If you could make your own mega evolution...
Cepheus replied to Lord Chespin's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
Jericho you got Time Paradox wrong: PREPERATION and CHARGE UP have +7priority, and recharge turns are -7 the attack itself has normal priority! Examples: 1) M-Espeon uses Solar Beam (lets ignore that it doesn't learn it for now) while the opponent uses a Quick Attack as priority move Solar Beam charge up turn would be +7, the attack itself +0 - the enemy Quick attack is +1 so that wpuld be the turn order: Priority +7: "M-Espeon stores sunlight" Priority +1: Opponent uses Quick Attack Priority 0: M-Espeon uses Solar Beam 2) M-Espeon uses Hyper Beam and opponent uses Quick Attack as priority move Turn order: Priority +1: Opponent uses Quick attack Priority 0: M-Espeon uses Hyper Beam Priority -7: M-Espeon recharges after using Hyper Beam Effectiveley it just gets rid of the Charge-up or Recharge turn itself by using it in the same turn! The way I designed the ability (with the priority system) is for moves like Dig, Fly, Phantom Force etc. - those get a +7 Priority on their preperation turn, making the using Pokemon 'invulnerable' for the turn, unless one of those special moves is used, or the opponent uses negative priority moves, or is just slower Examples: 1) M-Espeon uses Dig, M-Alakazam uses Shadow Ball (as I mentioned from Base Stats M-Alakazam is still faster then M-Espeon Turn Order: Priority +7: M-Espeon digs into the ground Priority 0 (speed advantage M-Alakazam): M-Alakazam uses Shadow Ball - Shadow Ball misses Priority 0 (speed disadvantage M-Espeon): M-Espeon uses Dig! 2) M-Espeon uses Dig, M-Alakazam uses Earthquake (again lets ignore it doesn't learn it) Turn Order: Priority +7: M-Espeon digs into the ground Priority 0 (M-Alakazam): M-Alakazam uses Earthquake - Earthquake hits with double power! Priority 0 (M-Espeon): M-Espeon uses Dig 3) M-Espeon uses Dig, M-Alakazam uses Counter[-5 priority] (Gen.1 TM - ha! take that!) Turn Order: Priority +7: M-espeon digs into the ground Priority 0: M-Espeon uses Dig Priority -5: M-Alakazam uses Counter However - yeah a 170 Sp.Atk Hyper Beam that only uses one turn hurts a lot... -

In competetive play - yes - but not in normal play. If I had this move in Reborn - Reborn wouldn't be even challanging anymore, except maybe Charlotte and Serra because they can't be frozen with Fire and Ice-types edit - 2 more Dragon moves: Dragon Fang Type: Dragon Category: Physical PP: 15 Power: 75 Accuracy: 95% Effect: The user attacks with sharp Dragon Fangs - more powerful than other Fang-moves. 20% chance to decrease the opponents Defence by 1 stage, and 10% chance to make the opponent flinch. Dragon Storm Type: Dragon Category: Special PP: 15 Power: 75 Accuracy: 90% Effect: The user concentrates it power, creating a heavy storm around itself that bursts out into all directions - hits all battle participents except the user [like Surf] -

way to OP with a 100% accuracy! give this to a fast Pokemon, like Mega-Alakazam or Mega-Mewtwo - and freeze the entire enemy team. Freeze is the most powerful status condition of them all, because it totally negates everything the frozen Pokemon does... except using Fire-type moves or Scald/Steam Burst (or whatever Volcanions signature move is) - and 10% to taw itself is very low... The only Status moves that have a 100% accuracy are paralysis moves (Thunderwave, Glare), and Toxic if used by a poison-type with an accuracy of 60% it would be bearable... -

