Pokémon Academy: Ch 2a: Dragons [IC]

'And the number one a**hole of the year goes to... Me...' Danielle thought to herself, fighting back her own tears. After Jacob finished his confession, she put her head down with her arms crossed; she couldn't bear the thought of seeing poor Jacob's tears and the agony he went through these past six weeks. It is not as if Danielle never dealt with rejection before; it's the fact at that she hasn't rejected someone when she likes another guy. To make matters worse, her admirer is one of her two closest friends and he knows about her feelings for the other close friend. Although she tried to reject those fuzzy feelings, they eventually came out. Go figure, Danielle was never great at hiding her emotions anyway. She finally held her head back up to face Jacob, the guiltiness welled up within her as she tried to speak. As she learned from her past experiences with guys, the best way to deal with rejection is to be honest, no matter what. "Jacob, I'm so so sorry for my ignorance. I never wanted to hurt you; you're my best friend. It's just---" A loud, sudden roar echoed throughout Devin's garden, jolting her out of her stupor. The sounds of footsteps, make that very loud footsteps, were then heard. With each passing second, they seemed to get louder and louder, almost as if they were rushing towards them. Out of the corner of her eye, Danielle spotted Glacien delivering an ice ball towards... Two Haxorus?! "Mon Dieu! T-Talk about rude!" Danielle snapped to no one in particular. Of course, her insult was not heard by the incoming dragon horde. She instinctively got behind Jacob's back to face any incoming danger from that direction, holding out Avis' Dusk Ball. "Unfortunately, our company doesn't seem to know the meaning of privacy, so we will have to continue this later. But, know this: We will always be friends, no matter what. So with that being said, let's get ourselves out of here. I doubt we can face them all at our current level." Danielle said quickly, wiping away some of her tears. She took a look at Ryan, who has fallen into the mud as he tried to escape. "Avis," Danielle called, letting the Dusk Ball face the two Haxorus, "Operation D-F to those Haxorus now! Stay out of their range of attacks!" With a burst of black aura the emancipated from the Dusk Ball, Avis zoomed towards Ryan and Glacien before she released a huge mass of black feathers towards the dragons to blind their sight. The Murkrow quickly flew up to the sky to await for further orders. ------------------ In the woods, Corona sighed as Jacob confessed his feelings. Although that will be solved, another problem will arise. Most people will now know that her master has a crush, too. Corona looked up at Slade and chirped, as if she was asking something. Before she could get a response, however, the loud roar punctuated the area and, seconds later, the Larvesta saw 3 pairs of red eyes behind Slade. Corona gave a loud cry and pointed to his back with her tiny arms, hoping to alert Slade to the incoming danger. -
Last post for tonight. I'll leave you to absorb the information until I finished getting some zzz's.

Danielle considered her words carefully; she could sense that this was not something to be taken lightly. She has a slight clue of what could be on his mind, but Danielle held her tongue. "Of course I remember. You praised my mischief-making bird. But," she paused, adjusting her wrist straps, "I can guess that there was another reason, judging by what you just said. Avis was an excuse, wasn't she?" -

"Avis," Danielle called as she held out her Dusk Ball, "Come back." Avis flew down onto her shoulder, but gave Danielle a concerned expression. Avis certainly doesn't trust Ryan after her brief encounter with him. "I'll be fine Avis, don't worry." Danielle said, giving a few strokes on the wing. Avis sighed and gave a friendly peck on her ear before disappearing into her Dusk Ball. After putting Avis' capsule back on her belt, Danielle turned to face Jacob. "Is everything okay? What happened to you?" She asked softly. -

Danielle raised an eyebrow at that comment. She never knew Jacob was hiding something from her... Then again, her Pokemon were also hiding something. Are they connected? She stood still, waiting for Avis to give a signal that the coast is clear. ------------ Avis' expression showed no emotion, cocking her head this way and that to assess the situation. When the coast is deemed clear (meaning that Ryan is not going to punch someone in the face) she raised a wing before flying off to a tree branch. --------- "We can go now," Danielle whispered to Slade. "If you don't want to though, you could stay here. I have a feeling that this is something only I could solve." She walked over to pat Corona. "This was what you were hiding, right, Corona?" Without waiting for a reply, Danielle walked over to meet Jacob and Ryan. --------- Corona chirped sadly as Danielle walked alone. She crawled onto Slade's shoulder and tried snuggling against him; she was scared of the outcome. -

