Lilith "I'm..." Lilith didn't really want to answer, especially after she and Arturia had mutually turned red. "I'm not really sure, but I think I know how to make a weapon like that girl's bat. But I think it needs period blood or..." Her voice turned to a whisper as she uttered and even more forbidden word, one she wasn't even sure Arturia would know, "Semen." She went totally silent as her face became a burning sun that lit the darkened room, and didn't resume her explanation until Arturia prompted her, "It needs a biological component to be 'born,' so those are the obvious choices." Something was nagging her though. She was certain that her initial thought would work, but it would be very volatile, there had to be a safer way to go about it. "Oh! It's so obvious, I can just use milk!" She now felt doubly foolish over bringing up... The thing she didn't even want to give purchase in her thoughts. It was such a simple answer, there had been no need to embarrass them both. Realizing this just led her to further embarrassment, of course.

Lilith Lilith wanted to scoff at Arturia. She believed in the goddesses, but the idea of actually meeting one in person was something she could only dream of (and she often dreamt of meeting Layla). But it also made a lot of sense to her, perhaps... "I don't know how, but I'm certain my power came from a goddess as well." she muttered, "But a bat accessing an inner power? It would have to find a way to access the soul. A direct connection would be impossible, maybe through the blood stream? No, more direct than that, it would need to go through the nervous system." Lilith's thoughts were moving too quickly for her to question how or why she knew these things, or for arturia to interrupt. "In that case, the best method would be iron and copper. But it would need to be reinforced spiritually, maybe with silver? Then all that would be missing would be a catalyst to destabilize the metals into a spiritually reactive liquid while running a current through. Arturia, when's your next period?" As soon as the question left her lips, Lilith's eyes widened in shock at what she had just asked. Discussing anything related to reproduction openly was very taboo because of the church, though because of the health implications, periods were a bit of an open secret. Still, directly addressing them to another person was an uncomfortable thing.

Lilith Lilith seemed hesitant, yet without actually hesitating to speak. "How is it that you and that other girl have powers like mine?" She asked. Even if she wasn't the only one, it seemed unlikely that two others would show up where she could meet them. Something more had to be going on. Stole Tys Another knock sounded at the door to Kaede's (and now Alva's as well) room. It was too early for Arturia to be back, and Kaede wasn't expecting anyone. There was a non-zero chance that this was a second new roommate, but considering how hard it was to keep even just Arturia in with Kaede, that seemed unlikely. They didn't have to wait long to find out who it was, as they let themselves in. She was a modestly dressed young woman who looked a bit like an older Kaede, perhaps her cousin. Kaede knew her of course, it was her assigned mentor, Stole Tys. She visited occasionally to check up no Kaede and make sure she was prepared for her future. For her part, Tys didn't mind Kaede's generally apathetic attitude, probably because she wasn't much different. She felt that the two had a passable business relationship, and that was all they needed. That didn't mean she was indifferent to Kaede though, in fact Tys legitimately liked her. It was too bad that the entire point of mentoring the girl was to teach her how to not act like herself, Tys thought Kaede was a far more likable person than her mothers and their empty smiles.

Red "A deep growling voice; Sharp and vicious eyes; All the better." The magic circle beneath Red's hand sparked with energy, bolts like red lightning crackled along it's edges. An aura of raw power emanated out from her towards Peter as he retrieved his fairy companion. "Large, attentive ears; Fangs molded from iron; All the better." The energy arcing across the circle increased in their frequency and intensity. The wind picked up, causing red's cloak to whip about, exposing her bloodied torso and limp arm. Peter and his Shadow moved to attack her, forcing her to talk faster. The chant was really just s formality, Susi wouldn't mind if Red rushed a little. "I speak and see and hear for you. Devour for me, The Wolf!" Red's arm flew straight up in the air as she shouted the name of her Noble Phantasm. The magic circle exploded into a burst of light as an enormous wolf tore out of it. The beast's emergence was accompanied by a howl that pierced the night, creating both physical and magical turbulence that threatened to tear Peter from the air. At the same time, the Shadow's sword struck the Wolf, but was easily stopped by the beast's thick fur. Red couldn't help but smirk. As if a mortal weapon such as that had any hope of harming her beloved Wolf. Red might not have been a match for Peter and his familiars on her own, but with Susi by her side she was invincible. -

