  1. I've... Very mixed feelings. You've a way with words, and they're woven nicely, but poetry, to me, is about conveying feeling. To that extent, the colors follow a nice theme, but I couldn't help but feel not every single color conveyed emotion correctly. While a few colors - Red being the best example - irradiated with feeling, with emotion, some didn't. For the case of colors like black, which represents an hollow emptiness, that's fine and even fitting. In fact, I believe in that particular color even the fact it feels "lacking" is a bonus to it: It feels lacking because it is. it's incomplete. Empty. Broken. While colors like Red and Black gave me this impression, the others felt like fillers. Like you were trying to tell a story, but you couldn't tell it in just two colors, so you had to add more. Only these other colors feel out of place. Like they don't belong, even when telling the same tale. ...But alas. All in all, the writing is solid and I like the way the poem is structured; Despite it's shortcomings, it's still a good read.
  2. (( Mood music: )) As you approach the dock, you can't help but notice Iain, Asgall and his crew seem to have arrived hours before you did. Despite the task ahead, an air of merriment surrounds the harbor, the air being filled with the shanties of Asgall's crew as they work the boats into shape. As Iain notices your approach, he smiles at you and beckons you to approach him and Asgall. "Good! Good! You're here. We've been waiting for you." He motions to the boats. "We're nearly ready for set off. When it's time, we will explain the plan in more detail in each of our ships. It's imperative we set sail as quickly as we can." With this, he nods towards the smaller boat of the two, seemingly ready, with the final crates of supply being loaded into it. "Go and help with the supplies. Once we're all ready, me and Asgall will call everyone to their respective ships." With a wave of his hand, Iain dismisses you, and resumes his discussion with Asgall. (( I know it's taken me too long to write such a short post, but writer's block's been hitting me hard. Sorry! ))
  3. (( Sorry guys, I've had the bad combination of feeling really lazy and writer's block this week. But here it is! )) New to the Gaelach Basm series? Start here! Introduction Welcome to Gaelach Basm: Deahman Scail. Who's who? Currently waiting on: Red's Charizard
  4. ^ The world is a better place now that I know this exists Also welcome. I guess.
  5. Sorry for the delay in posting the Iain/Asgall topic, I seem to be suffering from writer's block. Hopefully I'll come up with something tomorrow though.
  6. (( Note to self: If you try to make two threads at once, the forum randomly chooses one not to post, and you have to rewrite your OOC entirely. So save the text somewhere. )) New to the Gaelach Basm series? Start here! Introduction Welcome to Gaelach Basm: Deahman Scail. Who's who? Currently waiting on: Hukuna Finkeltinklewinkle
  7. (( Mood music: )) Ailios peered at the midday sun with a frown. She waited in the center of the small village for the members of her crew to gather, so they could begin their journey to Eachann, the first stop in their adventure. She leaned boredly against her staff, occasionaly bringing her gaze down to see if any of them had yet to join her. After scanning her surroundings briefly, her gaze returns to the sky, the sorceress being locked deeply in thought. Soon, one after the other, the members of her group gather around her, and after she takes a brief moment to examine each, she nods at them. "We are all here. Good." She gestures for the carriage parked not far from where they were, near one of the villlage's exits. "Our first task is to go to Eachann and report the results of the briefing with Duke Byrne. Hopefully, we can convince him to give us an escort to assist our journey; At worst, he'll give us much-needed supplies." She offers you all a small nod, then heaves herself off her staff and points toward the carriage with it's tip. "Well then! Shall we?"
  8. Iain glared for a second at Kryst. "I'd worry more about surviving than I would about people's opinions." With this, Iain stood, raising his voice to address all present. "It seems there was little conclusion reached. Very well; Based on the opinions of the few who cared to voice them, Ailios will be staying in Éire, and I will be leaving for Sigeto. Asgall and his team will be distracting the Leviathan, and then scout the surrounding isles to try and find a way to defeat him. There is little point in saying anything else, and there is little else to be said. Those in Ailios team, you will leave the tavern tomorrow at midday. The rest, be at the port at dawn. You are dismissed." With a wave o his hand, Iain motions for you all to leave, moments later resuming his previous discussion with Asgall and Ailios. And with this, Gaelach Basm: The starting point is over! Yay! Good form, everyone, we're done here. ...Well, not quite. The story will continue in two threads, which I'll be making today or tomorrow - One for Ailios' party, entitled Gaelach Basm: Deahman Scail and the other for Asgall's (and momentarily, Iain's) party called Gaelach Basm: Kal' Enendral I'll see you there! PS: Since this RP is technically over, I'd ask this forum to be locked so no more replies can be made. Danka!
