  1. yes. probably for the last time today though; some blissfully scant hours more work, and then, my brothers, then i can finally waddle home and get a few hours of the heavenly sleep. Micky, whats the context of your icon?
  2. ah, Tempest, one day you will too memorize the sleeping schedules of every single person in this thread. soon 555 posts Micky, whom, coincidentally, I predict! and i'll never get over 200 'cause i never leave the arcade
  3. Musical... Movement? this seem oddly appropriate. naturally, the tetris song 'cause i'd wanna know what that would look like you're in a small cave, more like a crack through the mountain than an actual cave, there's barely enough space to sit, and you wish you could light a fire 'cause it's cold and getting dark. but you can't. because there's fucking dinosaurs outside that cave. appropriate music? and ninja'd again... sigh. for arkhi's
  4. what a lovely thread! and i got ninja'd twice writing a reply 'cause people keeps calling me so sry for lenght so starting with Arkhi: the ocean breathes salty with modest mouse i think would suit... in a passive-aggressive way, hah Sr.F... "Myself" as in you, or me? as for you, honestly, i tried to do a little stalking to find out something to base an impression on, but you don't even seem to have an introduction post! so i'm gonna go with the who's 'who are you' 'cause seriously, make an intro post dude so we can get to know you! tempest made one with over 2000 posts under his belt, or mountain of gold or whatever. it's not too late also, happy belated birthday! and Zumi. did you know that the blonde elite four member in X/Y is named Zumi in the jp version? anyway i don't know much about you. you were kind of the first member who's name i remembered 'cause you do 3d, and your "what you like about yourself" post stood out to me and... you like haikyuu!! but honestly i'd have to suffer from memento-style memory loss not to notice. but you seem very approachable and sweet and i'll probably always associate you with the land of the rising sun 'cause anime, so earth is doomed and you're being shot out in space in a solo capsule! while you're waiting for the mothership to beam you up and you're just kinda floating around in space, watching the barren earth, what would you want to play?
  5. that's harsh, Juu. relent a little. think about all the pain i go through to not drag this thread through the mud again by bringing up the one thing i know about your icon on the topic of body parts im gonna keep guessing Tempest in the hope he'll stay in this thread if he just gets guessed a lot 'cause that worked out so well for Sohn der Höhe
  6. this has been a public announcement personally i don't think there's enough Juu to go around. we should send a finger to that one lab in china so they can make us a legion Tempest?
  7. once upon a time, i had the stupendous pleasure of getting to know Frank, the parrotlet. Frank was an absolute charmer; lived off fruits, fingers and apparently also human dreams since she was quite insistent on constantly waking me up. but despite being able to fly freely in a large house and not having any obvious stress-syndroms, she suddenly dropped dead one morning, leaving me indicated to agree with Viridescent, more out of shock from Frank's ultimate demise than anything else. my experience with birds is scarce; limited to Frank and chickens, but my experience of pets overall says this: the more intelligent an animal is, the better pets they make. and also, please avoid breeds like grey parrots (which are wildly popular for their intelligence); that humans hunt them to keep as pets is endangering the species in the wild. i think cockatiels sounds like a good choice! you should be looking for long-time companions, and they seem well-adapted to captive life from what 15 minutes of google could tell me. im happy you're getting 2too. as long as you can afford annual check-ups – that's my requirement for when I'm gonna be able to get a dog; live a year in the same country, and $3500 in emergency founds if god forbid they'd get sick. i was gonna write something useful here but due to rambling i forgot what woops
  8. right again! you've got a knack for this, oh mysterious overlord the amount of dragons in this thread is increasing at a worrying rate. will next be a dragon too? whoever lives will see
  9. there's only one one thing left to do; dissection u up, Juu?
  10. they have a dog at my job, his name is cookie and he's a toy poodle and he's gonna get me fired because he's ruining my discipline. the owner calls him "my son", which is a great indicator of a decent human being. but viri clearly you haven't had a cat. i thought dogs was the only light in my life until i got cats; now i swing both ways. u should try it im gonna work, get some sweet cash and then hopefully travel somewhere should dogs be implemented at every daycare, school and retirement home?
  11. that sounds like the drug i strive to be. I raise the Tempest. Say, my spirit, How fares the king and's followers?
  12. while you're at it, could you implement a mute function, Micky?
  13. oh my god micky. reboot it! i don't understand how it could get that bad, how many magne-bots did you install, over 200? there has to be something corrupting the system somehow and viridescent i can't believe we're talking about you and still you have yet to show up. viridescent next, the power of your ego compels you.
