Audition Stage:

Kagari took a deep breath. Just beyond these curtains was a theatre, filled to the brim with people waiting to see the birth of new idols. Once she stepped onto that stage, her audition would begin; the audition to decide her future.

As she had been taught, she took deep, long breaths, trying to calm the incessant beating of her heart. She knew the dance by heart, she'd practiced it countless times in the studio, practiced and practiced and practiced, until she dreamed of dancing, dreamed of singing. She quickly ran through the lyrics in her head one more time. If she messed up this chance, her preparations, her trials, her efforts over the last 2 months would be completely wasted. She could not afford to fail, not if she was to achieve her dream.

"Applicant #285, Koizumi Kagari."

The audience quietened down as they awaited her entrance.

Kagari touched the butterfly hairclips holding her bangs in place, then patted down the back of her shoulder-length brown hair. Whispering a quiet wish, she ran out onto the stage with a smile.

What greeted her was a large theatre hall, filled with people armed with glowsticks. More than a hundred eyes stared at her, waiting. The urge to shrink back and run away was strong, but Kagari fiercely fought it. She was not going to let fear take away her chance to reach her dream. She looked straight at the table set up in the middle of the hall, behind which sat the three judges, fingers interlocked and awaiting her performance. She bowed politely to them, then picked up the microphone from the stand in the middle of the stage. Immediately, all the lights in the hall dimmed, save for the spotlight on her. Quiet dominated the hall. She closed her eyes, willing her legs to stop shaking. Then her eyes snapped back open. She reached her arms out to her audience.

"Are you ready? I'm a Lady! Let's begin! If we try, we can do it! Absolutely, we'll be number 1!"

Her legs started moving in time with the music as she lost herself in her well-practiced movements.

"START, Today's concert stage! CHECK!! Mic, makeup, outfits, it's SHOW! TIME! TRY CHALLENGE! STARDOM, the shining shiny spotlight - It's dazzling sparkle leads to my DEBUT!"

The audience was beginning to get more excited; Kagari could feel the level of enthusiasm increasing.

"ENCORES don't ever happen in life; This is a one-time LIVE, so forward! No matter what, SHOW MUST GO ON!! 3! 2! 1!!!"

Kagari decided to mix things up a bit. As she neared the end of the current verse, she wound up, then with a single smooth motion, tossed the mic in the air and spun once on the spot. If her timing was right...

"CHANGIN' MY WORLD!! Draw a new dream that will never change!" She caught the mic just as the next verse began. "CHANGIN' right now! Whatever you'd like, when you're READY! CHANGIN' forward! While I chase after a new future, I'll be more and more like myself, so I can make my dream come true!"

By now the audience was standing up and chanting her name during the interludes. Kagari, caught in the moment, gave a clear, exaggerated wink as she danced, which caused several in the audience to cheer and shout. She resisted the urge to blush.

"ARE YOU READY? I'M A LADY! Come on and sing a song! One at a time, My smiles and my tears become, a fresh new dreamlike ENTERTAINMENT! ARE YOU READY? I'M A LADY! Let's begin anew~ If we try we'll succeed~ For sure~ Absolutely~ Because I'm Number 1!"

The song was coming to a close. For the last 2 minutes, Kagari had been moving her body and singing nonstop, moving more intensely and sharply than she had ever attempted. The effort was starting to take its toll. Her breaths were coming shorter, and her legs threatened to give out from fatigue. But she kept a smile on her face, and forced her body to carry on. Just a bit more...

"ALREADY! WE'RE ALL LADY! Dancing, let us dance~ step by step, meetings and partings, will become loving AMUSEMENT! ALREADY! WE'RE ALL LADY! I want us to begin! If we try, we'll become, more unique, absolutely! All of us, ONLY 1!"

As the song ended, Kagari pointed her finger at the audience, drawing a trail upwards. The spotlight cut, leaving the hall in pitch darkness. Then the applause started. From the closest seats, all the way to the seats in the back. People standing up, cheering her name. Kagari placed the mic on the stand, then closed her eyes, allowing herself the luxury of basking in the applause. Was this what it felt like to be an idol? Tears leaked out from beneath her closed lids. She bowed to the roaring crowd and shouted a "Thank You!" which was lost among the noise of the audience. Then she walked offstage and headed to the Waiting Room.

The glowing feeling of accomplishment from the audience's cheers was already being replaced with anxiety. Would she make the cut? She certainly hoped so. She joined the other candidates in the lobby, an almost tangible tension permeating the air.

