  1. Am I the only one that remembers that there are Pokemon with 4 abilities? Both Rockruff and Chandelure have 4 abilities. How will they work with these changes? Can I never get dusk Lycanroc anymore?
  2. Firstly, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so if I've made a mistake could someone tell me where I should post this instead. Secondly, the reason I'm posting this is that I'm trying to look for other fangames to play while I wait for Reborn to finish, as well as for when Sword and Shield is out. I would prefer suggestions for finished Pokemon fangames, but I won't turn down any suggestions for any fangames still in development. Outside of Reborn, I've played Rejuvenation, Raptor, and Pokemon Brown. Overall, I liked Rejuvenation, so I will be playing it some more when it's updated again. As to Brown and Raptor, I did not like either that much. @Venonaut97 I merged your thread into the pinned "Pokemon Fan Game Recommendations [Community WIP]" thread. for finished fangames there's Uranium, Spork, Insurgence, Pyrite, Gray Topaz almost finished: Legends of the Arena (next update seems like it'll be the end), Empyrean (next update will have the E4 and postgame) I probably forgot some.
  3. The thing that bothers me the most about the loss of the National Dex is how unnecessary this controversy was. Firstly, as people such as Vinnie have noted, Nintendo/Gamefreak already had the HD models of the Pokemon, so clearly they don't need to make that many more models. Obviously the problem has to deal with the fact that the Dynamax forms of the pokemon are separate models, which moreorless doubled the number of models that would have needed to be in the game, which means that the National Dex couldn't be added. That said, the unnecessary part of this controversy isn't that Dynamaxing shouldn't have been added, but rather that it could have been handled in a much more efficient way. The best solution that I can think of that could have been done to avoid this controversy would have been to scrap the "big" aspect of Dynamaxing, but keep all of the other elements. As such, Pokemon still gain power when in Dynamax form, they would still gain new moves (and maybe new animations?), and would still be limited by the 3 turn rule. In this situation you have still kept all of the interesting concepts of Dynamax Pokemon without having to add the poorly received aspect of giant Pokemon and the subsequent need for new models of every Pokemon. This solution keeps all of strategy of Dynamaxing, so the mechanic will still remain the same as it was before. The trade-off of this being that Dynamaxing and raid battles will look less impressive, which is a small price to pay imho.
  4. Thanks for helping me, Purple. I hope you enjoy the shiny krabby.
  5. I'll give you a yamask and a shiny krabby for the 2 fossils.
  6. What do you want for them in return, Purple?
  7. I'm currently trying to collect all of the fossil Pokemon, but am having trouble finding them all. I am missing the root and skull fossils, and am wondering if anyone is willing to trade me them or their reanimated counterparts. I currently have an extra helix and claw fossil, so if someone wants them in return, I'll happily give them up.
  8. @Zander I will admit gyarados is the better sweeper due to attack power, 125 atk is much better than 90 sp atk, as well as in terms of how easy it is to set up. The only areas venomoth does better in are: having access to free hits via sleep powder, giga drain for healing, and having tinted lens to prevent bad type match-ups from ending the sweep. While these are great traits, they still don't hold a candle to gyarados's higher damage output and ease of setting up due to its bulkiness. I'll also admit that I did a poor job of trying to make my point, as I focused more on venomoth, and less on the idea that the game could already be broken. As to addressing how the game can be broken, I will give some examples of how venomoth and crobat already do this. Firstly, using venomoth I have managed to partially or fully sweep Corey, Shelly (once), Aya, Noel, and Radomus. Noel was very easy, as I was easily able to buff venomoth by using sleep powder to cover him. Radomus was a lot harder due to having the type advantage, but I still managed to take down 4 (almost 5) of his pokemon using only venomoth and crobat. As for Crobat, I was able to take ~85% of the giant steelix's health with crobat (think lax incense, confuse ray, and lots of double teams). Using the same tactics, and poison fang, crobat was able to take down ditto arceus by itself (Did this in 3-4 tries). Based on these cases, the game can already be broken, so adding gyarados at this point probably wouldn't be too much. Now, if you really want to worry about really breaking the game, I would worry more about getting the ability to mega evolve or having the z crystals.
