infatuation rarely happens in-game wise, so destiny knot is usually for breeding

How does what work? the move? you basically go to battle without an item, strike something with it (not a ghost obvs), and steal its item. Only can do this with wild pokemon, as items from trainers will be returned at the end of battle. In the overworld, remove the item gained through covet/thief and wait for pickup to make its magic.

Get a high-leveled Meowth with Pay day and Pickup ability. Makes you rich, too.

Sofa and blanket and optionally something to eat, would be my advice for you.