((Like so. That's how you write your audition stage. You can choose to include all the lyrics, some of the lyrics, or none at all. You can choose to focus on your character's emotions, or on describing the dance, or describing the atmosphere, whatever you want. I've translated the whole video and used the lyric of the entire song in my stage for your convenience, so you can pick out certain parts of the italicised bits and use it in your audition if you want.))

darn straight, Joltik's the best damn electric type ever

Name: Kerrigan "Gunther" von Hertz
Age: 17
Likes: Martial arts, penguins, being outdoors, penguins, penguins, showers (especially after exercise), nature
Dislikes: Being told what to do, vegetarians, people who pick on animals (especially on penguins), tight spaces
Idol Specialization: Singing
Favorite Food: Fish and chips
Favorite Color: Indigo
Favorite Animal: penguins maybe
Favorite musical genre: Rock and Electronic tie together
Favorite dance genre: Streetdancing or... whatever KPop falls into
Favorite literary genre: Supernatural (like, superheroes and heroines and whatnot)
Most respected historical figure: Homer
Favorite anime: Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Favorite character within favorite anime: Spanner and/or Shouichi Irie

Why had she let herself be talked into this, again? Gunther watched the previous girl's performance from the waiting area through a monitor on the wall. For three seconds. Then she turned and left the room full of applicants, and snuck outside onto a balcony without anybody watching. The music could be heard from outside; she had only a precious few minutes to enjoy the momentary silence and peace before being hurled into two minutes of performing for a crowd of strangers she didn't know. Absentmindedly, she fiddled with the faux furry "flippers" of her penguin hat, which was fastened to her neck and hanging underneath her long blue hair-- if redheads thought that only they could pull off the flaming hair look, they ought to think again; her hair begun with her natural dark blue shade and gradually grew brighter and more intense in hues and colors as her hair flared outwards in waves and curls, until the tips, which touched the small of her back, were a pale blue verging on white.

To be a superstar, famous, adored by men, women, maybe even children of all sorts. With a rather unfeminine snort, Gunther rolled her pale brown eyes. That's not really my thing; I'm just here as your puppet. As your substitute. Whatever. "Whatever," she repeated, out loud, aware that what she'd just thought was a lie. Sort of. Somewhere, inside, the desire to be lauded and acknowledged burned, glistened. Being an idol would quench that want, that need, but only partly. The girl then turned on her heel and back inside, merely flashing the ID Pass to a passing guard, answered before he could even question. The roars of the audience grew louder and louder as she approached the doors, not giving any form of acknowledgment to the previous girl as she passed by; the hallway's walls close proximity to her was enough to irritate her. It wasn't really that she didn't care much for others-- okay, no, that was the case, but-- she just really, really hated feeling like she was boxed in. Confined in a small space. If it was a tighter squeeze, like say, the elevator or a fire exit, she might even lash out. It wasn't claustrophobia, not really. She just really hated feeling caged.

"Applicant # 360, Kerrigan "Gunther" von Hertz."

Gunther took it as her cue to walk onstage and did so, flashing a quizzical smile that was almost lackadaisical in nature and waving an arm casually at the quieted audience. The girl basked in the silence, taking in the huge stage that was hers and hers alone right now, feeling it more as the lights dimmed-- all but the lone spotlight, which too was hers now. The big screen behind her showed her demeanor, her face, for sure. Good. That was what she wanted; she winked and grinned-- impishly, she'd have liked to think-- at the camera focused on her, resulting in some cheers and whistles as the music started. Right. That could've netted more brownie points. Resisting the urge to make a face, she held the microphone and pointed, rather sharply, at the auditorium of floating glowsticks.

"Are you ready? I'm a Lady! Let's begin!" The first half of the first verse, she yelled, in an attempt to build up the excitement and hype. Surprising the audience, she shifted into her melodic singing voice for the next half: "If we try, we can do it! Absolutely, we'll be number 1!"

Dancing wasn't difficult, even if she didn't study it thoroughly (i.e. take up classes). It was really like martial arts; you moved your body in sync with an almost intangible kind of flow. It was actually easier to do with music to accompany and guide her movements. What was difficult for Gunther was acting all cutesy... It didn't translate too smoothly or come easily to her (as she had, she felt, a different kind of beauty), so she made up for it by adding more life and bounce to the dance steps.

"START, Today's concert stage! CHECK!! (here, she made a show of checking things off her fingers, like a list) Mic, makeup, outfits, it's SHOW! TIME! TRY CHALLENGE! STARDOM, the shining shiny spotlight - It's dazzling sparkle leads to my DEBUT!"

If she couldn't make up for not being adorable with exaggerated movements, she was sure, at least, that her singing was spot on. By this time, more people had joined the whistling and cheering; some had even begun to wave their glowsticks.

"ENCORES don't ever happen in life; This is a one-time LIVE, so forward! No matter what, SHOW MUST GO ON!! 3! 2! 1!!!"

Much like in the opening line, she switched gears almost seamlessly from singing to yelling the last part of the verse, striking cute (as she could) poses in succession and in time to the counting. To her surprise, the audience seemed to love it, coming alive with a rather abrupt roar of cheers and acclamation.

"CHANGIN' MY WORLD!! Draw a new dream that will never change! CHANGIN' right now! Whatever you'd like, when you're READY! CHANGIN' forward! While I chase after a new future, I'll be more and more like myself, so I can make my dream come true!"

If it weren't for her training in Muay Thai and Capoeira, the effort of dancing, singing, and thinking of ways to mix up the dance steps and to be extra cute would have had her flat on the floor, facefirst, pooped out. Her heart beat like a snare drum, not from nervousness or anxiety, but from the exertion of her body. Sweat began to form in beads a little earlier than she would have liked, but she took it into stride. If she let up on her momentum, then her having started would've been totally pointless... And she'd have to let go of the sheer approval, the praise she was receiving. For a moment, she even flashed the cliche and cheesy V-sign with her fingers, raising them to her eyes, earning more cheers and applause.

