Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Commander replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Joseph "Maybe since we've grown up together, I don't get too many pranks or trouble with them. Even if they did, my Sudowoodo would knock some sense back into them. That's the thing about trainers, it's more about the journey than the actual 'mons. Besides, I'm getting a bit too old to start raising new Pokemon and with my job, I'd never have time to care for them like they need to." Joseph turned to a window noticing a Sandstorm outside. "There he goes again. This is why I never let him out in public areas." Henry The boy turned to notice Raiza running past him. "Hey Raiza, I think my Rotom found where your Litwick went. Something about a crowd and a Chandelure. Does that ring a bell to you?" He wasn't sure the importance of this, but maybe it'd mean more to the girl.- 1255 replies

This. Dobby has the right idea. Just because it's harder for someone to use something doesn't automatically mean you can't use it.
-
Honestly, I don't think it'd really effect Henry's Pokemon all that much. Sure Techie, Gypsy, and Paradox would all be forced to the ground, but they still have ways to move around. Gravity just makes it harder to move, not make them permanently stick to the ground.

When I looked up Sharpedo's moveset, I learned it could learn bounce. I just imagined it flying up into the air and soaring down straight into the opponent like a torpedo. And then I looked back at Glalie's Moveset. It's so beautiful. I mean it can learn Earthquake, Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball and all kinds of fun stuff. I will say Hail and Blizzard is kind of a stable given Ice Body (unless you want to see a Moody Glalie...oh god no!)

If this is true, please let Tiki be a playable character and turn into a Cyber Manakete.

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]

Joseph Wait...aren't ghosts the spirits of dead Pokemon? How does that even work? Don't question it, Joseph. "My, you must get pretty busy at home then. I barely can handle the six I carry with me. When you move all around the region, taking care of a bunch of Pokemon is quite the challenge. Food is pricey and you're always running out pretty quick. I swear that Tyranitar has a black hole for a stomach." Joseph shuttered at the thought of letting his Tyranitar out and about on his own. He had a habit of causing sandstorms wherever he went. Techie The Rotom phased inside of the speakers after hearing noise coming from them. He hadn't messed with one of these for a long time, but if he put this wire here and messed with this control...perfect! Satisfied, the ghost beamed out of the speakers. He then looked down and noticed something tiny in the distance. He made his way closer and recognized the Litwick now with a Chandelure. Seeing this, he turned back quickly searching for the boy who promised him some Pokedex time. Henry The boy slowly grew impatient for the Rotom seemed to be taking his time. He was about to give orders to find Techie when the ghost flew right in front of Henry. "Did you find him?" asked Henry. The Rotom nodded now pointing to the Pokedex in Henry's pocket before fazing into it. The boy opened up the device and saw the words: N teh audiance wiht da Chandelure. "Can you please spell things correctly?" Henry then read: I could, but I leik to spel tingz funny. Wut? U mad bro? "Why do I even bother?" Henry shut the Pokedex leaving the Rotom free to do whatever he wanted on the machine. He looked around trying to figure out where Raiza went to tell her the news.- 1255 replies

Honestly, I can't help it sometimes. The only reason I step is in when someone is like look how broken this move or strategy is and act like they're going to use it. It's kind of ironic they're popping up now when people have been using 'em since chapter one. Why did we ignore it back then but not now? Probably because people weren't trying to exploit them. I probably could go on, but I think I got my point across. Edit: And yes, I know I'm probably responsible for half the disputes that happen on these things. As I said, I can't help it, but I'll be trying to keep out of it from now on. Edit 2: Zeph, if you didn't want Henry to know about that, I can change the post. I kind of just wanted to gain control back on Henry again.

I wouldn't run Destiny Bond, there are way better moves than that to run on the Pedo. I can't really recommend a certain moveset, but if you want a suggestion I'd need to know what you're looking for in Sharpedo before giving suggestions (and yes, Rough Skin is as viable as Speed Boost given how fast Sharpedo already is). Also, Mega Gyarados is a Dark Type if you don't wanna use a shark. Now to explain the Counter thing, I figure to retaliate quickly the Pokemon would absorb the attack (the same amount of damage would be taken) and they'd retaliate with the same amount of energy along with some of their own with an attack similar power level to Mach Punch since they wouldn't have the time to reach their own maximum strength without losing some of that energy gained. Basically is a Pokemon is nailed with a Super effective earthquake, they'd hit back with a 240 power fighting attack. Mirror Coat would function the same way adding 40 power to the previous attack and be psychic. Metal Burst I feel has a bit different effect. Instead of 1.5 attack, I feel it's more of a defensive maneuver. Anime logic says it basically it absorbs the attack and while I think that's a no, no, I like to have something similar. How about the Pokemon is only hit by 75% of the attack damage and the remaining attack is added to something similar to a magnet bomb. Basically if someone nails a Pokemon with a neutral earthquake they'll be hit by an 85 attack power (the opponent was hit by a 75 attack power). Basically these things would be attacks, but the amount of power would depend on the move used against them. That's all I can think of to balance them out with this system (we have combos and no calculated HP now). Making the actual attacks does also throw counters in there unlike with the in-game methods. It's ultimately up to Chim what to do and I wouldn't even question banning them to stop headaches from arising.
-
I'd say 1.25 at the most (Though I think 1.1 times is best). I have to head to work otherwise I'd explain the numbers a bit more.