Red Unable to gain a grip on the wall because of the Shadow, Red simply bounced off it and continued to tumble toward the ground. The sudden shift in direction combined with Peter's attempts to twist the sword deeper into her, resulting in the blade slicing out of her body through her side, taking a chuck of spidery flesh and two of her additional legs with it. Many of her internal organs, including her left lung, were severely damaged and she could no longer feel her arm, but at the very least she was freed from Peter's blade. She tried to right herself before she hit the ground, but there wasn't enough time left and she slammed into the pavement on her good side, causing a Red-shaped dent and further jumbling her injured organs. She recovered from the shocks quickly, using her remaining spider limbs to rapidly roll over and jump backwards out of the way of a potential follow-up attack. Finally standing upright on the ground again, she released the spider install. She was severely injured, if she didn't do anything there was a good chance that if Peter continued his assault she would be killed. But Red wasn't done in just yet. even if she couldn't fight in this condition, she still had one friend who could. "Master, I'm unleashing my noble Phantasm. Ignoring the pain across the entire left side of her body, she lifted her right arm in front of her, palm down, and began to chant. "A deep growling voice; Sharp and vicious eyes..." A glowing red magic circle formed underneath her palm as she chanted, expanding outwards in front of her to a three-meter diameter. -
Caliko The girl let go of Platinum as soon as she was asked. She scratched the back of her head sheepishly. "Sorry, I'm not usually like that." She apologized, "You're just such a cute little girl, I couldn't help it." She looked out into the hall to make sure no one else was around before removing her mask and sunglasses. "I'm Calliope Azreal, people call me Caliko." She said with a deep bow. It was at this point that Esyllt and Platinum would realize where they knew her from. Caliko was a famous pop artist, she was known for her exceptional voice and her fervent promotion of the church (though most artists were known for the latter).

Sharp It didn't take long for Platinum's knock to be answered by a familiar face. "Hello Miss Platinum, are you our new roommate?" Sharp asked. Nothing in his tone or demeanor gave away whether he thought Platinum's presence was a good or bad thing, but at the very least he didn't seem unwelcoming. Her opened the door fully and stepped aside to let Platinum and Esyllt Sharp wasn't the only familiar face present, behind him was a face that Esyllt recognized instantly. Her hair had changed color, becoming white with a hint of blue to it, but there was no mistaking those pale pink eyes. This was the girl who had rescued everyone from Katja. There was also something else familiar about her, but Esyllt would struggle to recall what in the wake of the initial recognition. The girl was lounging on the lower half of one of the room's two bunk beds in her underwear, she seemed largely disinterested in the new arrivals until she noticed Platinum. In a flash she was out of the bed and wrapping her arms around Platinum, whose face ended up shoved in her bare bosom. "By the goddesses you're so tiny and adorable!" She announced cheerfully as she squeezed tighter. At some point between leaving the bed and arriving around Platinum, sunglasses and a surgical mask had appeared on her face, concealing it from any potential onlookers in the hall. It was an odd choice, considering the fact that the rest of her body was still largely exposed.

