      True, it doesn't solve anything. But apologies make the offender acknowledge that they're wrong, given that the apology is genuine. At least in my opinion.

      Acknowledgement isn't really necessary imo. If someone doesn't already know they're wrong, then they're not going to genuinely acknowledge it. If they do already know then the only reason to acknowledge it is to appease the offended party, who at least theoretically should be more appeased by reaching a resolution

       

      I suppose I should clarify a bit. My intent is not to say apologies are a bad thing, but that set alone they accomplish nothing

      As far as appeasing is concerned, I believe it goes to a separate topic, since it would involve both the offending and offended party.

       

      But since you gave that clarification, I guess I'll just go with that.
