  3. I've started a randomizer file, and the run is both extremely enjoyable and also really lame, for somewhat connected reasons. It's really enjoyable breaking the game, but the randomness has made the boss fights so weak that breaking the game feels pointless. <blank move> was Night Daze, so my starter Darkrai had 2 slots of Night Daze. Leer was replaced by Spore, so running around early game a lot of mons just have Spore. I found a Xurkitree with Pollen Puff and it's Beast Boosting through every fight. My Brine/Fusion Flare Jellicent learned Quiver Dance at level 22, and we (I was screensharing with a bunch of friends) knew to level it up because we saw a Gastrodon use QD and through some careful detective work figured out that Water Pulse turned into Quiver Dance. Figuring out the stupid things we can do to break the game has been an absolute riot, I am a huge fan of that element of the gameplay. The issue is that it's all unnecessary. One of the best parts of Reborn is the difficulty, and the randomizer nukes that. The PULSE Tangrowth was replaced by a shiny Sliggoo. Gym leaders' teams no longer have synergy with their fields or their other mons, and even if the leader high rolled a really good mon there's a strong chance it will have a junk moveset. The player can spend hundreds of rolls sifting through random garbage to find a few gems, and the bosses are dealt 6 random mons and have no chance of competing with the player. I'm probably gonna just start up a new vanilla run because as exciting as the experience of finding stuff was at the start, the realization that the entire game is going to be a cakewalk is a total buzzkill. I feel like keeping boss fights/leaders/etc teams constant would fix this. Thanks for all of the work yall have done, I adore Reborn and I'm eagerly anticipating E19.
  4. i play competitive mons. the ingame stuff/beating the game is barely anything in terms of time investment and is pretty dull. reborn is p great though.
  5. really hoping that E16 comes out early enough that i can get a playthrough of it done before sumo comes out. i've played through each release since i found the game in e13 and seeing the changes in every ep has been really cool but sumo's going to eat all of my pkmn time after november 18th.

  7. tauros riding got shown in the latest sumo trailer, i wonder how much gf pays attention to fan games for inspiration.
  8. eviolite, rocky helmet, assault vest, life orb, leftovers, black sludge, choice x, expert belt, king's rock, muscle band, wise glasses, metronome, shell bell (would be great for neo apophyll), safety goggles (probably should be sandstorm related. either pre desert or found somewhere in the desert), toxic orb, flame orb, wide lens, zoom lens, scope lens, snowball/luminous moss/cell battery/absorb bulb, plate alternatives (dragon fang, poison barb, etc) that aren't already in personally i rather like the game without all of the overpowered items, plates are way more interesting to play with than life orbs. eviolite could probably make an appearance this episode as well as rocky helmet and black sludge. leftovers probably isn't that good when you have access to potions either, hmm. maybe life orb is the only overpowered item in reborn. or LO/eviolite/assault vest. idk. leftovers could probably make an appearance this/next ep though.
  9. why are there apartment windows looking into the other building ._. there isn't even an alley to look into. is reborn city the haven for voyeurs.

  13. - do you plan to make super old releases available at some point? - at what point will reborn be finished/how much engame content have you planned/thought about/seriously considered? - since you don't seem like you'd like to reveal which move it is or how it works (would love to know though!), how different is it from the original effect? - who created terra's battle sprite? would they mind me using it as a custom showdown avatar? @Ame - your favorite and least favorite name change that you've given yourself? big fan of the games, thanks for making something great. i can't wait to play the rest of it!

  15. intimidate spam -> leech seed curse torterra was pretty easy.
  16. This rock has a normal gem, equipping it before your battle vs cain tilts the odds pretty significantly in your favor. Using tail whip/leer twice before using the normal gem attack is optimal I think. If you have growl then using it once is optimal I'd guess.
  17. you need to get it to level 45 with a 31 hp iv and no hp evs. if you have a low hp iv, you might need to get it up to level 50-51. for reference, the level cap at the solaris fight is 45. edit: hid imgs because garchomp has more than 270 hp Oh and on a related note, solaris's garchomp has a few hp evs, a 140 HP sawk counter left it with a sliver.

  19. Just played through this and it felt kind of weird not having it there, having played through it before. I liked the buildup and knowing meteor created this giant maze in a park with a turbo charged tangrowth. It definitely felt weird that passersby could just see the pulse machine from the street. I can sympathize with those reasons for sure. But a 2 minute event felt out of place considering every other pulse is the capper to a dungeon crawl and bashing on some meteors. Also, literally every building in the game is bigger on the inside, so idk distorting space just comes with the territory of making a pokemon game imo. The old event wasn't amazing, but this new one felt super lacking. It made team meteor look unorganized and lazy if all that it took to defeat them was cutting down a tree and koing the tangrowth.
  20. You need the BT if they have tanks, otherwise you kill yourself on thornmail. You also need it vs assassins to stay alive through their burst if they can get onto you, though with trist it's less important. Really BT is super important vs everything, but whether you get bt or lw first is dependant on the state of the game. If you have a malz to shred tanks maybe it's more worth to buy bt and stay healthy. If you have a leblanc maybe it's more important to rush lw since you're the main dps source vs their frontline.

  22. I dislike how easy the game is with bulk up chicken, I picked it on my first playthrough and soloed a little over half of the gym leaders with it, if i recall correctly. It took care of florinia, heather, kiki, cal, noel, serra, luna, samson, I think, which imo is way too powerful. I also picked it because it's my favorite starter and I would've been disappointed if it wasn't there. I realize it's not going anywhere. But it's probably the strongest mon in the game currently and available as your starter, I haven't used it in any runs since and I encourage everyone who tries the game to pick a different starter (the people I've linked it to are all experienced competitive players). I love the level cap, I was referring to the jump in Luna's pokemon levels compared to the previous trainers. I didn't notice it on my first playthrough because Blaziken facerolled that battle but in every run after the difference in levels between Luna's team and mine has made her fight seem somewhat unfair (every other fight in my opinion is pretty fair). I understand why the items are there, I just disagree with the decision to put valuable stuff that early in the game as the budget of the game seems pretty tightly controlled and then that calcium throws everything off and finding it is enough to finance so much of the game and trainers start giving out money by the time the $4900 isn't relevant to your finances (and not finding it leaves you so far behind those who did). I'd maybe put more common candies early on, or other reborn exclusive items to introduce them to the player, idk. I'm not a game designer, I just wanted to post some minor nitpicks I had with the game, it seemed like the correct topic to post them in. edit: I'd also add a prompt to save before closing, but that seems like something that would've been done if it was doable.
  23. remove blaziken from the game because it makes everything too easy (bulk up chicken op pls nerf) fix the level pacing gap around the dark gym i think the hidden items in some areas of the game don't entirely make sense. they seem super frequent (one per screen or more) in some areas, which kind of make sense in some areas (route 1 seems like an easy place to lose items), but you would think a poverty stricken, gang infested neightborhood like peridot ward wouldn't have valuable items lying about all over the place. finding a random calcium sitting in a corner which can be resold for the same value as a lump of gold didn't seem very fitting, surely someone would've noticed it and sold it for rare candy money. more frequent social media updates to let fans stalkknow how development is going big fan ame, great game. the attention to detail is so great in so many ways.
