  1. Marc Chastain chuckled as he waved Slade goodbye. Slade's haste had made him think of his old days as an ever so active youth. "Adieu then! Let me know if you ever need anything!" he called after him. Once Danielle's boyfriend was out of earshot, the man gave a sigh and began to walk after him at his own leisurely pace. "Even though we are going back to the same place... Well, Carole and Danielle will be glad to hear that this is taken care of... Isn't that right, Avis?" He then heard a flurry of wing beats as Avis landed onto his shoulder once more. "I knew you wouldn't leave me to get lost on these grounds... Now when did you learn how to turn doorknobs?" Mr. Chastain asked Avis as they made their way back to the fair.
  2. {Gym crew} "G-Good luck Adam and Pine..." Miki said softly before she walked over to the bleachers. Although she knows Candice isn't as big of a threat as Gardenia was, the girl was still nervous about the upcoming match. Raito walked by her side, remaining silent all the while. He was twitching his ear, lost in his train of thought as she stared out at the frozen battleground. {Conclave Crew} ((As clarified by Notus (and for those that forgot like me), you are free to control the acolyte battles. So go all out, if you dare~))
  3. Avis ran out from her human father's hand and began to peck at the shiny stone in her curiosity, which prompted Marc Chastain to grab the bird to avoid further trouble. "Excuse Avis, this bird has a habit of investigating anything she fancies. Now now Avis, that is a Fire Stone. It's not for you." He laughed, relieved to see that things aren't all as dim as it first appeared. As soon as Avis calmed down, Danielle's father also got up and put his chair back in its rightful place. "There is nothing for you to be confused about at all, Slade. Your mother obviously cares about you enough to put all that has happened behind her. I'm also sure that, despite what he said and how he reacted, your father feels the same way, deep down inside. He just couldn't accept it yet. Give him some time." Avis flew ahead of the men and somehow managed to open the door. With a happy cry, she zoomed out of their vision. Marc Chastain sighed at the bird before turning to Slade. He managed to fall in line with Slade so that he could, hopefully, teach him a life lesson he had learned the hard way. "There is one thing that you should take from this though and that is the importance of communication." He paused to let it sink in. "Danielle did tell me about your tendency to run away from your worries. As you could probably see, it didn't do you much good. If your Pokemon had not given me the opportunity to deliver this to you, you would not have known how supportive your mother was and is after all of this time. By speaking out, you are giving them something to think about. You are now given the possibility of changing their opinions and beliefs for better or for worse. Running away will not even give you that chance, and I feel that it is a wasted opportunity, especially in your case." He sighed as he looked ahead. "Believe or not, I wasn't too fond of that Murkrow when she first arrived at my house. Avis loves shiny loot and that includes my keys. When she first settled in, Avis would always hide my keys somewhere, which resulted in me having to buy a new set of keys, only to have them stolen again and again and again. I had asked for them back - and even looked for them - but she always laughed at my feeble attempts. I managed to put it off since it wasn't a big deal. One night, however, I finally had enough. Work was stressful after a breakdown at the Pokeball Factory, so I wasn't in the mood for her shenanigans. When I found out that my keys went missing again after a shower, I blew up and yelled at everyone, especially poor Avis. I secluded myself in my room the whole night and eventually drifted off to sleep. The next morning, however, I found myself staring at fifteen sets of keys and a guilty-looking Avis. It was only then I realized that she meant no harm; she thought we were playing a game. She has misunderstood me because I didn't speak up, and I paid dearly for it. And that is why I am imparting this knowledge onto you today." Marc Chastain smiled warmly at the younger boy. "And if you want to know what happened to those keys, I gave two sets to her: One for her to keep, and another for her to hide somewhere outside my home just in case one of us forgot to bring their keys with them before the left the house. I still couldn't find it to this very day. The other 13 sets are now in a drawer just in case we need them." -------------- Back as the stall, Danielle smiled and gave a polite bow to Mrs. Sisto and the Bisharp. As if on cue, Zared also gave Danielle two cups of hot chocolate for her to hand over to their new arrivals. "Thank you, Zared~" she chirped before offering the cups to Mareek's family. "Fine hot chocolate on the house, Kalosian style~ Why don't you take a seat and catch up with Mareek? It must have been a long way to get here from your home."
