Ymora Academy Chapter 1: Bonds [IC]

En route to the Male Dorms, Johnny heard a voice nearby introducing itself as Hiro, so he and Ignizelka slowed down a little so that Hiro could catch up.

Why not? I might as well have a conversation to pass the time as we go to the Boys' Dorm. The others in the Academy seem to be nice...

Once Hiro was walking alongside Johnny, He introduced himself and Ignizelka to Hiro in a friendly tone.

"Nice to meet you, Hiro. My name's Jonathan Carbocas, but you can call me Johnny. My friendly little fire type here is named Ignizelka."

Ignizelka gave a small, excited yip in greeting. Johnny then continued speaking, his voice becoming a lot more serious.

"So, before you went to the Contest Hall to be at the speech, were you at the Boys Dorm? I was."

"N-nice to meet you." She spoke in response to the boy who claimed to be not so traditional, though she did not know what that meant. "I'm Mie Tachibana and this is Kagari." Kagari seemed to continue to keep her head tilted as she turned to look at the boy and his Ralts.

"Umm…I guess the presentation was alright…Though there is a lot to process…What about you? You found it boring?"

"I'm not really big on slideshows and all that. I guess it was alright though, not the worst thing I've ever sat through." Kage leaned back in his seat and folded his arms behind his head. "Also not really a fan of having everything handled by this glorified smartphone," he grumped as one arm came back down to pull the Pokedex out of his pocket and wave it around dismissively. "I mean, is there something wrong with cash?" Letting it drop without allowing his conversational partner to answer the first question, he continued. "So, Mie, what program are you here for?"

"Oh really, you're staying at the boy's dorm as well? good for you..you must know where your room is by now" Toshiro said in a polite way with a wide smile before answering the question.

"Well actually I was there for a brief moment, right before I went straight towards contest hall, I went searching for room 118 and heard some strange noises coming out of the dorm's corridor as well. It must be those cool crazy kids throwing a party or something. Anyways, the announcement came and I never really got the chance to enter my room and drop my things. you can tell I still have my backpack with me." Toshiro chuckled as he continues to walk with Johhny.

"So why'd you ask?" Toshiro asked Johnny as he raise a brow in curiosity.

As the speech finally ended Robert got up, a smile wide on his face in excitement with Kiai giving a matching smile. The idea that this was not only their first day here, but with all the things to come with their apparent new partner to come just tomorrow, it just got them pumped. The Riolu himself expressed his excitement with some jabs to the air, keeping them close to avoid anything bad events.

As Robert began to head out with Riolu his mind trailed to all that had already happened today. The first person he met here... Ended up running off because of something wrong Robert had said. He met others, but that was because of the dorms apparently having ghosts. He sighed and shrugged, talking to himself as he started to continue on out. "Well... Let's just hope things get better. It's the first day after all."

The speech was over. Good. That meant no more smart asses would hold anything up. Which in turn... meant she could leave. Maya got up from her seat just as the other students around her started recovering enough from the shock of the presentation. A few of them still muttered to each other apprehensively about the scarring and battle torn field.

"Dude, did you see that?"

"Yeah man, I heard dragons could be dangerous... but damn..."

"Bird jesus... I'm surprised they didn't end up dead..."

"Ya know, I'm having second thoughts about raising a goodra now..."

"Is anyone else wondering just what the state does with pokemon confiscated from trainers?"

"What, you afraid they do something crazy like euthanize em as if they're dogs or something?"

"...maybe."

"Yeah, right... you're just mental man. they'd never."

"God, it took the professor long enough... I think my ass legit fell asleep on this god awful cushion..."

"Yo, is anyone else hungry? When the hell do they serve lunch or whatever around here?"

"Eh, uh... did anyone else feel a surge of satisfaction when they heard the part about one being in a comma for months and the other guy being put in a wheel chair?"

"I'm pretty sure no one but you gave a damn, Brian. I'm fucking hungry, I just wanna eat yo!"

"Hey, be nice to Brian!"

"I'll be nice if he shuts it and just gives me some damn food!"

"I think I got a poptart left over from this morning..."

"Poptart? what flavor?"

"Smores."

