1. Yeah, entries are still open until the end of the year (EST). You're fine to join!
2. I'm giving away my geezer side, but I've always been enamored with the Mana series, ever since I was a kid. Secret of Mana is one of my oldest vivid memories. They just do such a good job of making cool, whimsical worlds, likable characters, and making really big moments that elicit powerful feelings from me. Especially Legend of Mana. Even though it's a more disjointed "many small episodes you can do in any order you want, if you find them all" style, they did a really good job of making each one, every little outing you do, meaningful. And even with that disjointedness, they manage to make overarching stories and connections between characters you wouldn't expect, and they really work hard to make every character appreciable for their role, whether or not you 'like' them in the end. The gameplay isn't normally very challenging, but they manage to make the boss fights really engaging anyway, with big, bombastic enemies and attacks, and powerful boss music. It's really more of just the spectacle of it, than challenge in and of itself. I think that's quite enough gushing for now.
3. I got a new phone and a case for it, socks (I was down to 3 pairs left,) a facial hair trimmer, and some cooking utensils. Then I got Gurumin on Steam, and one of my friends lent me some money so I could gift some people while my bank issues get sorted out. That last thing was the most important to me.
4. I would love an Arcanine. A huge soft puppy I could have as a valuable friend and as transportation, who also doesn't take any guff. And would probably be the cuddliest thing ever.
5. Oh right, I was doing this now. A bit late; sorry! So, when I started putting together the team for this event, I had some really specific goals in mind, and it wasn't until I had them all met and organized that I realized how low tier the pokemon ended up being. I had no intention of picking a specific tier to roll with; it just kind of ended up that way. Anyway, without further ado, the team for this tournament will be: Muk Meowstic (M) Bastiodon Bronzong Cacturne Armaldo Take your time to plan out how you wish to build each of these pokemon, and try to anticipate how you'll handle facing the same pokemon as opponents. Plan for as many or as few layers of anticipation and counter-anticipation as you want! You need to PM me your move sets before moving forward (or post it here, but that'd probably not be good for your health,) and after I've gotten that PM, we can proceed with qualifiers. Also, with the way things are looking right now, the qualifiers are just gonna be in name only. Your performance in them won't actually disqualify you. That's because there are so few participants. I'm only keeping them so you have something to do before New Years when the final entries are closed and you can start your tournament matches. If it stays at 6 or fewer participants, I'll either do everything best 2 out of 3, or just double elimination. Or maybe both. Finally, I apologize for the double post, but it's been a few days and it's pretty important information to alert the participants to, so I wound up feeling warranted in it.
6. So, in recent news, the prize money has received a significant boost! Additionally, I'll release the pokemon list at the end of the day (midnight EST) on the 25th. Qualifying matches can then begin as soon as I receive your move lists. As a side note, it would be in your best interests to send them to me privately, rather than posting it here! I'll also request (but can't really enforce, I don't think) that entrants do not spectate qualifying matches, for fairness. Entries won't be closed until the start of next year (also midnight EST) as that is when I'll open the entrants up to their tournament matches. Don't forget the ultimate rule: this is all for fun! And money, but the fun is more important, I think!

8. Decibel Purple 2 It's about time I brushed off my fighting spirit and got back to business! As with years past, I'm less focused on making a team to win as much as I am focused on making a team representative of myself--This time, the theme is that of the native warrior's spirit.
9. Maybe, I'm not sure. Ultimately it's just a team building exercise on a restriction, then a battle against me before a tournament. But it's not going to be a big all-at-once event; it'll all be at the leisure of the participants. I might not enforce the rule about fainting enough pokemon to qualify if there aren't a lot of entrants. I just wanted to chime in and spark up something neat for people.
