    Today a speaker in one of my classes talked about their success in terms of how many cars they owned and people collectively applauded that. I felt like all of the passion I had for what I was studying disappeared as I realized how not for me that kind of career is... now I'm having an existensial crisis with only a year and a half until graduation. Oh my god.

      No one said you had to spend your wealth on materialistic garbage like cars. You could use your wealth to fund volunteer organizations, or open one yourself if you want to be more hands-on.

      I know, it's just come to me that this is the culture I'm going to be working in. I have nothing against it but don't find it very good for me. It's just making me think about what I really want to do with myself, how I'm going to succeed in an industry that is ALL materialism. Idk.

      Those images are just links to the original image in whatever page you used to post them, so you should check if the images in the original page still exist or have been deleted

      It could be a non-hosted site. Or you might have the wrong link for the image. For instance, imgur links require an i.imgur link to appear on the forums.
