Since the old Rejuvenation Viability Rankings thread kinda died, we'll remake it! REMEMBER TO LOOK AT THE RULES!

Definitions Of Each Rank:
S Rank: These Pokemon are extremely useful in every or most battles and rarely find themselves outclassed. They almost always have a lot to contribute during the tougher battles. These Pokemon are incredible.
A Rank: These Pokemon are very good in most battles, but may struggle a bit with a few others. Nevertheless, they are still capable of holding their own in these. These Pokemon are great.
B Rank: These Pokemon are above average and help in a lot of battles, but there are times when they find themselves unable to do much in a few parts of the game. These Pokemon are above average.
C Rank: These Pokemon may help in certain battles, but fail at doing much in others, or they may be only useful for the beginning of the game. These Pokemon are average.
D Rank: These Pokemon have poor strength. They have little niche in the game and should not be used unless you seriously have no options left. These Pokemon are below average, but they may have some strange use, such as being able to use many HMs.
E Rank: These Pokemon should never be used.

Information For Contributors:
If you want something ranked, you must include:
- What rank you are nominating it for, preferably at the beginning of your post.
- What useful moves it can learn (italicize Shadow moves) or useful Abilities it can have (nothing illegal), and it would be nice to note which are used by breeding. Items are unnecessary, but if you'd like to name one for a specific reason, go for it.
- When it is obtainable (as in, "Available before Gym 1" or "Available before Gym 3"). Also mention if it's a limited event (so you can only get one of multiple Pokemon from the event, like choosing a starter), or if the event is particularly difficult (like Litwick's Event).
- What battles / parts of the game it is useful for.
- (Optional) Extra Usage: HMs? Sweet Scent? etc.
- It must be available in the current version of the game! NO AXED POKEMON. Click here to make sure a Pokemon is available.

If your post has all this information, it will be added to this one. You will be given credit for it, naturally. However, if not, then it will be edited or ignored.
Keep in mind that you may choose to state your argument on why a Pokemon should be reranked higher or lower. I usually won't move analyses unless somebody says to and gives a good reason.


Examples of a Ranking:


257MS.pngBlaziken (S Rank)
+ Before Gym 1, Venam.
+ Has Speed Boost to raise Blaziken's already amazing Speed. Blaze is usable, but Speed Boost is better.
+ Has a great physical movepool to compliment its beautiful Attack: Flare Blitz, Fire Punch (for no recoil), Sky Uppercut, High Jump Kick (Relearn), Brave Bird, Bulk Up (boosts Defense as well as Attack!), Night Slash (Breed)
+ Most likely the best starter.
- Is only obtainable as a starter, so if you want something else, well, no Blaziken.
- Its most powerful moves, Flare Blitz, High Jump Kick, and Brave Bird, can/will cause recoil damage, so Blaziken will need healing items to sustain itself.
- Infamous for being the strongest and making Rejuvenation or any other fan-game easier than it should be.

- Getting it as a Jackpot starter can take forever.

+ Getting Dragon Rage = rip Venam and Keta and even many of Marianette's Pokemon.

+ False Swipe is nice for catching Pokemon.

+ Dragon Dance, Dragon Claw, Outrage, Assurance, Swords Dance, and TM X-Scissor are all great moves! You can also breed Night Slash for more coverage, and combine that with Focus Energy (this can also be done with Slash), and crit galore!

+ Once it fully evolves to Haxorus, you're pretty set!

- It doesn't have anything to deal with Fairies...

- Even with a decent Attack, it won't do much after Marianette until it can evolve into Fraxure.

+ Awesome moveset : Shadow Ball (relearn)/Flamethrower/Psychic/Psyshock/Fire Blast/Will-O-Wisp/Mystical Fire/Light Screen, Wish/Heat Wave/Hypnosis/Magic Coat (egg moves), Grass Knot/Magma Drift (by TM)

+ Fast with base 104 Speed.

+ Highest base Special Attack of all fully evolved starter Pokémon, disregarding Mega Evolutions. (quote from Bulbapedia)

+ Decent stat all around. Can tank special hits with 100 base Sp.Def and Light Screen.

+ Great for a bunch of leaders : Venam, Keta, Crawli, Angie.

+ Its good moves come somewhat early, with Psyshock at 34 and Flamethrower at 42.

+ Can fill the roles of supporting (with Will-O-Wisp/Wish/Light Screen) or a special attacker for the team.

+ Magician can help you steal wild Pokemon's items permanently or screw a Trainer's Pokemon that likes its Item. Blaze is okay, but it only works on Fire moves and at low health, which isn't too great.

- Available only as starter in v6.

- It has to compete with Blaziken and Infernape for that Fire slot starter of your team. Infernape simply has more Speed, and Blaziken has that Speed Boost. Still, it's a special attacker, which is different from these two physical Pokemon.

+ Before Gym 1, Venam.

- Only. Available. By. Jackpot. Meaning it's going to be hard getting a nice Nature and decent IVs.

+ Magic Bounce is amazing, especially early on when everyone tries to status you or lower your stats. With Magic Bounce, Venam can't put up her Toxic Spikes and Crawli can't put up his Barbed Wire.

+ A very nice Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed, and a nice movepool too: Psychic, Shadow Ball TM, Morning Sun, Future Sight, Swift, Hidden Power (preferably Fighting)

+ Can easily deal with the early Gyms, like Venam, Keta, Marianette, and even Narcissa, as it can outspeed and 2HKO most of her Pokemon. Espeon is also useful against Angie's slower Pokemon, and is great against Bosses.

+ Available before Gym 1, Venam.

+ Very fast, and has nice Attack and Special Attack.

+ Protean is awesome both offensively and defensively

+ Can fill many roles of a team (physical/special/support with Spikes + Mat Block).

+ Very good level up moves: Night Slash, Shadow Sneak (Relearn), Spikes (Relearn), Smack Down, Water Shuriken, Bounce, Extrasensory, Haze, Hydro Pump, Surf TM, Rain Dance TM, Toxic Spikes (Breed).

+ Good for many leaders thanks to its wide range of level up moves.

- Very frail, even with Protean's help.

- Shortage of TMs, and the more useful level up moves are late or need Heart Scales.

