  1. I don't really need help with my team, and I know there are a few moveset issues and general synergy issues, but for in game teams I really try to not go competitive. I just wanted to share with you all my battle with the ice-type dude from episode 14 at the top of the mountain. I was struggling a lot with him, and I had the field effects to blame. At first, I thought these effects were a good idea, and would make the game more realistic, but I then realized that they were only existent to make tough trainers even more difficult without having to actually balance their team or anything. I was wrong. Field effects won me the battle, and I now know that a very viable (but situational) strategy against opponents like mowhawk dude is to flip around their field effects. Because I was going against ice-types on an icy field, I knew I had to change it early on if I wanted to win. I also knew that 100% accurate blizzards weren't doing me any favors, so I had to get rid of Hail. At first, I taught Rain Dance to my Swampert, and would try to use Earthquake or Rain Dance on turn one while my Focus Sash Braviary used Tailwind. This didn't work. Swampert would be KO'ed by Jynx's Energy Ball, and she was just too fast. Braviary would survive for a turn sometimes, but even with the increased speed, I couldn't do much to stop Hail or the field. I switched up my team a little bit. I had a neglected Camerupt with Lava Plume. Lava Plume turned the Icy Field into a Water Surface field, stopping the more powerful ice-type attacks. I gave Camerupt a Focus Sash, and put him in the lead with Braviary (without a Focus Sash cause I only had one). Braviary fainted as soon as Jynx attacked, so I sent out Swampert. Swampert/1-HP Camerupt could ignore Rotom-F's Volt Switch/Thunderbolt, but the Hail damage would end up KO'ing Camerupt at the end of the turn, after it used Lava Plume (I gave Swampert a Rawst Berry just in case I was burned, which I was, a lot). I sent out Toxicroak, so now I have Swampert and Toxicroak on the field. Toxicroak had to get the faster Jynx out of the way, because if it pulled off a Blizzard, the Water Surface field would regress to the Icy Field. After Jynx faints, Swampert can use a super powerful one turn Dive against Rotom-W and faint it. Now, the field changed again, it's an underwater field, which slows down all non-water Pokemon without Swift Swim significantly, and cannot be changed by any Blizzard. Additionally, weather is negated in that field (no hail). Swampert could now use a Torrent boosted field boosted Waterfall against my opponent, and because Toxicroak usually didn't last long, I could use Heliolisk. Heliolisk allowed me to fire off powerful boosted Thunderbolts, which ended up taking out Walrein (who also was boosted by the terrain). Even after all that, because my team was so hugely underleveled, it was Heliolisk vs Frosslass. Frosslass was faster, but was going to attack with an unreliable Blizzard, so I decided to take the safe route and revive my Swampert, who was way faster than 1/4 speed Frosslass. The point is that even if you don't plan to change your team up to abuse your opponent's field effects, try and switch up the field effects to stop your opponent. Rarely will you have a team that fits this type of situation so well that you can change the field twice, but if you do, the win you get will feel so much more worth it. I think I'm going to get a Pokemon that can set up Grassy Terrain and build a team that allows me to change that field effect a few times for some fun.
  2. So I start the episode and I go to the Fiore mansion, someone says they're going to go get surf and to wait a second. She also says the other person (I'm bad with names) went for a walk. I'm not even sure I'm looking for surf at this point, but the girl looking for surf has disappeared. Where do I get it, and if that's not what I should be looking for, what is it that I'm looking for?
  3. Oh! Okay, sorry about that, and thank you for answering!
  4. Sorry to bump this, but I'm also having trouble finding this Swablu. I've been headbutting trees in Chrysolia, and I've tried both day and night to no avail. Is the RNG screwing with me, or what?
  5. I think what would also be cool is a trainer who doesn't associate themselves with a gender at all. Kinda like that one gym leader who owns the dilapidated gym. That would mean 6 people you can start as, but that's cool too. Usually I choose the most hella character out of the bunch. In this case, it's the black girl.
  6. yea we need like four more of those
  7. I think a few "specialty battles" would be cool. Like a few people who do triple/rotational battles, and an inverse battle guy, and someone who does sky battles. I guess these people could be thrown about the region (preferred), or put in a special place, and then I'd make a timed battle, where you would have very strict time limits to win the battle, and it could be thrown into the story pretty well. You have 2 minutes to get past this guy before the timer goes off, and if you don't, you "white out". There could also be a few "practice" time battles with normal trainers who don't make you white out and instead end it in a draw.
  8. Whoa. You win man. Wow. What if, after every battle, Fern's Pokemon healed you instead? Perhaps Roserade could use Aromatherapy, and maybe he could get a Pokemon that could learn healing pulse or softboiled that would help. And, in the end, you'd be able to keep one of his Pokemon or something? I think it'd be cool if we could fix parts of the districts, for example fill in the fissures where they've occurred, and relocate the wild pokemon that inhabit some of the wards, so you could get around pretty easily. Since we don't have fly and won't be having it, I don't think we should have to take the long way around certain areas or have to deal with weak wild pokemon. I'd also have a certain battle where you're knocked out and your pokemon have to do the battling for you, for example in Emerald there's a certain challenge where you have to let your Pokemon battle alone and you can't tell them anything. I think it'd promote the bond between you and your pokemon (because isn't it dictated by friendship?).