Alright Freddie you can have your spot back (So now four oldies are back). I was doing Glaceon for a moveset that matched its visual appearance, but since the thing can't learn mist, I tried substituting Frost Breath for it. I'll have to think of something for Glalie though. Shouldn't be too hard considering he pretty much could do everything Glaceon could (except dig and aqua tail). As for moves like counter and metal burst, I think double the damage might be a little over the top. Maybe something like they can swing the same attack power back with a little bit more oomph. That way people can't abuse the "you hit my Pokemon a little over half his health so I basically can one-shot your Pokemon" tactic.
-
I don't think I need to say anything else on the matter. Keep it to the in-game version. And Dobby, seems like there are two different paths to take. If you feel Doux is going to get left out later on, then I'd go for the latter options. Just let it sit for a little bit and pick the one you'd rather do. Balance should be the last thing to work off of anyways. And Zerron, I might actually pick up Avalugg because of Mist the one thing Glaceon can't do. Nah, Frost Breath Glaceon it still is. If only Glalie looked visually more appealing. That thing would instantly be on Henry's team because it's way better than Glaceon. Super Fang makes up for any of its flaws. Tempted to just take him up instead because Glaceon disappoints me.
-
My advice is to not think in terms of competitively, but more in terms of the Pokemon's character. I mean if you just pretty much are going to pick Cofegrigas for balance and has a dull personality and really he'd only be seen in battle, then I'd pick a different Pokemon. I mean dull as in boring to read and write because some dull personalities can be entertaining.
-
I leave for like an hour and then this happens. Generally I only step in when there's powerplaying or just upright bs tactics. I don't question Pokemon logic because that's the way it is. If you stick to the in-game moves, there shouldn't anything that has to be disputed.
-
I really doubt Ferrothorn could handle the equivalence of two thunders in its body. From RL experiences, you'd be lucky if that Pokemon only passed out from trying that (only certain electric types with lightning rod, volt absorb, etc should be able to handle that). Now if you used it as a medium, that's a different story, but seriously don't try and supercharge Ferrothorn. I'd say at least an auto Paralysis because that's what happens to some people irl when hit by electricity.
-
Snow Cloak and you'd have to be an idiot not to run hail on a Glaceon considering the abilities. The reason I picked it is because it best suited the hail reserve on Henry's team (though I did look at Glalie many times before picking her. If Henry wasn't a Coordinator, I'd actually use Glalie instead). Her status moves are Hail and Barrier if you were wondering. Edit: Azery, you can't have a Ferrothorn attack itself and especially hell no to having Lightingrod effects or charge effects. Even irl, the electricity would just move out of the Pokemon and be absorbed by the ground.
-
Pretty much what I designed for her outside the Quick Attack and Aerial Ace even though I did consider those moves with Quick Attack just removed a month ago. Yeah...I know I'm not going to abuse those dodging tactics because being able to avoid a few attacks rather easily is part of an attack, not her defense. Still the overall weakest member of Henry's team imo, but I have nothing better to replace her.
-
Hey Faust, since we're both using Glaceon (I'm not going to change it since it's one of my few Coordinator side Pokemon) what kind of role are you going to put on it? Mine's probably going to play the role of a tank and her primary partner is Blastoise. And Azeria, I think those levels will be fine, but just be weary of movesets because even a mon 6-8 levels below another can still easily sweep that mon with the right moves.
-
If you want to reference me, Techie isn't going to learn Pain Split until year 2. And Dobby, you're being a bit hypocritical considering Jacob's levels would be overall higher than Jame's even with the Lv 19 Sableye. I'd also be breaking this ideal rule, but I stated many times most of my Pokemon won't be gaining that many levels. I think that level is fine as long as either Litwick or Sableye are not close to the cap next chapter. As for the team, here's the current one, but I said quite a few times I'm just going to put the sixth one on as well.
-
Well...I think that's enough posts for me tonight. And Azery, I generally think in terms of attack types instead of an actual Pokemon's typing since types can usually cover types they're weak against rather well.

