  1. Assuming the vote were to stand as it had been (now the remove voters are clearly ahead by 4.) the @ only vs. all auth could easily be re-polled to include the previously unable removal voters. Wouldn't that solve the issue? My issue was more-so with Silver and Morgan earlier, who were more aggressive in calling out "auth that want to protect a toy" and being prejudicial in saying that the auth is protecting the right to discriminate against users and what not. The fact that the poll is pretty dead even seems to suggest that many of the supporting voters don't think that's what the auth intended at all and working with these people, I assure you, even those like me don't want to have a command that we can just use to ruin anyone's life. Wes, for the most part, you have taken an angle of experience and while it was hard, it wasn't aggressive rhetoric like some other vocal posters here. As for Ame's intent, I know for a fact that she just wanted the community to have as MUCH say as possible on a wide array of issues the auth simply came to gridlock on, not just should /Kick stay or go. There was no ill intent, and for said reason of having as much say as possible - -I- would absolutely re-poll the matter in the event of kicking keep winning the poll. That is probably not going to be necessary.
  2. I think I'm the only one who will defend the /kick command staying to the end-all decision and I most certainly didn't create the poll. Silver, I explicitly was the one that gave people direction as to how to vote correctly. Please don't make the assertion that I give so much of a fuck as to "defend a toy" to the point where I am being dishonest and taking the power away from the voter base. Also, since this is taking a nasty turn here in the comment section, I would suggest another moderator to lock conversation. I do find it very interesting that the biggest proponents of the kick command being nixed are the auth/former auth that are guilty of abusing it in the past. --- @ Wes The thing about /Kick as a disciplinary command was that it was faulty in doing so. The kick-ee was able to evade the kick almost immediately and thus the command would be followed by a stronger disciplinary command almost instantaneously every single time it was used as such. It had no value as a disciplinary command in that there was no authority behind it at all at the end of the day. The real decision here is not to treat /Kick like a disciplinary kick at all. You all as the community have been given the option to either remove the command because it's ineffective and doesn't have any value whatsoever, or keep it as a "fun" command. The argument is very clearly laid out for the voters. It's either for fun, or it's gone. Ball's in your court. This community has held it's ground for years regardless of what the outside world has thought of it's moderators or community members. There is no new user quota, and while we do indeed have a decorum that we are working tirelessly to instill and promote and perhaps most importantly in this case - lead by example - we are not fishing for more people as actively as you describe. This community has never had to do so, as the game's success has been mostly word-of-mouth. Just because the 'potential' for a command to be used to the point of abuse is there doesn't make a situation where the command is used immediately a death knell for community growth and it's wrong to campaign under such claim - let alone call into question the character of those who do support it - auth and user alike. I wouldn't have made it on to this auth team if I didn't think about how to help best run a community and I'm sure others with my view have their credentials as well. Personally attacking people is not the way to rally the troops here - you haven't done so yet, but if your argument is going to continue to vilify the opposing viewpoint you are indeed putting yourself at risk of being disrespectful. The Stockholm Syndrome accusation is laughably off-base - and I have done my best to call to attention where the poll outcome can be changed regardless of my position. I am not trying to push a personal agenda or hold others captive simply because I support the use of the command as a fun command. I, as you do, WANT voters to speak their mind and vote as they feel they should. I am not surprised by the way this vote is evenly divided at the moment - and despite earlier looking better for my personal stance on the matter, I only care about making sure this poll is done as right as possible regardless of which side wins. As for whoever made the poll, don't look at me and don't be ridiculous in calling it rigged. Obviously it wasn't well communicated between - which is why I took the liberty to let you know the way they were being counted before the vote closed so that justice could be enacted. As a "supporter" of the way the poll was "rigged" (sarcasm) I could have done myself a favor and NOT mentioned that to you. Why would any sort of corrective announcement be made from me if I wanted any unfair advantage to remain.
