  1. Not exactly.

I evolved my Charmeleon to Charizard and common candied it and got Ampheros to level 35 but ShogokiX's 100% guaranteed strategy is NOT working beyond the fake out part.
Bubble beam, rock slide and now ancient power are still sweeping me and I can't one-hit KO araquanid before it uses its damn rain dance!
The moves that don't one-hit KO me, which is pretty much just bubble beam on Charizard and Rock Slide on Ampheros have me wasting a lot of turns on lemonades and super potions and she has at least two hyper potions though she's not used them often.
    What am I doing wrong?

I appreciate a challenge that surpasses the canon games but this battle is infuriatingly ridiculous. It's borderline unfair!

The thing is though, I find her to be a pretty cute character and her AI seems to be impressively aware.
When I first started, she'd send out either Anaroth or Heather after Illumise and it wasn't until the SECOND time I used the fake out tactic that she changed and started following illumise with araquanid as though I took her off guard the first time but she learned and adapted even though I don't let the game register me whiting out because I shut it off as my last Pokemon is going down (or after I lose both Charizard and Amphorose since I started this strategy).

    BTW, I'm not a dude.

  2. Alright, I'll give it a go.
I've already got the Mareep (which I feel a bit bad about since apparently we stole it from that poor frantic dude), so it's just a matter of catching an Espurr and leveling them up.

It's ironic. I just recently overwrote Fake Out on my Meowth with Pay Day. I very nearly didn't need to bother with an Espurr. Oh well.

The solution to your problem is an easy one:

Shelly has 2 Pokémon that use Rain Dance. Those are Illumise, who has Prankster ability, and Araquanid. If you can take both of them out before they can act you won't have any problem. Illumise will always be one of the two she starts with, so we need a little preparation:

Step 1: Catch an Espurr in Lapis Ward Backalleys. That's where the Aqua Gang hideout is. You don't need to join a gang, just run a round in what little space you have there to find wild Pokémon. Espurr should learn Fake Out at Level 19, which you want to have.

Step 2: Get the Mareep in Jasper Ward. You can get it by going into the house on the right of the Pokémon-Center and talk to the man who runs around in panic. After that you walk all the way to the east as if you were going to Beryl Ward. There is a path south there and in one of the houses you'll find Mareep. Feed it PokéSnax and it's yours. Train Mareep so you have an Ampharos Make sure it learns Thunder Punch on evolution. Train Ampharos to Level 35 to learn Power Gem.

Step 3: Get some healing items and save right before Shelly, just in case.

Step 4: Start the battle with your Charmeleon and Espurr (Meowstic, if you trained it). Have Meowstic use Fake Out on Illumise on the first turn and make sure Charmeleon uses its strongest fire Move to kill Illumise on Turn one as well.

Step 5: Keep Charmeleon alive, but let Espurr/Meowstic go down. Easiest way to do that is not training Espurr after capturing it. As long as it knows Fake Out you are good for this fight.

Step 6: Bring out Ampharos once Espurr/Meowstic goes down and tear through her team. Power Gem hits everything very effective, including Anorith, since rock type Pokémon doesn't resist rock type attacks. Thunder Punch is for Araquanid.

I will guarantee that this strategy works 100%.

    A couple of things:
    1. The Fake Out technique is meant to stop Illumise from using Rain Dance, but you said Araquanid also uses Rain Dance. Do I need to be concerned about that?
    2. There is a potential problem with using Charmeleon as a lead. She starts with Masqurain alongside Illumise which knows bubble beam.

(Side note: I don't know what the deal is with the quote box, this happened to a post of mine in the Ttar thread as well)

  4. How do I beat this bitch?!
She's a got a fucking move for EVERYTHING!

    My initial team was:
    Trubbish lvl. 35
    Ducklett lvl. 35
    Noibat. lvl. 34
    Dustox lvl. 35
    Charmeleon lvl. 35
    Klink lvl. 34

The problem with this team was that none of it could withstand Anorith's Rock Slide.
So I swapped out Dustox and Noibat for a Sandslash and a Graveler both level 34 but 3 of her Pokemon have water moves that sweep them too!
Even my trusty Toxic Spikes isn't helping! It doesn't even affect Yanmega!

So what am I supposed to do?!
This is making me want to throw my laptop against the wall (though not really because it was expensive).

Yeah the start of ASER was about when I found him. good stuff, though the 'random' part becomes more and more of a stretch lol.

I got that feeling watching his Sun/Moon Extreme Randomizer, which I need to check up on, it was incomplete when I watched it.
When Shmurda showed up as a Totem ally. His reaction was so genuinely shocked but I can't imagine how that was "random".

If you're following along with the series, you might want to beware of spoilers in this thread, since basically all the regulars here have completed the game and will speak freely about future content.

I'll be mindful of that. Thanx.

  6. I totally love this guy. He's hilarious.
Did anyone here watch his Extreme Alpha Sapphire Randomizer Nuzlocke? If not I highly recommend it. It's EPIC!

