Reborn's Official Supreme Chancellor of Hugs.
Ironbound replied to RainbowHugs's topic in General Discussion
Congratulations on your position and may you succeed in all your endeavours. -
Indubitably. Better odds if you have the Shiny Charm; shinies are rather commoner in this game.

Hahaha. I don't care about 1770 English wheat farmers' problems. Adam Smith can go and turn in his grave. Dhan?
-
Well then, before we begin, perhaps you could share your team ideas with us? You must have some idea about what to do, other than just 'use Delphox'. Based on what kind of team you want, we can offer suggestions.
-
I should not be here. I have a horribly boring report to write. Dhan.
-
TFW you know you have to write a report but it is so dry that it could absorb all your tears...

It seems that there are more plastic flamingos in the US than real ones. If it's true, as it may well be, then it is very interesting.

It is also worth noting that Magnemite is very helpful. It is readily found in the gym itself, evolves immediately into Magneton, which has some respectably high SpAtk for that early in the game, and has access to a very useful Thunder Wave + Sturdy combination that can help versus fast ghosts like Gengar. Like stated, Crunch on Growlithe is excellent, and both Pangoro and Hariyama are available to you in the alums to use Dark type Moves. Training up Croagunk is also certainly helpful. I don't know if Zangoose can be found in alleways yet, but a swift Night Slash from it will certainly help. The same also goes for Liepard, which is fast and can use reasonably powerful STAB Dark moves if you get a positively-natured Purrloin in the alleyways.

Reserving the Asterix series of comics by Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Gotta love puns.

I've been having one question at the back of my mind for a long, long time. Is that boy ever going to realise that his Pidove didn't become a Powerful Staraptor? Is his family going to hide the truth for ever? I assume he's going to train it and evolve it, since he is obviously interested in its supposed final form...

I have none. I am about the driest and most asexual person you can find. I find it ridiculous to hanker after a fictional object of desire when there is work to be done and life to be lived. Though there is a running joke which ships me with a mathematical calculator. What is your line of work/study?

TIL that Dunsparce actually has a mouth along the border of its yellow/blue face. I always that those stupid looking 'teeth' on the bottom of its face indicated its mouth, but apparently those thingies are more like chin-spikes or barbels, not teeth. Not like it matters. That thing is still useless to me.

See, unfortunately for Delphox, it's one of those mons which do not see any use in OU (or even UU) because it falls short of just about everything. It's largely outclassed by Victini, and by most offensive Fire or Psychic types in that regard as well. It has a decent defensive typing but rather bad bulk, especially on the physcial side, so it can't even reliably check things like SD Scizor or CM Clef because it takes so much damage even from resisted hits like Bullet Punch. And while its Speed is good, it doesn't match up to many OU threats such as Latios, Keldeo, and Starmie, which can revenge kill it easily. Its typing also leaves it weak to common offensive types like Water, Rock, Ground, and Dark, which in turn makes it vulnerable to many common Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Azumarill, Garchomp and anything which has above average special bulk and/or resists its STABs. Furthermore, its role as a wallbreaker is severely hindered by its weakness to Stealth Rock, as well as the popularity of Tyranitar, which can happily eat Grass Knots or Dazzling Gleams and either outright kill it or Pursuit trap it. Granted that in this particular arena you won't be facing legendaries or most Megas until later, but Delphox still can't really pull its weight too well; it can at best use a Choice Scarf/Specs set, a Calm Mind set with 3 attacks or an all out Life Orb set. In all respects it is beaten as a fire type by Infernape, which is faster and has a huge support movepool, Chandelure, which has massive power and uses Choice items better, Volcarona which is a much better booster with QD than Delphox could ever be with CM, and Talonflame which is excellent as a Revenge Killer among other things. As a Psychic type, Starmie beats it with superior typing, coverage (including utility like Rapid Spin, Recover and Scald) and power with Analytic Choice Specs or Life Orb. Gardevoir makes better use of a Choice Item once again, and can use Destiny Bond as well to be more useful, and Alakazam makes a better Revenge Killer. So using Delphox is quite the challenge, as it is simply outclassed at every turn. If you are still determined to use it, I'd be glad to offer my suggestions for what they are worth.

