  1. Oh my Arceus... Was I truly able to create 40 characters for fanmade game, with, like, only 4 existing beforehand, which are modified OCs of my real-life friends?

I know you couldn't care less... but I had to "brag" about it somewhere, you know...  The more I think about it, the more I hope that the dream will come true, and the more I pursue in creation.

Fortunately, I'm not alone - there are a few of us out there: some do more, some do less, but all do something. The day the first chapters are released, may be the happiest day of my life.

But I know from experience that rushing is a bad way of creating; masterpieces take even years to create (Reborn took a whole decade to fully complete, and it's not perfect yet because of various cats in the game). Still, no need to worry as the world isn't about to end soon, is it?  ...well, as someone who lives in Poland has all the reason to be afraid for the life, but my friends taught me not to be pessimistic and ultra-realistic/paranoid 24/7/365

So, a lesson for me, and you - be happy, and try to think that the next day will be at least as good as the previous one. Which isn't gonna happen, but maybe... maybe...

  2. Oh shit. I've forgotten about your B-Day! How could I-...?!

Well, we haven't known each other for a long time, yet I believe that we might share a few commons with each other. Also, I am constantly blown away by your creativity, and ability to create (many things are incredibly broken beyond belief, though, but concepts are without a flaw).

People like you, and you as well, are the reason why I haven't decided to give up on everything and end it permanently... I am thankful that you, and others, exist, because you're making me believe there's a chance for humanity...

I'm being late, yes, for almost 2 weeks, but... All the best for you, Evi ;-)

    1. OmegaStellarSolare

      OmegaStellarSolare

I’m very sorry, too. And happy birthday, Evi Crystal. Well, I’ve been a terrible friend to you, have I?

  3. Oh, I should add one thing.

I love the overall design modernization; both in locations, and in characters. In the latter, I've discovered things that I had no idea previously-, like... Radomus was wearing a mask in his Gym Battle? I have always thought that it was just a shadow; like in the anime sometimes you see someone's face being covered in darkness, often by the hair. But now, when I know... it does look cool.

Most of the time, the VS Sprites changed minimally - they are simply more detailed. But there were more driastic changes. I haven't seen all of them, so~...

Well, the most impressive change was for Aster and Eclipse - they actually now are different and unique from mere Grunts. Also Charlotte; now a super-cutie (she might burn me for that, but that's okay - I'm used to taking a whoopin'), Samson (hot, no homo), ZEL/Zero (those "almost-snake" pupils... wow), Bennett (from nerd to friendly, edgy anime antagonist) - and maybe more, but I don't know.

But... If I may be honest, there is one VS Sprite change that I don't like. This is just a opinion... But I've gotta say it because oh my Arceus...

And that is Parson Elias' VS Sprite.

His "Agent" sprite us completely all right, but the one used in the Citadel...

...He looks like a desperate old despot on crack... which might be the most accurate description of him, perhaps...

But that face will be haunting in my dreams for a long time...

Overall, designs were miles better that in V18. Props to you, devs

  4. Okay, I don't know why I was waiting for this... But I wanted to share with you my experience with V19 Boss Fights.

Pay in mind... That there WILL BE spoilers. So don't click if you haven't finished main story, kay~?

I was using rotating teams for this:

    Spoiler
    • Trick Room team for PULSE Clawitzer and Reborn League
    • Sandstorm team for others
    Spoiler

    PULSE Clawitzer

    Spoiler

    Contrary...

Why... this extremely fast Pokemon... with set full of self-weakening moves... have FUCKING CONTRARY?!

If you don't take that thing out fast, it will decimate any Pokemon you bring in a matter of seconds. Here, I'll show you it's "estimated" stats (based purely on PULSE Dex and my eyesight):

    HP: 255

    Attack: 5

    Defense: 50

    Sp. Attack: 135

    Sp. Defense: 60

    Speed: 255

    Estimated BST: 760

Add to that Water-Dragon typing, and moves like Fleur Cannon, Draco Meteor and Origin Pulse... And that "Chutulu Cannon" will sweep you instantly. Fortunately, it's bulk is good but very limited, and also... VERY vulnerable to Trick Room. Since it has no priority moves, you can Toxic-stall it, or boost Special Defense with Specially bulky Pokemon not weak to any Clawitzer's attacks (like Blissey or Sylveon) to the point that boosts won't do anything... or simply attack and annihilate, that can work too. Tyranitar and Mega Camerupt have done their job done.

    PULSE Mr. Mime

    Spoiler

Em, Ame...? When I've "proposed" that Sigmund should be paired with Mr. Mime, I meant that Doctor should be the one controlling PULSE... AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!

While the concept and execution are unexpected and well-done, that sprite of dead Sigmund being controlled like a marionette... ay.

Unlike Clawitzer, Mr. Mime is more defensively built (as I predicted), like... really defensively...

    HP: 255

    Attack: 5

    Defense: 190

    Sp. Attack: 5

    Sp. Defense: 190

    Speed: 255

    Estimated BST: 900

So... It doesn't seem to be that dangerous, right?

Actually, no - it's a Dark/Ghost... with Wonder Guard... and the only move it knows is... Entrainment.

Also, it's a Double Battle, with PULSE as one side, and Connal's Pokemon on the other.

Unfortunately... I've had no Pokemon with Fairy attacks, nor Toxic... So it came down to whittling it down with Sandstorm and Will'o'Wisp...