"Number 1" was bloody right; she was good and she felt it, getting into the rhythm and feel of things, shifting from shouting to singing as she danced. The crowd, clapping and singing along, affirmed her pride and confidence. In all honesty, she didn't really care if she passed for the judges or not. Right here, right now, she was actually having fun, at some point having given up trying to be cute and only doing what came naturally to her. Wonder if this was why she insisted on my joining, Gunther thought, the idea being there for a second before it faded away, lost as she became aware once more of the heat of her body in the costume, of the glaring spotlight, the penguin hat tied at her neck-- invisible to the crowd, for now-- and of course the now-tumultuous throng of glowsti-- people.

And it was finally done. Like applying garnish to a well-made dish, Gunther added a rather mellow "Ooh, yeah" after the last lyrics and pointing at the audience with both hands, raising them slowly like she were tracing a line in the air. In time with the final beat, she struck a final pose: feet apart and both hands raised to the sides of her face, middle, index fingers and thumbs out in a modified peace sign, and a playful wink-and-grin on her face. The clamor and whoops of praise grew to be deafening, the glowsticks waving more frantically. Basking in the ovation and attention, Gunther couldn't help grinning widely even as she let the pose go, only stopping to blowing flying kisses at the crowd. "Пока ~" she said into the microphone, before putting it back on the stand, bowing, and then walking out with a kind of strut to her steps as she waved goodbye.

And all too soon, the nice, desirable feelings of smug triumph were wiped out a little too immediately, a little too rudely, by the fact that she was back in a rather enclosed space and room.

The girl at herself in the mirror, combing her normally messy dark hair into a neat ponytail that stretched past her shoulders. Ringo tidied up her clothing, and took off her glasses.

"Without my glasses and with my hair like this, no one will recognize me... Right?" She starred at the mirror in several different angles, searching for some flaw in her plan. But she did indeed look very different, her green eyes shining with the bathroom light.

"Alright! I can do this!" She threw a few punches, as if boxing her mirror image but never striking the mirror. From the corner of her eye she noticed another girl looking very confused. "Hey, you got nothing else to stare at?! HUH!?" Ringo shouted scaring the girl out of the bathroom. Tch. None of these girls have any grit.

Ringo left the bathroom and went back to the waiting line. Soon enough they called out:

"Applicant #512 Hoshi Ringo"

Shit. Ringo thought. Crap, cat litter, and poop. They can't announce my name what if someone recognizes me... She ran into the stage red faced and grabbed the microphone.

"Hi uhm that's... Not how you read it! It's actually... Star Apple! Nice to meet everyone, you can call me Star if you want!" Damn it that's so dumb! But if I didn't say anything... The audience was already sharing looks of confusion. She took a deep breath and tapped her foot. Whatever, if this is already a train wreck let's give these losers the biggest train explosion they will ever see.

The music began and on tempo so did Ringo.

"Are you ready? I'm a Lady! Let's begin! If we try, we can do it! Absolutely, we'll be number 1!"

Getting into position and starting to dance wasn't exactly difficult, and the tempo was second nature to her. Her legs stomped, stepped, and side stepped in sync to the song.

"START, Today's concert stage! CHECK!! Mic, makeup, outfits, it's SHOW! TIME! TRY CHALLENGE! STARDOM, the shining shiny spotlight - It's dazzling sparkle leads to my DEBUT!"

Ringo jumped and smiled on the last word, landed and spun. When she faced the audience again she was surprised to see a few smiles, and quite a few people bopping their heads to her singing. She stepped forward and grabbed the microphone stand. She planted it on the ground and spun around it as she sang.

As the song went on and on, Ringo lost herself further into the rhythm. Now she was truly happy she chose to come to this contest, to try and do this. Her energy didn't lower, she simply danced better and jumped higher. As she reached her final verse her heart was beating so loudly that she felt the microphone would capture it.

She finished with her arms outstretched to the audience, and a smile and wink planted on her face. She took a few deep breaths to calm her heart. The audience clapped and a dozens even got up from their seats.

"Thank you! Rock on Keiyakusha!" Ringo raised her right arm into the air, forming her hand into devil horns. It took her two seconds to change the sign into a wave. Damn it, will I always be falling into dumb instincts? Ringo stood there for a moment or two, savoring the familiar feeling of applause. Then she made for the exit.

Leaving the stage, she made her way to the lobby. Using one of her more threatening looks she made a girl give up her seat, and Ringo sat down to look at the results screen. Wether I make it in or don't, what matters is that I tried... Right?

Arya gave a quick snap of her wrists as she took a deep breath, extinguishing the tiny flare she'd spent so long centering herself with in a single, satisfying click. She could already feel the blood beginning to rush as she stood there, Mic gripped firmly in her hand as she stowed the Zippo in her pocket.

