  1. I've already planned Jory's next capture. I just hope no one takes it out from under me.
  2. "And on that day, wherever you stand shall become your tomb," Dru retorted quickly. "But until then, I'm content to listen to your wisecracks. Believe it or not, you've proven more amicable company than some of the drearier sorts." With that, Dru took another long gulp of ale. After so long on the road, anything remotely resembling cooked food was liable to be inhaled by the insatiable half-Orc.
  3. Jory entered the medical ward in a hurry, breezing by Lionel as he approached a person who seemed to be in charge. "My GAO is badly injured. I need help, now!" The medic nodded and took Sampson's capsule when Jory offered it to him. "Don't worry, cadet. We'll have him in fighting form in no time. For now, go join your squad. We'll have a runner bring him out to you when he's ready," the medic assured him. Jory nodded his thanks as the medic took off further into the bay, gathering a couple of nurses and machines on wheels as he went. Jory then turned around and, noticing Lionel, smiled at the happy reunion. "I'm glad Shadow ended up okay. He was pretty banged up last I saw him."
  4. I feel similarly about Dru. When I made him, I never realized just how much I tend to sit to the side of conversations.
  5. Roland watched in anticipation as Nash distracted the beast, the warrior's years of experience showing as he expertly dodged the larger creature's blows. I should stop admiring his fighting and finish this, Roland realized as Nash gave him the signal to begin his attack. The ranger stood up and took a few steps back, sheathing his shorter knife, as his saxe had done most of the work last time anyway. He then leapt forward, his saxe held high above his head in a hammer blow as he sailed through the air toward the creature, his cloak billowing after him. With a mighty roar, the ranger reached his target and plunged the saxe once more into the back of the creature's neck just where it met the head, feeling the weapon sink deep into his enemy.
  6. Dru chuckled at Sigurd's joke. If the Templar was one thing, it was extroverted. The sorcerer looked down toward the Simulacrum. "I know you can here me in there, Boney. Just know that if you try anything ill-advised, I'll bury that Simulacrum of yours so deep in the earth that it will be ages before even a wyrm will find it."
  7. Roland nodded wordlessly to Nash, taking the veteran's strategy and putting it into effect. He began to run, his breathing labored after the long and hard fight. He began to move in a wide circle around the beast, being careful not to attract too much attention as he moved toward the fallen pillar once more. He began to climb, making slower progress than before up the face of the structure. Eventually he reached the top and signaled to Nash that he was in position, waiting for the warrior to get the beast nearer to his vantage point.
  8. Dru raised an eyebrow at the Templar. However bold and skilled in battle the man might have been, he wasn't the best of liars. Still, the half-Orc didn't think it was a good idea to push Sigurd too hard. The man was entirely too stubborn to be forced into telling someone his feelings. Sigurd would open up when he wanted to and not a moment sooner. Realizing this, Dru simply took a tankard of ale and smiled at the knight. He took a long swig as Sigurd asked his question. The sorcerer was forced to ponder it for a moment, then put his ale down. "Sigurd, I too would have kept the tome. However, I would not keep it on my person. Evil artifacts like that... They have a way of corrupting the soul. Of turning the very things you love and cherish against you and, in the cruelest manner possible, force you to decide between your ultimate goal and whatever it is you hold dear. Be careful, my friend. That book is not to be trifled with. I'm not sure what manner of approach this 'Crimson King' will take, but do not let his silver tongue fool you. He is a force of darkness that threatens to overthrow the world. No one man's willpower can overcome him, no matter how strong that man's will may be," the sorcerer said pointedly before picking up his tankard and taking another long swig.
  9. Now that I have an opportunity to take advantage of being the quiet observer, this will be better. I've also found myself really enjoying writing Dru's part because he's a form of self-insert that I call a partial insert.
  10. Dru's face showed little reaction to the Templar's aggressive tone. It didn't surprise the half-Orc at all that the man was becoming defensive. After all, he hadn't received much of anything save for the others' criticisms since the group had left Passthrough. The sorcerer sighed, recalling all the negative attention he had received as a child and young adult. And it was all because of a decision he hadn't even made for himself. He is in the same situation I was in. He feels alone. He feels as though we have turned our backs to him. Dru smiled lightly at the knight, raising his hands in a mock defensive gesture. "Easy, friend. I'm not here to criticize you. Your actions are your own, no matter how foolhardy some may believe them to be. You had a difficult decision to make. All the rest of us can do now is hope it was the right one," he said, studying the Templar's expression. He looked spooked, almost as though he had seen a ghost. The sorcerer gestured to the book. "I'm no expert on magical tomes. That type of magic is best left to wizards and other bookish sorts. But I do know when a man could use a drink, and you, my friend, look like you could use several. What's on your mind?"
  11. Dru watched as first Akuma, then Xavier walked through the door and out onto the street. Tension. I can feel it in his footsteps. He's controlling his rage. The half-Orc then turned to watch Sigurd sit grumpily on his own. The sorcerer watched as the knight's mood began to deteriorate rapidly. We've been on this journey for such a short time, and yet we are already divided. How can we hope to defeat the Gentleman with such a fractured group? he thought, despairing at the prospect of a world overrun by darkness. Though I don't approve of his methods, he has certainly been an asset on this journey. Dru pondered for another moment, then made a decision. He went over to Sigurd's booth and sat across from the Templar, not saying anything just yet.
  12. Dru raised his eyebrows at the mention of the ogre playing the harp, but said nothing of it. After all, not many people expected to see a half-Orc sorcerer. He then stepped forward and lowered his hood. "I, for one, would be delighted to hear our friend here play his instrument. It might make this cold city feel just a little bit warmer."
  13. Roland finally reached the beast. He immediately leapt forward, swinging both long knives down at the beast's wrist in an attempt to save Nash.