    I hate that Pokemon.

    I hate that battle.

    "Labradorra Tournament"

    Spoiler

Except for wonderful showcase of lore and untypical humor, it hosted quite a few intense battles. Especially the first one - Seijaya sisters didn't go down without a fight.

My Sandstorm team could hurt Cal a bit, but I bet he wasn't complaining... much. Especially when Earthquake'ing everything with Excadrill (he should thank Terra it was Inverse Battle)... He wasn't lucky in the 2nd round tho...

Florinia was more... persistent. With her motive being sand and all, I didn't have that much of an advantage in strategy.

    Also that accused Glitch Field!

I had to bullshit through with Scizor and Aegislash; and have them set up which sometimes could cost me the entire match.

Then after everything... Battle against Terra with absolutely no fonts. Now, the battle was very unique, I'll give you that, devs.

That doesn't change the fact I STILL HATE Glitch Field, and was forced to heal quite a few times. Also Sandstorm benefited her too, so I've made the match more difficult for myself on my own wish

Still, it wasn't ridiculously hard tho.

    Dragon Leader Saphira

    Spoiler

    tyranitar.

    Victory Road

    Spoiler
    Spoiler

    Only the fights here

    Blake

    Spoiler

To be honest, him batting in Singles instead of Doubles made him easier to defeat. I get they wanted him to battle also in Singles as the previous confrontations with him were in Doubles, but... they could make him "second Angie", but wasted the opportunity.

He wasn't particularly difficult (challenging, yes), but... that battle was the hardest of the major ones in the Victory Road

    Sirius

    Spoiler

The easiest one, for me. Doubles, and most of his Pokemon is quite frail. Plus... except Minior, all of them were weak to Ground! Excadrill and Tyranitar truly have their field trip lol.

Also, the aftermath was truly~ satisfying.

    Fern

    Spoiler

At this rate, dude's to stop.

He ain't gonna never beat me. Not in the past, not in the present, not in the future. This one wasn't different - all of his Pokemon were 1-2HKO'd.

Honestly... I was feeling pretty bad about him; Fern's trying to bring up whatever has remained from his coincidence, after his life; events - nothing at all - didn't go as planned.

True, he did deserve that with being an overconfident asshole... but, still, having (almost) nothing to lose... He should be joyed Lin didn't decide to finish him as being "useless"

    Elite Four

    Spoiler

Just the fact that Reborn Elite Four have two specialities each, had already my interest.

    Heather (Flying/Poison)

    Spoiler

    For me, the easiest battle.

Because her team is very fast on average, and likes to set up Tailwind, that makes her easy prey to Trick Room sweepers; Field boosting the power of Rock-type attacks, prominent on my Pokemon, assisted me there too.

But... honestly, the fact that she specializes in two types that their parents (Elena and Corey) were specializing, that's some really deep dedication...

Elena was also specializing in Ghost types but shhhhh~

    Laura/Bennett (Grass/Bug)

    Spoiler

Everyone was predicting an 12vs6 Battle... and we got simply 6vs6. Which actually makes sense; this is Elite Four, not Elite Five.

The battle was trivial - Tyranitar replaces rain with sand, Dusclops sets up Trick Room, and Mega Camerupt turns their bugs and plants to ashes; all of their Pokemon are weak to fire, except Volcarona who can't take Rock-type attacks on itself.

    Elias (Normal/Dragon)

    Spoiler

Didn't except him to use Dragon types, but now... I think it makes sense - all of Creation Trio (Arceus' "children") are part Dragon.

Off all E4, he was the most tricky and challenging to defeat. Because he didn't have just fast Pokemon, but also slower but bulkier ones, so Trick Room wasn't as helpful (I don't know how to lower IVs (if that's even possible), so I couldn't have my Pokemon to have minimum possible Speed).

The Field benefitted him and his team very much, but to me it actually was a bit of an detriment, as Tyranitar couldn't resist Normal attacks, and Dusclops was weak to them instead of being immune.

That Ditto transforming into my Mega Camerupt also had my heart jump a little... Thanks Arceus Trick Room was still set-up (I bet Ditto had Choice Scarf or something like that)

The fact that his team had a variety of strategies, not just "Fast Sweeper", really shows his experience, being the oldest major character in Pokemon Reborn (which lives during the plot)

    Fantasia (Psychic/Fairy)

    Spoiler

First of all... Do you mean that this universe... isn't the "original" one? A copy or alternative?!

And here I thought that Reborn was rather "simple" game in terms of time-space continuum. Which... in comparison to Rejuvenation still is. And... thanks for that, Anna.

Speaking of the battle, well... Her team was bulkier than I expected... and stronger - they all hit like a truck. Fortunately I've eliminated Nostra quickly - otherwise her Doom Desires would doom me in no time. Also nice to know that they've used Fast Sweeper Magical Seed Starmie; the very same I've described in my custom team for Ame.

Was I the inspiration... or just that idea was created independently?

    ...

    Wait.......

    Radomus... and Nostra

    Nostra... and Radomus

    Nostra Radomus

    Nostradamus-...

    ...

this is some Ace Attorney level of puns

    Lin (Dragon?)

    Spoiler

    1st Battle

    Spoiler

So not only has she stolen others' Pokemon, but also Battle Themes? Typical Lin...

