  2. maybe this is the one thing you wanna fix? I'm just gonna assume they are at least discouraged to do so, that's a logical conclusion I came into after understanding your scoring system (like the Sparkling Aria example), would explain why Julia doesn't explode as much as I expect. glad to read so, and I appreciate you going deep into it. it is kind of important for me, like I said. there are some bits of information I never noticed, even paying this game a ridiculous amount of times back then, like the Sparkling Aria one. (I can see why the code is 42k long.) Definitely worth asking here! But yeah, everything you told me makes sense (even the cheating bit) to me, keep up the good work. uh maybe you fixed this because last time I remember this behaviour is on Victorias Incineroar, which might be a long time ago. (Which means it was post the version where Victoria used to have Emboar.) So I'm just gonna assume you fixed this "issue". d-devblog? A complete one? This will be a dream. Especially after getting discouraged reading the code. I definitely encourage you doing so. I'm sure there are other crazy ones like me. Which mean I will probably delay my plans for reborn though. But I planned the same for Rejuv so it's super duper fine. Like I said earlier, I will probably reuse this topic if I have another series of questions (it will still be kind of rare), in this case, am I allowed to ping you? Just tell me real quick because I want to respect your work on this and not bother pings here and then. (Basically what I want to do is, whenever noticing something to write it down, and if I gathered enough questions, I will post it here.) Thank you both so much again!
  3. Hello, thank your for your really fast answer and your thoughts, it's really appreciated. Didn't know the code was just available for us, lol. I guess that makes sense with all the random files there are in the games folder. I will take a look soon (but frankly, I doubt it will help, as I really suspect you have to understand the projects whole code to understand the AI-code, and then as you mentioned, 50k lines long is no joke, but I can try, I guess?) Oh man this is useful information. I already know I'm gonna get destroyed at this rate xD Blue Kaizo Um this one is quite odd then. So the AI might, in this case, differ between my, lets say, Volt Absorb Lanturn and Water Absorb Lanturn? Because that would be cheating. Also maybe you can say to me real quick, if the same applies to Sucker Punch and Pursuit? I vaguely remember a certain game cheating when it comes to these moves, but I can't remember which game exactly. Maybe even a main game. (For example, will the AI ever Sucker Punch when I use Substitude?) Thank you again. Also if anyone else has other information, it's greatly appeciated. Maybe the devs will even say something. (But oh well I won't count on it, I'm sure they don't have time at all.) I will probably reuse this topic whenever I have something new to ask about the AI.
  4. (I didn't know where to start this topic, pardon me if this is the wrong place. I'm nowadays rarely here.) Edit: Ugh, I wanted to post this in On The Hunt, this is definitely wrong. Sorry about that. Can't seem to delete this too. I hope someone can fix this.) I finally decided to do another Nuzlocke run of Reborn. But as last time, I "cheated": I had too lenient rules (too much healing allowed, and every pokemon had 2 lives) because I thought a game as hard as reborn deserves lenient nuzlocke rules. But I think I improved and I can redeem myself with a real Reborn Nuzlocke. This is just to explain what exactly I need. To even having a chance of success, I need to know how exactly the AI behaves to find consistent strats in the boss fights. So, is there somewhere a documentation on AI-behaviour? Every detail matters, and the more, the better. Maybe the devs are even ok to share their code on the AI stuff (which most likely won't be understood without looking at the whole games code, but hey, maybe I can try?) And yes, I am sure that reborn AI is way different, by my experience. I have seen so many things I never saw in other games. This is a really abtract question, which probably won't be answered, as I don't imagine there is a documentation about that. But maybe if I'm lucky, someone can give me a recap on the biggest changes. But if not, I at least want to know some information, so I will ask more specific questions from here on: Are all the bosses equally intelligent? Are even random trainers as intelligent as bosses? What about later trainers? (For my later questions, just answer them for bosses if there is different AI levels) If the opponent has one pokemon left, is he allowed to use Self Destruct/Explosion/Memento/Destiny