  3. As the main proponent auth for /Kick staying *dodges thrown tomatoes and nods at the inevitable booeing* .....let me stake my case - and perhaps for those who are worried about the command, provide some help to your cause. I'm happy that I am seeing users step forward and say that /Kick is a useless command. My argument for making it a "fun" command was tied to the fact that Showdown currently does not have much leeway in regards to fun commands to begin with. /Nightclub hasn't been around since PO, and we don't have permission to change colors or names of other users - and that while at /kick's onset it was intended to be a command that was for disciplinary action, the command was easily bypassed and made it claim to fame something else entirely. A joke. Admittedly, I am one of those auth in the past that illustrated the uselessness of said command. I personally believe that this community is resilient enough to handle this commands existence with the appropriate measures taking place. No Jelly, the command is no longer spammed. There is a case handler that essentially renders auth contemplating it's use in a sticky situation - There is not a lot of leeway there. No Morgan, nobody's "getting away" with "abuse." There are plans to make said command attached to an "opt-in" list - meaning if the vote passes as it is currently doing so. (more on that later on below.) we will ensure it's well documented who wishes not to be targeted by the command. Reborn has a history of interesting chat commands - and with the resurgence of Breloombot's new gimmicks, we're starting to see these come back to fruition. I feel that fun auth commands are a decent way to make auth feel personable while still being imposing enough to potential wrongdoers. I feel that if mod abuse caused community implosion, it would have already happened before multiple times in this community. That is why it's been hotly debated among auth. Not because the auth should question the value of their positions, but that this type of fooling around has always been a facet of the community and is really only an issue because of the ramifications of the command. If we could change names or something that doesn't disrupt a user's enjoyment of the chatroom then kick would easily just be nixed. I'm defending the resiliency of this community by defending this command here. Yes, there have been heated arguments and feelings have been hurt and whatnot over it - but this is far from a death inducing move. --- That out of the way. Let me explain the vote. Currently, there are 40 votes promoting the /Kick command staying in some way or fashion to 34 votes to kill /Kick. The first two options are votes to keep the command, the third is to outright remove it. If the vote stands is, Kick will stand. So, if there are any voters out there who do wish to kill /kick, you -are- allowed to change your vote and I encourage you do so to preserve the integrity of the Poll. --- Thank you all for hearing me out.
  4. Of the introductory professors, they all have a very unique expertise and it's hard to pick one, even with Rowan in the bunch (due to having not played a Gen 4 game very much at all) that really stands out, but I guess I will go ahead and say my favorite is Professor Birch, of Hoenn. Birch, like all of the introductory professors, has a childlike fascination with 'Mons and it comes coupled, as with the other introductory professors again, with a degree of dopey dialogue and behavior. However, as was already pointed out, the Hoenn Prof. has a distinguishable secondary role as your father's friend and thus a friend to your family. There are endearing cutscenes throughout ORAS that indicate Birch's involvement with the story being significantly greater than that of just being the game's 'Dex handler. Furthermore, the father of your primary rival in the Generation III titles just so happens to again - be Prof. Birch - adding to that family dynamic even more by binding the protagonist's family to your rivals. And yet again, in that regard, the most current version of the game delivers in telling that part of the story too. Birch's topic of study however, is ultimately what makes him separate from the pack along with Cedric Juniper. Distribution of Pokemon, as someone who likes to catch as many as possible, is one of the most important topics to me as a trainer, and for those of you that didn't know... Continuing with the well fleshed out theme - Colress is probably my favorite professor of them all too.
  5. Void, thank you so much for participating this long. Don't worry about holding anything up. Hope to see you around still! That means we'll have a divisional matchup in the Quarterfinals between Amethyst reps Mikzal (12) and MMM (13) Lots of lower seeded opponents breaking through the later rounds of this tournament. I like it. Elsewhere, we're waiting on quarterfinal play from Jelly (9) and number one seed Pyrrhon (1) with Kamina (11) waiting the Semi final match between two of those previous four on the other side of the bracket. With Void's forfeit, Emerald has been eliminated from the tournament.
  6. This might sound odd. I actually really like noisy places. the "Headphones" answer seems to be pretty generic though, so I'll go with my universities' Student Union Building cafeteria. There's a section where there are 5 televisions with different sporting events being broadcast, and it's great for studying in my opinion because it allows me to multi-task, which for some reason is more effective than peace and quiet doing one thing at a time. The thing that causes me NOT peace and quiet isn't noise. It's the eyes of others. if I feel I'm too crowded - that's when I have issues.