And... "Meteor Champion"? What gives you the right to be one? Was your battle with Amelia for the Championship? I highly doubt it! Just defeating Grand Champion of the region doesn't make you one! It needs to be an OFFICIAL, ACKNOWLEDGED BY GOVERNMENTAL AND LEAGUE OFFICIALS MATCH!!!

    cleans throat

Anyways, I didn't find surprising that (almost) all of his Pokemon were stolen from her victims: Ame's Ninetales, Radomus' Gardevoir, Ciel's Togekiss (or Samson's Conkeldurr), Solaris' Garchomp and Ace's Delphox.

More suprising for me was the fact that... there was no Field during battle, and lack of Hydreigon or Arc-PULSE. I did suspect that Arceus would be in a completely separate battle, but at least Hydreigon should be there.

Soon I realized that there will be no just Arceus... but ENTIRE Full Battle. Inside her "New World"

As of the battle, it was easier than expected - despite her entire team having PULSE2, all of them failed after just 2 hits - with main role taking Tyranitar and Camerupt. Not even PULSE Abra (frail like glass) could save her.

Yet I was wondering how Lin would "transport" me after her losing to me.

...i was stupid not to realize PULSE Abra's true purpose...

    2nd Battle

    Spoiler

Remember when I've said in one of the previous posts that I had the plan to turn Speed drop detriment into benefit?

Exactly. That's where my Trick Room team really had the chance to shine.

Fortunately my team was healed before, otherwise I'd be screwed.

Most of her team, except bulky Clefable and Arceus (obviously) was either Flying-type or levitating. That was her mistake, as that put her into huge disadvantage against Trick Room. But that team was tougher to take out, because of the Field boosting her Pokemon, Mismagius leading against Dusclops (Eviolite saved me), and that fucking Celesteela which made me yell in the middle of the black night. The number of times I lost to it, Kartana and Landorus in Singles made me hate them very much... ESPECIALLY SINCE, LIKE, 90% OF THE PLAYERS HAD THEM!

Also... Somehow I can't find the stats for Arc-PULSE in my Pulse Dex, so it's hard to estimate potential BST of it. I guess Arc-PULSE is just like regular Arceus; all stats are the same, but higher (I bet those are in the 160-180 range, making BST 960-1080).

And its' sprite and type-changing transitions are sick!

Battle, however, didn't end up as difficult as expected - yes, it was perhaps the hardest of the Pokemon League... which rather negatively speaks about Reborn Elite Four.

But I may say that being accustomed to PULSE2 everywhere or bullshit EVs/IVs and multiple Megas from Hardcore Reborn mode.

    Final thoughts

    Spoiler

Overall, the final challenge of main plot was... disappointing.

...in terms of difficulty - design-wise and lore-wise it was very, very good, imo.

I hope the official V19 release will boost the difficulty of this pseudo-gauntlet (and make it less vulnerable to Trick Room teams)

Ah, also if you know the themes for E4 Battles and Final Lin Battle, please let me know.

You’re judging way too early. Because it’s not over yet. There’s many strong enemies in postgame.

    2. Oscarus

I meant the main game. Not the post game.

To be honest, I couldn't resist and I checked what awaits me in the postgame

      Spoiler

      And somehow... I feel fear

    3. OmegaStellarSolare

      OmegaStellarSolare

Don’t be scared. Even if the challenge awaits you, regardless of your actions.

  5. Okay, I now see my problem with creating characters' designs - they're as simple as those of NES games.

And by that I mean colors - like, except biological structures like hair, eyes, skin, etc., so basically outfit... Their clothings are simple-colored; with one palette. Usually different shades of one/two colors, but sometimes it's even worse; being almost completely monotone.

The designs themselves aren't bad, I think (and hope), but I can't force myself into more... crazy color pallettes. My friend, Nike, knows how to do it and make unique designs with many colors and decorations so it all matches. But me? 3 colors and their shades at a absolute maximum. In some cases, that's a good thing, but it some they look... boring. And also I have a problem with creating a super design that doesn't scream their type speciality. Or I'm being paranoid.

    ...

    ...

...i can see why everyone thinks of me as lamenting...i cannot shut my mouth and stop complaining about myself...

    1. Evi Crystal

      Evi Crystal

Don't be too harsh on your yourself, Oscar 🙂

Just take your time with your character designs and try to experienment with the (basic) colours. Maybe a different clothing style for a challenge?🖍🖌

    2. Oscarus

      Oscarus

The clothes aren't a problem - I think basic designs are good.

But the coloring is sometimes dull; if it isn't a uniform of sorts, it should have some variety.

Maybe I'm gonna show you what's the problem.

  6. Okay...

How in the world have I won 3 days (2 consecutively) doing... the things I usually do?

I'm here for just an almost 3 months; with the first created content/post was made around 2 months ago... And somehow I have 3 days won?!

I mean... I'm not complaining, but after seeing that, and the veterans who are regulars, have - like - only 4 or 5 days won, I feel a little bad for them, honestly.

Maybe that's just dumb luck, maybe I'm better than I think, I cannot find the answer.

    1. Aphelli

      Aphelli

I’ll be honest: a large part of me wants to answer some cliché comment about “back in my days…” or “some of us have lives…”.

Both would be blatant lies, on my part at least. I’ve (out of procrastination curiosity after seeing your update) glanced at the leaderboard.

As far as I can tell, there aren’t that many ways to get enough reputation points in a day (like, a scarcity reputation economy?) – also, that the bar is high to get a like. I feel that it’s most about standing out in a good way to sufficiently many people.