Rhees was about to tell Vixen how absolutely ridiculous her plan was, when the captain interjected with his opinion. "She's right." He said firmly, "If there's even the smallest chance that we can destroy the Southern Cross here, before the Resanti have it back to full capacity, then we need to take that chance. The galaxy won't get another." "Elijah, we don't stand a chance if we do this." Rhees stood to face the captain, speaking to him directly. "Lieutenant, right now isn't the time for personal appeals. You should know that better than anyone." Matthews told her, "Even if we don't stand a chance, we have to do this. The Cross will be here soon, get our pilots in position." The two had a staring contest before Rhees finally backed down and returned to her station. "Hold that thought, Gunguneel. Altesian, Vulkodlak, get back out there. We're throwing a hail mary." Rhees directed Vixen to lead the corvette over to the Eclipse and prepare for its suicide run. The Cross had already entered orbit of Kelbar IX and would be reaching the Eclipse's position in less than fifteen minutes, so Rhees and her team didn't have time to put together a complex plan, for the most part she would be relying on the pilot's insticts. In other words, they were winging it. "All pilots, the Resanti corvette has been rigged to explode, once it reaches our position, your sole job will be to defend that corvette at all costs until it rams into the Southern Cross. Those that can dogfight, focus on defending it directly. The ones that can't, aim to get to the Cross yourself, drawing away their interceptors. You won't have your usual cover, so be especially careful and don't be afraid to pull back if things get dangerous. The Eclipse will start the run by physically shielding the corvette from the Southern Cross, we'll stay there as long as we can, but once we pull away we're on our own. No matter how many Strikers get to us, keep protecting the corvette." She awaited acknowledgement from the pilots while also keeping careful watch of the Cross and corvette's positions.

Lilith Lilith seemed relieved that Arturia had started a conversation for her, and replied, "I was just scratched up, I got a pretty nasty bruise on my arm but that was the worst of it. The doctors bandaged me up after they took you away and then sent me back to my cabin to rest." Her speech was a little halted, it was painful for her to recall. Physically she'd been rather miraculously okay, but mentally she still hadn't recovered from the ordeal. She was still distrusting of Arturia, she could never bring herself to trust anyone who showed her kindness. Yet at the same time, Arturia had risked her own life to save Lilith, and that made Lilith feel a lot safer with Arturia around. It was almost like having a big sister, Lilith had always wanted a big sister.

Lilith The door stayed shut just long enough for Arturia to wonder if anyone was home, but was finally answered by Lilith. "Arturia! What are you doing here?" She initially seemed excited, but with each word she shifted away from cheerful to suspicious, the final part of her question being accompanied by a suspicious glance over Arturia's shoulder. She looked at Arturia's face for what felt like ages, though their eyes never met, before finally seeming to accept that Arturia had no ulterior motive. "Come in." Her tone still held a hint of caution, but she seemed to mostly be happy that Arturia was there. The inside of the house was almost completely dark, so Arturia struggled to tell where she was until her eyes adjusted, by which point they had arrived at their destination. Lilith sat down at the kitchen table, next to what seemed to be the only open window in the entire house. There was small stack of books on the table, and one was laying open in front of Lilith's seat. Though they were hard to make out in the dim light, Arturia could recognize some of the titles as part of a fantasy series she had read. Lilith very much looked like she wanted to keep reading her book, and didn't seem to know how to interact with Arturia. It was very apparent that she rarely had friends over, if she had ever done so before at all.

Trinity Dial/Lunatic Red -
Arturia It had been three weeks since the school trip and Arturia had spent most of them in the hospital, having gone home early due to her injuries. Kallisto had visited her partway through the hospital stay to help speed up Arturia's healing with her powers and apologize for not doing a better job of protecting her. At the end of the visit, the goddess had also given Arturia Lilith's home address, that was where Arturia was now. Lilith's home was in Estheria, which was the nearest city to campus. It was an hour away by train, and since many of the students or their families lived there, OI provided train passes to all students. Those that lived in the dorms would often travel there on weekends, often just to get away from the school atmosphere. Lilith lived in a quiet, well-kept suburban neighborhood. Her house was two stories tall with light blue siding and plenty of windows (though they seemed to all have closed curtains). In contrast to the extremely neat properties all around, Lilith's front lawn was getting a bit overgrown. The doorbell seemed to be broken, but there was a silver-color knocker suspended from the heavy-looking wooden door that was just waiting for Arturia to use it. Esyllt and Platinum After large school trips, there were often room reassignments. But due to the sheer number of them, they often took weeks or even months to complete. Both Platinum and Esyllt had known they were being transferred out of their rooms since they returned to them after the trip, but hadn't known which room they were being moved to until they were told to move there, which was what they were doing right now. They ran into each other in the hall outside the room they were both being transferred into, both lugging their belongings with them. Neither of them knew who they would be joining once they knocked on the door and went inside. Kaede Kaede was alone in her room. Arturia had gone into town for the day, and their previous roommate had abandoned ship as part of the multitude of room transfers occurring in the wake of the school trip. Their new roommate was supposed to be moving in soon, but they hadn't arrived yet. So Kaede was left alone to go about her business while she waited for a knock to come from the door. Alva As it turned out, that new roommate and her belongings were just outside that very door. Unlike Esyllt and Platinum, Alva knew exactly which room she was transferring into. She shared a few classes with their former roommate, and when she'd heard they were transferring out to escape Kaede, she'd volunteered to take their place. She hadn't seen Kaede since the trip, so Kaede was certain to be surprised when she saw that it was Alva who knocked on her door.