Joseph "I never really got too into all that battle to make your Pokemon stronger and all that showy stuff. I mostly just traveled a lot in my younger days. As for Orre, it's certainly something. While it's a beautiful region, it's not a good place to raise your kid or at least wasn't. Since we don't have an official league, a lot more crime happens especially in suburban towns such as Pyrite. At least things have greatly improved compared to a decade ago." Joseph didn't like admitting it, but Orre probably was one of the last places you wouldn't to live, especially when Cipher was in control. "Anyways, I'd rather here a bit about where you're from." Techie The Rotom followed the Litwick only to see a few children jump at the sight of the ghost. This gave him a fun idea. He went over to a few kids in the stands giving their hair a bit of a shock. After a few minutes of work, a large group of spectators now had a new afro hairdo. He quickly snapped his head remembering about the Litwick. He looked around, but the ghost seemed to have vanished again. Techie floated up higher to get a better view when he noticed some speakers above. He just stood there gazing at this amazing device.- 1255 replies

Exlink Just as Yuri dashed out of the way, the Fire Tome exploded consuming the mage in the process. The fire then faded away allowing Yuri and Zach to rush over to their ally on the other side should they wish to do it. Before either could move, the bearded man approached them. “Those fire mages sure are crazy. Thanks for your help.” “Hey, these guys might be able to help,” spoke out the purple haired man. “Those hostages…” “We’ll handle the situation ourselves. I don’t want to drag any outsiders into this,” responded the bearded man. “Besides, it’s too dangerous for someone like this lot. There are fire mages everywhere back there.” Zach heard the conversation and made his way right over to Yuri whispering, “Something is off about this. The fire mages seem to be pretty much killing everyone right on the spot. Why would they need hostages? I smell a trap.” Dragonmasterkrim “Wow!” the blue haired responded seeing the flame show nearby. The girl cowered behind the man trying not to think of the man burning up in flames. When the show ended, he turned back to face Nemir. “I really don’t know. Heck, it could be anyone even one of our own. Maybe he’s watching over the hostages in the town square. That seems to be a big focus to those Onishians.” Suddenly he heard footsteps headed towards them. “Looks like we’ve got more company.” The Main Group The Halberdier felt a heavy shock in his arm. He was stunned for a moment, but he quickly snapped back to reality. This wasn’t the first time he was hit by a thunder spell. Still empty handed, he tried reaching toward his lance, but someone else had picked it up. “And to think this is the true might of Zagan’s men. Pathetic.” A man dressed in a black robe and black witch hat pointed the lance at the halberdier mocking him. The halberdier completely froze, not even realizing he was still fighting these trainees. Uninterested in the fight, the mage made his way over to the bridge where Virgil, Heizen, and Elliot were just finishing off the last few enemies. Virgil was the first to notice him. “What the bloody hell are you doing here? I thought you were under oath.” “You should thank your friend right there. Since he invaded our country, the pact is no longer valid. However, I am merely here for a simple errand, not violence. If you know what is best, you’ll let me through and I’ll let you and the others live.” The man spoke showing no emotions or concerns, even though he was talking to an enemy. Heizen saw this opportunity and readied his lance. “Don’t you dare, dumbass,” yelled Virgil. Heizen lowered his weapon, but glared at the mage as he crossed the bridge. Even after the mage had left, the halberdier stood there frozen and completely vulnerable. Even a simple sword slash would finish him off. Daj and Mumplefink “So you wanna fight, eh,” responded the thief to the knight. “Let’s see how you like it when I do this.” The thief pulled out the knife swinging it right at the priestess. The other thief pulled out two daggers aiming them at the knights head.

Azery, I really can't recommend Bronzong to you. You'll have a Ferrothorn already so the only thing Bronzong would bring is stab Psychic which Bronzong isn't that offensive and would only add to your very strong weakness of Ghost and Dark types. Magmortar also doesn't bring much to the plate other than being a great doubles partner for Chandelure and have access to T-bolt. It doesn't really add much outside of that. Now we get to Jolteon. Jolteon is probably the best option because when you look at it, Jame's team is slow as molasses with Dragonite being one of the few with an okay speed. Jolteon would be a decent addition to help counter this problem and even the odds. He, Electrike, and Raichu play similar roles, but all of them have a few key moves to separate one from the other.

I could say the same thing about Henry's Mother, but if given the chance, I'll bring her around for a chapter. Also, I want to say I'm dropping Lilligant. I actually looked back on an old teammate I was going to pick, and I think I'll be picking that one up instead (or at least try to). I haven't mentioned this one in a very, very long time so I'll be surprised if anyone even remembers it.

That ain't necessarily a bad thing. I only just reintroduced Joseph after like 3-4 months of him disappearing. Meanwhile, Luna is terrorizing a different RP. We'll see Citrine again pretty quick (I might slip up and just call her Luna once in a while). Edit: And there's that same old Danielle.