I'm still torn if I should give it a shot or not... When it first appeared on the frontpage of my anime-site of choice and I read the description I thought: "oh... so essentially it is the movie 'Edge of Tomorrow - Live.Die.Repeat' in Fantasy-Anime form... well if they start every episode with him waking up back there, because he died in the last one, this will take a bazillion episodes to finish..." and as you guys already said - the MC is the only one that can receive actual character development, because everyone else just forgets all these other "times", because they never happened - so they are set back to square one. And I guarantee, there will come times, where the MC will commit suicide because he screwed up - and frankly I don't think that would be a great thing to watch, giving the message "yay suicide! now you can try again!" (espacially after some heavy conversations here on the forum...) In the movie "Edge of Tomorrow" the story only progresses, because there is another person who had this ability, and therefore believes the protagonist If there is no one that believes the MC here in the anime... well: "Hey, lets take that path, on the other path waits a giant monster that will kill us!" "yeah, right..." 5 mins later - RESET - killed by giant monster repeat... forever... Even when the MC find the 'fastest' way to deal with people... he might end up in a situation, where he just gets stuck because, no matter what he tries, his companions might end up getting him killed. so either - the MC just doesn't care for his companions anymore, at some point and just continues solo - because "hey no matter what I try they end up getting us all killed - as long as I stay out of their business, I might survive and DON'T have to repeat the same days over and over again, and might get out of this mess..." or he goes bat-shit-crazy and well... does bat-shit-crazy stuff... and yeah - as a Anime wathcer- watching essentially the same episode over and over again, because of MCs deaths, would get boring really fast... -
Now that Captain Breakfast mentioned it... I'm totally gonna name miine "Shai Hulud" - 'the Great Maker', 'The Worm who is God', 'The God Emperor of Dune' ... god, now I want a new Dune RTS...

Ok granted Cyrus didn't want world domination... ha wanted UNIVERSE Domination... and what will Box Legendaries do? Ask Ho-oh and Lugia - both are box legendaries and didn't do anything in the main plot... neither did Mewtwo or the legendary birds (who aren't actually box-legendaries) I liked the Gen.1 and 2 premise that those Pokemon are actually not part of the main plot - you had to search for them, except Crystals Suicune who you run into multiple times in the story - and the beginning of the plot relevant Box-legendaries... Even Team Rocket with Mewtwo didn't really seeked the power of a Legendary... THEY CREATED ONE for their purpose, which in the end, they couldn't control. I mean we had to LOOK for them - Legendaries are supposed to be the rarest Pokemon in the world - yet they get shoved in our faces every damn time! How can they retain their status as rare pokemon when we encounter and CATCH them as PART OF THE STORY! If you defeated Arcticuno, Zapdos or Moltres in Gen.1 (without saving prior to fighting them) THAT'S IT! THEY ARE GONE! Now we get these scenarios: here is a legendary catch it! ... or... defeat it... but we really want you to catch it - so have another try! - and again... - HEY KID YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO CATCH THIS THING TO PROGRESS THE STORY DAMNIT!... ugh finally you threw that pokeball... - CONGRATULATIONS FOR CATCHING THE HARBINGER OF DEATH! YAY *toooooot* *party!!!* - now continue with the story... -

You know, regarding the evil team(s) - for once in a long time - I wish the evil teams ambitions are NOT bound to the Box-art legendary! every Evil Team had build their plans around a legendary Pokemon, most of the time the Box-Art Legendary ... EXCEPT Team Rocket in Gold/Silver! Gen.1 - Team Rocket + Mewtwo = World Domination Gen.2 - Team Rocket just wants its leader (Giovanni) back! (thats why they experimented with all those radio waves etc.) Gen.3 - Team Aqua and Magma + Kyogre/Groudon respectively = stupid plan to increase Sea/Land for whatever reason (most likeley World Domination...) Gen.4 - Team Galactic + Palkia/Dialga/Giratina = World Domination Gen.5 - Team Plasma + Reshiram/Zekrom/Kyurem = World Domination (while being hypocrites about the whole 'freedom for pokemon stuff') Gen.6 - Team Flare + Xerneas/Yveltal = Destruction of humankind for a re-start with a chosen few (Team Flare - Lysandre playing god) - and therefore World Domination... DAMNIT GAME FREAK IT GETS OLD! Evil Team + Legendary = World Domination seriously if you bring that again... ... just give us something deep and emotional like in Gen.2! Team Rocket was desperate, falling apart - they thought guidance in their former leader, who abandoned them after his defeat by Red! They didn't need any power of a legendary to accomplish their goals, and the power of a legendary wouldn't have helped either... ... ... well if they had found a way to completely control Mewtwo - who knows, maybe... but... gah! Just stop with the World Domination plots! -
I CALLED IT! I got that information out of you guys! Ok... I was wrong with the typing (I said bug because of the blind Cavehopper or something...) but I got it out of you guys that at least 1 Pokemon would be blind!!! Ok - and now I'm actually reading it's description edit - after reading the full announcement: (if you dare to doubt me calling it) So it appears more common during rain, and has abilities around water... and it is based on a earthworm (in german they are called Regenwurm - Regen = Rain so screw you english language!) So my guess would be that it also evolves during rain ... OR with a WATER STONE! Since no Ground Pokemon evolves during certain weather, and only Nidorina/Nidorino evolve with a stone (and a Moonstone at that) - bringin water into a ground Pokemon seems very special and unconventional. and on that note I make the vague guess that its evolution will be Ground/Water type! tiny edit nr.2: thanks for this announement right then... I was really starting to get bored just then, becuase all I see in my twitch following list is Dark Souls 3 and I just can't stand it anymore... xD