  7. With regards to Heliolisk - Heliolisk was bumped up because of it's arguably better defensive typing and it's ability Dry Skin. Normal provides a solid switch in against Ghost type attacks. Heliolisk is also immune to Water thanks to Dry Skin. Stat-wise, it and Jolteon are very similar - with Jolteon winning the Speed category and barely edging out Heliolisk in special attack power. The reason Heliolisk is outright better is the amount of immunities it has are greater (2>1) - and Heliolisk has better coverage. Offensive Jolteon sets are often forced to run TWO electric type moves. --- As far as re-tiering non-megas is concerned, there are a couple that -do- seem silly to me - like Manectric and Lopunny who have ridiculously low BSTs and without their megas wouldn't seem much effective at all in OverUsed. For example, regardless of it's Mega or not, you know what a Mega Manectric/Manectric will want to do competitively. It will try to Volt Switch and/or go a coverage move and it will use it's speed to it's advantage. - and the choice is obvious which is better at that. Normal Mane has no advantages in OU over it's mega in that it's crippled by it's same narrow move-pool. Lopunny is rendered to a bad Attack stat when not Mega, forcing it into using Klutz to trick things like Assault Vests onto support Pokemon at best in OU. You lose all of Mega Lopunny's offensive pressure and it's defenses are not ideal even WHEN Mega. I would argue that there are still quite a few Pokemon that are not able to hang around in OU that are wrongfully relegated to the tier thanks to the unprecedented power of their Mega Evolutions. Another one of those is Charizard - who takes 50% Damage from Stealth Rocks and would have a very narrow niche in OU at best thanks to Solar Power. The Pokemon fell from BL in Gen 3 all the way to NU in Gen 4. Gen 5 didn't raise the stakes much, only providing Charizard Solar Power to make it useable in sun teams in higher tiers. If the thing isn't Mega evolving. It's not an OU pokemon.
  8. UW beat an equally reeling USC team. The trend with Oregon and USC suggests that they weren't as good rather than Wazzu and UDubb being that great. The other side of the coin was UDubb losing to Boise State. While you guys might rate that USC team with more respect than I do, You can notice that Oregon is not in my top 50 and that the Trojans are barely hanging on at 42. Like I said, UDubb beats Oregon, they could even end up in my top 25. The Huskies are sitting just above .500 and a loss to the Ducks wouldn't be impressive in the slightest. Lots to gain. Lots to lose.
  9. Hahahaha. Wazzu beat Oregon at home, which is quickly becoming more doable by the week. Like I said, if Washington is able to show up yet again, I'll have to make some drastic changes. 26-50 is a mudslide.
  10. Few things. The 26 - 50 spots are a tentative pool of potential Top-25 Candidates. This means that if you don't see a team you think is at least in the top 50 (like UDUBB potentially) it's not necessarily because that team doesn't deserve to be there - but that I am using a semi-well constructed metric past rank 25. Nobody gives a damn about the next quarter of teams anyway - and if Washington were to say, continue trending upward by beating Oregon this week (entirely plausible), the Huskies would go from unranked to potentially on the doorstep for the 25 or even -IN- it. Changes below the top 25 -WILL- be somewhat erratic. Down to my rankings analysis The Ohio State Buckeyes are this year's Florida State - merely surviving each and every week in games they should be able to control, hence, they are -currently- not in my top 4 as there are other teams that are undefeated with better game control showings and better resumes ahead of them. The Associated Press Poll had SIX teams garnering first place votes, from Ohio State to Texas A&M - who didn't even play last week. Number 1 is still wide open. Another seemingly disrespected team in my poll is LSU. Florida seems to have a more capable offense as a whole - but the Tigers play them this week. Temple, Memphis, Toledo, and Boise State are in the running for the Group of Five representation on New Years. Drop outs from the previous week: Georgia, Cal, Navy Oklahoma, at 22, fell 13 spots in my poll after losing to Texas.
  11. Don't listen to these "Screw Grass Starter" folks for anything outside of the Pokemon being obtainable later on if you're one to want to try for some degree of 'Dex completion. It's this kinda stuff that makes Grass much maligned when we already know Grass is not a good defensive type. However, because of said fact that Grass is not a good type defensively, you -should- want to lean on an offensive starter for Reborn in my opinion. Chespin -CAN- be used offensively, and it's 4x weakness to flying types would be the major drawback when fully evolved. It works well against Noel once his birb(s) are out of the way. If you don't care about getting a 'Mon you can't get anywhere else, Turtwig is another Pokemon that is a Jack of all trades, this time x4 weak to Ice! Treecko needs some special attention. Unburden doesn't help it out - so go Overgrow or whatever the generic Grass ability is. Sceptile's speed is handy. Serperior is the epitomy of offensive when it has Contrary and Leaf Storm in it's arsenal. Never -ever- use Chikorita Be prepared for a rougher time going offensive with Bulbasaur, but it is doable.