  14. last five years? i've hardly seen any movies made in the last five years, and most of those i did see, i didn't like much. i guess mad max - fury road, because it was perhaps the most beautiful thing i've seen on a movie screen. mommy and gone girl was alright too. i need more indie in my life. between "new interesting knowledge" and "really good food", which one brings you the most happiness?
  15. 69 is terrible i mean how damaged is the viridescent unit? have you tried turning it on and off again? refilled the mango juice? updated the pun software? if it runs out of upgraded puns it will seriously malfunction, i'm telling you it'll go straight up HAL on you. micky, gimme a status report
  16. they changed the design and thanks god for that, because this is fucking atrocious. i don't wish for it to be deleted per see, i just of wish it hadn't looked like this in the first place.
  17. First of all - u fessed up the links gurl! The links end in 400.png. i had to change it to 1280.png to enjoy the images in their full magnificent glory. second of all, don't listen to Viridescent; he's an accountant, they're disingenuous by nature. anime style and cal-arts is where the sweet sweet cash is. third of all, it's critique time. this is gonna be long, so grab some tea or a smoothie or smth and settle in. starting with strawberry gal. with a name like "raspbels", i'd think you'd stick to raspberries, but oh well. the colors are lovely! fantastic hues, they go very well together, and i love the mixture between the styles too – did you draw the strawberries as well? 'cause their different-colored greens are quite possibly my favorite part of this picture. i think that just the sheer beauty of the colors and the lineart lets you get away with a lot. her face is quite simplistic, and the anatomy is questionable (more on that later!), but thanks to the clean lines it looks like a stylistic choice. it's almost cheating, haha. Anyway, on the anatomy: the biggest issue are her legs. where did they come from? where did they go? cotton eyed joe. why are her calves as long as her entire torso and face? i get the feeling there's no stickman sketch under all those folds, patching her body parts together, and it should be. As for the torso, it's mostly good, there's just a lacking sense of direction – it doesn't feel like the neckline (which otherwise looks great) "points" the same way as the rest of her body. If her waist was as defined on the right side (my pov) as it was to the left, that would also help a great deal to angle her body. and since the legs and face makes it look the torso should be more angled, the left should be less visible; shorter if you may, just to sell the effect more. the arms are good, great length and thickness, the line could have gone further down on her right arm, as much of it as it's covering, but again your beautiful lineart makes this hardly noticeable (argh!) then the wings. they're mostly okay, but what's going on up with her neck? are the wings joining up behind her head? do they grow from the top of her neck? what's going on?? the overall shape of them is quite pleasing thou. and her face! ah, my achilles heel, my greatest weakness, the darkness to my ghost-typing: anime faces. They're so onerous to criticize because so much of it boils down to style n druthers; "oh it's not realistic to have eyes covering a third of one's face? suck it up" That being said. Her head needs to be bigger, and the face smaller. anime or not, there's no way anything resembling a brain in there, and if you look at the width of it, imagine where her ears would be. a face isn't supposed to end at the ears. The eyes... i almost feel like the picture would have looked better with both eyes closed, because her one open eye is sort of creepy. i'm out of my depth with this 'cause i don't know what kind of style you're going for, but if I had to take a stab, early Ghibli? Consider making the pupil larger and rounder, less goat-y, and add some specular to it. this is a bit later in style, but look at this handsome, handsome Howl and steal the fuck outta it. okay next one. as always with my critiques, i do one picture properly, then i run out of energy and half-ass the hell outta it his hair looks great! i wish my hair looked that great, haha. but his head is too small, again. and his eyebrows sort of look like they're lineart remaining, but the glasses are super neat and i like the design of them. i think. i don't actually know much about glasses, but they look nice! i have 99 problems with his neck, but it's one of those anime things, isn't it? to have necks like they have been decapitated and then had their heads put back on their bodies on poles? sigh. anime and their impossible beauty ideals; i wish all anime was about crudely drawn penguins. the anatomy of this guy is kinda all over the place. im gonna go in raw on this one and im already feeling sorry about it, but!! before i do that i wanna remind you that your lineart is delightful and you have a fucking fantastic sense of color. like, you made his skin tone match with the blue lines in the background, shoes and jeans. that takes skill. but you need to start using references for anatomy, study, study study!! you got what it takes and your progress has already been balls, this is just the next step. i recommend looking at naked ppl and just drawing what you see, there's plenty of references for that on the internet; if you want to, I can find you some, tell me and I'll pm you links – even if it's not porn, and most have underwear I don't wanna tempt the rules of this site more than I already am. okay, here we go. his legs are too short for his body by quite a lot, and I don't feel like I should be seeing his shoes quite that much from above. the knee is bending like it's made of rubber, and