Cepheus replied to Lord Chespin's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
How about some Eeveelutions? Mega Espeon Type: Psychic Ability: Time Paradox (new ability - multi turn moves now only require one turn - putting preperation and re-charge turns at the very beginning [priority +7] or at the very end [priority -7] of the turn) alternatively: Magic Bounce (boooooring - there already 3 megas with it... - but nothing else really appealed to me...) HP: 65 Attack: 65 --(+/- 0)--> 65 Defense: 60 --(+20)--> 80 Special Attack: 130 --(+40)--> 170 Special Defense: 95 --(+20)--> 115 Speed: 110 --(+20)--> 130 Mega Espeon with "Time Paradox" is a fast Special-attacker - and maybe even the strongest of them all! With a big Bonus in Special Attack it rivals the Special Attack of several Mega Pokemon and is only trumped by M-Alakazam, P-Kyogre, M-Rayquaza, Deoxys Attack-Form, and M-Mewtwo Y. However its slightly lower Sp.Attack is part of Time Paradox - since Multi-Turn moves pack a serious punch! Future Sight with 120 BP and a 170 SP.Attack + STAB in ONE TURN would hurt... A LOT! Hyper Beam with 150 BP for coverage against Dark types [or use Signal Beam - not as strong in BP but Super effective against Dark Types...] Dig could be used to evade potential danger, when facing a faster opponent (dig undeground at the start of the turn -> opponent attack misses -> hit them with Dig) Wish could be used like Recover (since Espeon only learns potential unreliable Morning Sun - since it depends on weather by Level up, and Rest would leave it vulnerable due to sleep) *sigh* ... if only Geomancy were a thing for anything else than Xerneas - but hey setting up with Calm mind and killing everything with a one-turn Future Sight is fun, right?^^ [Why "Time Paradox" - Espeon can see into the Future, and Future Sight is its 'signature' move - in its Mega Form, these powers are amplified! It knows what will come and prepares its mind and body for those multi-turn moves.] With Magic Bounce it would get a bit more of defensive capabilities, walling entry hazard users and other defensive Pokemon, that might use Toxic or Thunderwave to stall, and retaliates any one that dares to switch in, with overwhelming Special Attack With 130 Speed it is now on par with Jolteon, and one of the faster mons, but is still outspeed by many other Megas, and is still slower than M-Alakazam. The Bonus is Defence helps it to stay alive against Physical Attackers, and is bulkier than M-Alakazam. So you could say it is kind of a reverse M-Alakazam, it is bulkier in both defences, has a bit more HP but doesn't quite have the Sp.Attack stat and is slower. -