Yet many people mostly lurk, only show up on Discord, or focus on subthreads that get few reactions (team advice, trades, bug fixing?).

I see five ways to manage it: niche, charm, numbers, luck and cooperation.

“Niche” refers to highly appreciated content that only you (not you, Oscarus, you, a generic forum member) and a few people can deliver: basically the dev blogs, other official announcements, some art threads, perhaps some popular playthroughs?

By “Charm”, I mean the ability to stand out (somewhat) outside of a niche. If you write a striking (memetic? insightful? merely funny? unexpected? whatever goes!) comment in the E19 hype thread, for instance, and then get a significant reward. Creating your own niche should also count, too.

“Numbers” is when you get a like per post, but you can make many such posts in a day.

“Luck” is when… well, you’re getting more likes than you usually do, and nobody else is occupying the field.

“Cooperation” is when you agree with other people to boost one another. I don’t know if there’s a rule about it or if no one cares enough to abuse it. But I expect there are milder forms of cooperation. After all, you need an audience if you build a niche.

So, niches are few, there are too many people for luck to count much, cooperation is small scale only (and sort of “cheating”), and both charm and numbers require a measure of innate talent and dedication.

If the fun isn’t in the reward, why focus on that?

    2. Oscarus

      Oscarus

And I thought I was the one to give expanded answers to simple questions.

Doesn't mean I disagree. I do agree. It is fun - it gives some boost to morale.

      But still... It's rather unbelievable.

  7. Okay... I don't know if it's because I hit the ice rink with my head hard enough, or someone was adding something to my water...

But I got such idea that-... well, another big project demanding big research.

Why can't I be simple, I often ask myself.

Well, if I was, I would be as boring as never-changing, predictable TV show airing for 40 years straight which exists purely for nostalgic reasons.

Hmph. You can at the very least try to guess what it might be.

  8. One question I have, to which I have absolutely no logical nor satisfactory answer, and I wish to know if it even exists.

To warn you, this is about the latest episode of Pokémon Journeys

    Spoiler

I've seen SO MANY comments where others were whining and crying about Ash's Lucario being defeated and that now Ash won't defeat Leon for sure... All their "opinions" and "analyses" are more pathetic than political campaigns and public discussions in Poland. And trust me, I know what I say.

Does the entire Pokémon fandom, like, share a single living braincell, or are they actually that stupid? Everyone that pays just a little bit of focus on plot and anime rules knows that Ash's ace was, and still is, Pikachu - even in situations with him having objectively stronger Pokémon, namely Charizard and Greninja. And he's currently Ash's strongest in PCS; defeating Steven's Mega Metagross even without Mega, and almost singlehandedly putting down Cynthia's Gastrodon and Spiritomb, and he could take out at least one or two more Pokémon was it not for Destiny Bond.

And even if Lucario WAS the ace... does no one know the one unwritten, fundamental rule existing in, like, almost every sport event? That nothing is certain until the very end? As someone who was watching Inazuma Eleven from years to come, even before knowing what "anime" is, that rule has been engraved in my mind and soul; telling me every time that as long as there's even the slightest of slivers of chance, the tiniest amounts of time left, you should try to pursue winning, no matter the circumstances.

I wish to know what the more, ekhm... "human" part of the fandom has to say about the incident. I say that Ash still has a chance - 4 Pokémon left standing against Leon's 3, and Pikachu is completely healthy (I know, he has taken Libero-boosted Scorched Sands, but c'mon, it was not only at the very beginning of the battle and Pikachu is extremely tanky).

So, If you have an opinion and wanna share it, do it.

And, from the bottom of my heart, to all non-believers, a very sincere S.T.F.U!

  9. Question - where on this forum can I talk freely about competitive Pokemon (outside of Reborn topic)? Because I'm afraid I won't reach much writing here about my "team-creating problems"...

  10. Question: Have you tried writing fanfic (or at least sets of some random short stories) from the "Protagonists can talk" bits? Cuz they seem quite a intriguing idea to base.

    1. OmegaStellarSolare

      OmegaStellarSolare

It’s difficult to do so long since I don’t have much freetime.

  11. Reasons for those characters to become our rivals:

Victoria: "I have to hone my skills in order to protect those I care the most; be that fellow students of Apophyll or friends outside of it. MC is not only a dear friend of mine, helping whether I was in trouble, but also with a honest heart, they assist everyone who need help, be that ally or foe. They truly impress me, and I'm certain they'll help me reach new levels..."

Cain: "I still can't find my place in the world. Unable to face the difficulties, I've been running away from problems and duties, covering my fears with jokes, songs and light-headed attitude. But MC... MC know their goals; they know what they want to do and where to go. And they're relatable, friendly, understanding and quite~ cute. I hope they'll help me in finding out where I belong..."

  12. Remember how GameFreak presented Leon as one of the greatest Trainers of all time?

Anime might've gone a bit too far with that, wouldn't ya agree?

    1. Show previous comments  1 more
    2. Oscarus

      Oscarus

      Yeah... I get the reasoning...

But wasn't that supposed to be the tournament full of strongest Trainers in the world?

I get Leon is #1, I fully do...

      Spoiler

But to squash Elite Four/Champion-level Mega Evolution specialist, and then the Grand Champion, without even going all out; without Even trying...? That's bullshit. And that comes from a guy who has seen dozens of extra OP Champion+ level characters in fanmade Pokemon games.