After running for several minutes, Avis suddenly stopped in their path, causing Danielle to almost crash into her. "Avis, why in the --?" Danielle was instantly muffled by Avis' wing. As soon as she was quiet, Avis flew to a nearby tree branch and gestured to what is in front of them, remaining silent all the while. Danielle turned her head towards the said direction and found Jacob, Teo, Chalchi and Ryan (if she remember correctly) sitting there by a huge tree. The three appeared to be trying to comfort Jacob. Danielle looked at Avis with a look that asked "What now?" She figured that Avis and Corona were silent for a reason, so she must communicate the same way before making a potential mistake, whatever it may be. Avis blinked at Danielle and turned to Ryan and Jacob. She put one black wing to her beak before flying off towards the two boys, leaving Danielle and Slade behind. ---------------- "Murkrow?" Avis asked quietly as she landed on a dead tree log, making sure to keep respectable distance from the group. -

Corona sighed with relief as Danielle caught up with her and Slade. She chirped loudly to Danielle as if she was telling her to hurry up. "I never thought I would say this," Danielle said, a little short of breath, "But maybe I do need the gym class after all... Anyways, we can continue running. I just wanted to catch up so I won't get lost..." Avis straightened herself out and took a look around her, trying to remember the route they are taking. The Murkrow flew off of Danielle's shoulder and landed on a nearby tree branch, waiting for Flare to lead the way. -

"Sorry for the short introduction, Robert, but this is really important to us. Shiro, Shun, we can talk later!" Danielle quickly apologized before speeding off after Slade and Flare. 'Avis was never this quiet before. And Corona was never this nervous. I must be really missing something important, but what?' "Slade, wait up!" ----------------------- Corona clung onto Slade's fedora for dear life as he sped into the forest. She chirped to Slade to try and get him to slow down and wait for her master. It is important for Danielle to be at the scene because the situation, if her instincts are correct, could be solved by Danielle. -

Danielle was shocked at what had just transpired. That wasn't like Jacob at all. Did they do something that made Jacob run off like that? She stood there with her arm reached out to try and stop him until Slade asked if they should go after their friend. "Y-You're right, let's go and find him. Avis---" The said Murkrow was instantly by their side; Avis looked a bit sad though as she look to where Jacob was last seen. The bird then gave a heavy sigh before she perched on her master's shoulder. Corona also gave a sad cry as she sat on top of Slade's head, knowing what Avis was thinking. Danielle looked at both of them quizzically; they must know something that she doesn't. "Avis, Corona, what are you two hiding from me?" Danielle asked. No response came from the Larvesta; Avis, however, pointed to Danielle and Jacob with her wing before she fluffed herself up and rested her head on her body. It's better for Jacob to explain it than she, herself; Avis did promise not to tell her master after all. -

"Thanks Slade. I really appreciate it." Danielle smiled at Slade's encouragement; it was exactly what she needed in order to keep a clear head once she found that Pokemon. Corona also chirped, agreeing with what Slade said. She would be happy to help out, and she would need to since Avis can't really touch fairies without putting herself at risk. Corona looked down below at Slade's Pokedex as Danielle shifted through its information. The Larvesta then looked behind them and chirped in alarm, not realizing that they have more visitors. "Hey, this Pokemon suits you mister I-am-faster-than-anyone-else-here," Danielle teased. "Let me know if you need any help as well. I will be rooting for you on the sidelines." Corona's chirp then made her turn around to find Shiro and a new guy she hasn't met before, or at least she's not familiar with. "Hello there Robert and Shiro! I'm Danielle and this is Slade and Corona. Jacob is up ahead and Avis, my Murkrow, is up above our heads. And yes, I had a honor of helping Shun out with her burn a long time ago so that was the start of our friendship~" Danielle greeted cheerfully. -
At this rate, Danielle x everyone will be canon. I'm jealous of Claude now. lol @Commander: Too many options make my head spin~

Corona squirmed out of Danielle's arms and jumped her way to Slade's arm. She almost fell off because of her tiny legs, but she managed to steady herself before crawling up to his hat and sitting on it. The Larvesta chirped, feeling accomplished for conquering Mount Everest. Danielle chuckled before answering Slade. "No dragon for me either, although I don't know if I will ever get one. No dragon has caught my eye yet, not even Flygon. Besides, I need to fix my Rock weakness first!" she pulled out her Pokedex with Mawile's information and showed it to her friend in red. "This can fix that and the fairy weakness that my team has, but I'm nervous about it too. It is a fairy type after all..." -
You're breaking my heart, Chimchain. And you had to throw in my favorite dragon Pokemon in there (Flygon). I will be fangirling when it comes back to the ground.