  9. Know how the daycare guy asks if you want the egg or not? I guess maybe if you said no, he'd just keep it and you'd be paid, with a line saying something along the lines of "I'm going to give this to the re-population center. Maybe you could pick up the check?". I'm not super keen on this idea though, it seems like it's a small amount of work for potentially big gains. And if you wanted to make it so that it was more difficult, it'd require a lot of scripting.
  10. I've purposely been not listening to the rest of the songs because when I unlock them it'll be really cool listening to them for the first time. I did listen to this one and the Pokemon dance mix though, they're the only songs I've heard beforehand..
  11. After sneaking around in the sound files (because I love this game's soundtrack), I found a mysterious piece called "Gotta Drop 'em All". It's the violin-dubstep remix of the Pokemon theme, for those who don't remember it. I heard it before I played this game, and I was wondering (because there was no information) who made it? Or a link to it or something it's such a good song and I want to know more!
  12. Hah? TV? Just got rid of the cable a few weeks ago. Next person loves the colour green.
  13. Aww please don't tell me you don't like this, it's awesome! Personally I don't mind Smogon. Think about it in an exploit sorta way. A lot of people copy the most popular Smogon sets word for word. So if you understand these and figure out the counters, there's a good chance you'll be a cut above those who copy them. Think about it, how many bulky Alakazams have you seen? Imagine a competitively viable bulky Alakazam (I don't know if one exists). One of those things would completely catch the opponent by surprise. So my trick is using smogon to know what not to use. Maybe it's not as huge of a threat as before, but one of the biggest factors in Pokemon is prediction. If you can predict accurately you're guaranteed to do much better than just having several strong pokemon with good sets.
  14. That post that tells you how to introduce yourself scared me so I thought about what to say for way too long, and as a result, I had way too much to say. Yeah I think I'll wait till 10.5, too. Pickup's chances of working again are pretty high (I read that pickup teams were really popular so I made one myself, needless to say I was dissappointed) I saw the post for the holiday party, it seems like you guys have fun there. Maybe I'll check it out. I need to re-download PO though (ever since smogon changed it to PS I've stuck there) 10.5 it is! Was it you who registered me? And was it because you saw the message that I made (from typing in the box under 'Member Info')? Until the bug is fixed, you could just tell new people to post there, as long as you see it, I guess. But thank you! Hmm, Lucky Star? Maybe I'll add it to the (ever growing) list of anime I'm to watch. But but but your name is engraved on me, how are you supposed to regift something like that huh?
  15. The few days I had to wait for my administrator registration thing (which I really think should be removed) was worth it, because being able to join this place is like my present. And of course, my existence on these forums is my present to you! Just kidding, I'm not that sassy. I just really liked this game and I'm pretty happy it's a work in progress because now I can watch what's going on and being part of something like that is amazing. I found this game on Tumblr, and it was because of the recoloured shiny Crobat, it had purple and black, I think. A few links later I'm playing this game, which I'm pretty sure is the best fanmade Pokemon game ever. Really. I've been trying to get into Flora Sky (an Emerald patch) and it doesn't even compare (but it is a pretty good game so far). What I love about this game is the challenge. I don't know how I can be equally leveled with these opponents but still have a difficult time and it's so much fun, because I battle competitively a little bit (a little bit) and I really get to use my skill (even though I'll reset multiple times in a battle and will too often rely on the small chances status from certain moves). Compared to Pokemon Flora Sky (which just makes the gym leaders hugely overleveled, or maybe the wild pokemon underleveled), I feel like this game actually gives you a real challenge. And the lack of bugs! Oh god it's amazing! Just, wow. From someone who has heard about programming once or twice, I know that when you fix one bug, you get, like, 3 more. And throughout the entire game I've found one game-breaking bug (which I should report--how do I do that) and a few minor ones and that's awesome. I finished my first runthrough a few days ago, and I was wondering: do people run through the games a lot and is it in my best interests to go through it a second time? I heard about the Elekid with the holding chance of the Electrizer and I was feeling Electivire. But that begs the question: how realistic is it to go about creating perfect (or semi-perfect) Pokemon? From what I see, people are using Pokemon that I would consider ready for a competitive battle, minus IVs (and some of you even got those down). I don't like grinding unless there's a good area to do it at or if I've got a great advantage (e.g. my Honchkrow against all those Psychic types under the Grand Gates). Oh, and is there any speculation on adding the changes X/Y brought (as in the stat increases for certain Pokemon, the move changes, and the fairy type additions to old Pokemon)? Okay, that's a lot. Maybe I'll wrap it up in some key bullet points. How do I report bugs? (I shouldn't be lazy and ask this and instead search around the site but, eh) Should I run through the game a second time or wait for 10.5? Work on creating perfect Pokemon? X/Y's impact? My attention span is from here | | to here (actual size). I'll try to be active, and I know if I make an effort it won't be a problem, but I'm only as active as the other members. And this game definitely has my interest sparked, so I wouldn't hint at any issues in my (in)activity. Yes, that is me and I play mostly Pokemon, sometimes Minecraft too.
  16. Could I have an administrator's assistance in my account validation? I'd really like to start posting sometime soon