WELL EXCUSE ME- that I'm going on with what I deduced back then when Duster was announced! Really the only thing that you say is possibly false is that Duster is the Ground-Gym-Leader - which we all agreed, was the most ligical decision back when he was intorduced with our speculations. Well we could be wrong with that, granted - since you surprised us with Ghosts in the first gym, when we all thought it would be water, because of the pirate-theme (and seriously, I still think water was more hinted than ghosts... because not only Pirates have ghost-stories... but that's just me...) All the other things: Meeting with second Gym-Leader - no spoiler - was hinted earlier with the same screenshot! -> check (type may be different, who knows) meeting with catherine - no spoiler - was obviously hinted earlier all the time by you guys ("You'll meet them again" "Who knows if you battle Timothy or Catherine?" *hint hint hint*) -> check meeting the Evil guys - no spoiler - THEY HAD THEIR OWN ANNOUNCEMENT! -> check
-
Well to be fair, those screenshots showed things we already knew would eventually happen, although now we have a much clearer image about it: The first screenshot was showed to us earlier - the meeting with the second gym-leader - Duster. The second screenshot showed us that we would meet again with Catherine - which shouldn't really suprise anybody since she is a Rival - and was hinted at several times. (the only thing new here would be that she is sometimes ambiguous - leading to the "You thought I meant..." statement the third screenshot shows the MCs facing off against the "Evil Team" - which, lets be honest, would be inevitable. - since you already introduced 3 of 4 of the "Evil Team"-Leaders. Why would you have made this announcement if we wouldn't go up against them in EP.2 - Now we know for certain that we will at least battle Newton... if the mysterious "???" calling them 'Idiots' is Ewan Locke or Brigit Q is the only thing that is still a mystery... also according to the setting "Desert", more or less barren fields - assume we will finally find something different than Bug, and Normal-Dual-Types ... more specifically Ground types (since this is Dusters territory and he was a ground leader if I recall correctly) So you see - most of the things the screenshots sowed us, we already knew by deduction of previous announcements. the only thing we now know for certain, is that we will actually BATLLE Evil Team + Newton...

it draws closer and closer, huh? I swear to Arceus if you release it during my week of vacation between 18th and 25th... I'll... I'LL ... I'll probably cry... :'( and now I want to know what game Catherine ment with the "you thought I meant something dirty" xD

I played all games except Invetigations 2 (because it never got an EU release...) And so far I really like it, even though I know everything that is gonna happen But seeing all those great stuff from the games being animated is hilarious - the objections, the expressions, the typical movements... and then there are the anime exclusive FLAMES and Knockbacks! Jeezuz that was like a "FUS-RO-DAH!" in the first episode - i was laughing so hard there. I'm excited to see how they show the Magatama-thing and the possessions of Mia/Chihiro. Also WOW - We saw Manfred von Karma actually in the second Episode (although only briefly) also I hope to see maybe shorter - like 2 Episode trials - that weren't in the game. just to keep us gamers excitet for new stuff

Pokémon Ethics: An Introspective Discussion
Cepheus replied to Ironbound's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
This isn't exactly an answer to your points Viri - because this thought came to while trying to sleep... I'll be refering to the Anime here. Pokemon are slaves or prisoners - or at least are viewed as inferior by almost(!!) EVERYONE! The best example comes in almost every second or third episode - while Ash and Co. are happily sitting at a table, eating delicious food - while all their Pokemon are cast to the side, sitting on the floor, eating their Poke-food (which seems to be always the same brown, squishy/crunchy... well... *Dog-Food*) from bowls on the ground... so essentially you could say they make their Pokemon eat from the ground itself! Isn't that what we did Prisoners and slaves? - tossed them a bowl of whatever for them to eat from the ground. Sure there are a few exceptions with Pokepuffs and what not as special 'treats', or they get a small taste of what the tasty human food is like - and sometimes Pikachu or other 'small' Pokemon sit ON the table! However there is ONE special exception! ONE Pokemon that is treated as equal - One Pokemon that sits at the Table with it's friends, eating the same food as they do - and even got the most 'tasty, human food' from the Ash and Co. This one Pokemon is - Team Rockets Meowth! Meowth will sit with Jesse and James and eat with them, share with them what little they got. In the few occassion where Ash and Co. and Team Rocket work together - or just Meowth because it was seperated - They(Team R) AND Meowth were always offered that good food! Never did they cast aside Meowth and said: "Here have some of that Pokefood!" When Meowth was seperated from Jesse and James, it sometimes would deliberatley sit on the ground with the other Pokemon - of it's own will - to keep them Company - and maybe a bit of distrust of Ash an Co. (who knows) Also - Meowth has NO POKEBALL! It is always there... it is a wild one - still it pledged its allegiance with Team Rocket! Never has someone tried to catch it either. Why? - Because it can TALK! It can Talk directly to everyone! - Therefore every human assumes it is on the same level as they are - they respect Meowth, in a way they don't even try to enslave it, because they know it would rebel against them. Now imagine this: Meowth leaves Team Rocket for good! acompanies Ash back to Pellet Town and meets with Prof. Oak! Meowth could help him in so many ways with his research, just because it can talk and translate for him. (which Prof. Oak already wanted Meowth to do for him, when they first met) Two things could happen: 1. Prof Oak would treat Meowth as an equal - giving it a room to sleep and to be by itself. - just on the premise that it can talk. 2. Prof Oak would want Meowth in a Pokeball to be HIS Pokemon. - How do you think Meowth would react? - I think it would be furious! yelling at him like "Don't you dare throw that thing at me Professor! I am my own! I have a RIGHT to be free! And if you can't respect that..." Even though Meowth can barely fight, because it used up all its potential to learn the human language, it elevated itself above other Pokemon - only it posesses the ability to actually talk to humans (sure some very strong Psychic type can use telepathy) - but just this one thing - that it can communicate with people - makes it equal to them! Hell for all we know Meowth could be a Trainer itself! - Give a few Pokeballs and let it catch its own Pokemon - it is intelligent enough to do so.- 39 replies