Pokémon Ethics: An Introspective Discussion
Ironbound replied to Ironbound's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
I have nothing to say there, because I personally agreed with that premise of dog-bowl feeding, and I too was playing the devil's advocate the first time around just to try and find some kind of explanation. It seems we can agree on this as a defect that persists in today's Pokemon society, and is an indicator treating Pokemon as unfairly as lefties or ADA previously were. So that is indeed a flaw, and a finding of this discussion. Perhaps I should make a list or master-summary of our findings. I wouldn't know. Ask Michael!- 39 replies

This is addictive. I've done this four times already, that's too much! I got me a Staryu. Fine, it seems I am stuck with a bunch of Psychic types (even though Staryu isn't one yet.) At least it's a based Analytic Mon.
-
...Huge Power? That's too broken, I'm afraid. Mega Nawile went borked because of base 105 attack and two base 80 power STAB moves and Sucker Punch. Nidoking will likely have a much higher attack stat which will be multiplied out of all proportion to end up at a jaw dropping 760+ unboosted raw attack stat. And it has STAB EQ , Pjab, A bunch of physical moves it can exploit for coverage like Rock Slide and Superpower, and Sucker Punch. Poison/Ground is not checked by much other than a few steels and floating stuff, for which Nidoking, unlike Mawile, has a good SpAtk stat and an excellent range of coverage moves to abuse. Nope, just nope. Even though this is just a theorymon, unless you're making it to be Mega Salamence's partner in crime, let's have more down-to-earth Megas.

I know what you are going through. Although I was born in the city where I am currently studying and working (Hyderabad, India), so I technically am in my home town, I did spend most of my childhood around Mysore and the Malabar coast. So I deeply miss the sea, the rain, the long beaches, the cliffs and the forests. I had many a great experience there. So yeah, I agree with Combat about that feeling of longing for a place you've spent your childhood in. However, not everything can always be as we want it to be all the time. It now, it mayn't be feasible to uproot the entire household and shift grounds, especially if you're happy and well settled where you are. Perhaps you can visit Paris once in a while on vacation, to enjoy the feel of it again. But for now, remember the larger picture innlife and your responsibility towards your parents and their expectations from you. Eventually, when you are settled in life, what stops you from returning to Paris? You're only 16, as you say. Keep hope alive! One day you'll go wherever you please, but you've to work at it. C'est la Vie, you know, and all that.

Might want to keep Mguard+Flamethrower/Ice Beam and Softboiled on Clef if you want it to be a CM wincon. Your team can absorb Poison and paralysis with the steels and grounds, and burn isn't crippling on anything other than Scizor. Unaware without Heal Bell is kinda difficult, so you'd have to give up Calm Mind or Protect+Wish and run Moonlight instead, which is kinda meh in all honesty. Besides, Unaware Clef has its merits if you struggle with set up sweepers, and drags momentum otherwise. You have Hippo to deal with even nasty things like DD dnites and SD Talonflame and Bisharp, and special sweepers are distinctly rarer here with the absence of Manaphy and most Megas, so keep that in mind :] I hope I was of some help. It seems fine to me, but of course much more depends on the situation and how you play than on the team used.
-
Oh yeah, I totally forgot that you added HP. I thought it had a natural base 91, not base 81. Welp. Anyways, I'd rather it either stayed Sheer Force but lesser speed and power, or more base stats but some other ability. We don't want more game breaking OP Pokémon, we want stuff that's fun to use. Nidoking with Attack and SpAtk Boosts would be a fantastic wallbreaker as is, and the speed is fine at 95 IMO since it can abuse Sucker Punch to beat things like Lati@s and stuff. Not sure if Sand abilities are a good idea because Mega chomp took that cake already, but yeah, I can see it putting in work with Intimidate and more physical bulk, as I said :]

Quick Claw Donphan. Quick Claw. ....not sure if that's a joke... Don't rely on Quick Claw. It really doesn't pay off basing your tactics around the proc chance of Quick Claw.