  12. Kanto: Pewter City - Mt. Moon, exhibits, Viridian Forest, and shorts because they are comfy and easy to wear. Johto: Blackthorn City - In -my- opinion, Blackthorn is closest to some of the coolest views and 'Mons in the Johto region. Hoenn: Rustboro City - Rustboro is rather underrated. It's as hustle and bustle as Slateport or Lilycove, but also as rustic and homely as Litteroot. I like that contrast. Sinnoh: Veilstone City - A Grunt at heart, so the Galactic HQ doesn't detract the land value for me...although Galactic's fashion sense could be less trippy. Isolation and carved out of stone. Nice. Unova: ANYWHERE? Gosh that's tough - but I'd have to say Lentimas Town. The New Mexico-esqe feel is really unique. Kalos: Shalour City - This city beats out Cyllage for me. It's got a lot of steep tradition and is the embodiment of "Kalos-Tough." I would RETIRE in Unova - at the Village Bridge with everyone else. --- Orre: Pyrite Town - I'm used to to "the ghetto" and I very much felt at home there when playing through the Genius Sonority Shadow Pokemon titles. --- Reborn: Beryl Ward pre Tangrowthpocalypse.
  13. Helene, Maya --- "Helene...you can just call me White if you wish." Pan walked up behind the couch and waved - as per usual - to the new face. At least he wasn't trying to harass the Spinda that seemed to be uninterested in him at the moment. Although, Pancham himself understood the serenity and seduction that comes from a good nap. Helene on the other hand began to shuffle in, finding the unclaimed room and neatly placing her things there. She returned to the living area and leaned against a wall out of the way, watching the exchange intently. She was certain Maya wouldn't do anything to hurt Pan, but she was always cautious with the reverse, in order that Pan be proper in the company of others She did long to let Pan battle, because the poor panda never got the time to really release any energy at all. That was why she chose the "Trainer" program among lots of other reasons. Pancham is a fighting type Pokémon. A fighting type Pokémon that doesn't fight just seems so....domesticated. Aggression is a passionate display, and here at Ymora, the both of them would let loose. Only when the time comes, as that's simply the proper way to do things. For now, she smiled. "So, you wouldn't happen to be from somewhere in Kalos...would you?"
  14. It's not even really a connection - although I will concede that I was going game-verse sized Shalour City and not anime-verse Shalour City where the likelihood -would- be less possible. Sorry about that Stratos. That being said, it's just "I think I've seen this person before" and not some grade-A "oh, we used to be friends long ago and had x amount of memories." so I will say that there -isn't- a connection there so much as there is a mere acknowledgement to a previous memory for the OC which -I- think makes the story better for personal development. You're allowed to proceed as if you don't know who I am though. I can't control your responses.
  15. Helene "Al.....alright then. I've got a room to find anyway." "C'mon Pan. We've gotta find where the heck you're going to sleep, huh?" Pancham muttered some sort of dissent, wishing to stay out in the open and meet new folks. Apparently the poor guy was still taken aback by just how many new people and Pokemon there were around Ymora. Helene couldn't blame him either. With all of the official business out of the way, she knew full well by this point that she there were not any real orders of business to attend to anyway. Pan took a glance back at the two boys and the Cottonee that he had met and then began tailing Helene as she made for the girl's dormitory. --- Dorm "002....well, Pan, this one then." As she opened the door Pancham entered first, sniffing with some sort of intrigue in an acknowledgement that this area would be a frequented one - and then began excitedly jumping up and down, before racing to Helene's leg and clamboring onto it, chattering the whole way. "...Easy, Pan......" the girl accentuated cautiously. "It seems we're not the first ones here. Perfect." As she managed to carry her luggage in one arm, her keycard in the other, and Pancham in some sort of stranded balancing act, Helene finally took note of the surroundings her new "home" allocated. Pan's commotion seemed to be caused by a Spinda that seemed to have faceplanted on the couch. "I remember someone with a Spinda. I never talked to her much, but her name was Maya or something..." Behind said couch was either a very ghastly furnishing or a very normal set of human hair. Familiar jet black human hair. "Hello there...I hate to be a bother, but since Pancham here is a little bit pre-occupied with not helping me, could you lend a hand?"