Riley A second ago? That's right, it had only been a short while for the rest of them. Riley didn't remember how she'd felt about the situation before, it had been so long she was surprised she remembered the situation at all. Still, if Alva intended to keep fighting, Riley would as well. "I had a lot of time to think about it." she told Alva, "But if you want to keep fighting then I'll back you up." she paused, she'd had a lot of time to think, and there was one thing she definitely hadn't forgotten. "Uh, by the way, sorry for killing you earlier." She'd been shortsighted in that, and genuinely felt bad for trying to kill Alva without seeking a better solution first. With that said, though perhaps not yet accepted, Riley readied herself to fight once more. Before any of them could make an attack, however, a strange purple sphere encompassed the hourglass. Katja looked confused by this, and seemed about to say something, but another girl walked up and punched Katja in the jaw, knocking her out cold. This girl had short, pale pink hair and matching eyes. She wore a white, short sleeved, hooded jacket which was unzipped in the front. Underneath it was a lamellar vest made of leather, with two plates of purple metal attached to the sides below the ribcage. And underneath that was a padded black shirt. Her hands were adorned with black fingerless gloves which had another metal plate attached across the knuckles. Her wrists and most of her lower arm were covered by leather bracers, though a portion of her arm just past her elbow could be seen to be adorned with a lavender checker pattern. She wore white running shorts with two short curtains of purple cloth hanging off the waist over her upper thighs. Her left leg was covered entirely in the same checker tattoos as her arm and had a small dagger with a wide crossguard strapped to it, while the right had a long purple sock that covered her entire leg up to her knee, both had black combat boots covering her feet. Though Riley herself didn't notice it, there was something distinctly familiar about her to the rest. "My sincerest apologies for taking so long." The new arrival said, bowing deeply, "I'll be taking things from here, please make your escape." A bubble of purple energy formed around her and Katja, though it wasn't totally clear whether it was to keep Katja in or Riley and the others out. Either way, Riley was more than happy to simply have this whole situation over with, at least for now. And besides, their savior had turned her back to them, it seemed unlikely they would any answers even if they asked for them. And so, without asking for further explanation, she said, "Let's not waste this chance." And ran toward the cabins as fast as she could. She couldn't wait to see Lexi again, it had been far too long. -
Can we talk about how TCGs are the original lootboxes?
-
Absolutely. Technically they could be considered gambling in my country as do lootboxes. I do feel that there some fundamental differences thar do deserve leeway.
Tcgs are physical which means that the barrier is bigger and that they are easier to control ( by parents for instance).
Secondly tcg are far more upfront about their "gambling" practices. A tcg is known for the luck and pay to win aspect. In a video game you don't know if lootboxes are there and what they do.
Thirdly tcg are far less manipulative than lootboxes. Achievements for watching people open lootboxes, making the game a grind so you buy lootboxes, forcing you to buy gems to buy lootboxes but make sure that the numbers are off, ... The worst I have seen a tcg do is a short print.
Fourthly tcg are far more free with what you can do. Trading + secondary market really do help. Custom rules are also an option (like proxies).
Finally tcg didn't detract an existing product. You don't buy a game for the lootboxes.

