  4. So it's a common theme around here that a topic becomes popular, overwhelms main, and those who are not interested in the topic become frustrated. The solution proposed is to move these discussions to a backchannel. My knowledge of this is primarily related to the ever-present League of Legends. Which, despite its popularity, has a backchannel which is oft unused The reason for this is fairly simple: These discussions tend to be spontaneous, and attempting to move them slows them down and kills them off Now I'm not here to decide whether or not discussions about things such as League belong in main. I want to try to brainstorm ways to encourage people to be in their respective backchannels already so we don't have to worry about it in the first place. I've spent a good bit of time trying to coax people to joining the LoL channel, but League discussion is still primarily held in main. If somehow I could convince people to join the channel (something I myself confess to no longer bothering with) then perhaps spontaneous discussion could begin in the channel already and not be killed off by the move With Hope, Lexi
  5. ...I think that gun control comes up a good bit and always results in bad things But also I do think that gun control should be a bit stricter. We oughtn't be openly giving a gun to someone someone with a criminal record or who suffers from a mental condition that could make them a danger to themselves or others However, I don't believe more gun control will actually stop mass shootings like this. If someone is that determined to kill people, they'll find a way to get around the law. That's when you want someone else there who's been trained with a gun to be there and shoot them first. I really wish that, rather than being fearful and paranoid, people would learn to respect firearms and use them properly Coincidentally, I just fell in love with Y.V. so guns have been on the mind~

  8. Oh dear. I just reread this and realized I put on my goddess voice for, like, the entire thing. Sorry that it sounds so pretentious >_< Hatred does not necessarily require anger, it is entirely possible to hate things without feeling any form of hostility towards them. There's a sort of cold, distant hatred that's not all that uncommon >_> I want to be mad since this topic is supposed to be serious. But I keep laughing at this The fears of change and the unknown seems to fuel a lot of things, don't they? Hatred does seem to spawn often from the inability to see error in oneself. That's what I make these threads for, after all, to spawn discussion that helps people see each other more clearly
  9. Alright, hi, before I begin lemme explain a tiny thing about the title. This is still a Lexi Being Lexi post, but I realized a bit late that my use of "debate" in my titles was being taken seriously, whereas I had intended it as a bit of sarcasm. With the realization that sarcasm is universally foolish on the internet, I have chosen to modify my title scheme to be much more straightforward so as not to cause confusing in the future. The goal of these threads is not to argue, it is to spur discussion and create an environment for learning Now then, onto the topic at hand: Hatred People love to hate, it almost seems to come as second nature to us. In many cases we are not subject to our emotional whims either, oftentimes hatred is chosen. But one can't help but wonder why we choose to hate. Hatred is never productive, the hatred of others only leads to greater hatred. Hate sows hate sows hate. On and on it goes in an endless cycle of emotional agony. When we choose to hate one another, we do nothing but harm each other And it is not as though hatred is only harmful to the hated. If anything, it brings greater harm to those who choose to do the hating. It burns inside, tearing one apart with reckless abandon until there is nothing but emptiness and despair I speak this from experience as one who was once consumed by hatred, it is a source of nothing but pain. My choice to hate others caused me to hurt when they were kind to me. And this only fueled my hatred further, making me wish to hurt them back when they had done nothing wrong. And if they had done wrong to me? I did everything within my limited power to tear them down I speak of hatred in a fully negative manner, but perhaps I speak in haste? My own mistakes are surely not what defines this world. Perhaps you can find some place in your heart for hatred where it does not bring harm In short, what are your opinions on hatred? Do you feel as I, that it only tears away? Or do you have a different perspective?
  10. I just realized how much I've matured since coming here. I used to be so full of hatred, and now the idea of hating anyone straight up brings me to tears

huh, well damn. Good on ya then.

Hell, I still fucking have a ball of contempt broiling in my soul that rivals the intensity of the damn sun... though it's more channeled at institutions and various concepts then individual people. Though it was never really channeled at people in the first place.

I'm what the feds would probably think is the perfect profile for a potential domestic terrorist.