Bond/Grudge/Perish Song? (Definitely important information to secure a win against Julia.) Do Bosses only bring their Aces out when they have no other pokemon left, without being brutefully phazed in by Roar/Whirlwind and Red Card? Might be coincidence, but I don't think I have ever seen it. And I played through Reborn plenty times. Normally, the AI in main games just bring the best pokemon against yours, in order. But lets say this situation: I have an Umbreon left while my opponent just lost a Pokemon and has Alakazam and Machamp (Ace) left. Alakazam has only moves that can't hit Umbreon. Will the AI send out Alakazam or Machamp? Does the AI have something like a.. "pity system"? I have seen so many unreasonable decisions by the AI that seem only to be there to give me a chance. For example, using move X, which doesn't KO me, other than Move Y which secures the KO at all times. (Or maybe they only behave like that if they see a small chance that X CAN kill, but not for all damage rolls? That would be actually classic, but I think reborn might have like a 10% hard coded pity system (which actually would be bad for a nuzlocke attempts when switching around to PP-Stall, for example). Can the AI remember information that it has seen through the battle? For example, if I reveal a Volt Absorb ability by letting it get hit by a thunderbolt from the opponent, and if I switch out after, does the AI remember that said pokemon has Volt Absorb? My guess is no, because in theory, you can have duplicate pokemon, but maybe yes? How does the AI behave against Substitude? For example. Gen 4 AI (max intelligence) keeps spamming status moves against Subs sometimes... Also, does it still use the strongest move against the Sub'ed pokemon, or is it enough for the AI to use a move that breaks the sub? If you have any other interesting behaviours and interactions, just post it here. What more was hardcoded for Reborn AI? (Also does Rejuv have the exact same AI Code?) I can probably test most of them out by myself, but it would be too tedious and most likely won't even guarantee that my guess was right, if I forgot THIS specific information. I really hope someone can help me with that. Have a great day. :)
  5. Hello everyone! Lately, I was wondering if it is possible to play Pokemon Reborn with a PS4 controller, as it would be very comforabke for me. I looked up for some guides, but they didn't really help me as I didn't understand them well. At least I know it is possible somehow but that doesn't solve my problwm. That's why I want to ask you guys: Do you know a good, easy to understand guide about using a PS4 controller? Or can someone write a quick desceiption on how to do it? I would really appreciate it :)
  6. If he is completely blind then yes. But all it takes go beat Sierra is slapping Nature Power on XY and pushing it 6 times then it's done xD So he just need to read the field effect.. Shouldn't be so hard. I think after this many challenges he will pay more attention.
  7. Well Ttar will continue this nuzlocke. He just says he will quit because that's how he is. So don't worry about that. Im impressed how he got past Kiki. Well my predictions were almost always wrong now but I dare say that Noel will be the next big challenge for him especially after throwing his only normal immunity... Noel could even finish him off haha. Before Noel nothing really is threatening tbh. Aya is medium at best and Sierra is a pushover. Well, if he trains up new pokemon of course. Imagine him continuing with 4 pokemon lol
  8. As for me, I really want to see how far he will go and I root for him. But I don't want him to lose desperately but I just see no real way to beat Kiki with no major casualties. Well, I mean with his Team righr now Same goes for Aya and Noel if he makes it there. However, other upcoming GYM Leaders like Sierra, Radomus (maybe 1-2 minor losses), Luna and Samson are easy to beat and if he makes it to them I'm sure he will win especially because he knows how to fight in a Nuzlocke. He knows how to try hard in battle which is crucial for doing a Nuzlocke like this. Overall the only "really hard" Leaders (in MY opinion I know everyones differ) are Noel (depends on team, a good Steel Type cheeses him hard) and Charlotte (I dare to say she is impossible in a nuzlocke with no losses unless very lucky when catching pokemon. In my nuzlocke I think I lost 4 pokemon against her and went "beat fire with fire"). So yeah he could beat Kiki but not without losses. I could be wrong tho. For Noel, well, let's hope he gets a good Normal resist. And Charlotte... yeah, tbh she will be a big challenge for him. I still really root for him and hope he somehow manages the difficulties.
