The speed of light fleeing, of course. The real questions are: are you afraid of the dark? Without another external light source, how well can you see in the dark?
Technically speaking, if there is absolutely no light, no creature can 'see' in the dark. Maybe you can invest some genetic material in developing echolocation or that heat sensing thing that pit vipers do, or something.