10. 1/2/2016: The tournament has begun! Entries are officially closed! You can view the score card here! --- Hi. I've recently returned from a very long absence, and after watching some League matches recently, let's just say I've rekindled my fighting spirit. So, to get myself back into practice and get acquainted with some new people, I'm painting a giant target on my chest. Here's the deal: I'm hosting a tournament, and the prize is all of the rupees I own at the time of the tournament's conclusion. I spent a little bit when I came back, but I've still got a decent amount, and I'll assuredly have more by the time this is done. --- Naturally, it's not going to be just a normal tournament by any means. The main rule of the tournament is this: Everyone will be using the same six pokemon, chosen by me. You won't know what those pokemon are until a specified time, and it is entirely up to you to decide how to build and utilize those pokemon. The pokemon in question are carefully selected to promote interesting strategy and ample room for creativity. Naturally, entrants will be asked to provide their chosen move lists and items to me privately to prevent circumstantial adaptations. Oh, and the other thing. The tournament will have a qualifying round, and the way that round works is, you must battle me, with a separate team of my choosing. Note well that it is not designed to counter the assigned team, and also that I am too big of an idiot to utilize advance knowledge of your moves and items. To advance into the tournament, you need only faint at least three of my pokemon. Nothing I'll ever choose for a team will be above UU, so you don't have to be concerned that I'll just trounce people with a crazy team. Qualifying matches will be carried out at the entrants' leisure; this won't be just a consolidated event carried out at once. (Besides, if i had to do a whole bunch of qualifying matches right in a row, I'd get pretty exhausted!) --- "Hay, why are you bothering with this, anyway?" Uh, the main point is just to get myself out there and interacting with today's active people. It's been 3 years since I've been here, and even more since I've actually been active. A lot has changed around here as well as in Pokemon, so I've got some catching up to do. ...Either way, who are you and how are you talking inside my post? "BECAUSE REASONS! *RUNS*" ...Saying *runs* out loud didn't magically make you disappear. Please stop interrupting me. Anyway, as I was saying, this whole event thingy isn't exactly super formal or anything. In fact, I'd honestly rather keep it as casual and social as possible, for reasons I've described. I'll open this up to discussion for now. Let me know if you want to sign up, tell me that I'm dumb and my ideas are dumb, or whatever else you'd like to discuss. And now that I think of it, if you'd like to donate to the winnings as a sort of bet, I wouldn't object (and I'm sure some higher-ups could ensure I don't commit any foul play with the money, if trust is an issue.) --- Entrants: cosmosvoid Pixlization Chubb Mr. Divergent wytch Odybld Cobalt996 Pineapple --- Update: Entries will remain open until the end of the year (EST). From now til then, you may submit your teams and conduct your qualifying match, HOWEVER, due to turnout, they will not actually disqualify you. I'd like to still do them as a formality and for something to do until the 1st, though. Just as an opportunity to see what you've come up with firsthand. And on that note, the team everyone will be using will be: Muk Meowstic (M) Bastiodon Bronzong Cacturne Armaldo The terms of the tournament will be decided once entries have closed, and will be based on the final entrant count. PM me with your team's moveset; these may not change once your qualifying match is conducted. However, items, EVs, and even ability will be up to you to adjust as desired.
11. Thanks, everybody. I'm glad to be back. Once I'm a bit more experienced with the team I slapped together and iron out some issues, I might go attempt that league thingy. Back in my day, you had to do all of them in the correct order, with none of this tiered stuff. Glad the leaders are still fairly interactive, though.
12. Hello. I used to be here and in older iterations of the community some amount of years ago. I let myself go astray, for one reason or another. Anyway, in the last year or so, I've changed who I am drastically. Personality, mannerisms, identity, and so on. It's not quite that I've become something that wasn't there before, it's just that I've taken stock of everything I was, had, and stood for, and realized how much of it I no longer agreed with. What I did with that realization I still think was a mistake. I took everything I didn't want, and I got rid of it. Those things are no longer present, except perhaps in some mostly-dormant form. The problem was, I needed some of those things, because I hadn't quite fleshed out a proper replacement. So I've been left feeling incomplete instead of more fulfilled. I don't know if that makes any sense, or if that's even relevant to my returning. ...Anyway, uh. Pokemon, right?
13. Save your breath. By this dude's insistence I'd bet he's already run off forever when it wasn't all given to him 5 minutes after he posted it.
