I personally think people just like to say "It isn't always black and white" without actually thinking about hings. If there is no black and white, there cannot be any grey areas either. Some things are black and white whether you like it or not. Yes, not all people can be classified as one extreme or the other, but there are plenty who are pretty blantantly bad people by standards of morality as well as people of the opposite spectrum. Yeah some people say it without thinking about things but I dont. Things arent always black and white, thats simply true. Ethics and morality change through time, todays black is tomorrows white and vice-versa. You dont have to pick one extreme or the other and being nice isn't always the path to be 'not a bad person'.