  14. Jory looked down at the offered medical supplies and shook his head, running his hand through his hair nervously. "That's not gonna be enough, Nathan... He's hurt real bad. A bunch of giant bees came out of the woods and swarmed us. They had stingers and arms like spears, Nathan. It was like nothing I've ever seen before, not even in training..." he said, trailing off at the end. "I'm going to head toward the medical bay. Tell the officers that's where I went." With that resolute statement, Jory began walking toward the medical bay, determined to see Sampson through his injuries.
  15. Yeah, I don't think bandages are gonna cut it... Sampson got stabbed multiple times by Beedrills...
  16. Jory stood up as Nathan approached the other cadets. He'd begun to look to the pilot as a role model. After all, he had been in the military far longer than anyone else in his squad. Well, maybe except for Erick. He looked up at the man, a sullen frown still stained on his face. "Sampson got hurt badly... I just want to get him to the medical ward. Do you think that'd be okay with Surge and the General?" he asked quickly, his concern growing by the moment.
  17. Jory smiled at Lars's apparent confidence. "Hey buddy, that's awesome! I'm glad you found someone good!" Then, his expression fell. "I'd offer you a battle, but my team's a little wiped. We... uh... ran into a little trouble in the forest.. Sampson's pretty hurt, but as long as I can get his capsule to the medical wing he should be fine." The cadet sat down, the impact of Sampson's injury setting in. "I just hope he's okay. He... He jumped in front of Eve..." he said quietly, his voice trembling.
  18. Which of the island Nations in Graterras would you most like to visit in-game? *The Shadowed Isles is where you are now. (The ones you haven't been to are Arbouretium, Solarium, The Shattered Hills, Shifting Sands, The Crystal Archipelago, The Land of Death, Aurora, and Pandora.) I think I'd like to see the Shattered Hills. Having Dru go "home" and be known by people would be great exposition for him, especially given his quiet demeanor. Which Nation would you like to most visit yourself if you were in the world of Graterras? Definitely the Crystal Archipelago. It just sounds dope. Has you favourite NPC changed, if so who is it now?(still name them and describe why in a little blurb even if it didn't change, because your reason may have changed.) My favorite NPC has a few more holes in him than I would like (Brass). Has your least favourite NPC changed, if so who is it now? My least favorite NPC is, unfortunately, Odin. While he dotes on Helze, he tends to pass over any member of the party who isn't actively trying to get everyone else killed (*cough*Sigurd*cough*). That being said, there aren't any NPCs who I actively dislike. My favorite did the dying thing though (RIP Steele) What do you think the significance is of the name of Chapter 3? I'd be willing to bet money that it has something to do with the revelation of some form of darkness. Which PC do you think your PC gets along with best? Why do you think this is? My PC doesn't get to interact with the others much. To be loyal to his character he has to be open to conversation, but can't really start any himself. Which PC does your character get along with the least? Why do you think this is? (keep it civil folks.) Undoubtedly Sigurd. Dru (not me- I love how headstrong Sigurd is) doesn't think too highly of people who act before thinking. It's just a part of his more intellectual nature. Chapter 3 is going to be more of a Character development sort of Chapter, do you like these pauses in the action? Usually during these I end up sitting on the sidelines for lack of something engaging other than becoming my own mini-DM for a bit. So no, not really. My characters' actions are much louder than their verbal expression and it can be hard to create meaningful action from nothing. Who or what do you think Bjorn's friend in Nevermore could be? The Breadfish. Is there anything you think I can improve upon? Last chapter I felt pretty ignored during the battle. I understand that people needed to hold the walls, but Brass was the only character Dru had any form of meaningful interaction with and Dru, as far as I can tell, never had any idea that the amulet he gave Brass had any significance further than that of a gift to a friend. I posted twice in the entire thing and got ignored when I tried to be involved.
  19. Dru hated cities. It wasn't so much an aversion to the place as the feel of it. This particular city was offensive in every way to the sorcerer's attunement with the Earth. If the Death Knight's presence at Passthrough hadn't been enough to set Dru's stomach turning, this hive of shivering masses certainly did the trick. Its cold, harsh structures intruded into the Earth like spears thrown into a carcass long dead. The sorcerer sighed and shook his head, remembering with nostalgia the days before giant men in glowing armor started riding through towns and cutting unlucky sorcerers in half. He then turned to the others. "Let's get to wherever it is we're going. I'm hungry."
  20. Jory smiled wearily as he approached the gates of Fort Bexley. He had had a long day and had captured a pretty strong GAO, too. If only I'd gotten in on that bet, he pondered wistfully. I think Oliver could take any GAO except for Sampson and come out on top. The cadet turned to Kenny, who had accompanied him back to the fort after the battle with the swarm of bees. "Hey, Kenny, I never thanked you for saving my sorry ass back there. I owe you one. If you ever need anything, just let me know." He turned back toward the gate. "I didn't expect Logan to beat us back. I guess Sleepy must have teleported him here," he said to no one in particular. A couple of minutes later, he arrived at the gate. "Lars, are you the lucky winner, or is my new friend going to show all of you gamblers up?"
  21. Sonny simply scratched his head at Jake's strange behavior. Well, I guess I can't say that's out of the ordinary. At least for him, the scout thought, still troubled by the lack of any clear instruction.
  22. The majority of Zangvile is Weavile colored, as in that weird navy bluish purplish color. Its claws, however, are still white. why not try switching the claws to that bluish color and the body to white in order to retain the Normal-type color scheme (Most normal types are either white or earthy tones as opposed to stark black or blue)? EDIT: To clarify, I love what you've already done and would be perfectly happy using that design. I was just curious what the alternative might look like.
