Top 10 Favorite non-playable pokegirls?

Recommended Posts

Pokemon has never been a stranger to having female characters, many of whom are actually pretty strong. While some gaming franchises have trouble with female rep pokemon always did a good job not being weird about it and having it feel very natural  and respectful. Admittedly it did take 4 games to be able to play as a girl so maybe I'm giving GF too much credit lol, but the series I feel does deserve some credit.

So anyway, who are your favorite female pokemon characters, or pokegirls as the fanbase likes to call them? Now fair warning, please if you post any artwork to have it tasteful, no stuff like skyla blushing with legs spread open and boobies out uguuuuu~ type- stuff lol. Oh yes and NPC ones, player characters like Selene and Leaf don't count, we'll save them for another topic.

Spoiler

10: Clair - she's Johto's last leader, has cool blue hair and seemed pretty serious about wanting to win, even going into scrub mode when you beat her. I also liked her original gen 2 dragonbeath line which sadly was removed in gen 4.  kingdra was quite the ace back in gen 2 as the only SE moves against it available at that point, one with a pitiful 40 BP.

9: Misty - THE classic pokegirl, us old schoolers who remember back in the 150 days probably all have some love for Misty. She's the first real challenge of gen 1 and rocks a powerful ace, plus she's a cool and spunky. I really like her HG/SS redesign.

8: Shelly(ORAS) - I absolutely love her redesign and find it among the best in ORAS, especially compared to some of the other revamps in that game, which were hit or miss.

7: Lucy - pike queen lucy, possibly one of the biggest bitches in pokemon. And I love her for it, she doesn't thank you for a good battle or anything, she visibly shows disgust for losing and basically tells you to GTFO. LOVE IT.

6: Skyla - Unova's buxom redhead, skyla was a fan favorite of gen 5. While her battle isn't that amazing, she's still quite likable IMO and was the first flying specialist I personally had a notable fondness for. she's hot too.

5: Lusamine - perhaps my favorite pokemon villain, or at least close, she was a nice shakeup for the villain formula pokemon has used for the past decade or so. Her design is awesome, her music rocks, her expressions are delightful and she's just a lot of fun to watch. I only wish we could've fought her jelly form properly.

4: Olivia - dat intro, this lovely lady is easily my favorite rock specialist yet and her E4 battle can be rather tricky since her lycanroc hits harder than you'd expect(and can OHKO metagross with counter <_< ) and more than half her team has sturdy. I also love her pre-battle E4 pose. It sort of embodies her personality to me.

3: Lillie - GAAAAAH her 1st theme is so beautiful. Easily one of best written characters in the series, I really enjoyed her character arc in S&M. Personally I like floppy hat lillie's look more but adventure Lillie is good too. Pic link

2: Cynthia - aka THE HIGH QUEEN. Cynthia is the best champ in pokemon and is just plain awesome. Red can eat his heart out. I see Cynthia as being symbolic of the latter half of the franchise, and I feel she's kind of the New Generation Red in that way.

1: Sabrina - still my #1 gym leader, Sabrina is flat out badass and oozes a sense of power. She's the only gym leader shown so far who got her position by beating a previous leader and stripping their title, and she had control of the strongest type in gen 1. She's also pretty beastly in BW2's PWT and the hardest psychic specialist. Personally my favorite design for her is 3rd gen

10. Lorelei was up there for me - when I was a young chap she was one of the hardest E4 members for me in FR/LG. That whole thing with that one island with the ice cave being her home town was a nice little backstory to a degree for her too, so yeah. She uses Ice Pokemon, mad props.

9. Misty was probably everyone's favourite red head, or orange head, whatever you wanna dub it. Water type user early on didn't really let her unlock much of her potential, but in HGSS they had that rematch system and it was kinda cool to see her use more than the Starfish Pokemon.

8. Glacia is another Ice type user in the E4, but from the Hoenn region. Cool personality and all that. Mirrors whatever I said about Lorelei, got a lot of respect for Ice type users.

7. Flannery is also definitely up there, I mean a red haired Fire type user, c'mon. She was dope, her gym was dope, all round cool.

6. Cheryl was appealing in her own unique way. Her Pokemon usage was not the standout for me during DPP. Probably her personality that stood out, shy and frightened but actually turned out to be quite tough.

5. Clair is probably a given for everyone. Uniquely badass and probably the standout female leader with her mastery of Dragon types.

4. Cynthia was Sinnoh's token badass, and her appearances throughout the other games such as Black & White 2 and HGSS made her a character to remember. Her character was something else, and could probably be described as "tough", venturing into the Distortion World alongside the player to go face to face with danger.

3. Winona was elegant.

2. Jasmine had a nurturing, caring kind of personality trait about her, dumping her official League duties to take care of a sick Ampharos. Respectable, willing to risk punishment in order to take care of a Pokemon.

1. Nurse Joy is simply everyone's favourite nurse, constantly recurring throughout the many Pokemon games.

Jasmine is the Shelly of canon games, therefore the best pokégrill imo. That and I have huge nostalgia goggles for Gold/Silver/Crystal

Other pokégirls I appreciate include: Sabrina, Agatha (lol), Clair, Karen, Flannery, Cynthia, Elesa, Skyla and Gardevoir. Wait no that's a pokémon. Doesn't matter great pokégrill anyway

Sorry but no Gen 6/7 girls as I haven't played the corresponding games.

Also sorry but no proper top 10 because I couldn't rank them in any specific order.

Hmm, let's see...

Misty, because, she's freaking Misty. She's still my favourite character from the anime, and her team is actually pretty tough when you face her (depending on your team and the amount of grinding you did, of course). I also like her fiery personality and tomboy attitude.

Jasmine has also been one of my favourite gym leaders for ages. I was drawn to her shy personality and simple design, and now that I'm older, I can also appreciate the compassionate nature of her character. The fact that she gives you such a quest also helps give her importance in the story and makes her more memorable (for me, anyway).

Speaking of old favourites, I also need to give Winona a mention. My 2004-self liked her demeanor, gracefulness, and design. Plus, Fortree being so unique helped make its gym leader stand out as well.

Cynthia. Need I say more? Okay, she's a freaking kickbutt champion (the first female, I may add) with notable story importance and a great design. That's all that needs to be said, really.

Lillie's character arc was something I really liked in S/M, focusing on an NPC's development so extensively is a rarity for the franchise, which made Lillie stand out among the other supporting cast. It really does feel like you're going through the journey together. I also liked her ties with Cosmog and her personality in general. She's adorable! I was crushed when the spoiler happened at the end.

Bianca is similar to Lillie, but with far less focus. That doesn't mean she's any less of a character though, and I enjoyed the angle they took with her role in the story. Too bad we couldn't tell her she was actually pretty good at battling!

I liked Yancy's unique role in BW2, and just her design and personality in general. Plus, I have a habit of shipping, and she ended up being my pair for Nate pretty quick, haha.

Marley from DPP is another favourite of mine. I feel like I'm repeating myself now, but I like her design and character. She was also a part of a quest, which gives her some additional screentime (which is always awesome when it comes to Marley).

I'll add two more later cx