Red Though she knew the Shadow's, Red made no attempt to avoid it. She was too close to succeeding in her attack to back off now, and even if she did back off, the fairy's dust was slowing her down too much for her to dodge anyways. She dug her fangs into Tinkerbell, injecting the tiny fairy with neurotoxin. Though it would have been little more than a mild irritant to a full size servant, for a tiny familiar like this it was a deadly threat. Once the bite was secured, Red dropped her spider install, the vanishing legs and fangs releasing the fairy to fall away as the Shadow dragged Red back into the sky headfirst. Thinking quickly and a little desperately, Red moved her arms up to try to fight the Shadow's grip. "Install." A pair of long yellowish antennae sprouted out from her hood as her fingers wrapped around the Shadow's hands. With an immense amount of strength she tugged the shadow's grasp away from her face, attempting to shove off of them and fall back towards the ground. But taking the time to complete the bite had cost her, and though she managed to shift herself enough to avoid Peter's attack striking her head, the sword still pierced through her shoulder. A sharp cry of pain escaped her lungs, another install riding along it. Another set up spider legs sprouted from her sides, scrabbling at the wall of the nearby building to try to halt her descent and allow her to regain control of the situation before Peter made a follow-up attack with his second blade. -

Rhees picked up Vixen's signal, but refrained from acknowledging it directly. "That's all well and good, Gunguneel, but if we're going to counterattack we need a strategy. At full capacity, that ship not only has a significantly larger compliment of Strikers and Interceptors, but enough guns to sink the Eclipse in a ship-to-ship fight long before you can break through their lines." She responded to Willard, "Unless you can come up with something that will let us take out the Southern Cross without significant risk to our ship and crew, the captain isn't going to rescind his retreat order." Without pausing, she changed a couple settings so she was only speaking to Vixen and so that Vixen was speaking to the entire bridge. "So I really hope you're not suggesting we trust a complete unknown to perform a suicide run, Vixen."

(OOC: Deeply sorry for taking so goddamn long on this) Trick Trick didn't know what more she could do to communicate Alexus's identity, she'd already pointed and even if she wanted to say more, her mouth had already burned away. Using the entirety of her force of will, she held her presence intact for a short while longer. She used that time to raise what was left of her arm and try to better direct the diminutive one's attention to Alexus. She didn't know how far away she would manifest, it could be some time before she could find a proper knight for the goddess of luck, until then she hoped that the diminutive one would be enough to protect her. Riley With Katja unable to escape thanks to Esyllt and Kaede limiting her movement, Riley and Alva were easily able to close the distance and strike at her hourglass. Alva's attack came first, with Katja just barely managing to swing her weapon out of the way. Riley anticipated this move, however, and her sword pierced the hourglass, shattering it open. There was a moment of nothing, where the world seemed to cease existing entirely and she couldn't move. And then a moment became an eternity as Riley realize that not only was she still trapped, she was somehow trapped somewhere worse than before. After several eternities with her mind fading and returning many times across the endless expanse of time, Riley finally noticed that the world wasn't actually empty. No, in fact the problem was that it was completely full. A solid mass encompassed her, completely preventing her movement. And with that, she realized she was choking. Though it hadn't bothered her before, she now felt that the solid emptiness had crept inside her mouth and was blocking her throat. To the outside observer, these events took less than a second in total. What was seen to them was an explosion of metallic dust from the hourglass that engulfed Riley for a short while before the loop reset. When they were returned to the start of it all, they were met with an extremely disturbed Riley, who simply looked at Katja and laughed. "I get it now." Riley said eventually, "That's why this doesn't bother you, you've tempered yourself by going through that hell." Katja nodded solemnly, "Katja tried to warn you." "She can literally do this forever." Riley directed her next statement to Alva, "You might want to consider giving up for now. Kaede and I will do everything in our power to rescue you before anything bad happens to you, but there's nothing any of us can do from in here." -
