On my second playthrough and there is only one negative thing I have to say. My first playthrough was in classic mode (regular exp gain) and I found the grind for levels really hard as there are no trainer rematches and the wild pokes are pretty low level compared to the trainers so gaining levels takes a long time. On my current playthrough I then decided to use modern mode (every team member gains exp after battle) and now the game is too easy, just finished the 6th gym and my team was like 5 levels over the gym leader. Being able to switch modes would really help but afaik that's not possible, but some balancing would be really nice.

So modern mode it's just like the actual games in that it makes it too easy? Lol. But yeah they should probably balance it more.

Honestly I don't feel classic mode was that bad after the 4th gym leader once you get the lucky egg(in fact I found it pretty easy to grind once you hit the ghost town), but before that it's kind of tough to raise up low level mons.

  2. Shelly is difficult yeah and unlike others who got nerfed over versions she's still plenty tough.

I think Titania and Charlotte are other fair choices. Terra can be annoying too sometimes, her claydol's bulk is unholy, swagsire is some nonsense and Garchomp as usual is a total PITA. Also Excakill is always a problem.

While he's not super terrible as a whole, Samson's Hawlucha is bullshit blazing ever since the seeds were put into the game. Almost feels like he's guaranteed to KO one of your pokemon.

  3. I think part of what makes Flareon bad is more that he's squishy AND slow which is not a good combination. He's supposed to be a "mage killer" evident by his high special defense and high attack(since a lot of special attackers lack in defense) but his movepool can't take advantage of that too well without hurting himself in the process and he's too slow, plus his poor HP kinda offsets his good special defense.  A lot of eeveelutions have poor movepools to be fair though.

Like once upon a time people said all he needs is flare blitz and he'll be a beast! then he got flare blitz but he's still not great so it's more than just a "hurt things more" issue going on with Flareon. I think his crest should make him faster for starters. He's just way too slow.

If there isn't any eevelution crests in v13. I'll be sad :(
Looking forward to the update though.

Flareon doesn't have a crest yet? I can totally see him getting one especially since it's Huey's ace.

  5. I was geeking out at the dlc. Though admittedly I found the whole DLC BATTLE PASS stuff a bit unnecessary(and I feel like it could get Weedle in legal trouble if it gave implication of making money which it's not) but I understand it's done to mimic the actual games and how dlc would be announced. I just hope the additional stuff adds E4 rematches too.

I'm curious about the other project Weedle has in store. Honestly I feel they're good enough to able to do something of their own IP and actually profit off it you know?

I wrote in the previous page my feelings about Uranium/Insurgance. TL;DR they were dissapointing. The main reason was because of the hype they have (being ranked above reborn in most sites). Insurgance actually pisses me off cause it has so much wasted potential.

    I'll check Xenoverse/daybreak/empire. thanks

Edit: just saw the trailer for Xennoverse and it looks really good

I don't think I've  seen Uranium ranked above Reborn too much personally. I can see it being ranked higher by some because it's not as edgy(being a bit closer in tone to the actual games) and it's much easier, so it's not as frustrating, but personally as someone who liked both Reborn is definitely better. Insurgence is overrated to some degree I'll admit but I still think it's fine on its own merits, and while I never played Zeta/Omicron it seems like a vast improvement off what those two built(it was from the same dudes). Plus you do have to give Insurgence credit for being meaty and actually complete, something few fangames can claim lol. But I do get not liking Insurgence because like you said, it does have some wasted potential.

Also pet peeve of mine but I don't like when NPCs use revives, especially since I don't even like using revives mid-battle myself. This was kind of annoying about Insurgence and Daybreak unfortunately does it too, in fact it's even WORSE about it if you can believe it. If I'm being honest of all the games I listed Daybreak would be the one I'd recommend least,  but if you want you can still check it out.  I think my favorite thing about Daybreak is that the rival's encounter theme is Bloody Stream lol.

I actually have beaten the game today (well, the V12 of the game), though it did took a bit to defeat Ryland. Now I can complete some battles and sidequests, and most importantly, hatch a new team with perfect IVs, though I'm a bit sad to say goodbye to my old team, but it is what it is.

