Static Pokemon?

Are static encounters with regular pokemon (non Legendary) limited to just 1? Also if there are two pokemon that have the same static encounter

(like Joltik/Grubbin, Pachirisu/Zigzagoon, etc..)

do you only get 1 and never get the other ever? Also are static encounters optional or do you have to do them in order for the stories to progress in both games?

 

Sorry for so many questions and sorry if this was already addressed but i couldn't seem to find an answer.

 

Any help would be seriously appreciated.

Most static encounters are limited to just one at the time, but the majority of early ones at least should be available later in the game as wild pokemon, either in that form or their evolutions. This also applies to all the events that have one of several possible pokemon.

Since none are marked as 'limited event' every nonlegendary pokemon should be obtainable on a single save file without online trading, but ones that are currently marked in the slightly darker gray like this abra;

Only have a non-repeatable event as a way to obtain them.

As for story, I don't think any are required for progressing through the main story.