- Only available as a starter.

+ Before Gym 1.

+ Iron Fist is great if you want to use the Elemental Punches and/or Mach Punch.

+ A very nice Attack, Special Attack, and Speed. The Defenses and HP are mediocre, but they're better than many.

+ A nice movepool: Mach Punch, Flare Blitz, Fire Punch and Thunder Punch (Breed), Punishment, Close Combat, Acrobatics.

+ Easily takes out most on the following Gym Leaders' teams: Marianette, Crawli, Angie, Venam

- Considered a weaker Blaziken.

- Even with a great Special Attack, it doesn't get a chance to utilize it, due to a lack of TMs.

- Only available as a starter.

A Rank:

+ Available before the first Gym, Venam, in a Help Center Quest.

+ Intimidate is great when battling against physical Pokemon like Keta's team or Marianette's Slaking, whereas Flash Fire is great for just a few battles, like Amber.

+ Decent stats all around, so you can make use of Arcanine's movepool, which includes Crunch, Outrage, Flare Blitz, Extremespeed, Close Combat (Breed), Morning Sun (Breed), Iron Tail (Breed), Thunder Fang (Relearn), Heat Wave, Magma Drift TM, and Agility.

- You have to evolve Arcanine pretty late, since Growlithe gets most of Arcanine's good moves.
- It has no other boosts besides Agility.

+ Highest base Defense of all non-legendary Fighting-types and all non-Mega starter Pokemon (actual quote from Bulbapedia), and a good physical attack, too.

+ Great movepool with setup moves in Belly Drum or Bulk Up; defensive moves in Spiky Shield, Pain Split, and Leech Seed; and offensive moves in Seed Bomb, Wood Hammer, Hammer Arm, Stacking Shot, Body Slam, and Dig.

+ Amazing ability in bulletproof, allowing it to shrug off attacks like Shadow Ball, Bullet Seed (eat it, Marianette's Cinccino!) and Sludge Bomb, among others.

+ Available as a starter Pokemon (as Chespin), and can be fully evolved before Marianette's Gym (with a reverse candy, of course).

+ Helps greatly in the first battle with Keta (field-boosted Needle Arm), Marianette, and, surprisingly, Angie (Stacking Shot gives it power and speed if it can survive long enough).

- Has the most weaknesses of any starter (also quote from Bulbapedia).

- Pretty squishy Special Defense, undermining its great Defense and allowing Venam, Narcissa, Valerie, and Amber to get the better of it.

- Available only as a starter, so there's the opportunity cost of other, possibly better starters (ex. Blaziken, Delphox, Greninja, etc.) if you choose it.

342MS.pngCrawdaunt (by ShadowStar)

+ Great Attack, plus some nice moves: Aqua Jet, Crabhammer (plus Splash Plate or Mystic Water), Swords Dance, Knock Off, Crunch, Superpower (Breed)
+ Adaptability powers-up Crawdaunt's STABs. This nets many OHKOs/2HKOs that wold otherwise not occur. Really, all you need are STABs.
+ Obtainable right after the 4th Gym, Narcissa, by fishing/
+ Great for Valerie (the Field does not affect it), Crawli (Rain is up), Angie (Can easily defeat many of her Pokemon, being more physically oriented), and Amber (duh), especially if you can get some Swords Dances up. Basically, great for every major battle.
- Low speed and defenses. EV Training would be best.
- Crawdaunt doesn't get so many moves. At least it doesn't need them!

189MS.pngJumpluff (by Azery)

+ Obtainable as a Shadow Pokemon, meaning a special move, or wild.

+ Has the Abilities Chlorophyll, which is great in the sun, as it raises Jumpluff's high enough Speed even more, or Infiltrator to hit through Reflect/Light Screen/Substitute (although there aren't many Trainers with these moves...)

+ With an amazing Speed, Jumpluff usually is able to get a Sleep Powder, Leech Seed, or Toxic Spikes (Shadow move) up. It also means that it can heal up with Synthesis before your opponent takes you out after weakening you, or you can Cotton Guard to try to live more hits physically. In Doubles, you can use Rage Powder.

+ Jumpluff also gets Acrobatics, which has a base power of 110 without a hold item (great for Crawli!), Bullet Seed, and Giga Drain, for offensive moves.

- Jumpluff has mediocre offenses...

- Jumpluff was moved to before Gym 6/7 (Crawli/Angie). It can do some nice damage with Acrobatics in Crawli's Gym, but Angie's quicker Pokemon and Amber's whole team destroys poor Jumpluff...


082MS.png Magneton (by Xiri)

+ Magneton has the decent Abilities of Sturdy and Analytic. Analytic for more offense, but Sturdy for making sure you can live at least two hits.

+ 120 Special Attack. You'll do well with Charge Beam, Discharge, Flash Cannon, Metal Sound, Thunder Wave, Hidden Power

+ It's useful for most bosses and Angie!

- Besides Electric moves and Steel moves and your random Hidden Power, there's nothing else special that Magneton gets.

- No Eviolite :[

- No evolving Magneton to Magnezone :[

- It's available just before Crawli (which is pretty late in-game), by a Help Center Quest.

034MS.pngNidoking and 031MS.pngNidoqueen (by bloo and ShadowStar)

+ Both available before Gym 1, wild, with a Moon Stone available before Gym 2.

+ The King has very nice offense, the Queen has very nice bulk. Choose either.

+ Hustle is a very nice Ability boosting that Attack, which later becomes Sheer Force, which boosts a couple moves on both. Poison Point can be useful, but is less used due to so much chance.

+ The King has: Megahorn, Thrash, Chip Away, Earth Power, Beat Up (Breed), Head Smash (Breed), Iron Tail (Breed), Poison Tail (Breed), Sucker Punch (Breed), Surf TM, Poison Sweep TM, Sludge Bomb TM, Toxic Spikes, Poison Jab, Sludge Wave TM, whereas the Queen has many of these moves but switches Megahorn with Superpower. Sucker Punch for Skull Bash, Head Smash for Charm, and Pursuit.

+ Venam can be taken down with Hustle, and Toxic Spikes can help with basically everything else. In addition, Superpower on Queen works nicely against Angie, and both the King and the Queen are useful against Marianette and Amber's teams.

