How come some get cool pokemon while others don't?
Masquerain replied to SgtNoobly's topic in Reborn City
Personally, I think of those things as "small gifts" for having been a reborn player long enough to be counted as a veteran. As the game is not finished, things have been changing, things are changing and things will continue to change in accordance to overall balance I presume. Older episodes can always be obtained from other players if someone is enough of an enthusiast to want the strongest things in order to tackle the game. -
That event was replaced by trading a growlithe egg for a mystery egg that no longer only hatches into azurill but has like 18 total possible pokemon it can hatch to. iirc ^ The event is at the police station still and if your save exists from an episode older than 15, then your egg will 100% be an Azurill one

I can name a few without thinking too much about it, even though I have more that I like spoiler for long post due to videos V

Amaura. Amaura and Tyrunt are probably the only fossil duo I actually liked well, that and Cranidos, I guess

Once upon a time when there was no gen 6: Julia - around 10 tries (even with marshtomp, the rest of my team was kinda bad against sonicbooms and explosions) Florinia- 3-5tries (kricket powa?) Corey - 5+ tries (the crobat sweep was real back then ) Shelly- 5+ tries but no memory except that she was tough Shade- 5+ tries same as shelly Kiki- 5+ tries , no further memory Aya- too many to count . No memory of how i won Serra- ...........way too many to count. Won by some form of sheer luck Didn't play further Post Gen 6- Around Ep 11: New Playthrough with new team Julia- 2-3 tries, felt the difference with a protean frog Florinia- 2-3 tries, felt the difference with a protean frog Corey- 2-3 tries, same as ^ Shelly- 1 try, having a lion and protean frog helped a bunch Shade- 3-5 tries, nothing special , just not getting 1shot Kiki- 3-5 tries until i realized I needed speed vs her Aya- 2 tries, considerably nerfed Serra- 2-3 tries, considerably nerfed Noel- 6+ tries until I won via a stalling standoff between Luxray @ charge spam vs Clefable, stall and heal until the 'fable struggled and eventually killed itself Radomus- 3-5 tries, no memory of details Luna- 6+ tries until i decided to bring a fairy and finally managed Samson- 3-5 tries due to being underleveled Charlotte- ......a lot of tries, back then I got utterly destroyed by her and won by some sheer luck of not missing my surfs even when the accuracy dropped to the max for the entire field Terra- 1 try. 5 jokes and 1 threat Ep 13-14- New Playthrough, new team again Julia - 2-3 tries again, nothing changed except that her team never used explosions vs mine again Florinia- 1 try, felt nerfed Corey- 2 tries , crippling his crobat with paralysis was enough Shelly - 1 try due to involuntarily combusting the field Shade- 2-3 tries, simply overpowering him worked enough Kiki- 2-3 tries, felt nerfed somehow Aya- 1 try, felt even more nerfed than before Serra- 1 try, felt incredibly nerfed Noel- 2-3 tries, overpowering him was enough Radomus- 2-3 tries, ^ Luna- 2-3 tries - nothing of note here Samson- 3 tries- nothing of note Charlotte- 2 tries :| - didn't even have to dispel her field Terra- 1 try- 5jokes and 1threat. Still. Ep 15- Poison Monotype run Julia- 1 try, toxic spikes did her in Florinia- 5 tries- her ferroseed was nightmarish to my low-lvl poison team Corey- 1 try- his field did him in vs mine Shelly- 1 try- was close but ultimately my team prevailed Shade- 2 tries- took wrong approach the 1st time, 2nd time was quite easy Kiki- over 10 tries - psychic spamming lucario was bad for my team Aya- joke. My poison > her. 'Nuff said Serra- 1 try- joke...sigh (her son made way better use of the field and actually made me pull out my Crobat after getting rekt by his bugs 4 times) Noel- 2 tries- nothing special Dittoceus- 1try, stun spore + smokescreen+acid spray op Radomus- 1 try- wellp, he would have won if trick room didn't fridge him over when he was down to his 'Voir :I sry but even if you run a team of slow mons, using trick room when you're down to your last 3 isnt helping your case <_> esp when 1 of those 3 is a 5 lvls higher Gardevoir Luna- current progress stops here Note: By "tries", I mean proper tries where I got to fight a leader fully and not counting random resets where I had a bad start and just hit F12