"This is it..." She thought as the curtain began to rise. The initial roaring of the crowd and the spotlights were daunting, but she held her ground, taking another deep breath as she closed her eyes, blue and pure as a set of twin glaciers in the arctic. "I can do it, sis...I'll prove it!"

"Applicant #102, Arya Rame!"

The entire place quieted as the young songstress strode out of the darkness, the warmest smile she could muster on her face as the music began and the tempo was born. And Arya opened her mouth and did what she had thousands upon thousands of times before in the past. Did the one thing she knew how to do best, the one thing that was almost as much a part of her as fire was.

"Are you ready? I'm a Lady! Let's begin! If we try, we can do it! Absolutely, we'll be number 1!"

She let habit and practice take over the lyrics as she focused herself on the dance movements, soon allowing her body to fall into sync with her mouth as her form moved with just as much expression as the breathy, angelic voice reciting the lyrics from heart. Already, she had taken the song and made it her own, sung it with her own tone, her own soul. Already she had taken it and let it, just for a little while, to be apart of her. The words flowed like water from a spring, graceful, controlled, precious like life itself it seemed.

"START, Today's concert stage! CHECK!! Mic, makeup, outfits, it's SHOW! TIME! TRY CHALLENGE! STARDOM, the shining shiny spotlight - It's dazzling sparkle leads to my DEBUT!"

The Audience was still just as silent as when her name had been announced, eyes focused on the girl like moths drawn to the flickering of a flame. Every note, every word, seemed to have meaning, and they hung on them all, fearing that if they dared utter anything it would all come flying right by them and they'd lose it. Like desert wanderers, they listened on. Arya kept it up, beginning to gradually pump more energy into the song that she had turned into her namesake.

"ENCORES don't ever happen in life; This is a one-time LIVE, so forward! No matter what, SHOW MUST GO ON!! 3! 2! 1!!!"

She wondered if any of them had noticed she had just been repeating the same four step dance maneuver she had been doing since the beginning. The answer she got was the sight of many a glow stick being held on high, creating a sea of tiny lights as the audience began to sway their out-held arms in rhythm with the beat. All those tiny flares of dancing, living orange glow... it reminded her of fire. And her smile grew all the warmer. With all this flare around, she couldn't help but think it was time to spice up the dance routine, even if none of them were focused on it.

With the same, skilled flick of her risk she had used so many times to open and close her lighter, she sent the mic twirling high into the air like a baton, beginning the next verse just as the sound stick began it's lofty descent from the darkened heavens. "CHANGIN' MY WORLD!! Draw a new dream that will never change!" She held out her other hand, catching the device deftly with a slight twirl of her lithe body. And that was when the cheering finally began, like a dam breached by a tidal force, the excitement that had for so long been contained in awe finally filing every corner of the massive room, leaving an electrified atmosphere that Arya could feel propelling her onward farther and farther by the second like more and more wood being piled into an inferno. With so much fueling her, she could've kept going far longer at this rate if she had to, but she knew the end wasn't too far off now.

She let her energy wind down, dragging out the last few words and lowering the mic from her lips, gazing out over the audience as thunderous applause now joined the near deafening cheering people rising from the seats, chanting her name like some ancient spell just as the spot light overhead cut out, leaving her again in the pitch blackness from whence she had came.

"I can't believe I actually just did it..." she thought to herself, despite the rush of euphoria flowing through her veins as she backed away in the darkness and left the stage. "But... they liked me... far better than I thought anyone would." As she joined the other candidates already in the lobby she couldn't help but think... even if she didn't make the cut, just the fact of knowing that that many people had enjoyed her voice... it would be enough for her.

Hiroki took a deep breath as she tried to focus. Concentrate, concentrate, I've gotta do this right the first time. Pay attention. Concentrate. Why do they call it that, anyway? Isn't that what they make orange jui- DAMNIT. She was having a hard time keeping nerves down. She compulsively went after her hip-length silver hair every couple minutes with either a brush or a comb, as if keeping it under control would somehow make her audition go over better. But then. . . who was that?

That. . . Star Apple? Didn't matter, she stole her gimmick! Her anxiety at the reception of her somewhat unusual (for an idol, anyway) style turned to irritation bordering on rage when she witnessed the other girl perform. SHE was supposed to be the rocker here! Now she'd look like a cheap knockoff! Her violet eyes flashed. Her smallish frame almost shook with her emotions. Whatever, I'll just show them who's the REAL rocker here.

"Applicant #615: Yukimura Hiroki."

Finally. That Star Apple had better be watching. She walked up to the stage quickly, the violet accents on her skirts emphasizing her motions slightly. Oh, I hope this looks good on stage. . . FOCUS. The outfit consisted of mostly white, with the aforementioned accents and some black sections to add contrast. She took two more deep breaths. The first was for nerves. The second. . .

"Are you ready? I'm a Lady! Let's begin! If we try, we can do it! Absolutely, we'll be number 1!"

Her voice rang out across the room, sounding out quite loud despite the pose she did in which she held the microphone above herself, almost leaning back slightly. Crap, I need to dial back a bit, this isn't really set up for my style. Whatever, gotta keep going. She had definitely gotten the attention of the audience, though whether it was positive or not was yet to be seen.