- A lack of moves, really. No Ice Beam, Flamethrower, or Thunderbolt. No elemental punches. No Stealth Rocks or Super Fang.

537MS.png Seismitoad (by Xiri)

+ Available before the first Gym (Venam), as a Shadow Pokemon

+ Has Water Absorb, which can heal it more, or Swift Swim if you utilize the Rain a lot. Poison Touch is meh, since it's not Toxic and only has a chance of poisoning.

+ You've got decent stats all around, so Seismitoad can function as a somewhat bulky mixed attacker. It has Aqua Ring (since Leftovers aren't a thing yet), Rain Dance (which is commonly used with Swift Swim), Muddy Water, Hydro Pump, Surf, Drain Punch (one other way of healing), Hyper Voice, Dig, and Earth Power (breed).

- Very slow.

- 4 times weak to Grass moves. Due to this, faster Pokemon can easily take out Seismitoad, like Narcissa's Chandelure.

+ Available before gym 1, Venam

- Sylveon can only be obtained by JACKPOT. Good luck trying to get that Eevee.

+ Cute Charm is decent and all, but Pixilate is the best Ability hands down

+ A decent movepool: Skill Swap, Draining Kiss, Quick Attack, Misty Terrain, Light Screen, Last Resort, Shadow Ball TM, Wish (Breed), Yawn (Breed)

+ Skill Swap is noticable because it can give you a somewhat decent Ability while giving your Ability to somebody who doesn't gain anything from it (i.e. Huge Power Medicham, Water Absorb Volcanion)

+ I'd also like to mention the power of Pixilate Last Resort, because it is AMAZING. You might even want to delete all of your moves and only keep Last Resort to use it more!

+ Amazing Special Attack and Special Defense, as well as Decent HP
+ Resistance to all Shadow Pokemon, so you don't have to worry about them defeating you. The problem is catching them now!

- Despite that good HP, Defense is terrible.

+ Before Gym 2 (Keta), as a Shadow Pokemon

+ Regenerator is amazing. Hands down best Ability. Chlorophyll is usable on a sun team, but Regenerator trumps it any day.

+ An AMAZING Defense stat makes Tangrowth a very nice defensive wall.

+ Giga Drain, Knock Off, Ancient Power, Power Whip, Wild Charge (Shadow), Sleep Powder, Sludge Bomb TM, and Leech Seed (breed) are all opened up to Tangrowth. It's a shame that you can't have Wild Charge AND Leech Seed, since you can't pass down Shadow moves...

+ Useful for most bosses, Keta, Marianette, and Valerie (although you should watch out for those Ice Beams)

- A TERRIBLE Special Defense, and an ABYSMAL Speed. It's a shame something so defensive can't be specially defensive, and that something with such a wide movepool can't be quick.

+ To combat the Speed problem, a Quick Claw is recommended.

389.pngTorterra (by Shpee)

+ Available before Venam.

+ Two decent Abilities: Overgrow to boost Wood Hammer more when weakened or Shell Armor to prevent crits.

+ Has a monstrous attack stat with some very powerful STAB moves, such as Earthquake and Wood Hammer (Relearn).

+ Learns STAB Earthquake at level 32 which allows it to destroy anything that doesn't resist it semi-early.

+ Also has Leech Seed and Synthesis for Recovery, Crunch for coverage, and Curse to boost Attack.

+ Good bulk and has immunity to Electric type attacks.

- Available only as a starter, currently.

- Has common weaknesses including Fire, Flying and 4x weakness to Ice,

- Has an abysmal speed stat which allows it to be OHKO'd by many Ice moves.

+ A Quick Claw can remedy this problem.

157MS.pngTyphlosion (by ShadowStar)

+ Available before Gym 1.

+ Nice Speed, Nice Special Attack, Decent Special Movepool: Eruption (recommended Heart Scale), Flamethrower, Nature Power (Breed), Hidden Power (preferably Grass), Extrasensory (Breed), Magma Drift TM, Lava Plume, Smokescreen (Can help you "cheese" certain bosses).

+ A decent Attack, too. Plus Typhlosion gets some cool physical moves: Flame Charge, Gyro Ball (Relearn), Double-Edge (Breed), Covet (Breed)

+ Typhlosion isn't bad against any Gym Leader, really, besides Valerie. Typhlosion's especially useful against Narcissa, where he can Flame Charge (buffed by the Field) and/or use Nature Power, if you have bred it, and Amber, where you can use Eruption on everything besides the Leader's own Typhlosion.

+ For HMs/Field Moves, Typhlosion is a good Magma Drift user. This could overwrite the Flamethrower slot in your Move-set.

+ If you manage to get the hidden Heart Scale before Marianette, you can use the Move Relearner's Sister to learn Eruption very early. Meaning you can use Eruption on everything from Marianette to Amber (minus Valerie).

- Can't do much to Valerie or Amber's own Typhlosion.

- Typhlosion doesn't get many coverage moves: just Fire moves, Hidden Power, Nature Power, and Psychic type Extrasensory. And Nature Power and Extrasensory must be bred...

- Available only as a starter.

637MS.pngVolcarona (by Follow)

+ Has potential to sweep 70% of your battles only by setting up a Quiver Dance, due to an already great Special Attack and Speed.

+ Great special bulk, which allows it to set up on many Pokemon.

+ Flame Body is a cool ability that can create set up opportunities against physical oriented Pokemon too, and Swarm is also decent for Bug type moves.

+ Even though it doesn't get a lot of options, all it needs is Quiver Dance + dual STAB (Fiery Dance/Heat Wave + Bug Buzz) to win most games. Other options include Hurricane or a good Hidden Power.

+ If you look at what's left (Steel Gym, Psychic Gym, Ren, Dark Gym, Aelita (Hurricane is nice)), you'll notice that Volcarona has a great chance of destroying them.

- Not really useful against any Gym Leader at the moment since it only evolves really late, after Angie (unless you want to level it up and bring it down with common candies), which its biggest flaw.

- Really hard to get in the Mystery Egg (but it's REALLY worth it).