Wellp, since we can be a dual type gym, let me try this again My sprite would look like the one in my trainer card, but possibly with some purple here and there instead That said- Dual Type Gym- Poison/Dark . Probably the 8th gym of a game for the purpose of actually using evolved Pokemon Gym would be situated in a dark town where only small amounts of light reach due to the giant forest surrounding it. The building itself would be a big poison ivy-covered mansion. The townsfolk NPCs would speak to you and most of them would comment on the gym leader and/or the mansion in various ways such as telling you rumors about the mansion's history , stories of what happened to people who went in there , comments on the gym leader herself and so on. The gym puzzle- The mansion is dark, the use of Flash provides only a small circle of light. Upon entering the building, your character trips on a poison Ivy vine that's been spreading around the doorway, landing and dropping their pokeballs into a nearby shallow pool of poisonous liquid. Due to the infection, character and their entire pokemon team is forced to progressively receive poison damage as they go through the puzzle, causing one or more of their Pokemon to lose HP+ regular poison damage every few steps (akin to receiving damage after breaking the wrong wall in Serra's gym, but with added poison). The poison can be healed via the use of status-healing items, but damage is dealt to a random 1 or few pokemon for every teleportal you go through. That said^, the puzzle itself would be via teleportals in the dark. There would be 4 trainers in the gym, each one a battle that can't be skipped. Upon being sighted, player is forced to move towards the trainer, thus stepping on a poisoned tile which results in nullifying the effects of having healed your team of poison. The player's team receives poisoned status upon battle entry. The outline from teleportal to teleportal would be akin to scaling a mansion with various obstacles/walls to annoy you in the darkness until you reach a room with 1-3 teleportals. Naturally, some of them would lead to the wrong route or to going in circles, but the presence of a trainer should guide the path to the gym leader. The Gym Leader- as stated, would look like the sprite in my trainer card, but clad in black and dark purple. Personality of a playfully sadistic tease, but ultimately meaning no harm....or does she? Darkness in itself is Poison. A poison present in one's mind. But you...getting this far, you've done well fighting the poison in your mind. Kukuku. Now show me how you fight the poison in your veins! Player vs Dark Mistress Ivy - Umbra Badge- TM Given: Poison Jab Drapion @ Black Sludge/Battle Armor/Careful- Toxic Spikes, Poison Jab, Knock Off, Aqua Tail Honchkrow @ Life Orb/Moxie/Adamant - Brave Bird, Sucker Punch, Roost, Substitute Weavile @ Life Orb/Pressure/Jolly- Icicle Crash, Knock Off, Poison Jab, Ice Shard Gengar@ Black Sludge/Levitate/Timid- Hex, Sludge Wave, Dazzling Gleam, Thunderbolt Sharpedo@ Life Orb/Speed Boost/Naughty - Poison Jab, Crunch, Waterfall, Protect Dragalge @ Black Sludge/Adaptability/Calm- Sludge Wave, Dragon Pulse, Scald, Focus Blast Quote when down to last pokemon- Heh? I might consider giving you the antidote after all. Post battle: You fear no poison of any kind, do you? I suppose I'll give you this then -receive antidote, badge and TM- . Keep on walking forward, let no darkness shroud the strength of your mind... Ah, come play again sometime, Ok? Kukuku... I'm no expert on competitive stuff but oh well, I tried. Also had to fit in the poison jab theme and all that jazz . Wellp, that's about it!