"EH, Brian, bro! what is up, my man?"

"Just hurry up and take the stupid poptart, mike. I don't like them that much anyway..."

She had heard enough. Far more than enough. Enough of their pointless back and forth to begin to feel brain cells dying- she was quite certain these ones here were going to be among the bottom of the class; it was amazing how any of them even got accepted here. Without a single word of interaction to any of them, she rose to full height and stuck her hands into the pockets of her hoodie before turning out of the aisle and heading for the doors. First Folie attacking her in order to break out of the room and cause trouble, and then the peanut gallery back there who wouldn't shut up... throughout the whole thing, they'd been almost as bad as the guy with the cottonee who kept interrupting.

Right now all Maya wanted was to get back to the dorms and actually unpack. As she headed down the central aisles towards the rest of the crowd though, she had no notice of something dropping out of her hoodie, nor how it landed right beside the foot of a girl with red hair and a hyper chimchar for a partner as she strode by...

At least, not until a few paces later, that was. She stopped where she was, feeling around the empty space of the pocket before scanning the ground around her...

"Where the hell did it go?" She muttered, though it was loud enough for Samantha to hear, along with the annoyed, slightly dejected sigh that followed "God... don't tell me I somehow left it back there with the damn peanut gallery and future failures..."

Meanwhile, the lock screen of her pokedex flashed bright from it's place near Sam's foot, the picture from Maya's student ID and her full name scrawling across lazily on it's face, apparently asking for some type of pin or pass-code or... something.

Johnny simply replied to Hiro's question.

"There's a Ghost of some sort in the Dorms. It was probably the reason why you heard those noises, because there was no party. We were all too busy hiding from the Ghost, which explains why I still have my Backpack. The reason we were hiding is because the Ghost was a bit malevolent this time."

"U-umm, I'm in the trainer program." Mie spoke quickly before taking a long pause. She could tell that her awkwardness was beginning to show. "I-I guess you're in the breeding program? At least…based on question you were asking about based on raising Pokemon from eggs?"

"A ghost you say? Oh dear, that sounds terrible," Toshiro said with a little bit of emotion to Johnny. it's hard to discern whether he's being genuine from the way he said it or just did a Mark Wahlberg impression from the happening. Either way, this was still news to him. Funny how this ghost never got to Toshiro from the moment he step foot in boy's dormitory. This ghost must like it's audience huge and a single boy from Fuschia city will not suffice its desire for attention.

"My guess is it's trying to protect something inside our dorms, like the chamber of secrets or something, that's why it's trying to scare you guys away, that's what usually ghost do or that's what the tales in my books said about them." Toshiro scratch his head trying to figure out what's the motive of this so-called 'ghost'.

"Either way, this 'ghost' news doesn't bother me, I've watched enough scooby doo to know where this is going. this is rather a mystery case than a ghost story."

"So are you guys sleeping outside for the rest of whole school year or are you coming inside to the boy dorm rooms?" Toshiro jokingly said to Johnny.

"To be honest... I haven't thought about that." Lucas responded, looking slightly embarassed while doing so. "I guess I'll just come with you then."

He listened to the entire introduction rather carefully: the pictures of the Dragon-type Pokemon, which did make Lucas think, the Battle Point System that was implemented were all noteworthy, but getting a second Pokemon likely right off the bat was the most interesting thing that the trainer had got to know with that meeting.

What species of Pokemon could he get... Now that was a good question. Hopefully the trainer could have enough time to think about it.

Although Lucas only asked one question, pretty much all of his other doubts were cleared thanks to the questions of other students. Speaking of other students, thanks to this introduction Lucas was able to, at least, see the faces of many other future trainers, coordinators and breeders that came to the Academy, including some people that he'd already met.

While he was thinking about what he'd just heard, Lucas left the building alongside Sim, heading to the male dorms once again, as the other trainer wanted.

With the presentation done and sorted Claude stood up, stretching his legs to satisfy his desire to move after sitting still for that long.

Now what to do? The coordinator thought to himself. They had been given free reign but Claude was actually quite bad at entertaining himself. He thought it was terrible practice to do something because he simply needed to do something.

