What is the meaning of life?

There is no meaning. This isn't to be depressing, it's just a silly question. I may as well ask what is the meaning of golf, or what is the actualization of singing, or what is the coefficient of cheese. Asking "What is the meaning of life," is problematic because although those words fit well together in the form of the English language, the question does not make actual sense. There are a good many better questions to be asked, such as, "how ought one live life?" or "for what purpose did life come into existence" which could be possible interpretations of our original question. Those could perhaps be answered, but this in itself is a silly generalised inquiry that has been popularised to be some deep and unanswerable question when in truth it is little more than a convenient sham of phonemes.

How do you interpret the meaning of the song 'Half of My Heart' by John Mayer?

Trying very hard to not launch into a full literary critique of the song... it is apparently the expression of a person's inability to continue their expression of love in their relationship, and further, their resolution of accepting that. This is fairly concretely supported via the explicit statements such as "I can't keep lovin' you." Of course, this is later juxtaposed against the similar line, "I can't stop loving you," which illustrates the dichotomy of his two halves and their direct opposition to each other. In spite of this, the musical tone behind the words remains fairly constant through out the piece, suggesting that the speaker is in fact not at all ambivalent, but rather that he has already reached a conclusion. That conclusion is actually subtlely implied early in the song in the line, "Half of my heart's got a right mind to tell you that I can't keep lovin' you, oh, with half of my heart." To paraphrase, the speaker says that half of his proverbial heart cannot continue loving 'you'. While this is glossed over in the context of the song as simply restating the misgivings of this half of his heart that is 'a man who's never truly loved anything', it actually reaches into the other half as well. If half, or 50% of the speaker cannot love 'you', then there must be at least 50% that does not love 'you'. This also means that the amount that does love must be less than 50% and therefore the inability to love is not actually strictly limited to that one full non-loving side of his heart. This supports the consistent tone of the music, which together suggest that the speaker has already resolved to accept this 51+% percent of himself that does not love 'you' inspite of the 49-or-less% that does.

Sometimes, but usually when I'm trying to imagine what it would be like to be blind. I'll close my eyes and try walking in a straight line, but I want so badly to open them, so I say, okay, in 100 steps I can open. I have yet to make it that far.

Duh. In fact pink used to be a traditionally masculine colour. Consider that red is commonly a symbol of power and strength. Pink garments were just faded red ones, and would often be passed down to the sons and young males of families from their fathers. It was symbolic of their inherited power.

Like, Avatar and such. Anime. Ponies. Yeah.

I know I have a better answer to this somewhere, but... Of what I've seen and can recall, Finding Nemo. This is probably due to the fact that I have seen it in five different languages, and not English.

If I have yet to bury it, isn't the treasure itself not yet hidden? That is, if I had it, it wouldn't be hidden.

94. Who was your HS crush?

A girl I knew from first grade. Back then, I would always help her in math, and we became pretty good friends, well, you know, for six year olds. The next year I transferred schools, and we didn't see each other again until middle school when I passed her in the hallway of a state competition for a club that I was in. She and I didn't say a word; we just saw each other and remembered despite it having been years. When high school started, she had grown her hair out. I didn't recognise her then, but like four months into the semester we finally figured out who each other were and became fast friends again. I think she wanted me to ask her to the homecoming, but I didn't. Instead, I asked her out in the second semester. At that time, she declined.

After that I became extremely withdrawn. I stopped hanging out with her and with our friends, I completely dropped my status as one of the popular kids, and just kept to myself. She and I spoke on and off for the next couple years, but not really again until we were both cast in our school's musical, Sweeney Todd. Even during that time though, I still had dreams about her, maybe just one every few months, but they hurt nonetheless. Anyway, come time to the musical, she was excited to be working with me, and while we did become close again over the course of the production, thanks to something that had happened that winter, I was kind of emotionally dead. I couldn't really return the excitement, much to her dismay.

Over the summer I joined a band with her, and we started hanging out a bit more, to the point that she would often just drive over here in the middle of the night, sneak in through the window and then we'd watch movies until the sun came up. Then part way through senior year she returned the bracelet I had given her, and told me that we couldn't be friends anymore. I asked her why. She told me it was because she liked me, and she knew I didn't like her back. That wasn't entirely true though- I did like her. It hurt me a lot when I declined to be with her, and afterwards the dreams fired up with renewed strength. Sleep became difficult for a few weeks. But I never told her that. I declined to be with her, even though I wanted to, because I believed she didn't really like me. She was having some emotional drama at the time, and I wrote it off as that. I desperately hoped that, after she'd settled down a bit, she might still have some feelings, but instead, she began dating a boy who's name I never found out, but who apparently worked as a stripper. After that, she changed, a lot. We haven't spoken so much since, and the band long since played its final show, but I still have dreams, if rarely.

What made you create your blog?

I found an old journal file from high school on my computer, and was kind of enjoying looking back at what I thought back then. It also kind of hurts. But I couldn't keep up with a journal just myself so I figured I'd make it somewhat public and maybe other people's responses would give me motivation.
