I noticed some statuses on the topic and figured there were plenty of AP students on the forum, so I figured I'd open a help/discussion thread. I'm currently enrolled in Physics, Microeconomics, Literature & Composition, Calculus, and Chemistry.

Hell, Murdoc. That's quite a lot. I've only got one AP class in Calculus. AP's not really my thing.

I took dual credit, got some college hours and got all the basics out of the way. I was also in AP calculus.

AP are Advance Placement classes that allows high school students the ability to earn some college hours via tests, assuming you make the score and your college accepts it. Some colleges don't accept it, like A&M in Texas, regardless of scores.

This pretty much sums it up. AP = Advanced Placement, a Collegeboard affiliate that is in charge of offering students in the United States (and other countries) "advanced" courses that if passed, accompanied by a standardized test score that is also passable, may offer the student COLLEGE credit as well as high school credit, depending on the discretion of the university of choice. The more credit you get by doing as well as you can, the more money people save on college, because you don't have to sign up for as many classes.

You can say that again, "oh you got a 5 on the AP calc test, well too bad for you, your calculus is wrong because it ain't A&M calculus looks like you will have to take it again." So yeah if you do take AP, make sure the college you want to go to accepts it, otherwise you are wasting your time and money. Unless you like the challenge of AP, which it is much better than dealing with regular classes.

Fuck. It was a mistake on my part to take three AP classes. My APUSH teacher gives me as much homework as the other three combined. But if you ever want math or science help, I think I can do something for ya. I'm taking IB HL1 which is AP Calc A/B and AP Stats in one course, AP Chem and APUSH.

Plus I take honors english which is more of a hell than my AP classes.

When I was in high school, I took AP calc A and B. Never took any placement exams for the sole fact that I wanted a GPA booster in college. Plus, its good to have things refreshed in your mind. I'm an engineering student in college and I have been required to take so many math classes (all of which are calculus based) that I was only 3 credits shy of a math minor. Why not right?

Also, my high school didn't offer this as an AP credit, but I took 4 semesters of spanish and drafting, which I felt the last one should have been AP... oh well.

I remember my first AP course in high school. I didn't understand it but took AP English literature and composition my senior year. I did better but I wouldn't rely on me for help in literature and composition.........based on my score.

I'm in AP English Language and Comp. right now. Took AP world history last year.

I could probably do even more AP classes if I actually wanted to put up the effort.

Eh, last year I was in AP HumG (Advanced Placement Human Geography) last year. This year I'm in WHAP (World History Advanced Placement) and its much better thankfully.

I recommend taking AP classes regardless of whether your college accepts them; they look good on your transcript.