He's the one who turned me onto this game.
I'm watching at pace with my own playthrough after initially catching up.

I'm just after Corey's suicide. I've caught the static Shuppet (shiny!) and am now in the Lapis Ward anticipating the upcoming battle with Cain at Beryl Cemetary. Apparently Lapis is where you obtain rock smash which is needed to surpass limited progression in the cemetery.

I've got him paused in the middle of the suicide cut scene because I got a little lost as to what needed to be done next. I cringed at his negligence to use Jaques' gust to clear the poison from Corey's field. It was the better deal between his and mine. I didn't have gust, I had to use fire and sacrifice my Chameleon.

Fortunately, I'll never touch Nuzlocke territory.
It's far too limiting for my pleasure, I could never stick to just one Pokemon per area or stop using a fainted Pokemon.

  7. Interesting.

I carried around a Meowth for the first two badges worth of the plot and around level 26-27 her pickup reduced in function heavily.

I've recently been made fully aware that it's a 10% chance and it's after battles that it applies but up until that point, she'd found me 10 Great Balls, about 6 Choco Candies, about 5 Dusk Balls a few ultra potions and a few blast powders.
I found it a bit strange that her pickup functionality went from that nothing but an occasional super repel (though I appreciated those as well as money fodder since most trainer payouts are very low due to the region's extreme state of poverty).

It was difficult, I even prevented her from evolving for a couple of levels but it got to the extent that I had to replace her on my team because she's ass in battle so as much as I love her she's a waste of a slot, at least as a Meowth. I hate that Persian can't maintain Pickup like Linoon and Linoon isn't all that useful in battle either.

  8. I just finished the Onix ward gym and have caught a Sentret I want to evolve and trade the one girl for her "table cloth Pokemon". I'd rather have the Daycare Couple handle the necessary leveling up but they somehow recognize me (which I don't understand, we're new to the region and the only remarkable thing we've done is the factory raid) and frantically turn me away.

Through Googling, I have learned that this is a phony daycare couple and that the real daycare couple are locked in one of the warehouses in the Coral Ward. This was hardly surprising, after talking to the girl south of the Pokemon Center who tells you that that the daycare couple refused to return her Pokemon I suspected something shady was going on there.

    According to this old thread:

the Reborn Wikia, the key to the warehouse is in the abandoned Obsidia Park house but I've been there twice and checked every available tile but have found nothing.

Have I been unfortunate enough to stumble onto a glitch or am I simply too early for this event? I'm hoping it's the latter even though I don't expect to need the daycare too much apart from the Sentret I intend to trade as a Furret.

  9. 'Sup?

I'm a Pokemon vet you could say.

I started playing with Yellow in 2001 at the age of 13 when my best friend showed her hers and made me HAVE to have it.
While Hoenn turned me off the anime (though I've watched episodes here and there since then), nothing can turn me off the games.

I'm stoked for Sword and Shield, my birthday is next month, about a week and a half or so following the release (November 30th) and my fingers are crossed that I will receive it then or at least for Christmas.

If not, hell, I'll buy it myself but it would be nice to not have to spend $60+. That's like what I spend on groceries.

A popular Youtuber called TyranitarTube turned me onto Reborn just a few nights ago.
I've just finished the Poppilo event in the Coral Ward and I'm loving every moment--except that Poppilo event itself!
When I saw that little guy stuck on that island I got so excited. Not only did I need a good water type (not the ass Goldeen I briefly put up with) but I've never had a Poppilo before. I started with Rowlet in Moon which is the only Alolan game I've played so far. I was so pissed off that Cain ended up with it.

I felt gypped that the only thing I got out of that event was a battle that made me curse having swapped out my Cherubi for the slums egg (though I still managed to win the first time mostly due to my boss Charmeleon's Dragon Rage).

I'll admit that the Ducklett that hatches from the slums egg is impressive to the extent that it might be stronger as a fighting adversary than my shiny Noctowl (about half my team and half my PC are shinies due to how much time I spend grinding) and for the moment will have to do as my water type but damn I wanted that Poppilo.

Did I just intentionally use this intro to vent? Yes. Yes, I did. Deal with it. 😏

Why didn't I choose Poppilo as my starter?

It wasn't my desire at the time. Charmander was and considering the 3-0 water vs. fire availability up to this point I DO NOT regret it. Lux (my Charmeleon's nickname, it's Latin for 'light') has been my rock.

Aside from that, the region and plot are brilliant and the music is so badass that I actually want to have it turned on. You should note that the latter NEVER happens! EVER!
I ALWAYS have the volume on my handhelds or emulators muted because I'm not interested in the game's music would rather focus on something else alongside playing the games such as my own music, the television or Youtube videos.

Down to the basics, the most important thing to know about me is that I don't curb my enthusiasm. I might come off as rude as a result but trust me, that is NEVER the intention.
If you don't like the way I sound calmly point out the problem out to me and I'll fix it.
