  4. Back when I played Ruby, I had a nightmare about Shuppet and have hated the little fucker since. I can't explain it but I hate it. Also, this is (mostly) not design wise, but gameplay wise. I hate just about every normal type Pokemon. They're useless, boring, and I hate them. I'm sure people can do fun things with normal types, but... they're all garbage to me. I personally have a bad time playing with them because I find them so damn boring.
  5. Personally it depends on what you're comparing. Fangames are a really mixed bag and quality varies widely, and I'd say a vast majority of fan games being developed are pretty bad compared to anything GF puts out. Not to mention all but a few games are unfinished. I would say the main points here are with story, and honestly I prefer the charm of the original games to anything a fan game has offered. I love the intricate plots fan games can provide, but at the end of the day the characters and plotlines in the official games what still stick with me. And I think the spin off games are a staple of great storytelling that I want to see more of: Explorers of Sky and Shadows of Almia have that great blend of the casual charm of the main series games and more crazy concepts fan games put out there. I think sometimes fan games just go way too far trying to be different than the main games and the tone is just really off. As much as I like Reborn, games like it using gritty realism paired with really cute and fun Pokemon are just tonally wrong. And one more thing to hit upon... Pokemon is meant for handhelds. As much as I love fangames, I always stop playing for long periods of time because the controls are so wonky, even using a gamepad. The official games just give you the best gameplay experience. So yeah, I think fan games can improve certain things but as an overall experience, the official games are much more memorable and wholesome.

Looks really cool imo, I wish you good luck with this game! 😉

  7. it's like 1/4460 or something like that
  8. Generally I agree with all of the issues presented. But I have a problem with some of the comments made here. I think people assume a lot when they hear 9 years of development means a lot for an independent developer. This is a hobby for the team, and those 9 years doesn't mean there was 9 years of constant development of the game. Things are constantly changed, scrapped, and redone. People take breaks for months and even years. I just don't see how someone can think "9 years for THIS?" when the game is just a fun little project for the devs. It's kind of insulting to assume the game is worth less because it tooks so long to come out. As someone who has followed the game for years, that development for the game as it is now hasn't really kicked off until 2014 or so. Before that was a comepletely different game with a completely different name, graphics, engine, etc. Just following Gav's work on deviantart, you can see that development changed drastically over the years. Development of a game isn't just getting from point A to point B. So many things happen along the way. This is also speaking as someone who has been working on a game since 2013. Despite technically developing it since then, I've restarted so many times and took breaks for so long. I would be really upset if I released the game and someone was disappointed in the quality purely because of how long it took me to release it. Basically, don't ever fault a project, especially, one done casually, as not being "worth" the time it took to produce. It's awful.
  9. I haven't had any errors either, but regardless there's a new version out. You have to redownload it, but after this one the updates should be automatic.
  10. Just playing initially, it is really beautiful. The dialogue and story is really nice as well. And the music? Damn. It's all amazing. When you guys all get further I'd love to see your teams.
  11. Lol, I get the feeling it's gonna be tough to get a fast download with all the hype surrounding it.
  12. It's releasing in an episode format, and Episode 1 will be 7-10 hours long.
  13. Since Phoenix Rising releases tomorrow I thought I'd make a thread so we can discuss it here. Here's the game info thread! What starter is everyone choosing? I think I'm going Staryu.
  14. 2 years ago I remade Floaroma Town to fit my fangame, where the player will start their journey. Here's the remake of the remake~

  16. I'm surprised that Gen 3 is ahead! I found that all of those starters have great pre-evolutions but their final evolutions are all awful design wise, imo. Ruby was my first game ever and I remember crying when my Grovyle evolved to Sceptile. Lol. That said, I think Gen 1 is the most solid all around but Gen 4 is my overall favorite. Emploeon and Infernape are just boss.
  17. My Ampharos in Heart Gold was the first legitimate one. Before that, my brother trained my Empoleon in Diamond up to lvl 100 for me because he lost a battle. I don't count that though.
  18. Bug type was so hard because I love all of them u_u
  19. a peek at the female player's school outfit (all of the beginning of the game is set at an academy)

  20. back at it with a finished map 😄  pls excuse the naked player character lol, it's just the customization base. here's a sneak peek

! I'd wondered what happened to you. I hope you've been doing well.

  22. worst thing ever: looking for decent stock sfx. ughhhhh.

  23. Basically the system will involve winning people over that you might not get along with, and getting sidequests with those characters as well. Some events might vary if you have a strong relationship (good or bad) with a person involved. And of course, you will get dialogue changes for characters as well when you make normal conversation with them. As far as romance goes, I have been considering it. I like the idea but would have to fit in the narrative of the story and not turn people who aren't interested in that away. What is likely to happen is that it won't go farther than some hints. Not sure yet!
  24. is there no way to turn off the snow? it makes the site lag for some reason.

Unfortunately there is no way to turn it off via the website (I think some people have found a way to block it but I'm not sure how)

Ah, okay. I'll look into it.

  25. Quick update, the news with Pokemon Prism really freaked me out and I am super afraid to release anything atm in case it takes off somehow. I'll probably release after all of the SuMo freshness is gone and the Pokemon hype dies. Regardless, I'm in the process of finishing up alpha testing and moving on to beta. PM me if you're interested in receiving a copy. Testing right now puts playtime at 2 hours. Not what I wanted, but good enough for now! Will also be updating the first post soon!