"START, Today's concert stage! CHECK!! Mic, makeup, outfits, it's SHOW! TIME! TRY CHALLENGE! STARDOM, the shining shiny spotlight - It's dazzling sparkle leads to my DEBUT!"

She slowly began to dance, pirouetting in a sort of stylized, more graceful version of what one would see at a punk concert, or maybe a metal show. Gotta get some mainstream appeal, after all. She started to breathe a bit more heavily than the dance might have called for.

"ENCORES don't ever happen in life; This is a one-time LIVE, so forward! No matter what, SHOW MUST GO ON!! 3! 2! 1!!!"

She gradually increased the speed at which she moved. She was putting her own spin on the song, trying to drive it with her voice rather than letting the music dictate her pitch and volume. Her singing voice was a quite a bit lower than what the song normally called for, but she tried to sell it.

"CHANGIN' MY WORLD!! Draw a new dream that will never change! CHANGIN' right now! Whatever you'd like, when you're READY! CHANGIN' forward! While I chase after a new future, I'll be more and more like myself, so I can make my dream come true!"

As she sang, she started to sweat from something that was beginning to approach stage fright. So, she simply closed her eyes and focused on keeping herself on the right notes and doing the right moves. I hope I don't fall off the stage. . . This and similar thoughts flashed through her head as she tried to complete her performance.

She stopped and opened her eyes, facing the crowd. She got some cheers and applause from the crowd, but wasn't sure of her full impact as she rushed through a polite bow or two and then skittered back to the waiting room as fast as she could without running. When she returned, she quickly got over her nervousness as it was replaced once again with irritation. She leaned against a wall, her eyes boring holes into the girl who sat where someone else was previously.

Ruri simply sat in the waiting room. She watched as idol hopefuls went on and off the stage one-by-one. She fluffed her already fluffy short green hair another time…and another…and another. At this point, the feeling of fluffing her hair had just become something relaxing. It was as if she had never been nervous at all.

As if to purposely set to break her happy moment, the announcer called for the next applicant. "Applicant #615: Yukimura Hiroki."

Ruri frowned. The nerves started to rush back in. Dammit! she thought to herself. Just when I got into the zone. As the current applicant went through her routine, Ruri groped the Lapis Lazuli on her brooch and allowed her fingers to run across it as she calmed down again. Get a grip, Ruri! You're going to be on stage. So, calm your nerves and smile. Once you do so, the audience will definitely smile back.

At some point, the previous applicant must have finished her performance as the announcer called for the next applicant. "Applicant #616: Izayoi Ruri!"

With that, she stood up and put on a confident smile. She simply shouted "LET'S DO THIS!" as she pumped out her fist and walked to the stage.

As she walked out and looked into the eyes of the audience, she gave a big grin and picked up the mic. It was a new experience. She was performing in front of a huge audience and rather than feeling nervous, she felt a large amount of excitement welling in her.

The lights then died down as a single spotlight shone over her…and then…

"Are you ready? I'm a Lady! Let's begin! If we try, we can do it! Absolutely, we'll be number 1!"

The first set of verse started to flow out naturally as her feet moved in the proper steps of the dance routine she practiced in sync with the music. Her voice began to echo across the room. At this moment, after crossing the first hurdle of starting, Ruri felt nothing but pure elation.

"START, Today's concert stage! CHECK!! Mic, makeup, outfits, it's SHOW! TIME! TRY CHALLENGE! STARDOM, the shining shiny spotlight - It's dazzling sparkle leads to my DEBUT!"

The best part was, it seemed like that elation and excitement was beginning to overflow into the audience. The energy was palpable as she caught glimpses of smiles spreading throughout it like a ripple as they began to cheer.

"ENCORES don't ever happen in life; This is a one-time LIVE, so forward! No matter what, SHOW MUST GO ON!! 3! 2! 1!!!"

So, Ruri continued. She continued to sing each line and dance each step as she continued to share her energy with the more than receptive audience.

"CHANGIN' MY WORLD!! Draw a new dream that will never change! CHANGIN' right now! Whatever you'd like, when you're READY! CHANGIN' forward! While I chase after a new future, I'll be more and more like myself, so I can make my dream come true!"

She continued. Step-by-step. Without ever dropping that smile, she continued.

Even as she started to sweat, she continued. Soon, she would hit that final line. When she did…

She stretched out her hand with her finger out right in front of her and arced it until she finished with it pointing up as the song tuned out.

At that moment, she heard applause and cheers booming throughout the hall. There were a lot giving a standing ovation and a majority had ended up cheering her name repeatedly as if she was some cult leader. It was incredible. The feeling of reciprocation from the audience for the energy she shared with them was incredible.

She snapped back into a more normal standing position while keeping her hand up waving and put the mic back into the stand. With a shout of "THANK YOU EVERYBODY!" to finish everything off, she skipped back to the waiting room while never once dropping her smile. No, at this point, she was too elated to do so even if she wanted to.