- Terrible physical bulk, you might die to anything with rock/water coverage before you can even think about clicking Quiver Dance.

A- Rank:

036MS.pngClefable (by TimTim)

+ Available early; Before Keta's gym Route 2 as Cleffa, wild encounter

+ Magic Guard is great due to Field Effects and indirect damage, but Unaware works, too.

+ Plenty of moves: Charm, Magical Leaf, Sweet Kiss, Encore, Wake Up Slap, Cosmic Power, Body Slam, Moonlight, Moonblast, Meteor Mash, Sing, Dig TM, Shadow Ball TM, Charge Beam TM, (here comes Breeding moves): Amnesia, Aromatherapy, Covet, Belly Drum, Fake Tears, Misty Terrain, Wish

+ Great HP and Special Defense, and can raise both Defenses with Cosmic Power. In addition, pure Fairy is pretty good, since there aren't too many Steel types, and Clefable is available after Venam. Fairy also means not being weak to Shadow moves.

+ Usable in EVERY Gym. Plus there's not too much competition against other good Fairies (Cottoneee is available in Mystery Egg only, and the others don't seem as desirable).

- Good moves arise very late for Clefairy which is a pain to raise

- Slow speed means probably getting hit before you can set up

- Not that great offensively, especially against Amber.

- Evolution is a pain, raising happiness without Soothe Bell or paying extra for Gourmet Treat or running back and forth for haircuts. Then there's the matter of finding a Moon Stone.

660MS.pngDiggersby (by Biboo)

+ Available before Gym 1, Venam, in a trade for a Pokemon relatively easy to find.

+ Huge Power is amazing. That Attack will be raised to 112, which is great with Diggersbytho's physical movepool. You could use Cheek Pouch + Oran Berry, but Sitrus Berries (which we can't get, I think) are much better and the Attack stat is much lowered.

+ Speaking of good stats, Diggersby's speed is also great.

+ It can get Earthquake, Quick Attack, Frustration, Facade, Hammer Arm, Stacking Shot, Bounce, Super Fang, Agility, Swords Dance, and Spikes (Breed)

+ Amber is easy to beat, plus Valerie and Angie's Pokemon can be revenge killed when weakened. Narcissa's Doublade which is usually a very bulky menace can also be taken out.

+ If you want, Diggersbytho can join the Pick-Up Squad.

- No TM Return :c

- TBH, Diggersby is only good when you get Earthquake. It's decent for Venam, but for other battles like Keta, there's not much that can be done.

+ Available super-early in Gearen City from the guy that sells Pokeballs for 400P.

+ Available evolved before Keta (evolves at 30, then you can lower it a bit).

+ Incredible speed barring speed-altering situations (Water surface and Crawli's Barbed Wire).

+ An abusable moveset: Charge Beam, Electro Ball, Discharge, Eerie Impulse (lowers opponent's SpAtt two stages).

+ Very fast Light Screen support if you're bad in using Electrode, and yes, Light Screen is bad.

+ Great at cheesing single Pokemon bosses like Shadow Mewtwo by outspeeding and lowering their SpAtt as much as possible before going down, opening a way for teammates to beat them easier

+ Great monosweeping potential: In Singles, it can single out an opponent's special attacker, abuse it's speed and spam two or three Eerie Impulses to nil their SpAtt, heal up, take minimal damage barring crits hax and set up Charge Beams while the opponent either does minimal damage or heals. Considering that Charge Beam takes a while to reach KO potential, you can reach a respectable +4 and higher in many situations before your setup bait dies. Then proceed to click the right STAB (Electric is a largely unresisted type and ElectroBall breaks easily many slow bulky opponents) and sweep teams easily. Even if the sweep is full (hello Slaking, hello Gengar because Spiritomb's Pressure killed my PP) you still have abused one Pokemon to destroy ~4 of the opponent, and have enough to deal with what's left.

- Terribad coverage: Hidden Power x-type (hunt for Ice or Grass preferably), Swift, that's it

- Lackluster stats barring speed: its bulk is 0 without abusing Eerie Impulse, its SpAtt is really bad without setting up lots of Charge Beams

- Doubles: other than setting said bad Light Screen or fishing for a Para or two with Discharge or singling out an opponent to use Eerie Impulse, it's really bad in Doubles

- No access to Thunder Wave: ok, it can do it's job anyway, but T-Wave would go so incredibly perfect with it

- Speed drop situations render it useless: looking at the current field of Valarie, and also Crawli if he sets webs and you can't remove them

- I didn't need to abuse it in later fights: I abused it to wipe out most of Narcissa's and Marianette's teams easy and sweet, as well as both Keta matches, some Ren fights, Amaria, etc, but I haven't used it against Crawli and Angie because I had much better solutions that wiped them out (Defiant Empoleon and Justified Arcanine, ggs)

- Requires support with Intimidate and/or Baby Doll Eyes to use physical attackers as setup bait: Herdier-Stoutland make the best partner, I guess

- The very rare Contrary, Defiant or Competitive opponents make use of getting their stats lowered.

- Crits hax.

+ Double-Edged sword against Venam (Psychic against Poison, Poison against Fairy) and Marianette (Fairy is buffed, Physical Attackers hurt), and simply just good against Keta, Valerie and Amber (if you Trace correctly), and Angie, for walling Cold Truths.

+ Gets the coveted Prankster, which it can make use of with moves like Charm, Misty Terrain, Rain Dance TM, and Yawn (Breed).

+ Prankster + Light Screen + Reflect + Light Clay = Easy surviving.

+ Has a decent Defenses, HP, and Special Attack, so it can also use Psyshock/Psychic as a damaging move.

+ Easily can take out most of Venam and Keta's teams, and its Dual Screens and Misty Terrain will make the other battles much easier.

+ One of the fastest Rain Dance supporters.

- Can't do much offensively besides doing Psyshock/Psychic. In addition, without Miracle Eye, Meowstic can't hit Dark types.

- You'll need to grind up for coins a bit to get Meowstic...

- No Thunder Wave or Toxic - you can only use Yawn. :c

+ Available before Gym 1, Venam, as a repeatable event.