  9. Yeah, pretty sure the top is blocked off. Might have been changed once but I'm pretty sure. I'm the kind of guy who wonders "what if I avoid Victoria? Will the game proceed anyway?" and tries it out. It's just in this instant where Victoria wants to battle. Then you can pass to the top again. And either AI has something seriously wrong, or EVs matter here. (Maybe Swalot has a ton of Def EV? But then again, does the AI cheat and know your EVs? I really need to test that someday, really interesting) Idk, hope it's the latter because I always enjoy reading the AI.
  10. The top is blocked off anyway when Victoria tries to ambush you. So there is no way to avoid that xD But I don't think Victoria will be a problem. He has something for every team tbh so he just has to play smart. Also this AI stuff.. That's the first time I saw this lol. Solar Beam HAS to deal more damage than Flame Charge, that's how the AI works. Man, Typhlosion's Attack is terrible. Probably bad IV too. Sooo yeah. Rip TTar against Kiki, I would say.
  11. It hurts so much how he ignored Woobat. SO. MUCH. For this, he totally deserves to lose. ..No but srsly, he might really lose here. His team is, at this point, actual trash: Jinx (if he even evolves it lol) will be outsped and one shotted, I assume. (Could be wrong tho, but in most cases it will be slower.) Growlith and Mightyena are useless. Dishsoap too if unevolved. Only Swalot and Pidgeot can do something against kiki but I can't see how he can break through her fighting spirit. Even if he Stockpiles 6 times, Medicham will finish this and can either crit or boost with Meditate. He will love the training after the blackout XD
  12. That's really impressive, props for that! I suggest you prepare some good Double Battle Mons (like Fakeout, thats op in doubles wtf) in the near future for the Doubles Battles at Amarias house and the Gauntlet. They are with no doubt the hardest challenge in a Nuzlocke. (I prepared for the Gauntlet Battles like 2 days and still lost some pokemon.) I suggest you antiteam especially the first Double Battle because losing a pokemon in the first battle is more dangerous than when you two in the last battle. Maybe that's obvious for you but I still like to give Nuzlocke hints. I just love nuzlocking too much xD (I'm the kind of guy who even tries to no hit sans from undertale)
  13. No one would blame you, there were indeed people who Nuzlocked Reborn successfully (like myself). Just know exactly what awaits you so you can counterteam everything and don't play with normal Nuzlocke Rules and add some newer ones to make it actually playable like: -You may breed an Egg from the Day Care exactly one time (foe the Mystery Egg) -Static Encounter should count in most cases, as long as you don't farm them (like getting 20 Vanillites). This rule seems making nuzlocking too easy but for reborn, I think this is fine -Heck, if you really want to enjoy the nuzlocke, every pokemon can have 2 or 3 lifes. I should try this one someday, then maybe I won't have 2 boxes filled with dead pokemon xD The key to winning Reborn Nuzlocke is just antiteam everything. It's gonna be tedious sometimes but that's really the secret. So you gotta know the games well.
  14. Or the Spiritomb which tanked EVERYTHING. Now he has a weak ass Doublade as his tank? Nice, gets even KO'ed by a Growlithe
  15. Well, yeah, you are right about that. I like that Pidgeot even less. He really should train more these pokemon in the Box. He has a frikkin Mareep and doesn't use it. That's so sad. ;(
  16. Wow. Ok, I'm so surprised he managed to defeat Shade with no losses. (I don't count that stupid bird.) Kiki was more useful than I expected. That's because I expected a Discharge from Rotom to actually OHKO Kiki and that Cruncz barely misses the KO on Rotom. But I swear after each Episode Ame changed Gengars Attacks. I swear he had Shadow Ball first, then Shadow Claw and now he has Shadow Ball again. But I really miss the old Shade. Who remembers Spiritomb?