She found a seat in the room and proceeded to sit on it before laughing happily out of pure excitement. At this point, she had completely forgotten that that this was supposed to be an audition. But frankly, she did not care at that point. She experienced it. She experienced the feeling of being on stage as an idol and sharing her smile and voice with the world and she could not let the excitement she had over how fun the experience was leave her.

Lyre sat in a chair with her eyes closed slowly breathing in and out trying to keep her heartbeat even. She could hear the sound of the crowd cheering and applauding the other girls as they took the stage. At times the reaction would be louder and stronger making Lyre worry that the crowd would use up all their energy before she would get a chance. “No, don’t worry about that Lyre do your best and have fun and share you energy with the crowd” she told herself over and over

“Applicant #720, Lyre Cross”

Lyre opened her green eyes and straightened her aqua hair once more before venturing out onto the stage. Greeting the crowd with a wave and smile before bowing to the judges, Lyre took the mic and closed her green eyes as the lights dimmed.

"Are you ready? I'm a Lady! Let's begin! If we try, we can do it! Absolutely, we'll be number 1!"

Swaying her free arm to the rhythm of the song Lyre sang the first few versus with her eyes closed. Then snapping them open at “number one” with her swaying arm stopping well her hand showed the number one next to the mic.

"START, Today's concert stage! CHECK!! Mic, makeup, outfits, it's SHOW! TIME! TRY CHALLENGE! STARDOM, the shining shiny spotlight - It's dazzling sparkle leads to my DEBUT!"

Lyre continued swaying her arm with the song as her body began matched the movement of the arm. Quietly at first the audience began to chant her with the rhythm of Lyre’s movement.

"ENCORES don't ever happen in life; This is a one-time LIVE, so forward! No matter what, SHOW MUST GO ON!! 3! 2! 1!!!"

Suddenly she stopped her movements and held the mic in both hands and began to softly sing the next lyrics. Slowly increasing the tempo and volume of her voice as the verses came to an end she brought her left hand out towards the crowd and walked backwards on “3”, “2” well counting down the numbers on her hand and finally twirling around on one foot at the final lyric with her hand making the number one in the air.

"CHANGIN' MY WORLD!! Draw a new dream that will never change!" "CHANGIN' right now! Whatever you'd like, when you're READY! CHANGIN' forward! While I chase after a new future, I'll be more and more like myself, so I can make my dream come true!"

Now fully dancing with her whole body with well practiced steps Lyre smile brightly as the crowd began to stand and chant her name louder then before. Because of their energy Lyre couldn’t help but give the audience a air kiss and wink at the near the end of the current lyrics causing a few of them to cheer even louder causing her to smile even wider.

Lyre still had plenty of energy as the song was coming near its end do to her starting out at a slower pace then most would have. The audience seemed sense this as well as they chanted and cheered louder for her to share that energy with them. Lyre of course obliged them as she planted her both of her feet and tossed the mic into the air then spinning around a full two times before catching it with her right hand well her left one in the air making the number one sigh again at the end.

As the song came to a close Lyre began to reverse the movements she did at beginning. Slowly bringing her full dance to just a sway of her body and left arm. Eventually to just her arm swaying to just her holding out her hand towards the audience as the spotlight dimed and the music faded signaling the end of her performance. Lyre closed her eyes and breathed deeply, exhausted, as the crowds cheers faded. She bowed with a “Thank you everyone” as she left the stage to the waiting room.

“Well at least you did your best, that’s all what anyone can do. Isn’t it?” she said to her self as she found a seat. Closing her eyes once more and slowly breathing to calm her nerves as she waited the results.

The large LCD screen in the front of the waiting room lights up, with numbers flashing across it.

Successful Applicants:

#102

#285

#360

#512

#615

#616

#720

A young female voice cuts over the P.A. system of the hall.

"To those who have been chosen, congratulations. To those who have not, do not be disheartened; there will always be another chance. All successful applicants, please make your way to the stage presently. That is all."

Kagari

Kagari's heart stopped as the screen lit up. It missed one, two, four, beats as she scanned the list. There it was. #285. Her. She had done it. She had been chosen. Her hand involuntarily shot up to her mouth, as her legs threatened to give way. Tears welled up in her eyes. She had done it. Now she had a chance to accomplish her dream. Placing her hand against the wall to steady herself, she stood up and started walking toward the stage. All around her, girls who had not made the cut were sobbing. Some were staring at her with barely concealed anger. Some were consoling others. One was crying hysterically into a mobile phone, exchanging a flurry of choked words with someone on the other end. Some were applauding her with smiles, smiles that framed their wet eyes.

At that moment, Kagari resolved herself. She wiped away her tears. She would make sure to fulfill her dream, to achieve success. Both for herself, and for the sake of those she had inadvertently trampled upon to reach this juncture. Looking straight ahead, she walked back onstage with pride.

