  1. Is there any particular reason the two are so divided? I've heard rumors of one side accepting the other from time to time but I don't understand the divide in the first place Is it because card effect is so critical and can't be verified without the internet?
  2. I did a bit of research into Black Luster Soldier and it turns out a lot of the decks featuring him revolved around Envoy of the Beginning Last time I checked that righteous nightmare was banned but apparently it's been allowed back in and is now limited (I'm assuming to 1 card) See for yourself: I feel that I can't really find out any more about the build until I play with it so I'm going to look into getting YGOPro Like 70% sure one of my friends has it so I'll ask him to send it over skype but if he's deleted it or something I might hit you up BlueMoon
  3. The article was kind of sus It reframed some of Matsuda's responses like when they said his opinions on content went "beyond fan games" and applied to "fan art, too" I feel like for a game development company, wouldn't fan art be a comparatively smaller area of interest? If they were truly encouraging fan works in their franchise, wouldn't they lean more towards encouragement of fan games than fan art? The order of Matsuda's responses and the way he prioritizes the vague subject of "creating things" indicates that he might have been taking a more patronizing stance Just saying I think they might have confused Matsuda's general encouragement of creativity in youth with a promotion of fan games He didn't mention Uranium at all, and the best they could do was tie it to a single tweet sent to GameFreak's PR account Kotaku is shady
  4. That's actually a fascinating system for Ra, but it is gimmicky. Strange how across so many metagames, characters/cards/monsters with lesser overall options/strength come to rely on one or two gimmicks... And good points about Slifer, I didn't consider the contrast between the changing state of your hand vs. opponents field. That really kind of undermines Slifer, but like you said I guess you just have to get him out fast and protect him while you build up your hand again. You'd probably want to rely more on in-hand quick play spell cards to activate after BP
  5. I agree on Ra being the weakest. The idea of drawing on Life Points and using it as a sort of destructive currency was very cool, but there were three gaping weaknesses: - Other 3-tribute cards like Great Maju Garzett or The Wicked Avatar could equal Ra's ATK/DEF easily at no cost to the user's life points - Ra's only effect after being summoned (an act that would presumably draw at least half of your LP) required more LP to activate - If Ra dies, there go all your life points l0l - Direct LP damage cards like Ookazi meant certain death The gap between Ra and Slifer is much bigger than the gap between Slifer and Obelisk. Slifer's tendency to come along later in the game coupled with ATK/DEF dependent on the hand size meant that with an appropriate deck build / playstyle it could be very intimidating. It also had the excellent effect of destroying any of the opponent's weak (<2000 ATK) normal or special summoned monsters which really threw a wrench in their capacity to tribute summon And yeah Obelisk is just a beast, kind of makes sense why he's considered the king of the trilogy
  6. mde is offline guys Lugruf for the 667th post
  7. Get ready for the return of the Back Alley Master then
  8. Did you just call me a gazelle boy Syd Matters - Obstacles
  9. I was talking about the tinted, original print ones (eg: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/The_Winged_Dragon_of_Ra_(original) ) I always liked the way that the back didn't have that gross Konami logo on it Honestly I would really like if they released some novelty cards with the simplistic designs featured in the anime (stars, ATK and DEF)
  10. Armalite because America If you were given the chance to go to the year 2116 on the condition that you stay there for 2 years and reappear in 2018, would you do it
  11. Today I'll look into some Black Luster builds and see if I can't produce a decent deck around him Did you guys ever have/see those limited edition Egyptian God cards?
  12. I have not watched any of the anime in sub EXCEPT for Season Zero Which had even less to do with the current metagame than any of the seasons that followed it but it was so good Atem actually tortured people instead of just beating them in a card game and lecturing them about the value of friendship, and and Anzu (later Tea) almost got mauled by a tiger It felt almost like a PG Death Note and I highly recommend I could see myself watching 5Ds and later in sub no problem but Original and GX would probably throw me off

    91 Days

Yes! There was a definite Baccano vibe, and I absolutely love anime set in early 20th century US It was simultaneously less gory and more realistic/mature, despite Hollywood's tendency to assert those two as directly related The intro theme wasn't quite as good as Baccano's but it held its own at a 7 or 8 out of 10 (my entire perception of OP themes has been reframed after the unfortunate mess that was Death Note Part 2).
  14. Awesome, I might take you up on the YGOPro offer later I did actually hear of Red Eyes getting a ton of new support as well and I will be looking into it What is your favorite card? Also Is Dungeon Dice Monsters a playable thing yet?
  15. I recently finished the mafia anime 91 Days and highly recommend it to anyone curious Its last episode came out just a few weeks ago, so it's very recent but prime for someone who dislikes awaiting serial releases I'd give it a 3.5/5 stars overall, with its real strength lying in character development and twists Has anyone else begun or finished watching it? The ending was especially fascinating and open, so if enough people have finished the season I'll clamp a spoilers tag on the title and we can get down to interpretation
  16. Yes Queenie is a personal favorite and I have designated her as my signature card Synchros were sick and so was 5Ds when a sufficient suspension of disbelief was applied Yusei was a welcome exception to the overly energetic protagonist that has become a standard since Jaden wrought his teenage Slifer apocalypse Then they tried to make him edgy in one of the later arcs and euggheguh My excuse for not getting into more advanced sets like XYZ and Cyber Dragon and XYZ Cyber Dragon is that they're broken garbage I'm a big fan of earlier cards that fell out of viability For a good amount of time I lurked on dueling network and ran a Red-Eyes Black Dragon deck It was largely dependent on effect monsters and tribute summons (RE Metal Dragon, RE Zombie Dragon, RE Darkness Dragon) I don't have the spread anymore because the site got busted but I could probably recreate it if I was given a program Do you run a program for online fighting? A few years ago I had a client for my computer but I forget its name
  17. Djinn (Vaporeon) (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Hydration Shiny: Yes EVs: 252 HP / 128 SpA / 128 SpD Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Rain Dance - Hydro Pump / Surf - Ice Beam - Rest A personal favorite semi-troll solo team for OU I love solo teams so much Basically Rain Dance + Rest + Hydration Ability turns Vaporeon into a tank Obvious downsides include: - Perish Song and Destiny Bond kills - Bad RNG on the rain, leading to sleep vulnerability (you can use damp rock but we're really playing the long game here) - Running out of PP from stalling (hydro pump lends itself to this issue) - Many others However I have defeated entire teams with this before, including an Ubers team three years ago
  18. Of specialized monster types (Ritual, Synchro, XYZ, etc.) do you guys have any personal favorite leanings? IMO Ritual is underrated (Black Luster Soldier being a personal favorite) and Fusion is chronically overused Side note I'm looking to get more into the metagame (I'm about a level 5 on a 1-10 depth scale I'd say) so please school me on terminology/vocab when possible
  19. You can never have enough arms Just ask doctor octopus He's probably really good at massages and laundry when he's not building hydrogen reactors Who is best girl?
  20. I got a more Regigigas vibe from Garon but all the others are pretty much on point Arceus as Corrin is especially appropriate
