  1. More or less this. I think it's unreasonable to consider a lizard or an eagle or even a dolphin to be the same as a human Although it's important to keep in mind that although we're different from animals, we are also similar to animals and looking at them can often reveal things to us about ourselves
  2. 25-18=7 9:07-6:30=2:37 There were 7 days, 2 hours, and 37 minutes between the announcement post and the cancellation. That's 2 hours and 37 minutes longer than a week. In other words, there was a grace period and you still missed it Furthermore, your post was made 3 hours and 15 minutes after my closing post, which puts your post at 5 hours and 52 minutes beyond the technical deadline. This means it took you 7 days, 5 hours, and 52 minutes (almost 6 hours, 1/4th of a day) to find the thread. If you're going to take over a week to find the thread and post to remain part of the RP. What reason have I to trust you to post at any interval less than that? Not that it really matters what your excuse is. You missed the deadline. Had you been even one half-second before I posted (which, again, was 2:37 after the deadline), I would have immediately rescinded my post. But as you can clearly see, your post appears after mine on the forums, which means you did not post before me and therefore I shall accept no excuse And despite your statement, there were no "hopes" involved here. Everyone received equal treatment. Up until ~10:30 this morning I was prepared to include Acqui among the missing, despite the fact that I speak to her semi-regularly outside of RPs. There was no notification given to her beyond the one made in the thread. I made no outside mentions to Komodojoe or Bfroger or anyone else letting them know that if they didn't check the OOC soon they would be excluded. The playing field was entirely level. Those who saw my status on the 14th may have had slightly advanced warning that this was returning. But nobody, not even Strat (to whom I speak about TTG at least three days a week) was notified of the deadline in advance of his posting in this thread To sum up: No, you are not still in on this. Regardless of your excuse, you did not meet the deadline for continued participation in this RP With Hope, Lexi
  3. For just a moment, Latens thought she saw something white up against the Black in the room, but if it was there, and she really wasn't certain, it flew back out through the wall before she could tell for certain what it was. No screeching came from around the corner, so she couldn't even tell if the white thing was the same as the screeching thing
  4. The black creature was getting closer, already it was discernible that the yellow glow was coming from what could be considered its eyes. And further, it was now clear that there were not only the one, but three of these slow moving monsters. ~~~ The ceiling proved too far for Latens to reach and when she landed she slipped and nearly fell onto her stomach, her arms hanging off either side of the narrow path. The Black now encompassed more than half of the room she had come from. Another screech echoed, it seemed to be coming from around the corner of the room's outer wall, where the ledge was
  5. As soon as Ciri transferred her attention fully to the creature, it turned towards her. It shuffled forward slowly, a yellow glow emanating from the top of its blobular shape. It was still too far away to make out exactly what it was, for the moment it was just a black husk with a yellow glow. At the rate it was moving, it would take some time to reach the girls. But a prickling sensation on their necks told them they would have to go out to meet it. The Black had spread partway into the shaft they had just left and was creeping ever closer to the jagged opening they had smashed through.
  6. Alright, so, been the week, no K_H. Lawrence shall thus be poofed: Lawrence severely injured his pinky toe while searching for medical staff and because of his indignation towards the lack of medical attention available to him, he quit this farce of a competition to live out his life as a lifeguard, using his grapple hands to help rescue women from drowning. He had some trouble finding a place to work, but it seems a pool in the Plane of Wrath was able to accommodate him Replacing him shall be... Temperance Lucas! She'll be taking his place in the tournament, including his win/loss ratio With exactly 3 million Favor, she placed ninth in the pre-competition, just barely failing to make it into the main tournament. Alongside her older brother (not literally, she just calls him that) Adam, she's got potential to be Lord's chosen successor. And unlike him, she doesn't have attitude issues. She is among those who have received an artificial mech from the Diviner (Her mech looks like this, sorta, since I can't seem to describe it well) I'll be infodumping NPC interactions tomorrow. If there's anything you specifically want me to include there, please mention it. Otherwise I'll just use my best judgement (the Diviner and Blink's interactions will definitely be included). The next IC should show up within a few hours of the infodump In preparation for the next audience, Ruler of the Plane of Gluttony, the Ninth God: Ice Gryffin (AKA Lain Argyle) has been added to the NPCs section Former ruler of the Plane of Gluttony, the Fourth God: Wine has been added to the NPCs section Also, I'm still not quite sure what I'll be doing for the new "social" phase. Suggestions are welcome
  7. Latens yet again heard a screech, this time it was clear it came from this outer room. But the echoes in the large space made it impossible to pinpoint the location. It sounded far away, but was still rather chilling. The path ahead of her seemed very long, crossing it would be very tiring and time consuming even without it being extremely narrow
  8. Katsuo Katsuo made a mental note not to anger the electronic lady. And then made it again, and again, and again. And then he made a note not to anger Alexandria. "Gwaedu, please girl, chill out." He pleaded, fearing she might rip off his ear lobe in her rage, "Don't worry about her, she's just another clueless buffoon for us to work with. We're used to that." Gwaedu stopped tugging but made a buzzing sound to indicate she was still unsatisfied. "Look, we don't know who around here is going to kill us if we make them angry, so please try not to make them all angry. And also try not to kill them when they make you angry." (OOC: There's so much irony here you have no idea, Alexandria)