Ringo had just finished getting a soda from a nearby vending machine when the results were posted. The drink fell from her hands, her eyes widened, her breath stopped to a halt. Then she jumped as high as she could. "YES, YES, YES!" She shouted loudly in joy. This is a sign! I made the right choice. She picked up the soda from the floor, shook it and opened it spraying the contents into the air. The girl spun in circles as she did, and the other girls around her spread out. Stopping to catch her breath, she noticed the frowns on the other girl's faces. Even a few glares or envy and disdain. "Cry. Me. A. River." Ringo said with a mischievous grin. She threw the soda can in the trash, blew the other girls a kiss and walked towards the stage. Well, skipped is a more correct word for it. Ringo's feet almost never touched the ground!

Her first step on stage was with her right foot. Her grin was wide and happy, and while she would never admit it the edges of her eyes contained the smallest of tears. The intoxicating feeling of being on stage. Ringo would be having a lot more of it again...

As soon as her number flickered across the screen, Hiroki let out a "YES" so loud she flinched at her own volume. Still, she couldn't help jumping up and down, making high-pitched, indeterminate squeeing noises of sheer delight. She wasn't sure that her gamble would pay off but oh was it satisfying. She skittered off as quickly as possible toward the stage, half-dancing on her way there. She ignored the jealous or angry looks directed at her; well, more accurately, she didn't notice them.

Ruri wiped her face with a small towel as she walked away from the sink in the bathroom. As she walked through the halls, she heard an announcement being made over the intercoms directing everyone towards the LCD screen in the waiting room. So, she immediately made her way back through the hall and opened the door. It seemed a number of the applicants had already seen the results as there were applicants with a myriad of reactions all over the waiting area.

As she walked up towards the LCD monitor, she could hear her heart thumping. It was as if the nerves had been hammering away at her body. So, scanned the monitor while repeatedly fluffing her hair and eventually found the magic number, 616, on that list. At that single moment, her heart skipped a beat, then beat super fast, and then began to slow down.

As tears of joy began to fall from her eyes, Ruri simply stared at the screen. Noticing her tears, she immediately wiped them away with her sleeves and gave a small smile that gave both an aura of warmth and confidence and she made her way back to the stage area. As she did, she displayed that smile to the girls who were looking at her with expressions varying from scorn and jealousy to sadness. With that, she turned her head forward and made her way onto the stage.

Lyre stood there blinking at the LCD screen in disbelief. There it was, #720, her number. Lyre brought her hands up to her face a she felt the tears beginning to form. “I made it? I really made it!” she said over and over as she leaned against the wall crying tears of joy into her hands. After a few moments she slowed her tears and heart rate down with a few deep calm breaths. Wiping the tears from her eyes she looked up with a smile full of joy against the sounds of sadness and looks envy that would have normally caused her discomfort, but Lyre wasn't paying any attention to that at this moment. Breathing deeply once more Lyre walked out onto the stage once more to start her new life.

Satisfaction showed on Gunther's face in the midst of faces that had tears of either joy, sorrow, disappointment, rage, or all of the above-- if there was anybody that bipolar, anyway. It didn't show, but her heart had been hammering away in her chest. It was only a few minutes after going through the stupid claustrophobic hallway that she realized that she did care about whether she'd be picked or not. But now that that turning point had come, that threshold passed... It felt like nothing could stop her. Not even something as trivial as the glares of the other sad saps bothered her as she headed back to the stage.

And for a while, without her realizing it, she didn't even care that she was back in the closed spaces of the hallway to the stage. She felt good.

On the circular stage, a single young woman was awaiting the new idols. She looked to be in her middling twenties, with long black hair tied back in a ponytail, and clear glasses set upon a narrow nose. Her irises were a deep, dark brown, framing an angular face. She wore typical office attire: a white button-up blouse accompanied by a blue pencil skirt. Her feet rested in a pair of reasonable heeled shoes, and she carried a clipboard in her left hand. Seeing that all the new idols had arrived, she cleared her throat and spoke up in a soft voice.

“Congratulations to the seven of you, you have successfully passed the auditions. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Akayomi Himiko. You may call me Himiko. From this point on, I will be working with you as your Producer and Manager. I will be in charge of planning your venues, planning your concerts, planning and managing your schedules, as well as promotion and advertisement. If you’ll please…”

Her voice trailed off while she gestured towards a long table set up behind her. Upon it was seven stacks of paper.

“These are your contracts. I’ll need your signatures on both forms.”

Kagari

Kagari looked blankly at the piece of paper in front of her. It was covered in legal jargon and difficult language which was way beyond her. Shrugging, she ignored everything it said and skipped ahead to where she had to sign, leaving her signature with a flourish.

SIcpnkc.png

Then she set the contract aside and read the other piece of paper, the release of liability.

This one was much easier to understand. Some parts of it disturbed her, like the bit that released YUSAPro from any form of damage, including… Physical and mental injury, and death…?

Kagari raised her eyebrow. Exactly what kind of training did idols undergo…? She decided to pay it no mind; it was likely just a legal formality. Besides, she could not find it in herself to care; she was going to be an idol! She would gladly sign anything for that chance. Giggling to herself, she signed again on the Release of Liability form and handed both sheets of paper back to Miss Himiko.

Ringo gave a quick read through the documents. Glaring at the woman, she tried to read her intentions. Somehow Ringo felt like she was selling her souls. But how many musicians before her had had to sign something like this? She twirled her pen thrice then put pen to paper.