  4. {Gym Squad} After much consideration, Miki finally convinced herself to follow the group that was heading for the gym. She examined the ice field, oh how it sparkled against the lights that are hanging overhead. However, this also posed a problem for her Jolteon, since he would not be able to dodge as easily as he could on solid ground. 'This is like that battle with the breeder, only it's more serious this time.' Miki shuffled nervously as the group decided on who to go first. When Adam stepped up to the plate, she glanced at him before she considered his teammate. "Since Adam has a Honchkrow, wouldn't it be wise to have someone who could take electric and ice moves? I could take electricity well enough but with ice..." {Conclave Squad} Up above on the third floor of the building, a lone woman with piercing dark, brown eyes was staring out of her window in her office. She was dressed in the ceremonial garb that indicated her status as the Mother of this snow-covered landscape. She remained motionless as her trusty companion, a white and purple, weasel-like Pokemon approached her side. The Pokemon adjusted her long arm fur that drapes over its hands, twitching her whiskers all the while as she watched the scene down below. Both contented themselves to the view, waiting for the group outside to make their move.
  5. Mr. Chastain listened to Slade's side of the story in silence, nodding every once in a while to encourage Slade to continue. After he has finished his narrative, the elder man remained silent as she processed the information. When he saw Slade looking at the gift curiously, Marc chuckled and stroked Avis. "Before I give my opinion, why don't you open up what your mother has given you? Perhaps things aren't as bad as you make it out to be." Avis crowed contently as Mr. Chastain pet her. She then eyed the gift curiously. Were there any shiny, pretty things in there?
  6. "Of course not. She's just over dramatic; don't take it personally." Danielle gave him a pat on the shoulder before she went back over to Zared and Corona, who were busy preparing some expressos and coffee. As she peered out from her coffee stand, Danielle's eyes fell upon a woman with red that look a lot like Mareek. The shiny Bisharp that is walking with her was also eyeing Mareek curiously, as if he has seen him before. "Mareek, I think someone is here to see you~" she called to the quiet boy. ------------- "Yes, that would certainly not be comfortable for the both of us!" Danielle's father agreed. Once he was inside, Mr. Chastain gave one long whistle, as he was impressed by his surroundings. "That Professor Redwood sure knows how to make his students feel at home. I'm glad Danielle made the decision to come here." He then took a chair and sat himself by Avis, who was nestled comfortably by the Flareon plushie. One could mistake her for a doll if her eyes didn't wander around the room. "Now then. The reason why I'm here is because of Avis. She freaked out over your parents and begged for me and my wife to come over and help Danielle. While this is natural for any other Pokemon to freak out over a parent meet and greet with boyfriends and girlfriends - and yes I know about you two - Avis is an exception. I'm sure Danielle has told you about her past; barely anything has fazed her after that event. So, I just want to understand why your parents were so scary to her."
  7. Hello hello. I'm known as DarkLight, but call me Dark or DL if you want. I'm not picky. The Reborn forums is the first forum I have ever roleplayed in, so I am relatively new to the experience. Before finding Pokemon Reborn, I was always reading fanfictions and other RP related stuff from my high school friend. Why didn't I join an RP back then? The roleplays that she was in didn't catch my attention that's all. I was, and still am, more of a reader than a writer, but I making stories with one another here on this forum was enjoyable and helped me relieve some stress from real life. What are my strengths? To be honest, I have no clue. I guess one would be transitioning in between paragraphs. I usually make my paragraphs flow easily from one to another, even in college essays. My English professors have praised me for it. My major weakness, would have to be characters. I could make them with a distinct personalities but I will be stuck without goals and ideals for each of them. Another flaw would be my lack of vocabulary; I was never good at memorizing anything so it resulted in me using the same words over and over again. I'm trying to branch out and remember my SAT words as I type, but it's a slow process. Grammar is also a given for me. Everyone probably has seen my switch tenses so often that they gloss over them by now. As for what I have written, I'm sure you will find something from me in the RP forums easily. For a trip down my progress, Aftermath is the one to go to since there is a huge time gap from when I first started writing on the forums in Chapter 1 to Chapter 3, which is now taking place 1 year later. I hope to learn more from everyone and develop my own writing style as long as I still have time to visit here. So, like the others have said before me, I hope you enjoy my writing~
  8. 13 Azery and Link, take it to the battlefield after the winter cup is over xD
