  1. Back to plot speculation for a minute: I just noticed something as I played through Reborn again. There's an old lady across from Adrienn's Gym who talks about said gym. Here's her ad verbatim dialogue: If this old lady is anything to go off of, then y'all might be wrong about us fighting Adrienn in E16... PS: I also noticed the sign in front of Julia's gym for the first time...something along the lines of "hours of operation depend on how much coffee you bring." I lol'd at that.
  2. Without knowing the specs of your computer, as well as your usage habits, I can't tell you what's wrong with the computer. I run Windows 10 and the game works fine (2.1 GHz Intel i3-5015U processor though). If you hit F1 in Reborn you can uncheck "smooth mode" to make the game a bit less demanding on your computer - have you tried that?

  4. The finished plot's in a text file? ...is it by chance labelled DontReadme.txt? Sorry, I'll see myself out now.
  5. Kanto: Charmander, because fire type Johto: Cyndaquil, because fire type Hoenn: Torchic, because fire type Sinnoh: Chimchar, because fire type Unova: Tepig, because fire type Kalos: Fennekin, because fire type
  6. In the Episode Status Discussion threads, a lot of people (including myself) speculate on the plots of future releases. Out of the devs who are in the know, I'm curious to know if anybody's ever guessed something right about the plot, but you couldn't say it at the time? Or are people usually just way off and uninformed haha.
  7. ^ That's why lol. Blaziken is one of my favourites but this is supposed to be a tough run. Besides, my goal is a Trick Room fire team so Speed Boost wouldn't do me any favours.
  8. Chapter 2: Two Ferns, Two Monfernos My log: Responses to other comments:
  9. So I'm doing a mono fire run. These are the rules I'm imposing on myself: As a general rule, I only fight with fire Pokemon I can temporarily raise a non-fire Pokemon for breeding purposes (ie. to obtain a breedable an egg move) but cannot use it on important fights From post-Julia onwards, Numel/Camerupt is my ace and must be in my party at all times (Trick Room is going to be my best friend eventually) EDIT: I'll probably need a Water pokemon for Surf, Dive and Waterfall. IT WILL ONLY BE AN HM SLAVE THOUGH. As of now I've already beat Julia, and from this point on I'll be logging my progress after each gym. Chapter 1: Kaboom! Team: Monferno, Pansear I'm probably not going to put a strong effort into the story aspect of this log. Suffice it to say I'm a wildfire expert from a region north of Reborn (really, this isn't a stretch from IRL me). I chose Chimchar as my starter, and got a female one. Before I fight Flo I plan to breed Chimchar with a Purrloin to obtain a Chimchar with Fake Out. This move will matter to my team later on, namely in double battles when setting up Trick Room. I also rescued Pansear, just so I could have another fire pokemon in my team. Pansear will probably not be on my team for very long. I fought Fern and my fire types roasted his grass types with ease. Julia was the first interesting fight. I went into it with Monferno and Pansear, both level 18. Had to reset twice, but in the winning fight I lead with Monferno and used mach punch to one-shot Helioptile. Pansear fought the Emogla and two Voltorbs, as its typing wasn't prone to Acrobatics and Incinerate wasn't prone to the Voltorbs' Aftermath. Monferno two-shotted the Blitzle, and then Pansear and Monferno both chipped in to take down the Electrode. ...that was it for the first badge. The next logs will obviously be more eventful.
  10. But is it the soul or the soul's fortune that's being taken?
  11. Ugh...Shade annoys me. Anyways, once again my (simplistic) take on things: SHADE: Four screens foretold four souls' fortune forsaken, For, forsooth, from foreshadowed, only two [souls] will be taken. All that means is that the four screens foretell bad things happening to four people, but only two screens foretell people actually dying. (Soul taken = soul dying). Nothing more, nothing less. The screens are all true predictions, we were just wrong to assume they all lead to deaths.
  12. We know gym leaders are ranked in Reborn because Charlotte initially refuses to fight you citing her rank, and Julia mentions at the end of E15 that she's the first leader for most of the league's challengers. (Also, they were ranked in the online Reborn League). My impression is gym leaders simply need to have, at a minimum, a team that can defend their rank - but that's not to say some leaders can't also have Pokemon that exceed their rank. In Corey's case, he probably only met the minimum requirement. He only became a poison expert because of his confrontation with Sirius anyways. However some leaders, like Julia and Florina, are obviously stronger than their Gym rank but, for whatever reason, they choose to fight official matches at a lower level. They could easily have more than one Electrode or Cradily in their overall collection. We know that experienced trainers sometimes like to "start over" with weaker Pokemon - Cain and Victoria being two examples. In fact, it's implied in-game that the protagonist was previously a strong trainer from another region before coming to Reborn. With level caps in place in Reborn, gym matches with lower level Pokemon aren't any less respectable than those with strong Pokemon because it all boils down to strategy. On the other hand, confrontations with Meteor are all about business, so leaders like Julia and Flo aren't going to mess around.