Sba005X.jpg?1

She grimaced at her own handwriting. This was the kind of thing her teachers spent years nagging about. Maybe if they hadn't nagged so much, she would have worked to get a better handwriting. Or maybe not at all. And while she put her real name wherever it was necessary, she signed as Star. I came up with the name in the spur of the moment but I'm better of using an alias. Ringo handed the papers back to the woman and spent a few moments locking eyes with her. She then backed up to let the other girls to sign the papers.

Hiroki was so excited. She skimmed through the first document, seeing nothing too unusual. She slowed down for a moment, however, to write her signature, making sure her hands didn't shake while doing so.

lsCBfoo.png

Afterward, she penned in her name on the indicated line. Switching to the other paper, she gave it another cursory read and was about to sign it when she stopped. Hold up, death? With a frown, she went back and reread the document, actually making sure she read every word. Uhm, why do I have to waive responsibility for them KILLING me? This is kinda weird... but I don't think I'm getting another chance at this. Besides, if I die my fans will make sure I get payback~. She signed the waiver, still wondering to herself about what rights she was giving up.

Ruri picked up the contract and began reading every word. It seemed a bit stringent but she had frankly expected that being an idol would probably be like that. It had what she expected to be all of the typical employment contract elements so the contract did not seem to be an issue. She then picked up the liability waiver. As she read through it, she raised an eyebrow. This is quite a self-serving liability waiver. They've covered their bases really good…do I really want to do this?

She closed her eyes and pondered for a second. No. I'm not going to get another opportunity like this. I have to seize this opportunity and not let go! Besides, I know the terms of the contract now. I can find some loopholes if need be.

With that, she scrawled away at the papers leaving her signature.

Lyre slowly read the first paper, though for the most part she didn't understand most of it. The only part she felt weird about was the part where it mentioned "other duties may arise"."What other duties could there be? I hope its nothing risque or something." she thought to herself as she signed the first paper.

post-40169-0-83512900-1432092750_thumb.jpg

Reading the second paper Lyre tilted her head to the side in confusion at it. "Why would they be worried about me blaming them for my death? Its not like I could doing anything about it since i would be dead. Hmm...I guess its just covering there bases or something. Though it makes one wonder what they could have use doing that lead to death anyway." Lyre thought as she finished reading and signed the form.

Everything seemed pretty standard.

... Except that the bits about agreeing to not hold the company liable for anything bad that happens to her as well as giving up certain rights. Her hand twitched. For a moment there, it almost felt like she her hands were being tied behind her. Almost literally. Maybe figuratively. Didn't matter. Imagining agreeing on such terms irked her, really. But that feeling of being praised and adored... Damn it, why'd I let myself get talked into this?

Kerrigan, if you give it a shot, then maybe, just maybe--

She cut the memory short, with an irritated and brief sigh and with a few flicks of the wrist as her fingers held the pen.

((Since I'm short on time, my response is gonna have to be cut rather short))

Arya honestly wasn't expecting it when the LCD came to life overhead with the announcement. Right there, plain as day, her number, 102. She couldn't help but smile a bit. Maybe all those passing compliments she had gotten singing on the streets had been true. Either way, it really didn't matter right now; she would finally have a real job, with a real payroll... which meant she could stop probably stop having to live off of cheap cup Ramen. Not that she ever complained about it, but... one could only eat the same damn thing for so many months before getting tired of it.

Her brief moment of rejoice was shattered though when more than a few of the many girls in the waiting room began to break down in various stages from the announcements obvious implications. "I wish I could say something to them right now, but...if I don't hurry..." It was either stay and be nice or pass up the opportunity to have a better meal ticket than she had in a long while.

And as bad as it might have made her felt, she made her way to the stage.

* * *

The contract seemed rather straightforward for the most part as she read it over one last time, making damn sure to memorize the terms. The standard thing really, nothing that popped out at her as immediately suspicious. "Guess it's...safe so far..." She thought as she signed away on the dotted line. "The whole 'sudden termination clause' thing is a bit worrying though... but it's not like I'm going to be doing this forever anyway..."

Arya turned the document over and flipped to the Waiver next. And she couldn't help but feel her heart beat just a bit faster as she processed the text. "Why... why would they even need something like this?" Her hand hesitated over the page. "Death? Physical and/ or Mental Injury?" she wanted more than anything to be able to reach into her pocket and stare into the fire, but there was no way she was going to do it in public, with so many watching. "No...no, don't think too much into it right now... it's probably nothing, probably just cautionary legal stuff or whatever they have to do... Damage control and stuff..." She barely bought it even as she thought it, but she still moved her pen along the line... and then handed the stack back.

Once all the girls had turned in their contracts, Himiko smiled.

“Thank you very much. Now, all idols have to stay in one of our company’s artist dormitories, for easier coordination of scheduling. You can all go home now and pack your personal effects, then come to the Hope Complex tomorrow morning. You should know where it is, it’s easily the biggest building in the city. Once you’ve all gathered, we’ll ease you into your new accomodations and we can get to work.”