  9. {At the stall} Danielle's mother shook her head in disapproval at Mareek's performance. While Mareek's ploy was a great way of marketing his wares, his expression was too hostile to invite many spectators, let alone maximize his potential profits. Putting on a facade of suspicion and curiosity, Carole Chastain approached the tray that contained the fallen sculptures and held up a dainty-looking wooden Rayquaza, making sure that the other onlookers could have a view of the beauty. After turning it this way and that to find any flaws, Mrs. Chastain gave a wide smile and nodded towards her audience. "No scratches nor dents seen here, folks! The boy and his Pokemon certainly held up their end of the bargain! His wares are certainly a masterpiece!" As the initially skeptical shoppers began to file in to confirm her thoughts, Mrs. Chastain put the Rayquaza back onto its tray and winked at Mareek. "You did well over there. Just control your emotions a little better. An angry patron will not attract many customers, no matter how amazing his work is~" she said quietly to Mareek before she walked back outside to rejoin her daughter. While this was going on, Danielle groaned in embarrassment as she watched her mother show off her natural talent as a saleswoman. Carole Chastain is one of the best salesperson back at Laverre's clothing shop, after all. It's not that she was ashamed, but she really didn't want her mother putting her friends on the spot like that. She gave an apologetic look towards Mareek before her mother came back to fetch her wooden picture carving. "Now, Danielle, since Mr. and Mrs. Kafkin aren't around yet, I shall go and put this masterpiece back at my hotel room. It would not do to have it ruined while we are walking around and I might as well make the most of the time before your father gets your boyfriend back here~" Mrs. Chastain said casually as she snatched her commission from Danielle's hands. "Adieu~~" "B-Bye mom..." Danielle only muttered weakly as she watched her mother skip away. She then heard amused chuckles from her two remaining Pokemon. "Oh, I'm glad you two found it funny at my expense," the coordinator chided. "Now, let's go back and help Lana and Mareek. I could see some people wanting some drinks too..." While her Pokemon began to take orders once more, Danielle made extra cups of hot chocolate and handed them over to Mareek, Lana, Raiza and their Pokemon. "Free of charge; the coffee shop broke even a long time ago so you got lucky Raiza," Danielle teased. "And sorry about mom... She has a knack for selling stuff and can go overboard..." --------------------- {At Slade's room} "And you guessed correctly, monsieur!" Marc Chastain said jovially as Avis zoomed into the room. "A pleasure to meet you, Slade Kafkin. Marc Chastain, but just call me Marc. I'm never one for formalities." He held out his hand for Slade to shake. "As for why I am here... Well, first, I need to give you this." He held out the gift that Slade's Pokemon had given him. "Your Pokemon asked me to give this to you while I was on my way here. Which leads me to my personal reason for coming here. Although, as Avis pointed out in her own way, it might be best if we discuss this in private. Would you mind letting me inside?"
  10. 'So much for peace and quiet,' Nivia thought disdainfully as the Gible line ran towards them. She paused for a moment process Zephyr's plea before she gave a heavy sigh, as if this whole confrontation bored her. A bunch of Ground and Dragon types should be no challenge for her. The Dewgong flopped herself over and placed herself between the group and the incoming dragons. "Patience, Houndoom. We would want to conserve what energy we have for what is up ahead. I can take care of them." Nivia addressed the feisty hellhound before she made an icy borderline between her and the Gibles. 'That should make them think twice before they charge forward.' "I would advise you to stop here and state your purpose if you know what is good for you," Nivia warned the dragons in a bored voice. "Should you refuse, do not blame me for freezing you into popsicles."
  11. 2 And more times to press "mark as read"! Will reply to Slade after I get some sleep.
  12. 1927 Almost as bad as 70 Well, Slade's already meeting Danielle's father. How well would he take it?
  13. Marc Chastain followed Sasuke's directions, taking a mental note of the room number. He then accepted the surprisingly warm package along with the note with his free hand, nodding gratefully to the Frogadier for giving him a chance. "Thank you very much, I'll get to it once you are finished with the order... Which is right now!" He then tried to reach for his wallet, but realized that he now has no free hands. Mr. Chastain laughed at his own foolishness and turned to call his family. "Carole, Danielle, a little help here please?" ------------- Once he dropped off the lunch order and his wooden picture with Danielle and his wife, Mr. Chastain sauntered off towards the boys' dorm to find Slade. He also got Avis to come along, since the bird could provide Slade a proof of his identity as Danielle's father. Marc Chastain now has one hand holding onto Slade's gift while he was munching on a shish kabob with his other hand. "I got to say, Avis, your friend really did a great job with these. I should have gotten more of these before we left! I just hope Carole, Danielle and her friends enjoy them as much as I do!" He offered the last bit of meat to the bird, who gobbled it down eagerly. Avis then crowed her agreement, ruffling her feathers with happiness. Mr. Chastain chuckled as he tossed the stick in a nearby garbage can; the Murkrow never failed to amuse him. "So, room 213 it is. Knowing you, though, you know how to get there easily. So, I'll let you lead the way." As he expected, Avis flew for the straightforward route towards Slade's room. Once he got there, Avis seated herself on Marc Chastain's shoulder and let him proceed with the human courtesies of entering one's room. "Good girl, Avis!" Mr. Chastain complimented his daughter's Murkrow before he knocked on the door. Then, he stepped back and waited patiently for Slade to open the door. He also began adjusting his black, leather jacket and his dark blue denim jeans to make himself look presentable. Avis decided to cry out a greeting to let the boy inside know who was outside his room.