At that rate, Ash ain't gonna have the slightest of chances. He's on the same level as the others; heck, he even fought Alain and Diantha and was close to defeating both of them - so it's safe to assume he's very close in overall strength to them.

Without plot armor or other bullshit, Leon's Charizard will have Ash's Pokemon turn into Ash.

I know that I'm "infamous" for having my OCs be incredibly OP in what they do, but... at least they have some other negative traits - mainly mental - that balance things out.

But Leon in the anime... The only, ONLY, not-positive trait he possesses is panting with directions. He might be even more broken than Tobias back in the Sinnoh saga; yet Tobias was justified as he was having Legendary Pokemon at his disposal, and was facing Trainers which the strongest of them were on a level of Gym Leaders. Plus, he even couldn't defeat Cynthia.

Well... Let's see at least if Ash vs Cynthia will live up to its' name and rank of a "dream match"

    3. Oscarus

      Oscarus

Actually, Sol, I did notice something pelicular about Leon's style.

In (almost) all of his matches which aren't 1vs1 or other battles where Leon can use more than one Pokemon, there's a ongoing scheme: Leon's lead Pokemon faints first, then he basically dominates the rest of his team - very often with one, single Pokemon; but he may occasionally use more.

      Spoiler

Which makes sense; Dragapult is defeated by (I assume) Hawlucha, then Rillaboom KO's them and all but one of Diantha's Pokemon.

That strategy reminds me of Masquerade from the first season of Bakugan; mainly after heroes defeated the alliance of World's Greatests (highest ranked Bakugan fighters in the world - #10 and from #5 to #2; Masquerade was #1).

He let the opponent easily defeat his first Bakugan, then defeat all three of opponent in rapid succession (usually using his 'ace', Hydranoid).

The difference? We know both the reasons and source of Masquerade's might, but Leon... we don't have any backstory of his,  other than he was growing up in Postwick, he was rivaling with Raihan and Sonia, he's a battling prodigy (just because), his overall knowledge outside of battles is limited (according to Opal) and was the youngest Grand Champion of Galar and one of the youngest in the world, becoming one at the age of 10...   But why and how did he become such great Trainer? What motivations, other than "making Galar great again", does he have? The facts are so limited, no wonder fans are furious over his domination in the PCS - he's like Tobias, but without Legendaries.

While at first, while I was presenting my Pokemon OC to the masses, there were some critiques of him being way too strong (in fact, he's in lore even stronger than Leon, defeating him one time in 1vs1 match), but at least he has both backstory and motivations to be strong, plus his talent is justified by his lineage. Leon doesn't have any of those - he's just a overly competent Trainer.

Which usually isn't too bad... But in this case, and THESE results, they sure are.

      There’s only one answer :

      Spoiler

Leon trained his team not only physically, but competitively.

  13. S-seriously... will Paldea have ANY new Pokémon which I can say are "bad"?

Because as of right now, all I've seen are intriguing, badass, derpy in a funny way, or so cute I'm getting diabetes just from looking at them.

That includes the new Pokémon from the trailer - at first I thought it was a Paldean Litwick, but... it was an adorable af puppy... which unfortunately I couldn't pet because apparently playing with it causes the exhaustion, lose of consciousness, and even death.

  14. Seriously, gender balancing is truly awful.

    1. Aphelli

      Aphelli

Champion from the Future: “if I had wanted you to figure out who I am, I would just have told you my name.”

See? It’s not so bad after all.😅

  15. So~... In Scarlet and Violet there WILL be a three different stories. If I understood correctly (which I doubt it), those will be:

    • fighting off the school's rebellious group
    • seeking the legendary herbal treasure
    • good ol' Gym Challenge

But... Will we have to complete all of them in one go, or just one at a time... or just one per save file? We'll see.

The new characters introduced were few, but not worse than the previous ones:

    • Mela is extravagant and lousy as fuck; but at least that's unique to canon Pokemon universe
    • Brassius is a very unique Grass Leader; as all previous Grass specialists (Erika, Gardenia, Cilan, Ramos, Mallow and Miło) are very nice, cinnamon rolls, or both. But he looks kinda... dead; but judging by dialogues, movement and the selection of Pokemon, he's just doing his impression of Andy Warhol. And also, is his ace Sudowoodo? A Gym Leader who's ace isn't in their type speciality? That's unique.
    • Geeta looks like a truly responsible and professional, yet emotional (in a positive sense) woman, yet there's one "but", which I'll discuss later.

And when it comes to Pokemon, Paldea hasn't disappointed me yet, in even one bit. There's not a single Gen 9 Pokemon that I dislike, all are at least "ok". As of those from the trailer:

    • Klawf is yet another funny Pokemon with a funny name (and it's cool to see some aquaric-like Pokemon which aren't Water-type; the only other that comes to my mind are Dratini and Dragonair). Plus its' signature Ability - Anger Shell - is a Shields Down/Berserk, but with Shell Smash effect; alright Ability, not gamebreaking but it can exist
    • Armarouge and Ceruledge are badass Pokemon, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were Legendary/Mythical Pokemon. Unfortunately, they're version exclusives, which suck, as I'd love to have both of them. Both have amazing signature moves, with Armarouge getting Special Fire equivalent of Close Combat, and Ceruledge getting Physical Fire equivalent of Leech Life. I expect them to be effective in competitive.