  9. That's nothing. Try dealing with a plus 6 quiver dance venomoth that has tinted lens. Not only will it wreck things with bug buzz, but tinted lens will double its attack power if used against a Pokemon that resists it. Sure Venomoth can't take hits, but if you can't outspeed it by that point, then the battle is already over. The game could already be broken, you just had to know what to look for.
  10. I commend you for your dedication to this tradition. The main reason I didn't do this in reborn are shiny Pokemon, which are too valuable in my opinion to lose due to tradition. Btw, I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just pointing out how you're the better man for not caving in for things like shinies as I do.
  11. My traditions in Reborn and in the canon games are: a. No crossbreeding (This blurs the line between individual species based on movepools) b. Never use legendaries for competitive/serious battles (Essentially I occasionally use legendaries against wild Pokemon post-game) c. Pokemon "inherit" the names of their counterparts from previous playthroughs/games d. Only use male Pokemon, except for all female species (All of my friends are guys, and I wanted to mirror that in Pokemon) e. No fairy types (Mostly because I don't like a lot of the fairy types, and partially because I feel that their typing is OP) f. Only use normal Pokeballs (Reborn kinda forced me to not follow this one)
  12. In every game we capture Pokemon, fight the evil team, and become the champion. While many other Pokemon fans play through the exact same game as you, what sets your experience apart are your choices. What Pokemon you use, what strategies you use, and what habits and traditions you follow are what make your playthrough unique. Much time has been dedicated to discussing Pokemon and how to use them, but there isn't nearly as much talk about people's Pokemon traditions. What I mean when I talk about Pokemon traditions, are that traditions are things that you have consistently chosen to do or not to do in your playthroughs. This can include things like never using fully evolved Pokemon, never using items, ect. Keep this in mind when posting your traditions, as I don't want to hear about that one time you did a Nuzlocke run, unless you have consistently chosen to do Nuzlocke runs. edit: While always using a certain Pokemon is a tradition, this isn't really the kind of thing this topic was meant for. Saying things like "I only use [insert type] Pokemon" or "I only use Pokemon I haven't used before" are fine, as they don't boil down to "this is one of my favorite Pokemon, therefore I always use it." In other words, I don't want another "these are my favorite Pokemon" topic chain.
  13. Another Pokemon that goes underappreciated in my opinion is Ariados. One thing I will note is that Ariados only has a base stat total of 400 in Gen VII (it was 390). Despite this fact, Ariados makes up for this by having an excellent movepool at its disposal. Firstly, Ariados possesses a signature move known as Toxic Thread, which not only lowers the speed of all adjacent opposing Pokemon, but poisons them as well. This is further complemented by Ariados having Venom Drench, which lowers the Atk, Sp Atk, and Spd of all poisoned Pokemon. It also has access to Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch, which will help cover its abysmal speed stat.
  14. Coming in at a base stat total of 450 is Venomoth, and if my name doesn't already give it away, I love this guy. I haven't seen much love for this guy, which surprises me for a few reasons. 1) It has tinted lens, which doubles the power of ineffective moves. While this won't let you sweep, it certainly will allow your Pokemon to handle a wider range of opponents. 2) In Gen VI, it learns psybeam at lv 25, which will allow you to abuse Corey's team a fair bit. 3) Also gets sleep powder at lv 29 in Gen VI, which makes it even easier to abuse Corey. Sleep powder also never misses on the swamp field. 4) Venomoth's pre-evolution, Venonat, has compound eyes. This makes finding wild Pokemon holding items even easier. 5) It is the third/fourth fastest Pokemon that can learn sleep powder. Only jumpluff outspeeds it, while it is tied with Roserade and Lilligant with a speed stat of 90. 6) Venomoth also learns quiver dance, which raises spd, sp atk, and sp df. This combined with sleep powder makes it dangerous on the battle field. 7) Can be bred to have morning sun, which makes it even harder to take down. 8) It's other abilities Shield Dust and Wonder Skin can prevent additional effects of attacks and reduce status move accuracy, respectively.