  17. I am so stupid. I meant Gourgeist not Pumpkaboo lol. But didn't he had Gourgeist at some point? Or was it really just Trevenant and my memory is just trash? I can remember Trevenant but he had a Gourgeist once right?
  18. Shade has changed indeed I'm 100% sure. I was around since Ep9. Can't remember what exactly but what I can remember is his Gengar being nerfed by changing Shadow Ball to Shadow Claw. Also his Pumpkaboo and Mimikyu are new additions. But I think it was changed way back in E14 when Gen 6 was added. I just remember clearly that in my very first Playthrough he was the second toughest GYM Leader I have faced. Edit: same for Dhelmise and Doublade? Man I always forget these things.
  19. So as far as I understand, he will not train up new pokemon soon? Ok guys, it was a nice nuzlocke, but Shade will totally finish him. Rotom and Mimikyu are just too big of a threat for his team. He should thank god that this is nerfed Shade. Maybe he will survive with, like, 2 pokemon tho if he is lucky xD
  20. Any Ghost type takes the Hyper Beam and other pokemon like Scraggy can take Dark pulse. Maybe even multiple pokemon who normal resist Dark. But I agree it's hard to even reach Abra. But just sayin'.
  21. Tbh Abra is not as hard as you might think. Reborn AI has its problems, and it really is noticeable when facing Abra. Just play the switch game until Hyper Beam PP is 0 and take a pokemon who takes Dark Type Moves very well (Pangoro for example) and a Ghost Type. As I noticed through my many playthoughs, the AI will always (or in most cases?) go for its strongest move in singles (or pick a random move between all the moves which KO the opponent) when ignored setup moves, which Abra doesn't have. So switching between a Ghost Type and Pangoro is enough for dealing with Abra. Also maybe a death fodder if Pangoro gets more damange than anticipated. After Hyper Beam is gone, Pangoro solos. Someone explain this to TTar pls xD Do I remember right that Abra only has these 2 moves?
  22. By the way. Imagine him reaching the EL vs Radomus scene, choosing Radomus and losing to Arceus. He will think this is an optional battle and then he will black out and lose the Nuzlocke. This would be SO hilarious to see.
  23. Ok, so here are my thoughts about the upcoming GYMs: Shade: Kiki can't solo this and I can see Rotom totally beat him. Also Ghost Type is generally really scary. If he is lucky he could beat him with 3-4 losses. Kiki: She is scarly, and he has nothing against Medicham, even in his box (besides Swoobat but he will never train him..). Sooo unless he uses Swoobat or gets a good encounter, he is totally gonna lose this. Sierra: Well, thats the most luck reliable battle in the game, and he had plenty of it. Has access to Nature Power and thats really enough to beat her. No problem here. Noel: Totally gonna lose this. I remember my 2nd run. I had no Normal resistance. It was a nightmare. So it really depends on him bringing a normal resist. Either he gets Magcargo at Pyrous Mountain or something good at Amethyst Cave. Can't remember when Aron will be available. And nooow I notice my predictions becoming a little too crappy. I can't predict his future encounters. Whoops. But seriously, he should get all the Statics he can get (he skipped some).
  24. Someone else said the same xD But it's clear that everyone has different opinions and it also depends on the Team and knowledge. I played the games several times, know what Moves they have and so on. Also, I was really deep into competitive playing and I can read the Reborn AI really good (and its easy so switch on Shellys Attacks). So that might be why I find her way easier than Shade for example. (And Shade might really finish TTar off, his Stabs are stro g and Kiki alone can't do that as he lacks the speed to Moxie sweep and can't take hits well at this point of the game. He really should work on his Team and get some encounters.)