14. Mashew or Hyperlisk, join me! The veterans shall reign as the once and present kings.
15. This is assuming that we're making speed a factor at all.
16. The correct answer is to either not be the majority, or do it to get into a field that is less soul-obliterating than working at a grocery store, regardless of whether the (IMO irrelevant) monetary total value of your life ends up higher or lower. I've never worked a job I didn't love since I got my degree.
17. I argue that not augmenting Chandelure's far above average defenses by improving its bad HP is a fatal mistake, and that giving it 252 HP may well alleviate its inability to survive an Earthquake all on its own, as well as the multiple other types it's weak to. It is more sound to think of this pokemon as a faster, special Dusknoir that needs to compensate on defense, than a bulkier, special Arcanine that needs to compensate on speed.
18. Hyper, you and I, even though I don't think I ever actually talked to you in the day, need to form a returners' union. <-- Manowar
19. *shrug* I'm taking Laura's side for the benefit of the league. If Sigmund is truly as personally destructive as he's being portrayed, I'll be the one to make sure he stays in line. I'm not a fan of laying down the law, but I'm not letting some little prick screw up another league.
20. There are going to be some serious knuckle sammiches next week. And I mean serious. Dynamic, even.
21. If you ever end up in the Dream World, randomly put my Nidoking there trying to master Earth Power by like levitating a chunk of earth or something. Even if he's just kinda left in the background and never interacts with anything.
22. @ Wolf: 2. I used to run a Speed Boost/Protect Yanmega, it was nice and all, but it severely lacked the killing ability the rest of my team had. So I gave it Tinted Lens and Choice Specs, so now it can really bust heads with its damage, and if they switch in something that my chosen attack won't work on, Tinted Lens will make it as effective as neutral. Ever seen a non-boosted NVE move kill a dude? 3. Yeah, Bullet Punch is a lot of fun, but Steel has grown to be a type I cannot rely on any more. With my set I aim to find a lot of types that can kill many different things, as well as capitalize on No Guard. I have considered bringing in Revenge or somesuch for psychics (you should know how much SD this dude gets by now,) but it's tough to say goodbye to Earthquake, after how many times it's saved by ass. And as for Bulk Up, most of the time I find him up against shit that he could never survive two hits from, even if I did boost his defense. So I just use him to absorb one blow and send it back tenfold. This is more or less what I've tailored the whole team to do, with certain cases being more or less extreme. 4. Jellican't handle my Yanmega, you mean? 5. With Arcanine being my only pokemon who can survive and fight for several turns in most circumstances, using a move that nerfs my own stats sounds pretty fucking stupid, tbh. Bear in mind that my team is generally slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow as hell, and my speedsters are incredibly important. 6. Earth Power (SD drop), Thunderbolt (paralyze), and Ice Beam (freeze) all benefit from Sheer Force, giving him the same trifecta of power and type diversity he used to have, with a total focus on SA, and a power boost all across the board. Except Sucker Punch, which is just there because fuck yeah priority.
23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCRy5yR7uo4 Very... mystical.
24. You're the top dog here, go ahead and make a Like button.
25. I thought you might have been here! Where the hell do you get off? ...Manowar? Why are you here!? A certain psychic pokemon came and asked me why I wasn't coming back in the new tournament. Do you not remember what I told you? Hah. You didn't tell me shit. You just disappeared one day and left behind some scribblings on a piece of paper. You don't have thumbs, dumbass. I was leaving to get more powerful. We both knew that despite my performance, it didn't measure up to what it needed to be. So, what then? You were already as powerful as you can get. I was the one that saw to that, remember? Maybe I was as powerful as I could get. In this world. What are you on about? Are you pretending you're a Space Nidoking now, or some shit? Nope. I'm talking about dreams, bro. Sheer fucking Force, anyone? My special moves do as much as my Earthquakes now. ...That strong? What the shit. In fact, I've become a total special attacker, thanks to Earth Power having an effect for Sheer Power to feed off of, too. But what about Sucker Punch? How are you gonna deal with your speed? I still use it. Having priority in general makes it invaluable over any other options for a fourth slot, even if my Attack took a huge hit. Welp, I'm sold. Fuck the badge I already got. Welcome back. Bitchin'.