we should not be seeing any thigh-gap on this guy when one leg is casually put behind the other. the leg behind him is significantly thicker as well, at the top, it should be the other way around, and his crouch should be more to the left (again, from my point of view). he doesn't look like he's standing on something. again, the torso looks like it should be angled, since the face and legs seems to be, but isn't, and due to the upper arm being thicker then the lower arm, we should see more of the right upper arm. his right palm should also be longer, but the fingers look good! if you bend your fingers like that I feel like the lines of his hands should be visible too, but that might a stylistic thing; and you really nailed the position of his thumb. as for the other hand... i don't even know. the angle of the hand compared to the wrist is really good, but he doesn't look like he's actually holding his waist; the entire palm should be on it, and his fingers are like, waay too short. The outer line on top of his hand is good, the outer line on the bottom of his hand should be higher. phew. okay last picture. please don't leave the site!! again, really nice colors! especially on Julia's hair; that's a really nice shade of green! both their hair, overall, is really really nice. Julia's eyes are also my favorite so far on a character of yours. The critique on this one is just... pretty much what I've said before: too small heads, too long necks. But I really like the flower in the background; you have talent for mixing arts. do you know the artist sakura-rose12 and her webcomic dame daffodil? (it's very short so far, you can def get through it all in 15 min). I feel like she's what you should be looking at, because she has all your trademarks: beautiful lineart, a great sense of color, hard shading, but she's taken it one step further. Look at how she shades skin and works the anatomy, and her simple, yet effective clothing folds. And please keep us updated!! even if you'd abandon this site entirely otherwise (but you know... please don't), keep the thread alive, 'cause i wanna see your progress.
  18. the critique fairy is here. knucklecrack first image, NICE COMPOSITION! And nice perspective on Mega Lucario's face/arms. I can dig that she actually has an armpit too, that's something many ignore, and Skeleton is right – you do draw fantastic hands. However, there's some issues with the proportions. Starting from the bottom, if you have to "cut off" a drawing of a human, it's better to do it above the knee than just at the feet, composition-wise. Her legs could use some definition too – i appreciate that she has knees, but if you gave them a little indent just below the knee lines, and made the thighs sliiightly thicker than her calves, they'd look even better! as such But nice hips, i like her outfit, and her little pouch. Her.. loincloth could need some wrinkles, here's two easy tips that more or less suits your art style http://sivaimp.deviantart.com/art/Easy-folds-tutorial-1-433416966 http://sivaimp.deviantart.com/art/Learn-Manga-Basics-Pleated-Skirts-425363368 http://sivaimp.deviantart.com/art/Clothing-and-Folds-Tutorial-543588852 coolbeans. I think her pouch belt should be straighter too, on account on how belts work, but it has a neat pattern. and then we have her cleavage. As an avid connoisseur of... mammary glands, i'm happy that you seem to have found out where they are supposed to end, but – they start too high up. breasts should not start above someone's armpits unless there's some serious push-up going on, and in that case, they need to be rounder, because push-up. you'd think this wouldn't be hard to find an example off, but trying to google a reference i now feel like i need copious amount of alcohol to go on with my life. anyway now, to be honest, i the tapering, and waterdrop shape of your drawing is much better than what's going on in this example the example here, but i there's something about manga art that gives me the feeling that im looking at 10 year olds with e cups, which just gives me jeebus, so I couldn't find a better one. point being, keep the position, keep the shape, just make the cleavage start lower and i promise it will not make her chest look smaller, just more like mangos and less like aubergines. again, love that she has armpits. the other arm should also start where the armpit starts, but aside from that her arms are fine. Her face too, actually! She has a good expression. her hair is a bit weird, but as it looks better in every other drawing, i'm letting it slide. Mega Lucario is fine. Just... a really good drawing. i have nothing to say about it. next! actually im out of time for this, so im just gonna dump some random thoughts on the other drawings 'cus I should have left ten minutes ago. HEr shoulders in the Gardevoir drawing!! so good. Her belt and pouch too – that's how the pouch is supposed to sit! good job. she could get some highlight on her (enormous) hair, but aside from that, fun drawing. you are really really good at drawing Pokémon overall. Both Goodra and Lapras look very much like the official thing, Goodra's eyes and ears especially are fucking fucktastic. Ivory's hilariously short lil munchkin legs sitting on Lapras cracks me up thou. her expression on the second Gardevoir piece is great. short thighs there too but it took me a while to notice 'cause her happy face endeared me. Cain is incredibly adorable, and i can practically hear the "heyyy gurrll" also. abs. Fern appears to have dislocated his elbow, but his expression is great, and so are his glasses. also, good cropping! 'kay halloween is over. i hope you didn't mind the harshness of it all, but you do have a sizable talent for this, so keep going, keep posting and draw draw draw! im gonna try to keep up with this thread.