  15. One thing I've noticed as I've looked through various sites and articles about what "good" Pokemon to use in battle, is that some fairly "good" Pokemon are rarely or never mentioned at all. For that purpose I figured why not give some of those underrated or underloved Pokemon a moment to shine. As a quick rule, while you may reference stronger Pokemon in order to discuss strengths and weaknesses, I do not want any strong Pokemon to be the main topic of your post. Just to make sure there isn't any confusion, strong in this case refers to any Pokemon with a stat total greater than 450 500. I also would like to ask that people try to focus more on posting about their underrated or underloved Pokemon, than trying to endlessly debate someone over another Pokemon. Edit: 450 was probably a bit too low, 500 is probably a nicer number.
  16. After reading the comments I have gotten, I'd like to say the following about what I wanted. 1. This isn't supposed to be the kind of feature to be added while the story is unfinished. This is very much something that should come last. As to why anyone would want it, there are 2 reasons. 1) Other trainers can have their Pokemon out, mine just sit in balls. 2) Feels awkward for my Pokemon to love me, since nothing I do should be bringing them any happiness in Reborn. At least with walking I can sorta believe this. 2. Delta species was a reference to the card games, so not really plagiarism, unless we want to label every freaking detail of this game as plagiarism. That said, if this is left out, I wouldn't care too much. 6. This is a literal example of something that needs improvement. It takes away from the flow of battle, and shouldn't take too long to solve. 7. By Pokerus indicator, I meant something that would tell me if a wild Pokemon has it. I know about the little marker on caught Pokemon already. My problem is that Pokerus is insanely rare, which is made worse by the fact that you will likely never attempt to catch it. For me, for every Pokemon I do catch, there is like 100-150 I don't catch. 9. The weather app idea was in anticipation for the upcoming change to the weather system. Under it, different areas can have different weather. 10. I didn't know swarms were ever in Reborn. That said, Pokemon have to appear somewhere. Honestly, it's probably easier to just do swarms, instead of making entirely new areas for them to be located. Also, as a response to Alistair, it doesn't matter much to me. These were suggestions, I didn't spend too long writing about them, I simply wrote down what came to mind. People like commander had good points, most of these features are either difficult to implement or are unnecessary. I would rather someone tore my ideas apart, then for someone to pretend that my ideas are perfectly fine. That said, I don't completely agree with every comment I have gotten, hence my follow-up post. If people still tear me apart, then that's that. This is how you weed out the bad ideas, until all that's left are the good ones. Update: Thanks for the note Alistair, I'll try to keep things more organized
  17. While surfing the Reborn forums, I saw a lot of cool ideas for additional mechanics and concepts for Pokemon Reborn. However, a good number of the discussions involving ideas for mechanics have long since been locked. While there are still discussions open, I don't want to hijack someone else's topic by shoehorning in my own ideas or opinions. As such I have started my own topic in order to cover the ideas/mechanics that I would like to see implemented. Here is my list for the top 10 ideas/mechanics I want to see in Pokemon Reborn. (Not in order) 1. Walk with your Pokemon (This isn't anything new, and while there are mods for this, it would still be nice for it to be added at some point.) 2. Delta Species Pokemon (Rare variants with alternate typing and moves. Essentially like shinies, instead of stand-alone species like Alolan Pokemon.) 3. Customizable Character (Difficult to directly implement, so it would probably work better to have something on rebornevo for this) 4. More Organization Options (I like an organized bag, and while the current system is okay, I would love some more freedom in determining how my bag is arranged.) 5. More Registered Items (Make pressing the use registered item button pull up a list of up to 4 registered items.) 6. Streamline Stat Change Messages (Condense or reduce messages. Double battles and multi-stat affecting moves can be a pain due to text) 7. Pokerus Indicator (It's hard enough trying to find a Pokemon with it, let alone realize that it has it.) 8. Shiny Pokedex Sprites (Let us see our shinies, without losing the ability to see sprites for previous evolutions in-game.) 9. Weather App (Weather and fields are a big part of Reborn, so it would be nice to check the weather going on in Reborn across the various areas) 10. Swarms (Just like in HGSS, where some Pokemon will appear on a random route every day. This will likely help with getting all 700+ Pokemon into Reborn) I know some of these are hard to implement, namely 1, 2, 3, and 6; but, I think it would be a nice way of showing what that the fans can continuously go above and beyond with their creations. This is not to say Ame isn't doing a good job, as I love Reborn much more than the canon Pokemon games.