  9. What a willfull introduction! I can see you're the willed sort, Will. Will you be staying with us for long, I wonder?
  10. As a heads up, the decision for party objectives ends tomorrow, so decide things people!
  11. Iain peers at Karn for a moment. "I thought I had explained this? I'm sorry. We will use Asgall's larger ship as a distraction, while the smaller ship with the Sigeto crew moves through the outskirts of the Merzongeri sea. It's a proven concept that should work. As for your other inquiries... I'm... Pretty sure I directly stated that we were going to kill his liutenants before confronting him. I start to wonder if you were paying attention, ser." His gaze turns into a slight glare, but softens afterwards. "But your suggestion to examine all abilities is a valid one, which I hope your companions will share. Get to it, then."
  12. Just because he's not a panda doesn't mean I can't treat him like one.
  13. Since I don't want useless posts in the character profile thread, I'll just say here that both characters have been approved. Don't be discouraged if you want to roll more characters, however! They'll join as soon as they're able to. Plus knowing you have more characters to play with won't make me feel as bad for your sudden but inevitable demise
  14. Welcome. Would you like some bamboo? I'm sure we have some laying around somewhere.
  15. Anywhere around one to one million. It'll depend on the current size of the party. And the checkpoint itself.
  16. With this, the final decision is reached! These are the parties, listed as a much appreciated courtesy from sir Yash, lord of Sleep, himself: Asgall Ailos Iain Roland Charleson Silef Asterflux Karn Jael Wintershed Zix Mayanna Colbez Richter Belmont Ayak Tanahmas Kryst Blare Ayla Dorian Mcallister Raven Capashen And now we have until the 7th of january to reach the next decision. Any who may wish to play more than one character or adopt Ayla or Wintershed in case they do not return by then are also welcome to contact me via private messaging. Carry on, citizens.
  17. (( Mood music: I wonder how long I'll be able to keep finding these. The party-break is over. While turn order should normally be restored, in this case it will not, for we are now in a world-break. To those who are unaware, the OOC has a listing of how each of these affects the storyline. The world-break will end when universal agreement is reached, or in the 7th of january, when a final response will either be given from or for you.)) With a heavy slap on the table, Iain stands. "Enough. I have heard your opinions and I have reached my decision. And it is final." "First, accompanying me will be lords Revan, Kryst and Karn, as well as milady Colbez. Wintershed, Ritcher, Roland and Ayla will accompany Asgall. The remaining four will accompany Ailios. Now that that is out of the way, I hope we can move to more pressing matters, and I hope you can leave your own childish preferences aside and pay attention to what I have to say". Clearly, the group's previous inability to follow the Lord's command from the start hasn't done well to improve his mood. "Now that we know who, it is a matter of where. And this is important, so heed me well. I feel there's no need to say this, as I'm sure any of you could reach this conclusion with a moment's thought, but I will state so nevertheless: Politics will win this battle as much as any sharp blade will. It is this aspect that we must consider as we decide which group will take on which task, To broaden your views on this, we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each group at length." Iain straightens himself, his tone carrying a note of arrogant pride as he continues. "Needless to say, out of all three of us, I have the most political pull in Éire; I'm nobility, and doubtless to say I'd find shelter in any if not all noble houses of Eilne, perhaps even acquire aid from the king himself in Danu if I were to play my cards right. I would begin by going to my hometown of Eachann and asking my father, Duke Byrne, for support. I will admit: The recent increase in the vampire attacks has left my father paranoid, especially since the leader of his guard - me - is leaving on this expedition. Regardless, I've no doubt I'd be able to convince him to give us aid. If I were to go to Sigeto, as envoy of the King, I've little doubt that I'd be able to request assistance from the king of Vechul, assuming the kingdom still stands. More importantly, Prince Marko and I are acquaintances, and I'm sure he would be more than glad to give me aid. Lastly, if I were to be assigned to slay the Leviathan... Well; I admitedly have little knowledge on how to sail a boat, but I presume my ability controlling the winds may allow me to outspeed the creature and outmaneuver it. While most of the islands in the Merzongeri sea are home to scoundrels, I'm sure I could convince some to help with the offer of a pardon from the Crown. I do believe that's the most important ways in which I can benefit each objective. Ailios, if you'd follow, please?" With a motion of his hand, Iain sits, and the sorceress stands up. "In regards to Éire, being a close friend of Iain, I may be able to convince Duke Byrne to give me assistance, but it is unlikely any of the other noble houses would be willing to lend me aid. However, I have pull with the sorceresses, and little doubt that my own would lend us their magic if need be. In Sigeto... While I've little contact with them before, I've heard the Hexers and Gypsies regard the Sorceresses as equals, so it is possible I would gain their help. As Enjoy of the King I likely wouldn't do much good, to be honest, But I'm sure with the letter the King