  16. tfw Dobby is asleep and you're not quite sure what to do with his OC's Cottonee and you really just wanna go meet yo' roommate. It's okay Dobby. Take your time. :]
  17. Tonight's nightcap presentation is another newcomer - Smeargle Smeargle is a descendant of the onslaught of Pokemon used in XY's opening meta, often seen testing the likes of King's Shield in the picture above as well as using dual hazards such as Sticky Web -and- Stealth Rocks, as well as sleep inducing moves Spore and signature move of Darkrai - Dark Void. Smeargle get's access to these interesting moves because the only move in it's learn-set is "Sketch" - which allows it to sketch any move in the game. Unfortunately for Smeargle, it's stats don't allow for it to be an attacker or wall that would adequately fire off it's immense array of moves with any kind of effectiveness - so it's relegated to just utility moves. Because of this Smeargle will only be given one set - and a few move suggestions from me - in this showcase. The opportunities are endless, but not always effective. A - - Smeargle's role on teams is incredibly transparent due to it's restraining stats. This allows for your opponent to get the upper hand by outplaying it's predictability. However, Smeargle is the only Pokemon that can get Sticky Web -and- Stealth Rock in the tier, and there is not anything to fear from overcoat users to use moves like Dark Void, where you can trip up smart alecks who try to switch in their grass types for the obvious Spore. Sticky Web is a beautiful hazard to set, allowing slower Pokemon like Tyrantrum to shine where they otherwise wouldn't be able to without a Choice Scarf. Smeargle can put some serious sabotage work on the opponent if played against poorly as well - so it's worth a consideration. Offensively - Explosion will probably be your go-to move here, although ExtremeSpeed is a good move to consider if you could use the high priority to revenge kill something. Assuming you get the opportunity to switch out Smeargle after use. For Smeargle, the sky as a limit as far as utilities are concerned, but the most important pair of them are team supporters in Stealth Rock and Sticky Web, which no other Pokemon in the tier can run at the same time. Spore is a good never-miss sleep inducing move to play the numbers game and buy Smeargle some time, while Dark Void is just as serviceable and can trip up Grass types. Taunt is a good move to use when matched up against slower hazard users, and allows you get both of your hazards up. Whirlwind can get the ball going with Sticky Web as well as cause some residual damage. The Artful Dodger Smeargle @ Focus Sash Ability: Own Tempo EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Spore / Dark Void - Stealth Rock - Sticky Web - Explosion / Whirlwind / Nuzzle / Extremespeed / ??? This is the standard gist for Smeargle. The last slot is really open to interpretation. Extremespeed is a good move for the final spot if you can manage to save Smeargle after fulfilling it's use. As a priority attack, E-Speed makes Smeargle a serviceable revenge killer and it will get STAB due to being a normal type Pokemon. Nuzzle does two things really well - Damage the opponent slightly, and paralyze the foe. Nice! King's Shield is a good move to consider here because it functions like Protect, having it's priority and saving Smeargle from damage. This should be used against those that try to attack it with physical contact moves, as it will cause their attack to fall two stages upon contact. This allows Smeargle to usually get an entry hazard up -or- if you haven't set a Pokemon to sleep yet, allows you do that and prepare to use the move again. Magic Coat is a priority prevention move that bounces back non-offensive moves, which includes Taunt. This is HUGE for Smeargle, because it can then be free to go for hazards without fear of being shut down by Taunt itself. Thanks for hearing me out, and remember- Stay Tuned!
  18. Helene, Doux Nearing the exit of the registration hall, Pancham looked up and waved at something that seemed to be just above Helene's head. "...Pan...what are you waving at?" Suddenly Helene had a strange sneezing sensation. She remembered something like this happening back at Shalour, when she encountered a Whimsicott walking to the south of town on the way to the Skiddo farm. She stopped walking, wrinkled her nose a couple of times to suppress her urge to sneeze, and addressed the...whatever it was on her head. "Um...Hello there, friend. How are you?" She got down to one knee to allow Pan to greet the Pokemon, whom Helene could identify as not a Whimsicott, but it's pre-evolution Cottonee by shifting her eyes almost fully into their sockets. She sighed, and allowed Pancham to play with the Cottonee, opting to survey the playdate and search for the Pokemon's trainer. From observation, she could tell the Cottonee was well groomed, possibly by one of the Coordinator students here. From there, she noticed a pair of boys in an exchange near by. One, who had just boasted about the soon-to-be top coordinator of the academy, the other looked to be a little more arrogant than that. She quietly accessed this exchange as a potential macho contest. "Oh, I sure hope those two aren't roomies." She then noticed the Cottonee's interest with one of the gentleman, and decided she had better stay nearby in case one of the two trainers was it's charge. The could probably bet her tuition savings on which gentleman it was.
