt is awake. granted, it doesn't say much except that whatever pulse they have in agate, they either have it well under control and/or possess something that can negate its soporific effect, but i thought it was interesting anyway.
  11. yes, that is true, and i was aware of it. i was just using it as an example to make what i said more understandable. (and the lie was being presented -- that being the key word; i didn't necessarily imply "believed by everyone".) that was what i was saying. but thanks for pointing it out. uvu edit: and i also noticed that i didn't make the last sentence in that spoiler as clear as i want it. i'll be changing it. uvu
  12. ah, but you seem to have forgotten the hint given for ep.15 -- the one that says that two of Shade's monitors are 'false'.
  13. unfortunately, as of the current episode, that event's the only way whismur is catchable. you can, however, obtain loudred by buying it in 7th street, a place that's accessible after receiving the eighth badge -- Radomus's. edit: got ninja'd. kind of.
  14. definitely train up that swirlix. it's grossly underleveled compared to its partners. also, pick up a trubbish like everyone else is suggesting. you won't regret it. same for arbok -- that thing is incredibly helpful early-game, at least to spinel town (i replaced mine with dragalge there, so i'm not sure how it fares after that). i personally used it for glare + acid spray, but it could kill all by itself perfectly fine too. to put it in perspective, it was one of my major contenders against solaris' garchomp (+ intimidate assist). as for florinia, i would use that arbok i suggested to help out your combusken, and trubbish for toxic spike support (two layers if possible). send out your starter only once the cradily comes out (since i'm guessing that you're starting off with combusken and then it faints before you get to cradily). what are your pokemon's movesets btw? that would be helpful.
  15. i honestly just stick with six and only switch pokemon out once they start lagging behind in performance and/or a better option becomes available, and then the exchange is pretty much permanent. it's a flaw i have that i don't have a lot of patience for long training times (especially since i have no way to speed up my game thanks to using a mac), and frankly, i just don't feel the need to train up any reserve pokemon at the moment -- only regret is therefore not taking advantage of some potential helpers like gyarados, mawile, malamar, etc., but oh well i suppose.
  16. i don't remember very well, but it basically revolved around my scrafty getting in as many hi jump kicks as possible. my replay's getting close, so i'm personally planning on super fang noivern to chip it down, and then hi jump kick scrafty again. either that, or i'll toxic-stall like everyone else has.
  17. my arbok. i honestly didn't think it would be as useful as it has been when i was first plotting out my team for a replay (i've heard stories about how its usefulness goes down as story progresses), but wow. acid spray and glare were unbelievably helpful, especially against solaris's garchomp (after some intimidate build-up). heck, for that matter, my noibat should have a special mention -- i sent it in on a whim, but i got lucky with his garchomp's accuracy issues and got in several super fangs. (of course, the full restores got irritating but it was simple enough to rinse and repeat.) i actually haven't used emolga, Damage (or kricketune for that matter), but since my second (and currently only) replay's a dragon type/egg group mono, i can't exactly use them anyway.

    Ditto?

the location guide tells you everything. but you can find ditto in 7th street, like Gaunt said. it's being sold by a pokemon poacher (don't quote me on this, he might technically be something else) for shards -- i don't remember how much or which kind, but again, location guide will probably tell you.
  19. oh, yes, this is right. specifically the blacksteam factory -- the one that you raid with Amaria. search every nook and cranny carefully, and you'll find a magnet powder. (Dhanush is also right, but you can't get flash until you can also get the corrupted pokeball.)
  20. it's in the spoiler. edit: got ninja'd, lol. but yeah, the location guide will tell you everything as well. check there the next time you need help finding a pokemon.
  21. once you get to beryl ward, you can get swinub, beartic's line, and smoochum from the citrine mountain cave. other than that, nothing else for a while i believe.
  22. i used a focus band starly + endeavor + quick attack (funny story, what actually happened was that first round, garchomp attacked and missed before i used endeavor, so instead of 1 hp it was down to 30-something instead) and then when starly died, i jumped in with my scrafty and hi-jump-kicked it. you can tell this is old by how i have a starly.
  23. yep, they mixed in some of The Other Promise; i freaked out when i first heard the music.
  24. nothing i can say to this new field hasn't already been said and episode 14 //anticipation intensifies (for those who haven't figured it out, the last line says "and with it the player's foray into victory road")
  25. haven't done this in a while. but i think you have to go all the way to the other end of the route (you know that research building?) and then down. there'll be a gate there, and i think you'll meet up with the others there. as for the Electirizer, it's all the way in Calcenon, so it'll take a while for you to get there. sorry.