Danielle grinned. "Glad to see that your Agility has worn off too, good sir. And you know I can't resist company~" 'Especially your's... Wait, what?' Corona waved her little arms at Slade, overjoyed to see them together. Danielle and her Larvesta then looked up when Jacob pointed to the Flygon and Claude that were soaring gracefully overhead, barely taking in what Jacob just said. The coordinator-in-training stared at the Flygon in awe before returning back to Earth. Although her head was in the clouds, Jacob's infectious enthusiasm made her laugh. "Alright then! Let's see what Pokemon are up for grabs then! I'll be following right behind you~ You know," she said, turning to Slade this time, "Since Jacob seems to have a Pokemon in mind already, what about you, Slade? Are you going to follow those students and get a dragon too?" Avis, overhead, was almost blown off course by the Flygon that was carrying Claude. She sighed; being a small bird certainly has its limits with air space. Avis looked after the Flygon that soared higher and higher into the clouds before she lowered her gaze to the ground, spying on the groups of students that are disbanding into the forest. Avis took notice of Slade in particular, since her master was there, and Jacob, just in case Teo's trainer got himself into trouble from his excitement. -

"I'm so glad I wore pants today. This trek is so not made for dresses." Danielle said to herself as she took in the breathtaking view of Devin's garden. She is not too excited about getting a dragon since she already has her next Pokemon in mind, but it wouldn't hurt to examine which dragon could join her party in the future. She let out Avis and Corona so that they can get some fresh air themselves. Avis stretched out her wings before taking off into the air to look at her surroundings while Corona crawled into Danielle's arms. "Avis, don't get into trouble with the dragons here. They belong to Professor Cadmus, you know." Danielle warned her nosy Murkrow. She heard a cry from Avis before seeing her fly over a short distance ahead of the group. Danielle was then greeted by Shiro and Shun, who didn't seem too interested in the dragons either. "Hi Shiro and Shun! What's up?" "Come on, guys! We're losing daylight here and I want to catch a new Pokemon!" Jacob shouted to her and Slade. "Oh dear, Jacob is getting too excited about getting a Pokemon." Danielle giggled before addressing her friend. "Jacob, hold your Ponytas! We are still on Professor Cadmus' ranch, none of the Pokemon here are for you! Or did you forget about that basic rule of Pokemon catching already~" She turned back to Shiro. "My Pokemon and I going to go ahead with Jacob and Slade into the forest to look at some dragons... And keep on eye on Jacob. Come join us!" she invited Shiro before heading off to join Teo's trainer, careful to avoid the beaten up battlefield. When she turned back around to see if he was following, however, she saw that Shiro went off to find Robert. Seeing that he is with good company, Danielle shrugged and walked off to join Slade and Jacob. ((EDIT: got ninja'd)) -
You don't have to avoid it. I was just poking fun at how many straight guys are going to Danielle. XD
-
Make that two (thanks Bfroger!) I'll make Danielle tell him about that. Or ExLink could if he gets it up before me
-
Yes I do lol! The thing is, Danielle is more about making her Pokemon look more appealing rather than fighting. (I still have to ask Jacob about the ball capsules, I know) Later on, though, I think I will make her ask just to add another dimension to this triangle. This is going to be complicated...

"Thank you so much, Michael... And everyone here!" Artemis chirped politely. Before Artemis could ponder on how Michael could have known about her and teammates, MacMillan showed up to ask about the bag, just like the Alakazam predicted. Artemis opened the bag and showed the Zangoose the 5 oran berries, 1 revive herb, and 500 Poke. "Those con-men had it pretty well made, huh? Serves them right to get caught." Seeing that she was holding up the line, Artemis decided that it was time to move on. "We better get back to Otto; we will have more time to examine these things there." The tiny bird grabbed the bag with her two feet and began to fly away from the crowd. However Artemis flew pretty low to the ground due to the weight of the bag.

Don't worry about it, Notus. I'm sure we all understand that real life takes priority over internet stuff. Take care of yourself!