+ Levitate is the only choice of Ability, but a Ground Immunity is nice to add on with the Fighting and Normal Immunity. This also means Migmagius is a suitable partner for an Earthquaker in Doubles.

+ A nice special movepool to go along with Mismagius' nice Special Attack and Speed: Shadow Ball, Magical Leaf (Relearn), Power Gem. Mystical Fire (Relearn), Perish Song, Destiny Bond (Breed), Nasty Plot (Breed), Pain Split.

+ A great Special Defense.

+ Useful for Narcissa, if you outspeed, and Valerie, since you aren't affected by her Field. In addition, Perish Song/Destiny Bond can take out some bosses.

- Terrible Defense and HP...

- You have to get the moves you want on Misdreavus before evolving it, since some moves aren't available due to evolution by stone. In addition, many of Mismagius' offensive moves are available only by relearning.

+ A nice movepool: Roost, Tailwind, Super Fang, Air Slash, Boomburst, Hurricane, Dragon Pulse, Shadow Ball TM, X-Scissor TM, Outrage (Breed)
+ Tailwind is especially useful in bosses. Noivern can handle itself in Crawli and Amber, though.

- Good luck evolving Noibat.

- Needs a couple Heart Scales for some nice moves.

+ Two great abilities in Rock Head and Sturdy (Rattled is meh).

+ Surprisingly good movepool with Rock Tomb, Counter, and Sucker Punch for utility; Rock Slide/Stone Edge, Hammer Arm, Double-Edge, and Wood Hammer for raw power (the last two are better used with rock head, though); and a godly boosting move in Shift Gear (Shadow move).

+ Great offensive typing in Rock, giving it usefulness in the battles against Marianette, Crawli, Angie, and Amber.

+ Impressive 70/115 physical bulk and a good 100 Attack, further boosted by Shift Gear.

- Meh Special Defense and laughable Speed (although the Speed is patched up by Shift Gear).

- Not very useful in the battles against Keta, and while useful in theory against Angie and Amber, its weak Special Defense leaves it vulnerable to their powerful special moves.

- Bad defensive typing in Rock, leaving it weak to five types (which is exasperated by its bad Speed before Shift Gear, meaning it's going to most likely be taking a hit before attacking).

+Before Gym 4, Narcissa, wild.

+ Natural Cure is useful for status ailments.

+ An amazing Attack and decent Defenses, as well as a useful movepool: Horn Leech, Leech Seed, Curse, Destiny Bond, Will-o-Wisp, Shadow Claw, Phantom Force.

+ Useful especially for burning things, like Narcissa's Dusclops and Doublade or Angie's Mamoswine and Abomasnow.

+ Bosses are much easier to take down with Curse + Will-o-Wisp + Leech Seed / Destiny Bond.

- Fairly low Speed and Special Attack.

- Requires a Trade Stone, so make sure to buy one in v6.2 while you can!

- Only available at night and with a Gourmet Treat...
- Weak to Narcissa, Crawli, Angie, and Amber, which all four Gyms after Trevenant is available. Luckily, it has statuses to inflict.

+ Available before Venam.

+ Chlorophyll doubles its Speed in Sunny weather, which might be nice for Amber with its Sleep Powder.

+ Nice stats all around.

+ Decent movepool: Giga Drain (Breed), Sleep Powder/Leech Seed/Synthesis, Sludge Bomb TM, Hidden Power Fire TM (if you're lucky with its IVs)

+ It has a great combo of bulkiness and recovery with Giga Drain + Leech Seed + Synthesis

+ Can put stuff to sleep, handy for both battles and catching Pokemon.

+ Between the Grass starters, it's one of the top contenders, seeing as it's simply good throughout the game and doesn't really have a weak stage.

- It doesn't do that much against later gym leaders like Valerie/Crawli/Angie/Amber besides maybe Leech Seed/Poison things until it dies, but it's ok for everything else.

- Its good moves come pretty late. You can only get Giga Drain on it after Marianette, and Sludge Bomb after you get Rock Climb (either by the V5 Scraggy or after Kreiss gives you the HM).

- It can't really touch a Steel or other Poison type Pokemon at all, unless it has a nice Hidden Power type.

- Available only as a starter.

+ Stellar Defense and a good HP give it awesome physical bulk, and a great Attack stat helps make it an awesome physical tank.

+ Available before Narcissa from the Mystery Egg, and helps with the fights against Eli and Sharon, Crawli, Angie, and Amber.

+ Has a 4x resistance to those ever-present Normal-types.

- Available only from the Mystery Egg, so you have a pretty low chance of getting it.

- Bad Special Defense really holds it back, and with no way to boost it; even resisted special attacks are going to take a chunk out of its HP.

- All of its abilities have opportunity costs: Sturdy prevents you from using Head Smash or Heavy Slam, Heavy Metal prevents you from using Head Smash and leaves it open to special attacks, and Rock Head prevents you from using Heavy Slam and leaves it ope to special attacks.

- Pretty bad defensive typing, giving it a slew of weaknesses and two 4x weaknesses.

+ Blastoise has been useful for pretty much every gym, whether it's taking hits, changing the weather, or even going on the offensive. Its bulk and power allows it to do all of these things and it will surely prove to be a powerful team member.
- Available only as a starter.

- No breeding to get some of its other good moves, like Flash Cannon or Aura Sphere, until Pokemon like Clawitzer are available.

- Also, some of its best moves are available only by breeding, so have fun with that.

- Either available by luck somewhat early or for certain later on. If you get the latter, you won't be able to use Breloom on Narcissa or Valerie.

- A lack of boosting move or recovery. 100 base attack and speed can only get you that far' Flygon will have hard time against Legendaries that we currently have in the game.

+ Cursed Body is very useful in clutch moments when opponent SE move is sealed and Water Absorb can work too but less reliable in game since AI sometimes is able to pick up on Jellicent's water typing, but Damp is just not useful for in game.
+ Available after Marianette, which is wild and the only actual water encounter where it is, so it's pretty easy to get.
+ 100/70/105 is impressive bulk in game, as it can wall many hard hitting things in game.
+ Recover complements its good bulk and Rain Dance boosts its water moves or for support of its teammates.
+ 85 base special attack can deal a considerable amount of damage, with Hex + status and Surf.
+ Unusual typing water/ghost type guarantee an immunity to normal, plus resistances to Ice, Water, Fire and Bug which are very nifty for the four late current gym leaders.
- Move coverage still leaves much to desire for without good TMs, and Shadow Ball is a hassle to obtain and pretty late to acquire.
- 60 base speed is mediocre and makes it a sitting duck for attack before it moves.
- Prevalence of Dark types and moves in game holds Jellicent back from showcasing its full potential.
- Takes a long time before evolution.