He briefly considered finding the girl he had spoke to before at the girls dorms, she had seemed interesting. However with the crowd of students moving here and there he couldn't catch the sight of her. So how to find her? Get above the crowd! Claude's ees roved above the crowd only for a second before finding the person he was looking for, the incredibly tall girl who had been at the dorms as well. Claude made his way through the gaggles of flocking students to get to her.

"Hello, mind if I use your height for a second?" He asked Emberly, plastering his most persuasive and friendly smile on his face.

Samantha was bouncing all over the place, excited about the thought of getting a new Pokémon. She knew exactly which one she wanted. Now it was just a matter of being fast enough. The red head didn't even notice the Pokédex at her feet, but luckily for Maya, her Chimchar did. The little monkey jumped from her shoulder and started to fiddle around with the device at the same time Samantha heard Maya's annoyance.

Peanut galary? I prefer normal peanuts though! What about you, Louis?” she asked when she saw the device in the monkey's little paws. “Is that mine? Did you steal it already!?” Samantha said loud enough for everyone nearby to hear. The young fire specialist searched all her pockets and felt relieved when she found her Pokédex. “Nope. Where did you get that Pokédex? I hope you at least had the decency to steal from some hot and dreamy guy.”

Outside

Yo, dubbel digits, wait up!” a small blond boy yelled.

I told you to stop calling me that!” Matt said agressively, completely ignoring his roommate.

What's with the cold shoulder? I thought we were friends! We trained together for years you know?”

Fuck off.”

Rude.”

Stop pretending like we're friends. We never got along! I don't know why they appointed you out of all people for this important mission...” Matt grumbled.

Ah, because they needed some brains to stop the Musclehead from screwing things up!” the blond said.

Matt's teeth made a screeching noise. Day fucking one and his 'partner' already pissed him off. At this rate he would either lose his mind or punch the kid in the face before the week was over.

"No reply? Skitty got your tongue?”

I told you to fuck off. Don't speak to me unless it's about the mission.”

You really need to watch your language, young man! Professor Redwood and professor Cadmus won't like it!” the blond boy said with a high pitched voice, trying to imitate a mother scolding her child.

Don't threat me like a little kid! I swear I'll punch you through the wall!” Matt's face turned red from anger. “And don't think I'm scared of you! I know the real you and I can take you on! I ranked higher overall during our period as recruits!”

Yeah yeah, you're amazing for reaching Number 11. I wonder what little old me, who only reached 17, would ever do.” The sarcastic undertone from the boy drove Matt over the edge and he knew it. Not that he cared. The two of them never managed to see eye to eye. And bullying a bully was always great relief against boredom.

Matt turned around and turned his hands into fists. “I know what you've done. Don't think that innocent act of yours will protect you forever!”

The blond only raised an eyebrow and watched Matt leave. “I never hid my actions. They all deserved it,” he mumbled before turning around and going the opposite way.

"I'm not sure what you mean by that." Emberly said raising an eyebrow at the kid. She didn't expect him to have bad intentions though. His smile was rather enchanting, it made her more or less believe he had good intentions. She wondered if that meant it was totally the opposite if it was something false pretending to be something else, but she figured she was just being paranoid. Whisper whimpered a little in her arms her chocolate eyes popping over Drake's arm before popping back down upon seeing Claude.

"Just what you want me to do?" she said giggling "Hopefully it's not picking you up because little Whisper here won't like that much. I also rather she not light you on fire."

“Peanut galery? I prefer normal peanuts though! What about you, Louis?”

Maya turned her head at the unexpected response from behind... and there she spotted it. Right in the monkey's paws. Well, at least is saved her the trouble of spending the next hour or so retracing her steps looking for it. The girl though... something seemed a bit...off. Just a little, or maybe alot.

“Is that mine? Did you steal it already!?Nope. Where did you get that Pokédex? I hope you at least had the decency to steal from some hot and dreamy guy.”

Oh, bird jesus christ... she's just like them. I... I don't really need a pokedex, do I? She knew the answer before she ever made the thought. Yes. Yes, she did need one. With a sigh she started walking over to the hyper trainer. This conversation she was gonna have to get into... was probably gonna to grind her nerves down to nothing. She could tell already. As they say though; no time like the present.