Pokémon Ethics: An Introspective Discussion
Cepheus replied to Ironbound's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
On terms of Pokemon being slaves... I just had a thought regarding the 12th Movie (the Arceus one) Let me recap the movie for a moment: Ash and Co. come across ruins of an old city, and an decendant of Damos, the cities founder. Back in ancient times Arceus saved the people and "magical Creatues" from a meteor, and in return they helped him by gathering the plates. As a token of Gratitude Arceus made the land vertile - allowing the people to found the city. Arceus gave them the Jewel of Life to continue the work even in its abscence. Ash and Co. are sent back into these ancient times to give Arceus back the Jewel of Life, which it didn't get back because it was betrayed. (now the important part!) Back then - there were no Pokeballs! It were ancient times! The people made the Pokemon wear harnesses to make them obey (with the only exception being Damos' Pichu). Pokemon were made to work in the kitchen (notably here the Johto Starters), to do ALL the kitchen stuff themselves while being observed by a guard - a HUMAN guard. you know a human wouldn't have as much truble cutting radish as a Chikorita... Pikachu, Pichu and Pliplup sneak into the kitchen and destroy their harnesses - granting those three freedom! Later on we see Marcus' (the actual badguy) Heatran also wear an harness and obeying his orders, even when everything is getting destroyed... it is not until Pikachu destroys Heatrans harness that it turns against its master (granted - Heatran let the harness get destroyed) also Ash explains to Damos what a Pokeball is, while in prison. ----- So In ancient times - Pokemon were enslaved! And now we have to think about this: Pokeballs! Yes - Pokeballs! Whose idea was it to create these devices to CAPTURE a magical creature? - It even has a 'failsafe' to make it return into this ball at the masters will! Why do Pokemons have to be in their Pokeballs while traveling with their master? - Example Pikachu! Pikachu is completely fine hanging around Ash the whole time! Why can't a Trainer have all his/her Pokemon out all the time? Why do we need Pokeballs, when the Pokemon can travel besides us anyway? Why can't we just befriend them instead of CAPTURE them? The only logical purpose I see for Pokeballs is for transportation of HUGE/BIG/HEAVY Pokemon - when they are injured and need help at a Pokemon-Center! Pokemon when CAPTURED in a Pokeball are 'assigned' to that Pokeball and that trainer - so that they cannot be CAPTURED by other trainers, since other Pokeballs will just bounce of them, because they are already 'assigned' to another trainer. If we wouldn't have any Pokeballs - we wouldn't need these 'anti-theft' measures, because there would be no way anyone could try to CAPTURE our Pokemon-friend with another Pokeball. And even with those 'anti-theft' measures in play - Pokemon still got stolen. Look at Team Rocket! They either just take the Pokeballs or put the Pokemon behind a cage where the "Return"-command doesn't reach them! Pokeballs are just an advanced Slavery-tool! - like those Harnesses in the Ancient times were! also with those Pokeballs I am, for what ever reason, only able to travel with 6 Pokemon-friends at a time While without Pokeballs I could befriend so many more and roam around with all of them!- 39 replies