+ Meowstic gets Infiltrator if you're worrying about screens and/or Substitute, but you should probably go for Competitive for the Sp. Atk boost after every stat drop.
+ Nice Special Attack and Speed, and a nice movepool: Light Screen, Psychic/Psyshock, Shadow Ball, Signal Beam, Charge Beam + Stored Power, Yawn (Breed).
+ Great for Venam and Keta specifically. For the rest, Meowstic doesn't have much to say, but a Light Screen can be useful.Meowstic as Espurr can solo Venam, and can defeat quite a few of Keta's Pokemon. Charge Beam can be useful for Valerie, but be careful since Valerie's team doesn't play around. Can set up a Light Screen against Amber for your team though. She doesn't like Narcissa too much, but she can still kill something with its Speed and Shadow Ball. She doesn't like Crawli, and Angie's team hurts a lot.

- Doesn't do so well on the defensive side.

- Narcissa, Crawli, and Angie hurt Meowstic a lot, and Valerie's Field makes pretty slow.
- Grinding coins can be a hassle.

+ Useful against Narcissa (Ghost immunity + STAB Horn Leech + Leech Seed), and Valerie (although Ice Beam hurts). Double-Edge also hurts Crawli and Angie a lot, but it's also vice versa.

- Not useful against Venam and Keta, obviously, as well as Amber.

- There's plenty of other Grass types who can deal with the Gyms that are good against Grass types, being Crawli, Angie, and Amber (i.e. Jumpluff, Ludicolo, etc.)

- Outclassed by future Psychic types and Flying types.

- Narcissa and Angie hurt Xatu a lot, especially with its mediocre Defenses.

+ With a nice Special Attack and decent Speed, Butterfree can use Sleep Powder, Quiver Dance, Bug Buzz, Poison Powder, Shadow Ball TM, Psybeam, and Tailwind

+ Easily trumps Venam and somewhat Keta with Psychic moves, as well as Crawli.

- VERY frail, especially on the physical side.

- Stealth Rocks is an uncommon but deadly thing.

- Faces competition from Vivillon, who also uses Compound Eyes + Sleep Powder + Quiver Dance, but with more Speed and Hurricane. Butterfree can differentiate by using Tinted Lens, instead, however.

+ Tanks plenty of hits from Keta to Valerie to Angie to Amber with Rain thanks to Hydration + Rest, and EV training can make Dewgong VERY bulky.

- Dewgong can't do very much damage, and we don't have Toxic.

- Stallrein is also a thing, and many prefer to use Stallrein over Dewgong.

- Grinding up coins to get a Seel is hard work...

+ Available pretty early by fishing with a Good Rod in Gearen Sewers; you can get it even in pre Venam.
+ Great Ability in Adaptability, which allows STAB to be twice as powerful instead of 1.5 times, and given that most Dragalge level up moves are STABs, it is recommended over Poison Touch/Poison Point, which not only require physical contact, but also have a slim chance of activation.
+ 65/90/123 is amazing bulk, so it can work as a tank and whittle down opponents' HP with Toxic. Acid Armor could even potentially raise defense more if you breed it.
+ 75 base Atk and 97 base SpA allow Dragalge to land massive damage on opponents while tanking their attacks; it is particularly helpful in Crawli's battle and Valerie's battle when it stays as a Skrelp.
+ Its unique typing with Dragon/Poison helps with Aelita's rebattle post Angie since it resists all Aelita's movesets, and Skrelp's Poison/Water typing also helps with couple of major NPCs like Rorim B.
- It stays as Skrelp for soooo long. When we see more Gyms and more usage, Dragalge may get a rank up.
- Its nonexistent speed is its major flaw.
- Before the type changes happen upon evolution, it can't do much against early gym leaders until Crawli with mediocre stats those of Skrelp's, and of course no one would use Dragons for Angie (unless you're confident in their Speed), which leaves it with Amber and Crawli for Gym Leader battles.
- Loses Water STAB with Adaptability boost after evolution, which is a shame considering many of its moves are Water type moves.

+ The Ability Guts gives Hariyama more power, but Thick Fat gives more resistances. It's your choice.

+ Hariyama has a nice physical movepool: Belly Drum, Fake Out, Knock Off, Seismic Toss, Force Palm, Close Combat, Heavy Slam, Bullet Punch (Breed), Bulk Up TM
+ Marianette is weak to Force Palm, Narcissa is weak to Knock Off, Angie and Amber can't do as much with Thick Fat, and Angie is weak to Close Combat as well.

- Fairly low Defenses and Speed, and its Special Attack is terrible, so Surf is unusable as an attack...

- Bulk Up was moved until after Valerie, so nerfing Hariyama, as the only way to raise its Attack was by Belly Drum (which cuts its HP in half), and there is no way to raise that low Defense so you can live hits. Plus Close Combat lowers Defense and Special Defense so Bulk Up could've fixed half of that...

- Even with Bulk Up, it can't deal with Special moves. Especially after a few Close Combats. Luckily, you can switch to remove the stat drops, but that might mean a sacrifice.

- Hariyama already faces competition from other Fighting types like Medicham, Blaziken, Infernape, etc.

+ Great abilities of Thick Fat to make up for an Ice/Fire weakness (if one of your Pokemon is weak to Ice/Fire) or Ice body recovery for Hail team, but Oblivious is least useful among the three.

+ Impressive bulk with 110/90/90, with access to recovery moves like Aqua Ring and the Ability Ice Body, as well as with stat up moves like Curse and Stockpile. It can wall a good deal of damage.

+ 80 base Attack and 95 base Special Attack means while it is not the greatest offensive Pokemon, it sure makes a dent in opponents with Ice being a great offensive type.