  19. Helene, Adeline, Emberly, Doux the Cottonee "Well Helene, er, White, you don't have to tell the little guy to leave me alone. I love the company of Pokémon. It's why I made my decision to become a Breeder here after all." "Breeder, now that's something you don't see every day. Maybe I'll get the time to ask her about it some time." Truth be told, Adeline seemed to be a magnet for attention, wanted or otherwise. Helene, while serviceable, was not one to normally barge onto the stages of others. Must be a day for excitement...or rather, a day for Pan to stick his nose where it doesn't belong. This triggered a somewhat-distant response. "Um...right...well, I'm sure Pancham will want to say hi again..." she murmered, taking a sideways glance at her Fighting-type companion in rebuke. "I'll take my leave, then. See you around Adeline, Emberly. C'mon Pan, Let's go make sure our things are moved in - THEN we can go make friends. Okay?" Perhaps without meaning to, Helene then took off with Pancham in the direction of the girl's dorms in a manner that could be misconstrued as avoidance.
  20. Mayanna's the one with the Spinda right? This is going to be a long year.
  21. ....Yeah..I kinda acted because of the following: - The PCs have to meet __somehow__ - that's just unavoidable. Any time you have someone just trip and fall in the middle of the crowded scene where everyone is, that's a part of the scene and you are either going to have everyone acknowledge it - or no one acknowledge it. - The initiative thread did influence my getting involved with the scene. I don't see how getting all of the PCs involved is that much of a train wreck. Eventually Adeline will have to get off the ground and we all have rooms to go attend to and our own ways. I'll agree with Murdoc here and I'll defend this result. Everyone got out of their shells, and now the PCs are aware of each others existence. There's no foul here. The resolve will come when Adeline stands up.
  22. Helene, Emberly, Adeline Pan handed the attendant at the desk her folder as Helene flashed her ID, leaving her lanyard around her neck in doing so. Truth be told, despite Pan's verbal discontent with waiting patiently, Helene was feeling a little bit impatient as well - so her arrival at the desks was more than a relief. "Thank you for attending, we hope you enjoy your time here." "Thank you." As she turned from the desks and exited the queue, she noticed Pan had begun to wander toward a commotion. She noticed another student strewn onto the ground, being helped up by another girl, who was oddly tall. "You alright? That was quite the tumble. Let me help you up. The name's Emberly, I go by Drake though. This is a strange way to meet somebody." the beanpole offered politely. By this point, Pancham had made it to the scene, and began patting the student on the ground as if nursing a bruise or calming a child. This caused Helene to rush over, knowing the fallen girl's reputation was already fractured from the fall along with whatever bones potentially may be. "Hi!..um......My name's Helene, I very much prefer White though. Pan! leave the poor girl alone!" "This is a horrible first impression."
  23. Today, we'll have somewhat of a doubleheader...starting with Togetic Togetic is one of the few fairy type options available in RarelyUsed, and is one of the more intriguing ones due to it's vast support movepool, stellar bulk that is boosted even more by the Eviolite, and secondary Flying typing. It's Special Attack is naturally usable as well. Togetic spent a good deal of time among the PU ranks prior to the depature of Whimsicott and Slurpuff from RU, and only reacently saw it's usage ascend past NeverUsed. Viability-wise, Togetic's unique typing allows for it to wall a significant allotment of Pokemon, hailing from the Fighting, Dark, and crowded house of Dragon types. With Nasty Plot and Baton Pass, Togetic is able to pass strong Special Attack boosts to it's team, and with access to cleric moves such as Heal Bell and Wish, you -may- opt for Togetic over Aromatisse if you are in need of more Fighting type walls specifically. Finally, the surprise factor could be brought in to make use of Tic's decent