Overall, I'm excited to see what GameFreak will present to us, because as of right now, Scarlet and Violet can appear to be my favorite canon Pokemon game (but not overall, because I doubt it's gonna overthrow Reborn, Rejuvenation or Xenoverse).

Of course I'm not buying the game - I don't own a Switch and I have no intention of getting one, especially now, but that doesn't mean I cannot get excited over new games!

    1. Leenu

      Leenu

Gamefreak will never produce a game with the amount of passion that goes/went into reborn and rejuv imo. Just because they have hard deadlines and profit margins to follow.

    2. Evi Crystal

      Evi Crystal

That's true *looks at Let's Go and SWSH games*

  16. Somehow... I got Archie on my first x11 pull, but I couldn't get Maxie after 4 of those...

With Archie situation, I had only 10,46% chance for at least one, while in Maxie's, whole 35,7%

Is it because I was openly favoring rain over sun - both in Pokemon competitive and in real life - and liking Team Aqua/Aqua Gang rather than Team Magma/Magma Gang? Was that a karma?

Yet, I'm not panicking - with banner ending in October the 2nd, and 3rd Anniversary starting now, I've got a plenty of time to get him - and even 3/5'ing both of Hoenn Antagonists.

  17. Sometimes, I am actually terrified of what my brain is capable of.

While creating some plot for my fanmade game, there is one specific, old dialogue that now has gotten my attention. Especially, this part:

    Quote

(...) But then... everything changed 30 years ago. More specifically, during the day of the the fifteen anniversary of my Championship reign.

A mysterious event occurred in the neighboring region, west of Sacroc. At the time, no one was certain who, or what, had been responsible... yet the damage was truly terryfing, with the region being split into four. The causalities also were massive, both in infrastructure... and in humans...

...oh, forgive me <player> - recalling those memories are gruesome... in fact, one of my closer friends was one of the victims of it, as she had tried to-... No, she wouldn't accept me...

    (...)

    {the moment when he tries to control himself}

    (...)

Believe it or not, <player>, the catastrophe was about to strike this region too. Fortunately, it has stopped before going deeper into land, with it only managing to grasp the western coast, tearing over the absorbed piece of land between Grand Strait and Viadra River, creating currently known Viadra Strait. People and Pokemon of Sacroc Region were thanking Gods for their assistance and protection... the same couldn't be said about our friends.

Of course, we did our best to assist them in regaining the region... But as of right now, it still is separated. We were doing our best, but it wasn't enough. Which, if we think about it <player>, is the perfect analogy of my entire reign.

They have worked around it, however, and despite region still being in four, it is more united than it has ever been. Yet, the events of it are still engraved into minds of both regions, which are currently known as "The Great Calamity".

    (...) {and then he talks about times after his retirement from Champion spot}

I bet some of you know where this is going, but step by step. The man talking in here is Vultus - in-game, he's Supervisor of Sacroc Pokemon League, advisor of Prince (that is title, not name), and former Sacroc Grand Champion, having perhaps one of the longest reigns of all Grand Champions in the known Pokemon world (both canon and fanmade), reigning for 40 years before ultimately retiring, 5 years before the events of "Pokemon Heaven and Hell" {he's in game 89 years old, btw}.

That dialogue (used in main post-game quest) was created, according to my sources, in February 2021 (or earlier, because there is written a last date of editing on it). So then I have known about Reborn... but not Rejuvenation. And, the region neighboring with Sacroc... might actually be Aevium.

According to KingInfernal's "Geography and Timeline of Reborn and Aevium (which is VERY BASED on canon data and devs' claims), Storm-9 had split Aevium into four sub-regions 40 years before events of Rejuvenation. Now, ✨math lesson✨

    • Rejuvenation has begun 21 years after the events in Kanto Region.
    • Which means Storm-9 (also known as "The Calamity") happened 18 years before Kanto (and not 19 years, because @KingInfernal has counted Kanto events as "Year 0", then has forgotten about it in the calculations)
    • Vultus claimed that "The Great Calamity" had happened 30 years before the events, so events of "Heaven and Hell", on this timeline, happened on Year 12/13, after Alola events.
      • It is said that events of Sacroc Region began shortly after Pokemon World Championship, during Oscar (one of the major NPCs) had participated. And PWC happened shortly after Galarian Star Tournament (in that universe). Unfortunately, neither Infernal nor myself can put SwSh on the timeline due to lack of legacy characters and no seemingly connections to other regions. So, this actually is on our benefit, not having to bother with another layer of complications
      • That connects with my fanfic (which isn't canon to either Sacroc nor Reborn games), where Oscar is said to have arrived to Reborn around half a year after Sacroc protagonist has become new Champion, and since Reborn is said to happen around Year 13/14 (that calculating mistake surely mixes things up), that matches up... almost perfectly

    Not enough?

Vultus had admitted to lost dear friend, who has apparently "sacrificed herself to "minimize the casualties" "... Whatever was that supposed to mean... And also she seemingly wouldn't accept him lamenting over her.

While there's nowhere written more about her, I assume that could be Vivian, which did sacrifice herself to stop Storm-9. She would be around 67-69 if she was living in Rejuvenation. So there's a gap... LARGE age gap... But that wouldn't stop them from being friends - two kind, passionate, never-lying spirits associating with nature.