  19. i thought that was about pokémon at first and was confused. the real question, Juu, is whenever all 20082 members here will be invited to your wedding. three dead (and reanimated with fully functional brain functions) people you'd wanna have brunch with, and what you'd make for them?
  20. intelligent humans. pachycrocuta, because gigantic fluffy hyenas are all i want from life let's presume rebirth is a thing that will happen and time is non-linear: where, when and what gender would you like be reborn as?
  21. Why, are you under the impression that i don't like to be associated with phallic imagery? i missed that it was supposed to be tentacles. My bad. But Viridescent, why would you feed the masses of people that apparently already think Goodra's succulent flesh and luscious tail has some wanton quality? I certainly didn't need to hear phrases like "freshly protracted" "back tentacles" "glistering with slime" in relation to any Pokémon. I'm going to have nightmares about Mega Yanmega. In any case, back to the subject on hand, the man of the hour, the good, the bad and the let's-get-ugly: Ubi mors ibi spes, Viridescent. But even I can tell that this thing will suck to bring down. It might even function as a defender against the mega naga; the Krishna to Rayquaza's Kaliya, would the next generation bring enough overpowered mons to bring it back to the mortal realm of ubers. For some reason I get the impression it's designed to partner with Magnezone; whatever I got such an outlandish idea from beats me. Ubers has always irked me; it's supposed to be übers, it's pronounced completely different! Shape it up, Pokémon metagame. holy shit @ dat coverage. Personally i think its biggest weakness will be its punchable face; it would vex me greatly to lose to something looking that self-righteous smug. But you design too small. This would even look like an official design, it it wasn't for the clutter. Here's look at some of the blotchiest current Pokémon designs: post edited because i forgot to include these I'm just not going to stop telling you this, so you might as well soak it in, haha. It's like it's a mélange between your own, detailed style and the simplicity of the official art; a hodgepodge that flatters neither. The ruffle of his feather boa as well; too much too small. I can't for my life trick my head into thinking the red wing is supposed to be slightly behind him; the shading makes it look like the lighter parts are close to me. And the middle crest should be less visible behind his head. Nevertheless – i actually like this design overall. The idea behind it is plausible for a Mega Togekiss, and i like the split colors of the wings, the idea of a boa-cape, how its ears evolved, legs evolved into "flippers". The front legs strikes me as unneccessary, design wise, but overall it's solid. Obligatory 'yaay turnaround' to prevent you from stop doing them.
  22. Religion and me is like one of those friends you look back on with a lump of nostalgia lodged behind your suprasternal space and you think "we could have been dating, but it just didn't happen." i was close with a priest when i was young – not in the way priests has gotten a reputation of being close to younglings. this priest is female, soft-spoken, drives a harley davidson and moved in with a guy she's not married to less than a year after she buried his ex-wife – for a while, i lived with what roughly scrapes the parameters on the definition of a 'cult', and i've read the bible more closely than i sometimes suspect actually religious people has. And i do believe there's bigger fish out there; forces of nature and physics, too enormous for the mortal mind to wrap around. Energies, perhaps even souls. But the idea that those things are sentient seems to me like a terrible invasion of privacy rather than a comfort. The universe is so vast and paramount to compared our existence, and the time we live is so exceedingly short – even if a sentient life-force existed, why would it care if i passed a beggar 2 bucks? I think that on the big whole, humanity itself is insignificant, piss in the ocean, i just can't imagine there's a divine being wasting it's time on us. And if it does, first of all, ew, secondly, welp, i'm screwed. Which sounds like a pessimistic approach, but i think there's a peace in knowing that in the long run, there isn't anything my life is set out to accomplish, so I'm free to do whatever I like with it, within the boundaries of the society i grew up in. There are, however, things that i remain agonistic about; the aforementioned soul being one of these things. There are stories about re-birth that have a scientific value; many enough for them to count. Of course, i cannot ignore that they push a certain narrative because they have motive to do so; a discordant number of the stories seem to occur in countries that at large support rebirth as a theory, or have emotional reasons for it – dead husbands reborn into their kids, dead sibling re-manifesting in newborn ones – but alongside ghosts and the stories not following the common patterns – i'm not excluding it from the realms of possibility. But it's not up there with "water is blue because it reflects the sky" either. So as the sun sets and the birds travel north and all that – i'm not religious because it doesn't tickle my scientific outlook enough. And the state of religion, especially Christianity, for all it has become today, saddens me – instead of evolving as a moral code, with all those actually significant stories about virtue and respect, it's a segregation. I think we could still have a benefit to religion if humanity at large just acknowledged it for what it is, as i've seen members of this community do, instead of pushing an agenda with it. I don't think religion at large has outlived it's overall purpose just because the early guesswork has received logical explanations; I think that at the bottom, it's a framework for living our lives with decency towards nature and other human beings, and the stories were just fables to begin with. as such. im sorry for using your quote out of context, but it's a good one. All that being said, Viridescent, you are what they call an old soul, no?