Special Attack, outright stunning would be offensive opponents with it's ability to use Nasty Plot for itself. The most important move on Togetic's list is Defog, which will free up your partners from hazard damage. A - The only competition Togetic sees in my eyes is Alomomola and Aromatisse with regards to Wish-passing. Aside from that, Togetic's niche is comparable to other Defoggers and walls and depending on the composition of your team, it deserves some recognition when building. Togetic is a very good Pokemon. Starting with it's offensive movepool we see that Air Slash is a move used by it's tertiary evolution Togekiss, and that Togetic does indeed get Serene Grace - albeit it does lack the speed to use it nearly as effective as it's parent 'mon and thus won't cause as many flinches. Dazzling Gleam is the most used STAB on this particular evolution stage, as it maximizes opponents it will hit for super effective damage. Seismic Toss allows Togetic to fell walls in a standoff. Fire Blast is an option for offensive sets, as it's a very powerful coverage attack, and if you are worried about Rock type Pokemon when using an offensive Togetic, you can consider Water Pulse, which will likely mean you will have to fish for the fifth of a shot at confusion. Utimately, Togetic is best served as a Utilitarian. It's utility moves are the selling points of this Pokemon. Starting with Nasty Plot, a move that raises a Pokemon's special attack by two stages - Togetic is able to double it's decent special attack and become both an offensive -and- defensive presence. Baton Pass allows Togetic to take a hit (which it does very well, I might add.) and move it's Nasty Plot boost to a better suited Pokemon that may not learn Nasty Plot cleanly. Defog should see a lot of use on defensive wall oriented Tic, and Roost allows for it to heal back up and cause further consternation from the opponent. Wish and Protect are viable moves if you wish to use a cleric not named Aromatisse or Alomomola. Thunder Wave can be used to paralyze opponents and spread some status, and Encore can stick your opponents in a situation where they would have to switch out. Soft-Boiled is in the move-set, but with Roost, there's no reason to have it as the grounded Flying-to-Normal resist is helpful for incoming Rock types. You may run Dual Screens on Togetic, and finally, Tailwind is a good move because Togetic is able to Baton Pass out right after using it and immediately can fetch momentum for your team. The Flying Fortress Togetic @ Eviolite Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD Bold Nature - Dazzling Gleam / Seismic Toss - Roost - Defog - Heal Bell / Encore / Thunder Wave This set is essentially an all around wall. Seismic Toss or Dazzling Gleam serve as the lone attack, and Defog allows you to save your team from hazards. Roost prolongs it's life, and the final slot is really up to you on what you need most. Heal Bell removes status, Encore stops set-ups, and Thunder Wave spreads status. The Team Player Togetic @ Eviolite Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD Bold Nature - Nasty Plot - Baton Pass - Roost - Fire Blast / Dazzling Gleam This is the NastyPass set, and it's sole purpose is to get that Nasty Plot boost to another teammate. Roost allows Togetic to sustain and either pass to more special attackers or fight more defensive oriented teams. Fire Blast is a very powerful attack that will help take out Steels that threaten it, and Dazzling Gleam is the STAB of choice. Vidia Togetic @ Eviolite Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 248 Def / 252 HP / 8 SpDef Bold Nature - Nasty Plot - Dazzling Gleam - Roost - Fire Blast The offensive set possibility. Fire Blast takes cares of Steels, Dazzling Gleam takes care of non-resists, Nasty Plot provides Togetic with it's offenses. Stay tuned!
  24. Well, this has been fun, so far! in light of the "outgoing" thread, I'll try to find scenarios in which I can bypass Helene's natural introvertedness (such as Pancham gon' Pancham) so that relationships are to occur without sacrificing character. Like Arthur said, if I step out of line, bring me back in. Thanks for letting me play with ya'll.