  9. Katsuo Gwaedu swung back and forth angrily. "I don't think I should translate that." Katsuo said worriedly. Gwaedu spun about and then spoke in a robotic monotone, "My Master is not my servant, shouting whore." Katsuo was unsurprised at the AI's rather forceful defense of him, but the fact that she actually bothered to speak that was more than a bit of a shock. "Uhhhm." Katsuo found himself grasping for something to say as damage control, "She, doesn't usually talk because, um, there's... There's a glitch, yes, there's a glitch in her speech program that makes her say strange things. Very strange things. So if she actually talks please ignore everything she says." Gwaedu strained in Alexandria's direction. Katsuo had no doubt that she would find a way to strangle Alexandria if she got free, despite having no appendages with which to perform the strangling. "Calm down girl." He whispered hastily, to no effect. He was vaguely grateful for her defense of him, even if he didn't really understand why she got so antsy. It was probably his fault, an Intelligent Device played off its master, and with how aggressive he tended to be, she was bound to pick up on it (OOC: You have pressed the mace's berserk button. Please consult chapter thirty-three of the operations manual: Preventing Strangulation by Flying Earring)
  10. Katsuo Katsuo, being in the back, was among the last to notice the newcomers. Newcomers. More. Great. "Well isn't this just lovely." He muttered. Gwaedu spun affirmatively. "Sarcasm, girl." An angry bounce indicated that Gwaedu already knew that. "No, it's not lovely at all. This has been a mess all around and now it's becoming an even bigger mess." Katsuo sighed and answered the shouty one. "Himura Katsuo. A-ranked ground mage, moon, I smash things." He said halfheartedly. Gwaedu spun her introduction. "Oh, yeah, and this is my partner Gwaedu, she's a mace." Katsupo added, pointing at her with his thumb

  13. I can understand that, their abilities are similar in a couple cases. But the roles they fill are very different
  14. Today I am thankful for bishies

  15. Latens found herself in a massive open space. There was a wall not too far off to her left, but she couldn't discern any of the other surfaces from the rest of the white. The ceiling didn't seem too far away, but the floor was certainly a far drop. The path she stood on was only as wide as her foot was long. The room she was in was a small rectangle jutting out of one corner of the massive area. Around the corner there was a ledge protruding off of it, just on the other side of the wall. It was too far away for her to reach it from the pathway, any attempt to do so would almost certainly lead to her falling to her death
  16. The cracked wall was smashed on the first try thanks to the strength of Ciri's arm. It opened out into a long white hallway, long enough that the end was indistinguishable from the walls. A good ways down there was a person or creature that appeared to be wearing a large black coat. Despite the color, it didn't exude the same feeling of danger that the Black did. It also didn't seem to be paying attention to the girls, allowing them a brief rest before they had to deal with whatever it was. ~~~ No response came to Latens except the Black creeping ever closer. There wasn't even another screech
  17. K, Bonemecha-chan is accepted. Not sure yet if I'll be adding her to this dream or if you'll be waiting for the next one
  18. Alright, the bony thing works. I'd like you to create a limited list of bone-weapons she can form. Right now it's too open-ended
  19. Latens hiding herself proved pointless, as there was nothing to hide from. The Black in her room had coated the back wall and advanced towards her ever quicker. She heard a strange screech, almost like that of a crying girl, but it was unclear whether it came from within the Black or from outside ~~~ Rei scaled the wall with ease and quickly ffound herself within arms reach of the gap and Ciri. The Black was barely halfway up the wall and had yet to coat the entire floor. The Black from Ciri's room was inching forward, but not at an alarming pace. The two of them were safe for the moment. ~~~ Cora didn't have much time to contemplate whether or not she accidentally murdered herself, as the Black was cascading towards her ~~~ Ei jumped out of the sigil and landed safely on her feet, as though she had practiced the maneuver a thousand times. In reality she had no idea what she was doing and it just so happened that she was ejected in such a way that she looked proficient. The room she found herself in was a blank canvas with a splatter of ink in the corner. If ink splatters were capable of writhing about. This particular ink splatter seemed rather ominous as it spread across this strange canvas. Ei looked down at herself. She was in her usual summer dress (which she often wore regardless of weather), and happily barefoot. Were it not for the lizard's eye staring at her from her elbow, she probably would have felt perfectly normal. Instead, she screamed in shock. "There is a purple eye on my arm. Lots of eyes." She said aloud, desperately hoping it would make more sense that way. She noticed, however, that she didn't have time to panic over her appearance, as the foreboding Black was quickly consuming the room. Without any choice left to her, she forced the eyes from her mind and exited into the second room. ~~~ Ei found herself in a room full of square pillars of varying heights. She herself stood on a small ledge that seemed to serve the purpose of giving her a starting point. A good ways beneath her was the room's floor, which seemed to be made of spikes. It wasn't hard to guess what would happen if she fell. There was the option of trying to jump between the pillars, but Ei was not particularly agile so an attempt at that could prove fatal. The Black in the room behind her seemed slower now that she had left, almost as though it was waiting for her to give up and turn back (OOC: Separating OP-me and player-me is proving to be a rather fun challenge in this RP)
  20. That depends on how you execute it. But if you were going to pull guns and swords out of your hammerspace, then no it does not
  21. The issue isn't the effects (I haven't gotten there yet). It's having a non-organic power for this. I suppose I didn't make it especially clear, but this is designed around Body Horror and Lovecraftian Superpowers