Pokémon Ethics: An Introspective Discussion
Cepheus replied to Ironbound's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
One last thing about the breeding: Breeding in itself IS NOT a bad thing! - You mentioned that Brock wanted to be a Pokemon Breeder, does that mean he wants to breed the same Pokemon all over again until he gets a perfect result, and just discard all the other babies? No - he wants to be a Pokemon breeder because he loves caring for Pokemon. Brock doesn't care for IVs or Nature, he wants to help pokemon with their love and caring for their eggs until they hatch. The only unethical breeding would be that competetive chain-breeding - Don't generalize it! (also Brock took the Gym-Leader position from his father - and has now given it to his little brother) (If Pokemon were real - scenario) Let's say you want to have another Eevee - because they are cute and fluffy or to get the last Eeveelution you are missing for your household - because Eeveelutions are your favorite and what not... What are your options? - catch a wild eevee - trade with someone - BREED an Eevee You know noone who would part with their Eevee/lution in a trade, and there are no wild eevee living in the near area... only option left is breeding one. It also has something positive - if you keep the egg with you and your other Eeveelutions, the new baby-Eevee will naturally bond with you and the others while in the egg, making it easier for you to become/stay friends - it's a happier little Eevee! and since you only need one Egg you don't need to chain breed for it to be perfect - because at this point, you simply don't care. Because you personally cared for it while it was an Egg. - It's an emotional bond. Even if it is not as fast as the others, or even if it is a bit frail - it will still be a happy Eevee with a lot of friends caring for it! (Eevee taken as the example for obvious reasons... ) ----------------------------------------- Anyway, Pokemon battling. Glorified Cock-Fights with super-powered Animals. I assume Pokemon have at least some little urge to fight in them - genetically - for survival in the wild, because just sitting there getting eaten by a predator and doing nothing about it, and we wouldn't have certain Pokemon. Now we come along, capture them, train them, and battle against other trainer who have done the same. Now this isn't any survival-scenario in the wild anymore - we are doing that for entertainment (a Pokemon League match has thousands of watchers and fills an entire Stadium!) and for our own prestige! We deliberately get these Pokemon, who have emotions and feelings, we have BEFRIENDED, to hurt each other for our ego! WE want to be the very best, like no one ever was... WE want to be Pokemon-Master These fights don't stop at 'hurting eachother' - no - they DESTROY their surroundings! best seen in the Pokemon Origins anime, where Red battles Giovanni in the Silph.Co. building - During their fight they blew a giant hole into the walls of the building, thorugh which Giovanni escaped by boarding a helicopter. And the rooms interioir was DEVESTATED! You know - I know it's a cartoon - but Jesse and James would be DEAD after their first 'blasting off' after Pikachu gave them a taste of, what maybe, thousands of Volts with his Thunderbolt! Ash would have 4th degree burns over his entire face... hell, he would look like Two-Faces burned half over his entire face, because of his Charizard always Flamethrower-ing his face! And all the audience would do is laugh it off - because it was great battle... Seriously every battle in some kind of closed off room - like in any kind of building would be devestating! - depending on the intensitiy of the battle you could totally collapse the building on top of you - burying your opponent, their Pokemon, your Pokemon, and yourself under thousand of tons of Steel, Bricks, and cement! What about catching Pokemon? We drag a Pokemon away from its natural habitat, eventually away from its FAMILY - who is worried sick because their 'dad' never returned from his berry-hunt, and we force them to fight! Maybe this Pokemon doesn't want to fight other Pokemon, but since we are now its trainer - it has to obey us, and do what we tell it to do. And even if it doesn't obey our orders... it cannot really get away from us - we can always return it to its Pokeball and keep it there. Have you ever wondered why Pokemon in the anime always come back to its trainers even when mistreated? (like Paul did) I think it has something to do with their connection to the Pokeball - They CAN'T get away from you, because you didn't 'release' it into the wild with YOUR own will - The Pokemon HAS to come back to you because it is bound to that Pokeball! All of this would be wrong in all kinds of ways - IF it were real... With all that: Make Love - Not League!- 39 replies
