      Each state gets a chunk of votes based of the population of the state, whoever wins the state gets their votes.

      I know how the system works. It's still not representative of the state. Hence I'm asking why it still exists. Ok, when the country was build, all electors needed to gather in the capital to give the people's votes. Now such a mediator is obsolette, if not harmful for the transparency of the elections.