Congrats on beating it.  Ryland gave me a tough time mainly because of Excadrill and Torterra

Is Xenoverse any good? ive been wondering if i should play it...

It's one of the best pokemon fangames I've played, DEFINITELY recommend.

Also it's a CRIME Equinox Village's music isn't on youtube. One of the few tracks not uploaded and I wonder why? It's beautiful.

Speaking of beautiful, I love Dragalisk's battle theme. It reminds me of Megaman X4-5 a bit during the piano part at 1:22

I think Trishout is my favorite starter of the 3.

    Spoiler

I like its 2nd form more than the 3rd one design wise, as I think its 3rd form is the least appealing of the 3 starters. But its final form is easily the coolest and a beast too.

Gonna give a +1 to desolation as well. Personally I think it has the most interesting plotline out of the 3

Yeah I'd agree with this as well. However I do feel like it's not balanced quite as well as Reborn and Rejuv were in the early game. Charles is a real difficulty spike for so early on and Adrienne is really difficult for that point of the game too. It does smooth out afterwards at least.

For fangames not of the Reborn family, I'd recommend Xenoverse. It's excellent and has the best art direction of any fangame I've played honestly. A lot of the NPC art could pass for official art and it comes closer to capturing the aesthetic of the actual games more than any other fangame.  The fakemon designs are mostly quite good and it's got a charming cast of characters, plus a great soundtrack. It's not as hard as Reborn's family but still has challenging moments, especially for the first 3rd or so of the game. It does get a lot easier lategame I feel. This is probably my favorite fangame not of the Reborn-trilogy. Its maingame is finished with some of the postgame finished but I think there's still a few things we can't get so I'm not sure the exact status of it.

Uranium's fakemons are...dated somewhat and kinda jank-looking(some of the animations/designs are quite good at least) tbh but the game itself is still solid and one of the better fangames. I think the soundtrack for it good too and the story isn't too bad but takes time to get good. I did like the nuclear thing, that was cool. The postgame was never completed for this one but the main game is done. I had fun with it.

Insurgence is fun with all the deltas and how the game gives the player a lot to play with so you're never stuck in pokemon poverty with lousy mons like say early game Reborn but the story/writing is....not great? It's not bad and has its moments but it's not why you play Insurgence lol. Some of the music is cool(dat Nyx theme), but not the wild battle theme. The wild battle theme was so bad I actually had to replace it just to get through the game. I thought something was wrong with the game when I first heard it lol. Also it repeats the same 3-4 town music for every town which gets old. It's weird because the cult leaders have so much effort put into their music but then the towns and some other themes feels rather lacking in comparison. It's a real shame.

The only other ones I played were Daybreak and Empire which I just started. Empire is very weird but fresh in how it approaches the mechanics which makes it stand out.  It's not for everyone and I'd honestly only recommend it for more hardcore players because it's overwhelming otherwise with all its changes and field system. Plus it has some questionable design choices, some of which are very offputting. Kind of feels like a a love it or hate it game from what I played of it so far.. Daybreak I would recommend if you want to play a fangame that's not any of the above I guess?

Woohoo, I've defeated Rift Gardevoir! After giving my Sceptile a Magical seed, when activated, activates Trick Room, poisoning Gardevoir and my Tyrantrum being a g, I was able to defeat her. Now the hardest is gonna be in V13 with the return of Angie (WHY HAVE YOU RETURNED FROM WENCE YOU CAME).

OOOOOH NIIIIIICE!!!! I didn't even know the seed did that! That's amazing, great job.

But I think you're kinda underrating Ryland and Souta a bit. You might be good with souta because of Noivern but Ryland was tough IMO.

It's really no issue. It takes like 2 seconds to change. So it's nbd!

This will be changed in v13.

Huh thanks, cool this should make catching up low levels just a bit easier! Thanks Jan!

Those cardinals are arguably the dopest Elite 4 I ever fought. Do you know if there is a way to rematch the League ? Doesn't seem so unfortunately, which makes me absolutely gutted.

