l don't think Fate is ever the place to go for comparisons let's be real. Especially when bringing non-standard class containers into the mix ((as they are pretty much always in alt timelines etc etc...)) that and they tend to super deviate from what's normally possible.

Further Fate stretches things preeeeeetty far from source most times. ((the 8 million genderbends, some justified others not, Gilgamesh's entire existence in Fate etc etc..))

Also a power could relate to sacrifice without needed to end in one's death you know? There's different kinds of sacrifice. 

And lastly, lt's been stated by Roosterteeth we have already seen his Semblance, we just might not be able to put our fingers on it yet. But he looks... preeeeetty alive to me so it can't be that.

I saw a video about Jaune's semblance being the same as Pyrrha's a little bit ago and it made some sense to me. I mean, Pyrrha unlocked his Aura, in design they are the only major characters with armor. their weaponry is similar. to back this up, they stated we have seen it, but I don;t think they stated that he had used it (haven't read/ heard it myself so don;t light me on fire if I'm wrong). And for those saying "It's a shield/major healing, you moron!", allow me to quote Pyrrha: "I just unlocked your Aura. You have a lot of it.". So what is stopping Jaune's aura from being a bit stronger in defense and healing because he has a lot?