"That Dex your chimchar is holding is mine, actually. And sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not exactly a 'hot and dreamy guy'."

Claude didn't let the smile waver. In fact he chuckled a little, how could something so adorable do that?

"No need to lift me up like in the Pyroar king, I'm just having a hard time finding someone. It's kinda hard to see over the crowd" Claude waved his arms up and down his body, emphasising his unfortunately diminutive stature "and my partner in crime seems to have found his way elsewhere." Claude paused and began tapping his foot on the floor and his fingertip on his forehead in a quick repetition, twice, then three time in quick succession. What did she look like? And what did she say her name was?

"Ok, I think she said her name was Citrine? Blond hair, blue eyes, kinda baggy green shirt. Has a skitty that'd be right at home on one of those cat videos on youtube. Can you help me out?"

"Well, I'm gifted in things vertical so crowds aren't an issue for me. I'm sure you'll be able to keep sight of me. Preeeeeeeety sure." She laughed as she pet the little dog in her arms. She was worried about Whisper since she had her out so long today and around so many people. The poor thing was was shaking so heavily. In fact, Claude probably could see her visibly shaking from where he was standing. She pet Whisper behind her ears, her favourite spot.

"I don't personally know this girl but I'm sure we'll find her... probably. Not to be rude, but sounds pretty generic at least appearance wise. The Skitty might be easier to spot, since they are bright pink. Not sure, anyway we'll find her. Soooooooooooooo... why you looking for her? You like her or something?" Drake said with a smirk on her face. She actually was intersted to know why, but thought she'd have a little fun while she was asking.

Claude waved away Emberly's suggestion lightly. Claude had seen how nervous the growlithe was feeling, so he had decided maybe sudden movements were a bad idea.

"I like her as much as you can like a stranger. As much as I like you or Redwood. Nah, I just spoke with her a while ago and she seemed interesting. That's all I really need to talk to someone. That, and enlisting someone's benevolent assistance." Claude flashed the same grin as from before at Emberly

"Ah, but I've been terribly rude haven't I? I'm Claude Arliest, top Coordinator of the academy. Nice to meet you..." Claude traiiled off slowly, letting Emberly fill in the blank.

"Well nice to meet you Claude. Emberly Everburn, But, you can call me Drake. Don't ask, it's a long story." She said turning on her heel. She looked around though she had yet to actually start moving. "I'd shake your hand but I don't want to startle Whisper. She's... not the best with people that aren't me. She's kind of a bit nervous right now, but I want her to get used to the large number of people. She going to have to at some point." she continued to stroke the pup's ear. Whisper, didn't really calm down much. She stayed about as nervous as previous. Her face was still buried in Drake's elbow. Claude would only see the top of her head and her shoulders really, a flash of orange against the shirt Drake was wearing.

"And I I'm happy to be of service. Most people don't really talk to me. Apparently being tall is scary. Never really understood that. People are weird. Maybe that's why Whisper doesn't like them much. Well, shall we get going and look for this... acquaintance of yours? I just hope we haven't missed her yet. That wouldn't be too fun."

Claude peered once more at the small puppy in Drakes arms. It's a good thing the subject of her nerves had been brought up. Claude could keep a check on any more boisterous actions whilst around the pair.

"Hmmm, I don't think It's a priority anymore. I found someone as interesting." Claude quickly moved on from the remark before anything could be made of it. "So, if Whisper here isn't a people pokemon, I'm guessing you're either not a coordinator at all or one of the coordinators who chose the program to get over the nerves. Yae or nae?"

"Yep. Flew from Mossdeep to come here for it and everything." He ignored the girl's conversational stumbling; it was almost endearing, in a way. "Kind of glad to be away from my folks, to be totally honest. They're nice and all, but a little too nice, if you know what I mean." Kage gestured somewhat lazily as he spoke, seeming to contrast with his lively tone of voice. "Hey, it's kind of stuffy in here, though, we should talk outside." It wasn't, really, but Kage always had a difficult time just sitting still.