  11. Also worth mentioning is that the UK is like a massive part of the EU's economy, so this is a big hit to the EU as a whole (which from my limited understanding was already struggling) as well

  15. I really don't understand why so many people complain about their depression meds. I get it even less after spending the last couple days out of them

  16. Nah. I had an Espeon and Whimsicott was running SubSeed + Stun Spore (for ground types) and Giga Drain No, words always have power. If no one speaks up then hate festers and grows. An issue does not simply cease to exist because one ignores it. The opinions of others do matter. And when in the minority, they matter a lot more than your own The only counter to this is to speak up and defend yourself My highly successful monoNormal Stall team would like to have a word with your innovation
  17. Ahem. Hi there. I'm here to be pissed off about something See, a lot of people be hating on Stall as a gameplay style. And as someone who enjoys Stall teams (both as and against) far more than any other setup, it really frustrates me when people call Stall players cheap and skill-less Don't get me wrong, I'm the one who ran a team that had four Pranksters with Swagger on it a while back, I'm a fucking cheap-ass troll. But playing Stall is not what makes me a cheap-ass troll I hate hate hate playing against all HO teams always, and hate playing them even more. When I think of "cheap" I think of Talonflame (well, early XY Talon at least) and Mega Lopunny. It's no fun (to me) to see any Pokemon on either side get chunked for massive damage. Thing is, my dislike of the playstyle doesn't make it a wrong way to play. And it's certainly not my job to tell you its wrong Now, to many, Stall is a pain in the ass to play against, and I can see why. As kids growing up with the game, we learn to completely avoid status moves and run Charizards with four high damaging Fire attacks and sweep the entire E4. Using status effectively is a lot harder than simply using a bunch of attacks. And even as we develop into a more competitive standpoint, we still tend to focus on dealing as much damage as possible always. It takes a lot of time to break that habit enough to run even Stealth Rock (talk about cheap tactics BTW...) So then when someone has the idea to take things a little slower and try to wear you down while preventing you from dealing damage back, it feels pretty lame. You've learned over and over to hit things as hard as possible as fast as possible, and here someone is not letting you hit them at all. You might feel powerless, and feeling powerless is lame On top of this, Stall is a lot slower than obliterating things, it takes up more time. And while I personally can't stand when a match takes less than twenty minutes, I'm in the minority on the matter and I get that. People are busy. But the thing is, that's not really a reason to call it cheap or cowardly. Annoying and time-consuming and you've got me. Although there's not actually anything wrong with being time-consuming if you have the time to consume. It's not my job to make sure my opponent is always going to have the same amount of time to play as me Now I can't speak as to whether or not stall is any good in the current meta, but Stall as an overall idea is not a cheap trick that gives free wins to people to lazy to learn to play (that's Lando-T that does that ) It's a much more in-depth playstyle that requires a lot of thought to pull off or you'll quickly find yourself obliterated by a much faster team setup that managed to snatch away the game's momentum before you could say "Protect" The fact that those who enjoy Stall are the minority does not make them in the wrong for enjoying it Also, for the record, nobody has any right to tell anyone else what tactic is right or wrong, at least not here on Reborn Thank you for your time, I'll be happy to stall even more of it away anytime we meet on the battlefield With Hope, Lexi

  20. TBH, this is just way to random and all over the place to give any form of cohesive data Have some answers which are actually applicable to me: "Nintendo game" Kirby, in particular Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, is my favorite Nintendo series/game "Old anime" Not sure how you're defining old, but based on what's up there I'm gonna go with Evangelion since that's the only thing I could think of that would fit which I even come close to liking "New Anime" I get to go as far back as 2014? Just so happens Fate/Kaleild Liner Prisma Illya 2wei aired n 2014. It also happens to be my favorite anime "FPS" I don't like FPS games, so the only dedicated FPS I've really played more than ten minutes of is Warframe "Space Game" Well, I do kind of like Starcraft. But even better than Starcraft is FTL: Faster Than Light "Fighting Game" Touhou Hisoutensoku is my favorite fighting game. Although if you want me to pick something a little more popular then the SSB series (particularly Brawl, though I haven't played the original or SSB4) works alright "Poll Quality" Meh. Dobby and Commander have already covered this pretty well so Ima use them as an excuse to not say much here. But as I already said, this is far too inconsistent to be comprehensive