ATM no there isn't sadly. I really dug their Tapus and designs, ice girl was the trickiest for me actually. Man screw that ski mon lol.

according to the top of the troubleshooting page, the latest patch is 12.2. if you're still getting softlocked you should probably download that lol

Thanks I had no idea there was a patch. How on earth did I miss that.

  14. If you proceed as the MC too far without the others during the color switch puzzle, it'll give you the "wait for the others" message and then won't let you switch between them anymore, preventing you from progressing any further.

Rift Hippowdon is pretty hard for me, even in casual mode. Their base stats are insane, even if they’re 5 levels below me.

I just did this one for the first time and beat it first attempt. I had originally planned on using skuntank to poison it with toxic but I wasn't expecting a doubles battle nor was I expecting it to be poison type lol.  Instead I had dusknoir us curse on one then wait it out with krookadile and for the other it went with pain split from mismagius + passive burn damage from ren's  arcanine. Honestly it was one of the easier rift battles I thought. And unlike Ferrothorn hippowdon is quite slow.

Just don't use a Dark Type then..
I am sorry but it seems like unnecessary extra work for the dev team since you can just use something else like a Fighting Type which is way more suitable to defeat those Audinos anyway.

    You're missing the point.

The audino trainers are there mainly to help your pokemon catch up levels but this one particularly so as the audino don't even have attacking moves, they just spam healing wish. Since healing wish is a psychic move, the AI believes audino can't harm the opponent and thus switches into...another audino with only healing wish. So now you end up with the AI stuck in a  switch loop between the two. This is just mildly annoying but combined with regenerator it makes the battle drag out quite a bit to where it's pretty annoying, especially if your pokemon can't do a lot of damage. I don't even think the audino switching was to be intentional for this battle, but just a unique case of jank resulting from the AI system Rejuv uses.  Rather than change the AI   just making the ability healer for all 3 audino would at least remove the annoyance of them regenerating health everytime they switched.

  17. Hey suggestion but can you set the ability of the audino used by phillip on route 9 to NOT be regenerator? If you use a dark type he does nothing but switch between audino over and over which combined with regenerator can drag out the fight and actually sap all your PP even. It's rather annoying.

  18. Natural cure can be useful for this fight, since you'll spend half of it asleep lol.

If you have the TM for roar, someone in another thread said they used that to make gardevoir bugger off allowing them to take out her helpers first, making it easier to focus on her.

I know there's a move relearner in GCD's shopping district. If you can use the crystal to get back to the present, you can use the claydol at the oasis to teleport you back to GCD IIRC. I could be wrong though as I never tried it myself. But I think the claydol is supposed to be able to teleport you back into the city.

Can't you use energy ball for sceptile instead?

  19. Okay I don't blame you not wanting to grind axew up lol.

Hooo boy, I can see why you're sweating this fight. Is there any way you can get super fang back on your higher levelled Noivern? I feel like that can help with softening up the pokemon especially since they're fairly bulky. You could also just grind up the other one that already knows it but that's a lot of grinding. The audino trainer on route 9 is the fastest since they just spam healing wish but I'm not sure if you can go there at that point.

Does sky have cloud nine or natural cure? Also how come sceptile is so physical? Its special attack is much better.

  20. Yeah that fight is...hard. Being fairy messes up your offensive power and even then she's quite bulky. However I don't think she uses any actual fairy moves, since the field weakens them. She has dark pulse, sacred sword, dream eater and lovely kiss I believe.

Hmm who is your current lineup? Like levels and moves and such?

I'd recommend getting some chesto berries which I believe you can buy from someone in the past era, I remember I got like 20 of them. Sleep is super annoying in this fight and half the difficulty in itself.  In fact being able to deal with sleep somehow is a must for this fight IMO.

Her kirlia/ralts are extremely annoying and problematic with their sleep/night shade combo. The kirlia is fairy/fire and the ralts is fairy/poison IIRC. I paralyzed Gardevoir herself so we wouldn't get outsped as much which can help but since she takes so long to KO, you might want to use perish song and grind it out. Safeguard helps with fighting sleep if any of your dudes have that.

Also I know you can't EV Axew but between having him as dead weight and being fully evolved and at least somewhat useful, I'd take the latter.