  23. boys and girls of every age... hearteyes. look at that. it's my baby. Juu c'mere
  24. this is so ridiculously overdue. i think it's bloody shame goodra wasn't dragon/poison to begin with: it lives in a fucking swamp, c'mon. Or at least dragon/fairy, look at it, look at goomy. but before the critique, im just gonna get back to you on some stuff, i've been meaning to do this but i keep forgetting to add anything else when im just looking at the 'mon. I remember saying quite clearly when I drew noivern that it was a casual sketch, with no effort on lines whatsoever. This is a more concerted drawing, hence the improvement that you doubtless seem to have noticed. So comparing this with noivern isn't the best gauge if my performance capacity, but I take the compliment regardless. to be honest, i wasn't even looking at noivern or any drawing it particular; it was just the first one that came to mind after i couldn't remember how to spell 'hydreigon'. Mega Yanmega has compound eyes that wrap around its head like goggles–– out of curiosity, how large it it? because yanmega is already ridiculously monstrous; how deep into of a steven king novel would place this thing? actually nevermind im not bothering to go further back in this thread, so without further ado: the colors are gorgeous. i'm frequently on about how you work your magic with ink; today, i clutched my pillow closer to my chest and thought to myself: how the hell does he do that with crayons? Viridescent, i haven't had my nails painted since my little sister did them for me when i was 12, i've turned down several offers from professional nail artists that i've somehow gotten chummy with, but if you offered to paint my nails, i just might take you up on that. but while the control of the medium might be near perfect, there's stiff you could work on when it comes to application. goo like this should have huge blow-out highlights, like the ones on top of his ear, all over; the current lack of them makes it look like the slime is rigidly solid, like icicles. highlights are also what marks creases in slime, not shadows as hard and black as those are. i feel like a soft body like this should have more subsurface scattering around the edges as well, like the spears has. there's also something about the colors, beautiful as they are, that doesn't quite complement each other; there's four major values in there, all in different hues, and all spread out over the design, leaving it unfocused, and even hard to look at. they're also very different from the soft pastel hues of the original design, but i understand if your masculinity couldn't suffer through that. and – this is more personal opinion than anything – i would have liked the spears to not be melting, like this exoskeleton structure sticking out from all the goo. the tail too... as soon as i see it, logically, i understand how it's supposed to work (and i do like that! like an akita tail ♥), but the way the slime is overlapping itself doesn't make sense in my muddled little brain. the thickness it's also weird; is it keeping its unborn kids in there? the face on the side view is fucking terrible. furrysuit design prototype 1.2, complete with side-mouth. burn it. but the top view is satisfying to see! i love turnarounds. i do. as for the stats, for all the three people on this website that hasn't memorized the stats for all competitive pokémon by heart, could you list the original stats as well in future posts? for reference. and lastly holy shit @ the amount of pornography i had to waddle though, like artax in a swamp of perversion, to look at references for goodra. no wait one more thing: on the topic of the late mr. freud's wise learnings. calling someone "weenie" is exactly the kind of thing i feel like he'd have a field day with; do you think he'd interpret it as: a) you're gay you would like to retract back to your mother's uterus c) both
  25. my bad @ long messages. as the resident pro on the subject, why don't you come next and tell us what ice cream brand is the superior, Micky?
