I am training karate since I was 5, so for about 19-20 years. I got the black belt 2nd Dan, but I don't really care about belts, I started to go on tournaments when I got the yellow belt (thats the first one you earn). Here is what I have accomplished so far:

And here are my best results:

Sword and shield? Sounds good to me. That would probably be one of my preferred sets if I had those boffers (shield bash ftw). Be warned. As much as I enjoy the range a spear gives me, I will absolutely close in and use close combat techniques if given the opportunity. Like... trips, throws and chokes. Or body blows if I don't like ya.

Why not use the spear as footing to attack with a kick? More badass, more acrobatic and unexpected

Azery, please, contribute something to the conversation at hand instead of just posting for the sake of posting.

I always enjoyed two things during my times at... eyetwitch Tiger Schulman's, the wood breaking, and the grappling.

@Murdoc, what's an epee?

An epee is a fencing sword with a large rounded shield.

This one just happens to have a pistol grip on it instead of a traditional one.

When fencing with this, the rules and target areas are different.

Meh, if I want a hilt it would be on a broadsword.

Those are fun.

And Mael does close quarters fisticuffs in a weapon based fight if he is losing needs an advantage.

gimme an epee and a sidearm and i will shrek all of you, just saiyan

Challenge accepted.

What state are you in? I've got an epic road trip coming up and I plan on saying hi to willing Rebornians.

"different"

you mean "everything that isn't floor or a weapon is target"

Sounds fun. I am sure you will be a bit more experienced by then being that you and I would have had several matches with each other by then.

Well I don't own any boffers. But I'd take up the spear challenge. I'd need to practice a little more and rely more on other combat techniques (kicks and such). I'd end up doing more bo techniques than spear.

I personally prefer more short ranged weapons like swords and knives.

Yeah, but you gotta remember the weapons triangle you learned playing fire emblem. ::riven::
