    You know after playing Trails of the Sky, I'd say the story is better than Cold Steel's, not because Cold Steel's is bad (it's better than Xenoblade's...both of them), but because Skies FC is that freaking good.

      I have decided to leave the franchise on hold for now. In order to fully understand the overreaching plot, I think the only way is to play ALL the games in the franchise one after the other, and only in september-october-november I have that kind of time.

      There's quite a bit that goes on in the world, but nothing is really required. Very few games, if any at all quite go to this scale of world building. It's really cool how you get multiple perspectives and history from all countries when you play any of the games, but the main focus of the game is that country.