+ Since we get Spheal relatively late in current release, it is almost close to evolving.

+ It's one of the few Pokemon that learn Blizzard via leveling up for removing ever annoying Amber's field.

- Again, late availability is probably a downside for some people who like to build their team early.

- Bad defensive typing, Ice typing is a set back for a defensive Pokemon, and Water typing can only do that much with neutrality to Steel and Fire but at the cost of two added weaknesses.

- 65 base Speed is unremarkable for a Pokemon who needs to pre-emptively use recovery moves or to strike first with the offensive.

- Cannot do much against Angie besides maybe help take out Mamoswine; hopefully the next Gyms after Amber will see more use of it.

C+ Rank:

+ Nice special defense, with Cotton Guard to boost its defense greatly.

+ Great status movepool: Sing, Dragonbreath (for paralysis), Dragon Dance, Cotton Guard, Tailwind, Rain Dance, Mist and Perish Song.

+ Very useful in a few battles, such as against Madelis, Marianette, Crawli, and Amber.

+ Either Ability is decent: Cloud Nine (for battles against Gyms like Amber) or Natural Cure (for statuses)

- Lackluster offensive movepool, with many of its compatible TMs not being available (only noticable moves are Moonblast, Dragon Pulse, and Sky Attack).

- Minimal attack stats, doing limited amount of damage, getting good attacking moves much later in the game.

- Limited use in many battles, can be very gimmicky.

- Despite having Perish Song, is sadly outclassed by Noivern.

+ Nice offensive stats, combined with Lightning Rod as an Ability and some decent moves: Fire Fang, Thunder Wave, Discharge, Wild Charge, Magma Drift TM, Cruch (Breed), Electro Ball (Breed), Ice Fang (Breed), Rain Dance TM

+ Only one weakness: Ground, which is fairly uncommon. Also, one of only non-Fire types to learn Magma Drift.

- Movepools are still not very wide.

- Abysmal bulk with 75/60/60 - even neutral damage may still be devastating.

- Ampharos, Zebstrika and Emolga (either better speed tier, movepool, bulk or typing) exist.

- Attack isn't too great, meaning those Fang moves and Wild Charge won't do as much.

- Discharge destroys opponent's as well as oneself's own ally in Double Battles, unless you or your ally have a Ground type/an Electric type with an Ability that makes it immune (which is situational in Amber's gym with her Charizard).

+ Also gets Agility, Nasty Plot, and Baton Pass, so you can set up and pass the stat boosts to a Special sweeper.

+ Due to Technician, you can use many moves, actually, like Cut, Rock Smash, Stacking Shot, Fake Out, Pursuit, Covet, and Double Hit. Still, they're not that great.

+ There's the niche Fake Out + Last Resort combination, if you can find the Move Deleter.

- Even though Ambipom gets Nasty Plot, its special movepool requires unobtainable TMs, and its Special Attack is terrible. This is only good for Baton Pass, really.

- Terrible Defenses and HP.

- Skill Link can't be used because Fury Swipes and Double Slap are pretty bad... Cincinno does a much better job.

- Weak to Keta, can't touch Narcissa, slowed against Valerie, can't do much against Crawli, and frail against Angie and Amber.

+ Professional HM slave, plus Headbutt is actually a nice STAB.

+ One of the earliest water type you can get, and it evolves pretty early.

+ It learns Toxic Spikes early which could help you as a support. Countering it, if Facade is available or you have a Pokemon that knows Venoshock/Hex, it can be a great tactic for battles.
- Even with its decent stats, it hardly attacks hard and takes hits.
- It gets outclassed by many Poison-type Pokemon.
- Only good for Poison support and for beating slow Fairy-type Pokemon.

- It doesn't get a huge variety of moves: Poison type moves, Normal type moves, and the few TMs available to us. Maybe Rock coverage if you breed.

+ Available before Venam.
+ Early water type that both evolves somewhat early and learns Rain Dance early.
+ Pure water type means only two weaknesses.
+ Best as a support Pokemon, assisted by naturally learnt Rain Dance via leveling up, plus movepools relatively wider than some water types via breeding
- After Marianette, there's a lot more better Water types.
- Lumineon's stats aren't the best; the only one standing out is Speed.
- When we say wider movepool, it doesn't mean those acquired moves of Lumineon are good enough.
- Starts to have severe disadvantages when Gym Leaders after Marianette have counters against Water types.
- No good TMs like Ice Beam for Lumineon.
- Tl;dr, use Lumineon only for Rain Dance for the early game only, since it will be outclassed by almost every Water type out there in the future. This is the only reason why it escaped D Rank.

+ Has Run Away, great for when you don't have any Repels, or Frisk, useful for when you're trying to get wild Pokemon's held items.

+ You can make use of Furret by giving it HMs Rock Smash, Cut, and Surf.

+ Decent Speed and HP, and somewhat decent Attack.

+ Ghost Immunity, nice for Narcissa, plus you have Sucker Punch available on Furret.

- Defenses and Special Attack kinda suck, so you can't even utilize Furret's huge movepool.

- Kinda sucks for most Gym battles except maybe Venam and Narcissa (but even then, there are better Pokemon like Raticate...)

- It has mediocre to below average stats... Terrible Defenses, HP, and Speed, Mediocre offensive stats, and it doesn't even have a move to utilize its Attack stat.

- tl;dr don't use Unown.

Obtainable : Before the 1st gym, Hotel Casino (Trade for 4000 coins)

Abilities : Prankster for priority screens and Misty Terrain

Moves : Light Screen and Reflect for full supporting, STAB Psychic for some damage, and Misty Terrain for difficult field effects (Angie's for example)

Useful for: This thing can solo Venam, and can kill a lot of Keta's pokemons. Then, it starts to go a bit more over the supporting side. It doesn't like Narcissa, but can still help your team a lot with Light Screen. His priority dual screens and Misty Terrain can make Valerie and Angie A LOT easier. And it's always a good lead against Amber for Prankster Rain Dance.

Summary: Somewhat early (You're gonna have to work for it though), extremely useful, and is a member of my team every single run (in both Reborn and Rejuvenation) for a good reason. Meowstic is gonna open up a lot of opportunities for your sweepers and set up sweepers thanks to the dual screens. And once we get the TM for Thunder Wave, its usage just go way up.