So, Generation 7 (just to chat a bit about what ifs)
Masquerain replied to leocain's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
My hopes for gen7 are that the games will increase in difficulty or at the very least have challenge mode like BW2 :| I'd also like to see them create more unique pokemon (number-wise) while giving some oldies much needed evolutions (no,not megas) . I'd hope to see more unique typings introduced since we still miss quite a few combos. I hope to see a mosquito and dolphin pokemon, another shark, more mammal-based poison types, more poison, fire and ice types in general because they're kind of lacking in comparisson to some others. I'd like to see fairy types that actually look cool (honestly, strictly speaking for gen6 fairies, I only like florges ) Mega Delibird, Mega Masquerain (or give them normal evolutions) Hope to see seasons return as well, I quite enjoyed that feature and the subtle differences it provided in terms of unlocking new areas and such. Possibly, I'd like to see more "features" changing for the other 3 seasons as well, not just winter making way for a new area or few. That said^, I'd like to see more seasonal-pattern pokemon like Deerling Back to story-related things, I hope the plot will continue in the direction BW2 was going. I'd actually quite like the plot to involve various gens' legends and the MC getting involved with some of them enough to get entangled with their natural abilities, i.e. celebi's time travel and whatnot. The time travel in itself could well make for a cool plot-relevant point. I'd love to witness that infamous pokemon war everyone yaps about.. Would be cool if they'd introduce some new weather, specifically- wind, for example. It doesn't have to be battle-weather only or even at all, but some outside of battle winds could affect small things like character movement and such. Undeniably, although it will likely never happen, it would be amazing if gen 7 somehow also introduced field effects of different areas. There are probably more things I hope for and would like to see but atm I'm bad at thinking so I'll leave it at this -
Gen 6 Pokemon Games Think all my Pokemon are Hacked
Masquerain replied to Lord Regal's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
Never hacked, never had such issues so can't really help, but maybe starting another file and using non-transferred pokemon could change something? -
Congrats to you Does a speed hack really make mining of all things any better/faster? I don't imagine that o.o

Spoiler: The first PULSE Tangrowth in Obsidia ward ep 15.
Masquerain replied to sound of silence's topic in Reborn City
Well, that's one reason I guess. Can't deny at least in my monotype run, I was already pretty close to the cap at that point, but that might have had something to do with the fact I was training only 4 pokemon .. P.S. my game also doesn't really lag anywhere except that one passage from obsidia to opal ward -
Because it's a "where do I go now?" topic, I assume. There are different places to ask for quest/pokemon hunt help And all the furniture is around Spinel Town, the buildings in the town and Serra's mansion.

That dood was always cool indeed, but can't say the Ame-comp isn't nice either. So far especially liked the text in the orphanage and Aya's housegym I do think, however, that at some point in the game, the guy's character should make an appearance and reference to his "job" , and possibly battle you

Spoiler: The first PULSE Tangrowth in Obsidia ward ep 15.
Masquerain replied to sound of silence's topic in Reborn City
Was also disappointed to see the park map gone. I think it was quite fitting in regards to the whole "vine outbreak" situation. My biggest disappointment though, was that the Tangrowth PULSE had no forest field anymore. Gotta admit, I never knew that the Obsidia Park has artificially created trees and no real ones, but well, even trees created by a pokemon are in the end "natural" so a forest field would still make sense to me. Was there a reason for the change, though? I mean it was proper before, it was its own map and it looked like a proper crisis-affected overgrown forest-park. I know that park-map has been juggled on and off over the episodes but I never knew the actual reason why Either way, would hope to see it return in the future -
Hayo all. To whom it may concern, sorry that I haven't been updating this but due to various circumstances, I had to do my battles and playthrough in a rather rushed way, thus causing me to not even properly recall how my battles went. But now that things are ok again, I can update my current progress and then start writing out from next Gym battle onwards. That said- - - I can give a summary of the missed battles - Shelly, Shade, Kiki and Aya. I've acquired new friends since then, but ... To put it in the simplest terms- Mao was the hero of most battles, especially against Shelly and Shade. Nothing special happened during those 2 fights, they were both close calls, Shelly battle took 0 resets, Shade took 1 reset because my team got demolished by a Trevenant the first time, causing me to realize I took the wrong approach. The second time around, it was a close fight again, but it went quite well. Now Kiki ... well that took a lot of resets. Namely because she has a Psychic-spamming Lucario. Luckily, that day, the winds were on my side and after many many resets, Mao saved our bums again by snagging a burn on that Lucario, causing Kiki to switch it out and let me take out the rest of her team before the Lucario returned to get finished off by the burn eventually. Aya... sorry Aya, but as it stands, your field worked more in my favor than yours, and you are just generally quite weak. I really think her levels are way too low for that tight 5-level cap raise that exists between Shade and Aya (all things considered , such as Kiki, everything that comes before and after her...) Really nothing to say about this battle, it was close in that she took out 5 of my pokemon but there wasn't really the peril of losing anyway. And now we are here: Current Progress: Location: Spinel Town, Serra's mansion Badges: 5 Current Team: - Lv49, Male, Modest, Adaptability- Play Rough, Aqua Tail, Sludge Wave, Dragon Pulse (Reido)- Lv47, Male, Naive, Technician- Giga Drain, Grasswhistle, Nature Power, Stun Spore (Mao)- Lv46, Male, Timid, Stench- Smokescreen, Flamethrower, Night Slash, Acid Spray (Zero)- Lv45, Male, Adamant, Sniper- Toxic Spikes, Night Slash, Bug Bite, Venoshock (Pendora)- Lv39(In training), Female, Hasty, Speed Boost- Strength, Protect, Steamroller, Poison Tail (Kirie)- Lv44(In training), Female, Gentle, Inner Focus- Acrobatics, Swift, Venoshock, Poison Fang In Rotation: (Niro) -Lv47, Male, Adamant, Poison Point- Poison Jab, Earth Power, Shadow Claw, Toxic Spikes (Dokuro)- Lv46, Male, Lonely, Dry Skin- Sucker Punch, Mud Bomb, Drain Punch, Venoshock Needless to say, I'll be doing some more training before facing Serra, but the next update will be about the battle vs Bennett and Serra.