gave us, I'd at least be able to gain a little help... The most noteworth thing of Sigeto, to me, would be the ruins. Even before the Eclipse, talk of the magical ruins that populate Sigeto have gone far and wide. Those ruins were usually heavily guarded and no one was allowed in for fear of misuse, but with the werewolf attack there's bound to be some left unprotected. Werewolves have no history of worrying about magic, so I think it's safe to believe the relics those ruins protect are still there. My hope is that I can find and harness the magical artifacts. As for the Leviathan... The beast has been known to use sight to locate itself, an unique trait among sea creatures of it's size. We've known this because it always seems to attack ships and boats only, never once harming any sea creatures that come to pass, even thought it distinctively attacks humans when they are swimming nearby. The creature is only semi-sentient, however, as there is a record from one of the first expedition in which an unmanned ship was chained to an actual one and during a storm it was released on it's own. The Leviathan instinctively went against the larger ship without a crew, that moved solely due to the storm that surrounded it, and allowed the other ship to move away to safety. Due to this, I believe I can use my illusion powers to create one or several ships surrounding ours, which could be used to aid our escape and perhaps even allow us to confuse the creature enough for it to reveal a weakness we can exploit." The woman stays silent in reflection for a moment, then awkwardly scratches the back of her head, throwing a nervous glance to Iain. "I... Think that's it, really. I don't have much more pull around here." With this, she sits down, and the pirate Asgall clears his throat without bothering to move from his position, leaning as far back with his chair as he could with his feet resting atop the table with the world's map. "I ain' got time for dandy noblemen and I ain' about to go askin' any witches for help, but ye listen and ye listen good. I've acquaintances where it matters.Smugglers, thieves, spies, you name it, i know 'em. I doubt any royal scouts have as much intel as I can get on the land, an' better yet: I know the best mercs around, and most owe me a debt or two. Hit any tavern in Eilne and I'm sure the name "Asgall" is sung with praise! The same holds true for Sigeto. I've smuggled more people to safety there than I can count and I'm sure the survivors will be more than glad to lay their lives on the line for me. Like I said, I could care less 'bout the aid of some fancy-pants king or duke or prince or what-have-you, or about the mystical treasures in the mystical ruins of the mystical people. Bah! But plunder, lads, that is another matter altogether. Aye. Plunder is what will win this war, the clink of a coin raises an army much faster than the sound of a war bell. As for the Leviathan, the best answer is a fleet. I know the scoundrels of these isles an' it ain' a king's pardon that'll get their asses moving, no siree... But the promise of the aforementioned treasure. I know of a few places we could search, I reckon, across the sea. Underwater caves, unpopulated islands, that sorta thing. It don' matter, really. I'll keep this short: My plan, wherever we may go, is to gather the money, raise the army, kick the arse, and get it over with. Quick, simple an' effective." With a small sigh, Iain nods and stands again. "And there you have it. Analyze what we've said, and bring us your suggestions. And I do hope you prove yourselves capable of putting your own interests aside for this decision; 'Tis the most important one." With another wave of his hand, Iain seemingly motions for you to continue your discussions, and sits back down in his chair. Attention remains fixed in the three leaders as they discuss among themselves for a moment, but quickly it turns elsewhere. There's a decision to be made, and it rests on your shoulders to decide who is the best choice for each mission, (( I'll place this here to make this clear... I realize some of the choices may seem obvious, but don't think I'm trying to steer things my way. While these choices directly affect the chances of success for each particular party, they don't set success or failure in stone. In fact, keep in mind none of these characters can see the future, and things can go both better and worse than they imagine. ))
  18. I know this is a double post, but regardless, 'tis a needed announcement. In ten hours' time, the parties will be set in stone. At that point, there is only one last thing to do in Starting Point, and each party will be moving on to it's own thread. If the players of Ayla and Wintershed have not returned by the time all decisions have been made and it's time for their team to go on their merry way, two new characters will be allowed/needed to join to properly continue. Keep in mind there's nothing against a player having several characters in one or multiple parties. So for those in the other parties, if you want to join up, you're free to.
  19. We may put WIntershed and Ayla for adoption if their parents don't show up soon.
  20. Silver does not deal more damage to them. In fact, none of their "common" weaknesses (such as holy water or garlic for vampires) are applicable; Rather, they're more along the lines of humans with a highly contagious disease. As in, they are not supernatural creatures. They're still human, and will die like any other human would. Only they have a couple of superhuman abilities (much like yourselves) Completely irrelevant side-note: 100th post ayyyyy
  21. Well, I've no say in that so you guys just do whatever you want on that end.