Moves : Light Screen for some support for your team, STAB Psychic/Psyshock for damage, Shadow Ball/Signal Beam for coverage, Charge Beam for setting up, and Stored Power if you want it to be a set up sweeper.

Useful for : This thing can solo Venam, and can kill a lot of Keta's pokemons. It doesn't like Narcissa, but it can still kill something with its Speed and Shadow Ball. Charge Beam can be useful for Valerie, but be careful since Valerie's team doesn't play around. It doesn't like Crawli, and Angie's team hurts a lot. Can set up a Light Screen against Amber for your team though.

Summary: Somewhat early (You're gonna have to work for it though), not as useful as its male counterpart imo. Still a very fast pokemon, and can function as a revenge killer for the easy boost with Competitve.

I would say if you breed it with spirittomb(which is in 4th gym), and get nasty plot as breeding move.

I predict this could go to A rank or even A+ because of strong it will go just because of the move with it's base stats, it's ridicoulus.

Obtainable: Before Gym 1, Limited Event (Starter)

Abilities: Iron fist, always get this ability if you use the element punch. Even not, it would greatly help the mach punch.

Moves.

Level up.

Mach punch, flame wheel, punishment(if you want to), close combat, acrobaties(if you don't use any items) and flare blitz that removes flame wheel.

However you can get the flare blitz earlier when you find a hidden heart scale, and your evolution is infernape aka. fully.

Breeding moves: Thunder punch only. Fire punch is an other option if you don't want to use flare blitz.

And they are all breedable from earlier pokemon such meditite. So another good point.

Useful For:

Venam(fine), Keta(just for lucario really or pokemon that is slower than itself), Marianette(Great for speed and attack power)

Narcissa(Not reccommendable unless a few pokemon) Valerie(NOPE), Crawli(Piece of cake), Angie(Of course really nice expection of froslass)

Amber(Not useful). Also it will help you a lot with the boss battles.

Summary: He is the guy that you will use him a lot. Never useless in any badge in my experience, is mostly to kill when the opponent have been weakened, or for the pokemon that is super effective enough.

He is pretty much a crazy guy so don't want to end.

Maybe a nerfed blaziken, but is still a really a useful pokemon.

True that. It's just the fact that you need to talk to 500 people just really turns people off from getting a Spirittomb. If Jan puts the Power items in the game, i'll definitely breed another Mismagius and breed Nasty Plot on it (since my Mismagius has 31 Speed IVs and i'm not ready to lose that).

Yeah that's true, but then again if you talk to the same person with very less dialouge i guess it will take just 5 minute or something.

And i can see that why, doing the ev again a new or such. And i agree with power items, i guess this would be in version 7(just predicting).

Abilities: Frisk to reveal items and Infiltrator to beat substitute

Moves: Roost: For longetivity in battle Tailwind: To help out your slower mons for a couple of turns (Great in boss battles/Double Battles) Super Fang: Great for whittling down a bulky mon or boss quickly Air Slash: Being able to flinch and provide STAB is great Move tutor moves: Boomburst, Hurricane and Dragon Pulse are all great moves for Noivern.

Useful for: Pretty much all boss fights and double battles. Also useful for Keta, Crawli and Amber. Helps slower mons beat faster opponents, something that is needed for intense mode.

Summary: Noiverns only real problem is getting Noibat to evolve, and getting heart scales for it. However, heart scales aren't needed. Noivern rocks one of the fastest base speeds of any rejuv pokemon we can get currently and has a wide array of support moves and damaging moves. Tailwind helps for multiple fights, as does super fang and roost can help you heal without wasting any of your hard earned lemonade and moomoo milk. Finally, all of Noiverns STABs and Boomburst hit like a truck coming off of an EV trained base 97 special attack stat with Modest nature (which isn't even needed btw). All-in-all, Noivern is a wonderful support mon that can hold its own late game and is only hindered by when it evolves. I'd highly recommend picking one up.

Obtainable: Before Gym 1 (obtained as a Shadow Pokemon initially)

Abilities: Water Absorb is the best ability, but Swift Swim could work in certain situations. Don't go for Poison Touch.

Moves: Aqua Ring, Muddy Water, Rain Dance, Hydro Pump, Drain Punch, Hyper Voice, Surf, Dig

Useful For: Boss Battles, Valerie, Amber, Angie

Summary: Seismitoad has been surprising me immensely in my playthrough with its awesomeness. It does eat up hits quite well (unless it is a grass-type attack), and performs well as its job as a mixed attacker with decent moves such as STAB Hydro Pump/Surf and Drain Punch. Super-useful against Valerie, Angie and Amber.

The major problem of Seismitoad is that it is slow - and this unfortunately allows speedy fire Pokemon to OHKO it with a grass move (e.g Narcissa's Chandelure). Also, some field effects decrease the power of Water-type moves - although this can be resolved to some extent via the move Rain Dance.

Obtainable: Before Gym 4, Wild (At night)

Abilities: Natural Cure if you're afraid of status ailments, Harvest once you get your hands on Sitrus Berry for easy recovery

Moves: STAB Horn Leech and Leech Seed make a nice combo for easy healing, Curse and Destiny Bond for handling bosses, Will-O-Wisp to cut enemy's Attack (with the exception of Guts), STAB Shadow Claw and Phantom Force are always nice.

Useful for: Not recommended for Narcissa, but WoW is greatly appreciated on Duskclops and Doublade to wear them down slowly. Can do work against Valerie, but you have to be careful of Ice Beam (the same goes for Angie). WoW and Leech Seed are always welcomed on anything though, especially on Angie's Mamoswine and Abomasnow. Doesn't like Amber at all, but can still somewhat help with Leech Seed. Though, with its bulk + a helpful nature + some EVs, it can definitely take hits very well.

Summary: You can catch it before Narcissa, so not that late into the game. And thanks to the Link Stone sold on Route 3, you can evolve Phantump pretty easy too. A very nice pokemon to have, and a great addition to any team that's weak to physical attacks thanks to Will-O-Wisp.
