  1. As if possessed, Boss moves to the closest enemy in sight and attempts to cleave them in half. I21, attack Myrmidon B with Steel Halberd
  2. Boss completely kept her hands free of the stew while it was being made and after it was served. It wasn't her specialty--She liked having meat solid and chewy rather than simmered. She remembers giving someone a bit of game that looked familiar in there, though. She can tell something happened when everyone's expressions suddenly turned grave, but without any clear idea of the context, she chooses to stay quiet. Even Vaughn is eating more quietly than usual. "..." Wordlessly, Boss takes a mushroom skewer from Shin's offered plate and trades it for a piece of grilled venison.
  3. "Some." At Mina's question, Boss digs around her bag for a few glass vials of dried herbs and spices. Mostly foraged, but some of it is bought from villages. "Why?" At the third person joining in, Boss nods, then says very gravely, "This isn't going to be enough by itself." Not enough meat, that is. Because of the thin slices, it looks like a lot, but it's maybe one or two servings. "Maybe Vaughn can catch something too."
  4. "I'm not hungry." Boss doesn't even look at him. Despite how sharp her words might sound, the way she says them is utterly neutral--just stating facts. "...We should finish it today though." Something that might not be immediately obvious: Boss has spices, but she doesn't usually use more than a very small amount, and she reserves most of the salt personally. In a pinch you can live off of just a handful, which she's done before. Vaughn trudges around in the grass somewhere nearby. Probably looking for mice or something. "If you want to help... you can start a fire." Boss begins to cut the remaining meat into slices.
  5. "Not much left." Boss has maybe one, two small parcels. One or two deer only give so much, even if she's been very resourceful with it. Vaughn takes a cut every time too. "Could dry it. Do you have any salt?" Salt is a precious commodity when you don't visit a village more than... maybe once a year or so. The longer they're in an area with game, the more she can prepare for a place that doesn't. All of this talking makes her head spin. It's been several summers since she's heard this much talking in one place. In any case it's good to know that the disheveled-looking man is fine after the fall and doesn't have any hard feelings about it. She didn't think he'd get knocked off his horse.
  6. Boss stares, as blank as ever. Uhh, dangerous operation, traitors, something... Boss has never understood even a little bit of politics, despite having it explained to her more than once. To be honest, she has no idea why she is here. Sounds like a job or something? They looked hungry so she shared some provisions and now she's here. It has been a long time since she's travelled with a group. Maybe it'll go better this time. Why not? ...Something about a mask and a codename? It's hard to think of something good. Boss's naming conventions tend to be as literal as possible--A spear called "the spear", an axe called "the axe", no more effort than necessary. The only reason Vaughn has a proper name is because she already had a nametag. "A codename? ...Is 'Codename' good enough?" Vaughn swings her tail at Boss's torso. She stumbles but doesn't fall. "...No, it isn't..." Boss acquiesces. It seems it will take more time for her to think of something. As for a way to cover her face, she has a hood already and a face-warmer in her bag. That much will be easy.
  7. Boss shakes her head. "Got it today." Vaughn's head suddenly lunges at her hand. Boss grabs her by the snout and holds the meat away from her. It's reminiscent of a guardian keeping a child from sticking their fingers in uncooked pastry by pushing their forehead. Except, in this case, the child is a large adult wyvern with very sharp teeth. Otherwise, Boss completely ignores her, continuing to address "Arrrrcrimson". "Do you want some?"
  8. Arrrrcrimson. What a long name. How many R's is that? Boss's spelling has always been a bit spotty. But very legible, she promises. Not like Vaughn's. (Boss is unaware of how low of a bar that is.) "..." "...I have deer." She holds up a bag, with wrapped packages of deer meat inside. They're from earlier today, very fresh.
  9. Seeing that Mina is safe and the man now on the floor is presumably alive, Boss notices someone talking to her. Following suit, she points at herself. "Boss." She points at her wyvern, who makes a chuffing sound. "Vaughn." That's her entire introduction. Her stare is utterly blank. To be fair, it's immediately obvious that she is a wyvern rider. She pauses. After a moment of silence: "Sorry."
  10. Boss sees a man on a horse approaching as Vaughn flies lower. He's yelling and waving. ("A meeting?") If this is somewhere Mina wants to drop, it makes sense that someone is waiting for her. As the wyvern glides down close to the ground, Boss taps her on the wing. Vaughn lets go of Mina at a low elevation, aiming for the ragged man on the horse. After launching dropping off Mina, Boss lands close by. Vaughn's claws drag a small cloud of dirt behind them. She turns around to look. ("...She didn't die, did she?") Vaughn grunts. Boss takes it as "No, probably."
  11. It's not very easy to see her over the pitch-black wyvern, especially from a distance, but a boyish-looking girl in warm clothes is holding onto the saddle of the mount. "What?" Boss barely raises her voice, feeling a tap on her shoe. The beat of a wyvern's wings is loud, and the wind even more so. She can't hear a word Mina's saying, but she assumes she's just afraid of heights or something--Completely unaware that Vaughn has neglected her duties of carrying properly and that Mina is in mortal danger of falling. It's very hard to see her from this angle. "Is this the place?" Boss glances down at the landscape. Wow, lots of bodies. Mina wants to get dropped off here? Weird, but okay. Boss signals for Vaughn to start lowering.
  12. "...Something changed?" "Grr." (Maybe iron deficiency.) Boss promotes to Wyvern Rider!
  13. Here I am! Giving it a shot. < Vaughn Boss would probably use a kind of blue or black-adjacent text (depends on what others already have). Vaughn would use a darker shade, if not the exact same color.