That ain't much, BUT... there's more - perhaps the strongest potential connection.

Aevium is said to be (somewhat) bordering with Kalos, and be approximately close to Galar. Also, split into 4 parts. Since Kalos is France, and Galar is United Kingdom, then Aevium could be... Germany

Germany is bordering with France, quite close to UK, and the four pieces could symbolize events of May 1945, where III Reich was split into four spheres of influence: French, British, American, and Soviet. And it had taken 44 years to reunite completely. Still, in 1985 (40 years after), both Western and Eastern Germany were quite close to each other, just like Aevian sub-regions.

And if we use real-life geography to locate Pokemon regions, then if Aevium is Germany (approximately; in terms of location), then... Aevium and Sacroc are neighboring - Sacroc is based on Poland, and it's western neighbor IS Germany. Meaning "The Great Calamity" Vultus was talking about, was Aevium's Storm-9.

So that can wrap things up.

I still cannot get over the fact I have created this, and... it somehow connects almost perfectly, despite not knowing anything about Rejuvenation or Aevium or... anything.

That really freaked me out during discovering - just like when I realized I can see future while sleeping. Like... The exact events from future appear in my dreams, and I keep having that "deja-vu" from time to time.

    Human brain is really powerful

Also, just reread you're story aboive and... If Aevium is Germany, near Kalos and Galar, that would mean whatever Gen 9's region name is would also be close to it.

Unneeded thing: Elgor is based of North America. Unnecessary knowledge you now have.

A few things about where I would say the Masters' Tournament would fall in line with the time line:

After the events (Plus Postgame) of Pokemon Refraction, and that falls into line 14 years after the events of Pokemon Reborn (Ep. 19 included). The Masters' Tournament takes place a year after that, sooo...

Someone help me figure this out.

    3. Oscarus

      Oscarus

Masters' Tournament would be somewhere in Year 28/29, after Rejuvenation, but before Xenoverse

  18. Sorry I'm bothering, but I want to ask the question.

While creating the update to Ame's "semi-canon" team, should I:

    • limit myself to Pokémon available only in Reborn (canon Pokémon from Gens 1-7)
    • use some Pokemon from Gen 8 (new ones and Galarian forms) and Aevian Forms from Rejuvenation (because Reborn and Aevium are, sorta, connected to each other)

Please, be honest with me - say what you think, not what I want to hear.

    1. Dark Legend

      Dark Legend

I think should limit to only Reborn. Maybe, if, Ame was in Rejuvenation, then you could use Aevian forms

    2. Aphelli

      Aphelli

Honestly? I think you’re overthinking this. But it certainly also depends on what you’re trying to do. Is it more of an Ame-themed team, or something that in game would be a good Champion team?

I believe the latter requires to stick to Reborn availabilities (absent any compelling reasons). But if you lean towards the former, I wouldn’t be shocked if Ame had a Galar Pokemon or an Aevian form – within reason: she’s not Aevian or Galarian (unless you want to make her so), but she’s a traveller (as suggested by the first game scene).

PS: you said you were writing fanfiction. Could you give me the link, please?

    3. Oscarus

      Oscarus

      About fanfic...

I'm repairing it, as there were quite a few holes (literally) and I think not so much emotions in dialogues, and the aesthetical descriptions sucked; I'm not an English native speaker so my vocabulary is limited

Of course, over the time, the writing style was better, but wanted to refresh everything.

Fortunately, I have finished the first semester in "undergraduate education" already, so I have 3 weeks of free time, and I'll try to repair it completely, so I can move on.

  19. Splitting EVs... SUCKS!

Having to calculate how many EVs in HP or either Defenses are necessary to survive that specific move from that specific Pokemon on that specific Field with that specific stat changes and with that specific moveset...

It wouldn't be that bad if I had a list of Pokemon opponent could have theorically bring, but NO - they can bring fucking everything! And knowing some of them love doing random strats with very niche or useless Pokemon-... Those from Smogon boast how they can create the best movesets, stat spreads and all, but only because they - most of the time - have a predetermined list of Pokemon that can appear on that specific tier. And those Pokemon usually already have specific moves, so it's far easier.

But I, knowing that every single Pokemon (even those NFE) with random movesets can appear, and also Fields are a factor too-... I can't split EVs like a pro because of that. And I can't split EVs at all...

So... In that project... You will have simply 2x252 EV and 1x4 EV, because I don't want to waste my life doing something which is completely insignificant.

    Spoiler

And no, I won't be copying from Smogon.

I do have some dignity left, haven't I?

    1. OmegaStellarSolare

      OmegaStellarSolare

You mean 1x6 EV. Am I right?

    2. Oscarus

      Oscarus

I mean that every set would consist of 2 stats having 252 EVs (maximum) and 1 having 4 EVs because... 6 EVs will have the exact same effect as 4 EVs, and 2 EVs the effect of 0 EVs

EVs work in such way that 4 EVs are equal to 1 point in total stat. That's why all stat spreads have the EV numbers sorted in that way so every number of EV given to one stat is divisible by 4.

Yes, the maximum number of EVs total is 510, but 510 isn't divisible by 4, so there will be points left, which will do nothing.

  20. Spoilers to Scarlet/Violet

    Spoiler

After hearing that Tyranitar will have a Paradox form (either Past or Future Form), I couldn't resist but to see it, and... and...

    Spoiler

    Oh, my, GOD.

