Since I'm still not the best at competitive battling, I decided I wanted to learn more about each tier, and I like doing Monotypes, so wynaut make a Monotype for each Reborn Leader (including Gym Leaders, Rivals, and other Monotype people), in different tiers? Anyways, this might be a little project you'll see more of, but let's get to the team already!

The Process:
Being Julia's ace, I had to pick this one.
Electrode gets Rain Dance, which means never-missing Thunder while the Rain is out, so I decided to start building around that. (Also, all three of these Pokemon were on Julia's team at some point, but maybe their unevolved form.)
And the rest came pretty naturally. I chose Rotom-M over Rotom-H since I'm using, well, rain, Galvantula for Sticky Web (for those very fast Pokemon, like another Heliolisk), and Magneton for bulk.
However, due to multiple suggestions, Magneton was replaced in favor of Eelektross. In addition, Rotom-Frost seemed to be more helpful than Rotom-Mow when it came to offense, especially since this team struggles against set-up Dragons with EQ.
Analysis:
Julia (Electrode) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Static
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rain Dance
- Taunt
- Thunder Wave
- Thunder
I needed a very fast Pokemon to set up the rain and be done with it, so wynaut Julia's ace herself, Electrode? Taunt is also very nice for other Pokemon that set up, since I usually put this thing up first every time. Thunder Wave is just there for para-hax, and Thunder is there as STAB and never misses in Rain.
Heliolisk @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder
- Surf
- Grass Knot
- Dark Pulse
This is the main powerhouse, taking advantage of recovery in the rain, never-missing Thunders, and powered up Surfs. Grass Knot and Dark Pulse are just there for coverage.
Lanturn @ Assault Vest
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Discharge
- Dazzling Gleam
- Ice Beam
- Scald
Lanturn gets some great coverage moves, and it's already pretty bulky just with HP investments! Combine that with an Assault Vest... Plus Scald is boosted in the rain. I chose Discharge over Thunder since rain isn't always going to be up and I want some more para-hax going, since I'm usually lucky with it.
Rotom-Frost @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch
- Blizzard
- Pain Split
Rotom-F gets Blizzard, which is great for dealing with Dragons, along with Will-o-Wisp! And Volt Switch is there for getting out while doing damage. There's Pain Split to heal this Pokemon some more, as well. Plus this thing has a Ground immunity!
Galvantula @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sticky Web
- Bug Buzz
- Discharge
- Energy Ball
Sticky Web is handy for outspeeding quick Pokemon like other Heliolisk, Darmanitan, etc. And, of course, Bug Buzz and Discharge are my two choices in STAB attacks. There's also Energy Ball for coverage, I guess. Focus Sash is needed since Galvantula is relatively frail.
Eelektross @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Coil
- Knock Off
- Wild Charge
- Drain Punch
The Physical Attacker here, Eelektross has Coil to set up, as well as Knock Off (cuz Knock Off is awesome), STAB Wild Charge, and Drain Punch (for more healing!)

Why is the spoiler thingy broken... I have a
there... T-T
Threats:
- Dragon types with DD will wreck this team if Rotom-F and Lanturn are gone, as Hukuna said.
- Sticky Web slows the team down, and there's no Spinners or Defoggers...
- Mold Breaker Earthquake. T-T gg.
- Powerhouses like Darmanitan can be menaces if you're not careful! Rain Dance and Sticky Web will solve some of these problems, luckily, but both can easily be taken away...
Again, I'm pretty new to competitive battling, so criticism is appreciated!
Also, next is a Mono-Grass team for Florinia, in a different tier this time, somewhere Rain and Sun are more common than Sand~