Difference between the same pokemon that is shiny and not
Masquerain replied to noobmc's topic in Reborn City
Only difference is visual satisfaction of having a pokemon with a possibly way cooler color than its natural one -
I see myself listed under episode 9 even though I said I was here when the game had only 7 :I Though I only joined the forums in july 2013,lurked until 2015

I am from when le game had only 7 eps but lurked here until this year

There WAS hype before the big nerf on her...and everything along the way TO her gym..
-
Just want to add to all this ^ that as a person who never dispels fields, I can't agree they're close to their former difficulty. (Also due to the bad AI, you'd have to purposely spam non-dmging moves to let them make use of their fields... and some still dont :| ) But anyway, that list is making things look better already, keep at it
-
I wholeheartedly agree that good AI and a few tweaks to some leaders' teams would solve many things. Examples... Julia is fine enough for being the first gym. Still AI applies to her as well ... Florinia could maybe run a sunny day on her team? Or use a prankster cottonee instead of having 2 cacti Corey has been a joke for a long time :| Shelly would be fine with better AI Shade's doublade is useless as stated previous. Better AI here too Kiki and Aya, I'm gonna comment further on them when I face them again, but Kiki would be fine with better AI, and I do remember Aya wasn't even remotely the threat she used to be so she ofc needs better AI as well Serra really needs enough AI and movesets to make use of her field and not just spam signal beam/mirror shot against fire types :| ..why? because she has nothing better to spam (and I stand by what I said, it's a disgrace that her own son seemed like more of a challenge than her) Noel would be fine with better AI (really, his clefable spamming moonblast 10 times in a row on a NVE target...) Radomus needs to be a single battle + better AI Luna...breaks her own field. .. I mean really.. I get earthquake is a powerful move and stuff, but her field is a big part of the reason she can even remotely be a threat, and yet her Assault Vest / Dragon Dancing (lolwut) Ttar has EQ which can break the field. I think she needs AI and some team/moveset tweaks Charlotte didn't need the lvl nerfs imo... neither did Samson . Even so, better AI would do them good Terra has always been an underwhelming gym for her place in the game, but hey, better AI would be good
-
I support the opinion on the unnecessary nerfs, especially Luna and Radomus :| . Actually Samson as well and most of all, Serra. Poor Serra, I swear someone out there has a horrible grudge against her for that time in the past when she was the most OP thing.. Been watching my friend during his playthrough, he tackled all those gyms with pokemon 10levels below the leaders, and they still didn't really pose a considerable threat... Now, I'm sure that has to mean something... Also idk if anyone there tests gym battles before a release, but if not, then they probably should.. Try test-fighting a leader with various teams like ones considered "OP", an avg team or a hard-mode team. See the outcome, decide what to change and so on. Commander, while your run sounds cool and interesting. . I honestly think we have an issue here if one has to resort to so many self-restrictions (much like in the main pokemon games..) in order for the game to not feel so easy
