Lately, it seems like we've been getting a spur of new members, and they try their best to make Welcome Threads, but they're at a loss of what exactly to put into it! Fear not; you're local neighborhood Cloud is here to remedy the ailment.
First of all, we would encourage you to make your own thread for an introduction. Hi-jacking someone else's thread to say 'hey, I'm new here too' is pretty much a no-no, as it's kind of disrespectful, you know? I wouldn't want someone to interrupt my introductory speech at a ceremony to give their own without even letting me finish, and I'm sure you wouldn't like it, either, yeah?
When posting your introduction thread, always remember to...
- give yourself a nice, in-your-face title! By title, I mean the one thing that we see first in the index of the forums; the name of your thread! This will give us a very quick insight as to how you think, as well as provoke us to click on your thread so we can read all about you. If your thread title is boring, with things such as 'Hi' it will tell us that you either weren't giving thought to the initial title and wanted to focus on content, which is good, but we still want to see that you're happy that you're with us! Of course, we'll look at your thread anyway, but an inviting title makes us jump before clicking it!
- focus heavily on the content of your thread! What you say in that first post lets us see straight through and into your mind, letting us know exactly who you are. Give us something right away so we want to keep reading, so we want to know more! Keep us on our toes so you can get some nice friends. Share personal info (to a certain extent), tell us your hobbies, tell us your life goals, and more!
- not be shy! Even if you're a timid person in real life and you either can't help doing it online or want to do it so people know you are rather shy, try to avoid it so we can tell what you're trying to say, how you're saying it and how we should respond to it! You can also ask as many questions as you want in this thread, as we as a community will be more than willing to answer any inquiries you have - we're just that welcoming.
- be positive! Don't be a pessimist in your welcome post, because if you are it seems like you're only giving it half your effort and here at Reborn, we want everyone to be happy and welcomed into the community, but that means giving it your all to make it seem like you want to be apart of the community! Give us a big smile and we'll give you an even bigger one.
Above all, just have fun with your opening thread and be yourself and we'll welcome you with open arms.
