Introduction~
Welp, i'm late to the party. This has been a very common set that I've been using on most of my ventures into OU thus far. This team has been built a long time ago but I never choose to RMT it. After awhile I thought that this might be a good template to show off the sheer force and power of slowing down people's game and proving to everyone that Breloom is beyond awesome in this generation. Let's get on the road!
Background Teambuilding~
Naturally this set came from a very good friend of mine, Renzo. One day he though that Rock Tomb Breloom would be the absolute best idea he came up with. Naturally I decided to use this idea and I've built up a team before that used Breloom, Florges, and a few others and had some decent success with it. Overtime some of the top ladderers got smarter and built better Hyper Offensive teams to ruin my game so the idea was scrapped. Later on Summer helped me on with making a this set but instead of using Breloom as just a pivot he suggested a build that can help around Charizard-X. Naturally I made some modifications on my own but this is the final product. I have to say, I love this team.
Teambulding~
Pokémon In Depth~
Apache (Breloom) (F) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Mach Punch
- Rock Tomb
- Spore
- Bullet Seed
Primary lead of the team is Breloom with Focus Sash. Breloom is one of the most underrated leads in that most Rotom-W sets run Chesto Resto. Also with Greninja and Genesect not too far behind Breloom is a very reliable pokemon that can use Bullet Seed to score some clean KO's and to widdle down on the Hazard Leads like the Deoxys Brothers [D and S]. Rock Tomb is a very useful Coverage move that can surprise people and score some easy OHKO's against Volcarona, Charizard-Y. and etc.
Pringles (Jellicent) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Taunt
- Surf
A very good Defensive wall against some very common Physical Megas like Khan or Lucario, Jellicent can effectively stop a sweep from both of the Physical Sets and cause more chipping damage to the enemy team. Jellicent also can act as a decent Spinblocker if Landorus-T choose to go for Stealth Rocks and also has decent synergy with it.
Lynx (Landorus-T) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock / Stone Edge
Landorus-T forms a job to get be an amazing Pivot and to murder stall teams using lefties or chip off Toxic Orbs. A very useful pokemon when I get the upper hand and do all the right moves. I alternate between Stealth Rocks and Stone Edge based on my performance and what I need at the moment. The set is obscure because i'm not running Stone Edge and Earthquake all the time because I figure, why have Stone Edge when I already have a pokemon that has Rock Coverage down? That's the cat for me people.
Retaliation (Scizor) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Defog
- Roost
- U-turn
The prime Defogger of the crew. Scizor takin' up Physical hits and eating them from breakfast. He also can reliable force switches against common Clerics like Blissey, Florges, or Sylveon. Couple with momentum that fits with Landorus-T, good synergy and power; what can you go wrong with a bug like Scizor?
Fleetwood (Florges) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Moonblast
- Aromatherapy
- Wish
- Protect
You've seen this flower everywhere so i'm not going into too much depth. This is basically my answer towards Dark-Type staller likes Mandibuzz and my answer to a pokemon that provides Wishes and Status healing. Not much to say here so off the best and last pokemon of the crew.
"RAAAAAWWWWWRRRRR!"
Damnation (Charizard) (F) @ Charizardite X
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
The main king and champion of the whole team, Charizard-X spews awesome. Charizard-X is one of the great Physical Attack with Tough Claws, being able to sweep through whole teams at +2 or even +1. It's typing allows me to suck up Will-O-Wisps aimed at Scizor and it's typing let's make sit in on Rotom-W all day. I've swept through many teams with this set and it is personally one of my favorite sweepers to use.
Conclusion~
This is one of my favorite teams I have used right after The Sand Dunes. I always loved Mega Charizard-X's design and being able to use it in battle to sweep over my opponents is a very awesome feeling. I'd recommend this set to get a general idea as to what you want to do for your Setup Sweeper teams. You must be able to support your sweeper fully and be able to sacrifice to ensure safe switch ins or to throw away Hazards.
