If you lose to the Elite Four you have to start over. But if you defeated any, wouldn't it make more sense to become one yourself to make a stronger league? Ex: You beat Lorelei and Bruno, and lose to Agatha. Lorelei is removed, Bruno becomes the first E4 member, and you become second.
I have a habit of doing that, lol. But still, if you beat some of the E4 before losing, the E4 wouldn't objectively be the four strongest besides the champion.
Also might depend on whether the League is self-administered by the E4 and champ or if there's a governing body like in sports irl that approves its membership.