"I'm a Trainer, and Whisper and I will one day be the most powerful trainers this world has ever seen. A silly dream maybe, but, one from a silly girl and her pup." Drake said, a warm smile on her face. She figured he asked due to announcing he was a coordinator earlier... or did he? Drake wasn't really paying entire attention to the introduction since she was worried about Whisper, but she figured that he probably said that. She recalled it at least... so it probably came from that source. "Whisper's pretty nervous around people, and even in battle at times. but I know she'll be great."

The Growlithe's small size was so easily seen in Drake's arms. It was much smaller than your average Growlithe for sure. The super big giant girl, and her tiny little hound. It was an interesting sight, the difference in their size. "Not that there's anything wrong with Coordination, I just prefer the heat of battle. What can I say, I like to crack a skull or two." she said with a strange light in her face, a faint... and slightly terrifying smile. The fact it only eeked out for a second.... made it that much more creepy.

"I-I guess that would be alright." Mie said in response to Kage's request. Though she did find it hard to keep up with the boy's pace. She picked up Kagari and allowed it to rest on her shoulder as she stood up and said, "After you." She didn't want to move in front of him and lose him. After all, someone was going out of his way to even talk to her. There was no way that she would risk anything.

Claude stared at Drake with his eye quirked quizzically, stopping in his tracks. "You do realise you looked like a serial killer for a moment there, don't you? At least, that's the kinda face I imagine a serial killer would have. Normal most of the time, then boom! One moment of creepy." He was particularly unnerved by the smile because of the possibility Drake actually was loco and he wouldn't have noticed without the smile.

"You're just looking into things too hard. People do that a lot apparently. I just have fun with my fighting and it makes me smile like a goof. Nothing weird about that. Only weird thing would be thinking enjoyment is weird. I enjoy the heat of the moment the exchange between two trainers. Not afraid to rough them up a bit." She stopped there for a second, not really thinking Claude was serious. She thought it was some kind of joke. Like really? Who'd say such a thing. But in case she quickly added "Besides you think something as afraid of people as Whisper could ever want to be around a person like that? Come on! They'd be terrible to everyone. Not just people, Pokemon too. And I'm the only person Whisper trusts in this whole world."

"Besides, you love the competition between coordinators don't you? That's exactly the same thing, the rivalry between them just put out in a different way. I'm sure even the Breeders enjoy competing with each other... In what I don't know, but I bet they do! So stop being silly. After all, just thinking about it gets me excited. I really want to meet other trainers and get to battle them, but I'm sure you want to met other coordinators as well for much a similar reason."

Whatever it was he saw, it was completely gone... to the point Claude would've wondered if it even really happened. Drake herself didn't even know what he meant. Clearly it wasn't something that was actually anything, just a flash of strange emotion. More Drake remembering why she decided to do this in the first place. She wanted to be taken seriously. That people wouldn't treat her different or like she couldn't amount to anything just cause she was a bit different. It was the same of Whisper, people thought the little pup was useless just because she was small. Drake wanted to prove that was wrong. She never wasn't her normal self in that exchange, it was just the flash of something she had yet to tell the one talking to her that he didn't really understand. But as soon as it happened it wasn't really an issue. It's like it never even happened, some would say it never actually did and it was probably just a twitch or something that Claude saw that wasn't there. Either way, the Tall girl was that beaming ball of positivitiy again. She beamed a smile as she giggled at the situation. It wasn't like many before him had misunderstood who she was. It was on them though, not her. So she wasn't bothered by it.

Claude scratched his head absently. Not too strange I guess. Maybe she just has a real weird smile. Easily as that, Claude dismissed the notion and focused on something else Drake mentioned.

"I guess I understand some of that, though there's one thing you got wrong. I don't like the competition between coordinators, I love having the spotlight for Doux and I. The rush of nerves and fear and joy when you get up in front of a crowd is like the drop of a roller coaster, except it lasts all through your performance. It's intoxicating." Claude found himself gushing easily. Memories of his first time showing off what Doux could do to the few townspeople, the applause from the crowd when he acted on the stage of his old school play. The sense of having a crowds attention locked onto him was genuinely one of the best feelings he had ever experienced. He loved it. He wanted more.