It's so BADASS - looks almost like Armored Tyranitar from Insurgence, but with more armor, and green spikes.

If to trust the leaks about typing and stat spread, it will have Rock/Electric typing, the same HP, Attack and Defense, but only 70 Special Attack, 84 Special Defense, and 72 Speed. That means its' BST is only 570, which is by no means bad, but it's not the 600 BST normal Tyranitar has. Yet, seeing that all Paradox Pokemon have 570 BST, including those based on other Pseudolegendary and Legendary Pokemon (like Salamence, Hydreigon, Suicune, Virizon), and likes of Delibird and Jigglypuff, I think this was to be intended - they would be an equivalent of Ultra Beasts (but cooler)

And about the typing... I think Rock/Electric is a bit better defensively than Rock/Dark:

    • Rock/Electric has 4 weaknesses (one of them being x4), and 5 resistances
    • Rock/Dark has 7 weaknesses (one of them being x4), 6 resistances and a immunity

Offensively they fare rather similarily, with Rock/Dark having a slight edge in "how well they fare against Pokemon in general".

Whenever Paradox Tyranitar will be better than Johtonian Tyranitar will depend on the Ability; Sand Stream helps normal Tyranitar being more bulky specially, and makes it a necessary stable of Sandstorm teams.

If Paradox Tyranitar doesn't have Sand Stream, it means that specially it's gonna be quite fragile by comparison. Plus all Psyhical Electric moves which are widely accessible... suck.

    But the Pokemon looks badass

    And that's what matters

  21. Stakataka's x4 weaknesses made their presence fell to me... in a hard way.

So, I decided to replace it with Celesteela - another bulky and offensive Ultra Beast.

Yes, I've said that I hate that UB... but the effectiveness and wide coverage can't be denied. Honestly, I've had the trouble with deciding whether should I use psyhical or special side of offense (as Celesteela's Attack and Special Attack are almost equal). Ultimately, I decided for special side, with seemingly better coverage for my tastes (and Giga Drain being able to heal it)

And it helped me a few times - easily tanking Rain-boosted Ludicolo's Hydro Vortex (from Hydro Pump).

Now, that team has a 15-3 record (Win Rate of 83,3%, which isn't that good, but for now it can be)

  22. The games' not out yet... And many websites, including YouTube, are full of spoilers.

While I don't mind spoilers like: "Oh, this Pokemon's gonna get a new evolution/form", or "That plot-irrelevant characters will be one of the Gym Leaders", or just soundtracks, the spoilers about plot, ESPECIALLY those including end-game twists... I HATE THEM WILL ALL MY HEART

So imagine my reaction, when I listen to Scarlet's & Violet's soundtrack (which, side note, it slaps (at least to me)), only for a brief moment when one OST switches to another on the playlist, when I was awaiting to see what OST it is... and seeing top comment with a MASSIVE, MIND-TWISTING END-GAME SPOILER ABOUT MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS! WITHOUT ANY WARNING!!!

And it's not like I entered the comment section to see comments, it just popped up with the OST.

I was completely NOT prepared for this... And I'll never see them in the same light ever again...

Which is, is, I... I wanna have that person's fingers cut off and mouth stitched!

Because you SHOULDN'T MASSIVELY SPOIL GAMES THAT MILLIONS OF PLAYERS AROUND THE WORLD ARE EAGERLY WAITING FOR, THAT HAVEN'T COME OUT YET, JUST BECAUSE YOU WERE SOME GODDAMM BETA TESTER!

...i don't think i'll recover from this disappointment till christmas, I'd say...

      Spoiler

Actually, in the anime, during his battle with Leon, he was presented as "Lance of the Elite Four", signifying he had lost the position.

But now I check Bulbapedia, and he apparently in the last episode was referred as "Champion of Kanto and Johto"... so you're right.

I'm not watching anime regularly, and spoilers on YT and other sources are so common it's nearly impossible to avoid. And my friends spoiled it to me too...

So, we have, in fact, all Grand Champions of canon regions... plus one, semi-random Trainer.

To be fair, I'm not mad.

Actually, I think that the list is perhaps the most accurate as it can be. Maybe I wanted a Frontier Brain like Anabel, Brandon or Palmer to appear, but... The list makes sense - all current and currently-known Champions are there, so it makes sense.

One could argue with the rankings within the list, but since they (probably) didn't battle each other (expect some matches in the past, like Alain vs Diantha, Ash vs Leon, Ash vs Iris and Leon vs Lance), the more they battled, the higher they are.

    3. OmegaStellarSolare

      OmegaStellarSolare

It took more than 90 episodes for Lance to appear with his title as a champion so that's not surprising at all.

  24. The more I am committed to creating a fanmade game... The more I realize how big of a chore it is!

It's not only story-telling, character- and city-designing, creating teams, and coding... but also balancing, upgrading the AI, multichecking, putting things on the map, working around barriers and anti-hacks, and many... MANY MORE!

While I do wish to present to you our (because I won't be the only one to create a game, duh~) project, I realize that it's not going to be easy.

Also, a bit of a personal question: do you prefer classical, 8-Gym version with main series mechanics and average-length plot (either 7+ or 13+), or Reborn-styled 18-Gym version with Fields, very long and 16+ plot?

    1. NeoBolt

      NeoBolt

I like the 18 gym mode personally like reborn, but yeaa depends how the story goes and how everything marinates well together, so even less can be good too