  13. Well, only Ame can truly clarify what's what. However, Corey was under the tight control of Team Meteor, so he probably didn't have access to stronger Pokemon. Also, in the route where you rescue all the officers, he does release a metric ton of poisonous gas into the air you breath.
  14. Sirius's levels are probably more a reflection of the game's mechanics than the plot itself; if your mons are only in their 50s (or whatever they were at the time) it hardly makes sense to fight Sirius with a level 80 team. That said, he strikes me as being more of a shifty, manipulative opportunist than a strong fighter. It has been made clear he's not very fond of Solaris, so I doubt he'd report to Solaris if he was strong enough to defy him. You're right though to say he's been disadvantaged in both possible fights against him. I think the purpose of Corey being in the screen was so we, the players, could initially recognize that the screens were referring to characters we'd meet. Speculating on Shades use of "foretold" is likely just an error in semantics. Worth noting, however, is there are actually FIVE screens in Shades gym; the fifth one in Rotom's room has Sigmund in it (as well as Corey again).
  15. So this has to break rules to work, but: Mega Ditto Type: Normal Ability: Perfect Cell (Ditto transforms into its foe, then gains a 30% boost to all stats except HP) HP: 48 Atk: 48 Def: 48 SpA: 48 SpD: 48 Spe: 48 So the idea here is that a 100 point increase in anything other than HP wouldn't help Ditto (and allowing 148 HP would be broken), so instead, Mega Ditto gets to mega evolve into a superior copy of its target. The ability "Perfect Cell" is very similar to Huge Power, but applies a 1.3 gain to all stats except HP. Therefore: Mega Ditto retains its pre-mega base HP of 48 Mega Ditto copies its opponent's other stats AND multiplies them by 1.3. In battle, Mega Ditto can either be a massive threat or massive liability depending on how it's used: Strengths: Mega Ditto is more reliable than regular Ditto thanks to its Def and SpD boosts Mega Ditto's speed boost eliminates its need to be choiced into one move If Mega Ditto's target is another Mega Pokemon, the opponent is gonna have a bad time Imagine if this is what El used against you in Reborn Weaknesses: As we already see with Mewtwo, you just can't mess with nature's design without consequence; Mega Ditto no longer benefits from its opponent's ability, as Perfect Cell replaces it. So, if Mega Ditto copies Mega Mawile for example, Mega Ditto loses out on Huge Power and actually sees a drop in offensive power. Ditto's mega evolution can be reversed through moves like Entrainment and Simple Beam, as they suppress what makes Mega Ditto "mega." Obviously, using Mega Ditto takes up the mega spot on your team. Appearance-wise, Mega Ditto (in its original form) looks like a halfway compromise between a proper Mew clone and a normal Ditto. (ICYMI, Dittos are failed Mew clones - that's canon. Mega Ditto would be a slightly less failed clone). When transformed, Mega Ditto still mimics its target's appearance, but it additionally emits a bright aura. Mega Ditto is the preliminary outcome of a research task force's renewed attempt at cloning Mew. Most scientists within the task force believe the project should only attempt to recreate Mew's original form. These scientists created Dittonite as a synthesized mega stone that helps stabilize Ditto's genetic structure. These scientists want to clone Mew because a "perfect" Mew would contain "perfect" DNA for every Pokemon in existence, thereby allowing science to synthetically breed every Pokemon in existence. This outcome would allow scientists to develop a program to perpetually restore populations of endangered Pokemon. This program would receive funding through the production and sales of IV-perfect Pokemon. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, however. Some scientists within the task force have an ulterior motive - they want to reinstate the research program that produced Mewtwo...
  16. It has always been my interpretation that Gym Leaders don't use their strongest Pokemon in official gym fights. Otherwise, Julia deserves a promotion ASAP Also, Amaria is just as feasible as Adrienn to be the E16 leader. Her gym is just an HM Fly away at this point, and historically gym fights have been in different locations than where the episode plots take place (ie. the pre-Luna plot is in 7th street but the gym is all the way over in the crystal valley).
  17. The save files aren't stored in the same folder as the game itself. This thread explains the process of retrieving old save files: http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18748&hl=%2Bfind+%2Bsave+%2Bfile
  18. You could just go back to a previous save file of your game and "redo" that area - Valor Mountain isn't very far off from the end of version 6 anyways.
  19. In E16 that will likely change. In E14, level 75 was the cap and no 80 cap existed. The caps get added as the game becomes further developed. ^ This. ^ This too.
  20. "Impossible" was in quotes for a reason, albeit probably a poor choice of words in retrospect. I just think she'll be overpowered compared to us. In theory a PULSE Pokemon could also have whatever stats are needed to be "impossible" but, now that I think about this a bit more, maybe we just won't fight her this episode. I'd expect us to fight her before our cap is LV 100 though.
  21. ...you could be right. The idea's growing on me a bit now (although cheesy messages rarely inspire me). One way to find out, right? As an aside, I personally expect our first fight with Lin to be another "impossible" fight.
  22. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
  23. If it's no trouble, can I get in on this? - Infernape - Emboar - Delphox - Ninetails - (Mega) Camerupt - *Chandelure* (shiny / orange if possible) [no text necessary]