  25. But I'm not a rapper.....I'm back, with Gallade Gallade was a very nomadic Pokemon when the tier list is concerned. Upon ORAS megas dropping the Blade Pokemon saw itself raised all the way up to the unfriendly confines of OverUsed along with it's currently Borderline Mega. Since, Gallade has been everywhere from UU to NU before returning home to RU. Gallade isn't the first thing that should come to mind when looking for a fighting type Pokemon as Hitmonlee, Scrafty, Virizion, and fellow Fight-Psi counterpart Medicham are available options ahead of it. However, in comparison to Medicham, Gallade has an impressive 115 base Special Defense, 125 base Attack, and decent 80 base speed, with boosting moves outside of Medichams move-pool, such as Sword's Dance and Bulk Up - while retaining Medicham-esqe freedom in move-pool to arm itself with nearly whatever coverage it wants. B - Like I said above, there's just STIFF competition from other fighting type threats in the tier for Gallade to be considered anything higher. Priority and status could be match-killers for Gallade as well - however, if you're looking for a little bit of surprise factor, or something different then the average Fighting type on a squad, Gallade is a very interesting and workable option. Starting with it's offensive arsenal we've got Close Combat, the STAB hay-maker that will cause Gallade to lose it's defenses but most likely will put something on the floor. We have secondary STAB Zen Headbutt, another powerful attack, and we have Knock Off, the utilitarian coverage move that will keep any Ghost type standing in front of Gallade honest. RarelyUsed is still very kind to Dragon types, so if you're running three or more attacks Ice Punch is always a considerable option. Leaf Blade (my favorite attack ever.) is viable as Seismitoad, Gastrodon, and Rhyperior are very good Pokemon that don't like Grass type attacks. Fire and Thunder Punch rounds out any other elemental punch you can use, Earthquake is available, Shadow Sneak provides weak priority. X-Scissor and Stone Edge are there as well. Finally, bulkier sets, particularly Bulk Up oriented ones, do have access to Drain Punch for sustain. Psycho Cut seems like an interesting signature move if you wish to go dual stabs, and Night Slash has a high critical hit chance. With regards to the toolbelt, Gallade picks up Trick, which allows it to be used as an interesting Choice Band or Choice Scarf Pokemon with the ability to cripple an opposing Pokemon. Swords Dance gives Gallade a x2 attack boost and sets it up for a sweep, while Bulk Up boosts Attack and it's bad Defense one stage to increase power and sustainability. From there, there's not really many moves that should be considered out outside of Substitute, but there are interesting gadgets like Grudge, Momento, Lucky Chant, Hypnosis, Sing, Toxic, Trick Room, et....Yeah, just use SD or Bulk Up. The Reinforcement Knight Gallade @ Life Orb / Lum Berry Ability: Justified EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Swords Dance - Close Combat - Zen Headbutt - Knock Off This set gives Gallade the chance to clean up. Dual Stabs + Knock Off cover many threats when played appropriately. Gallade is a good consideration as a sweeper because of it's more-than-satisfactory special bulk, which allows it to pivot on things that use special offenses. It's attack is good enough to threaten offensive opponents without a Sword's Dance and Defensive ones with the boost. Lum Berry will provide Gallade with a safety net in order to punish a would be Mega Banette or Specially defensive Jellicent for going for Will-O-Wisp. The Axeman Gallade @ Choice Band / Scarf Ability: Justified EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Close Combat - Zen Headbutt - Knock Off - Trick / Drain Punch / Ice Punch Depending on the choice item Gallade will either be able to dent some walls or catch a few unsuspecting weakened mons by surprise. Trick allows for Gallade to shut down a cleric or opposing wall, Drain Punch with the Band will hurt the opponent and simultaneously recover any damage taken, and Ice Punch deals with opposing Dragon types. The Patient Swordsman Gallade @ Leftovers Ability: Justified EVs: 248 HP / 96 SpD / 164 Spe Careful Nature - Bulk Up - Drain Punch - Knock Off - Substitute / Safeguard / Zen Headbutt / Psycho Cut / Ice Punch The Bulk Up set allows Gallade to shore it it's poor defensive stats by raising it's defense to +6, complimenting it's contrasting stellar special bulk. It also allows for Gallade to boost it's sky high attack. Knock Off ensures that Gallade can at least hit everything in the tier allowing the mon to be used as a win condition. Drain Punch is the best Fighting type STAB for this type of set, because it recovers the substitute damage and increases the strain Bulk Up puts on opponents. Sub is used to help pave the way for Gallade by shielding it from attacks and status, while Safeguard can be used to somewhat do the same thing without losing HP. -IF- you are cheeky enough to SubPass with a partner, you can go for the secondary STAB or Ice Punch to slay the dragon and get to the princess that is known as Lady Victory. The Hunter (Hilda's fun set.) Gallade @ Assault Vest Ability: Justified EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Drain Punch - Leaf Blade - Psycho Cut - Shadow Sneak By no means is this set really fantastic, but it does account for two things that Gallade is chastised for not carrying. Ability to deal with Water/Grounds and Priority. With an AV set Drain Punch is a good move to use > particularly on Gallade as it's natural special bulk is damn near perfect on it's own, making special attackers greatly ineffective. Shadow Sneak allows for a way to hit Ghost types for super effective damage and gives it priority against fast mons, which enable the ability to for it to be useful at revenge killing. Normal types that would not fear Sneak are in danger because to STAB Drain, so the move if you can jam it somewhere does fit nicely. Leaf Blade tears up Rhyperior to shreds where Drain Punch would not, and also punishes things like Seismitoad and Gastrodon. Stay tuned!
