I thought Sleep Talk was Gen 1

Rest, Sleep Talk, Roar, Surf was as broken with or without Calm Mind with the old Stat Exp and no abilities.

Well, the first thing that was similar to Crocune did exist ((it was a resttalker just without boosting.)) the more thing solidfied as it came about in gen 3 or the signature that is referred to as Crocune. Also Crocune has always been pretty strong, it was solid in most of the gens and it's always been decently solid as Suicune's big gimmick. ((Mono-attacking water is still probs the best monoattacking sets.))
