1. Prog/core metal, with a hint of neo-classical. The album really surprised me, considering that their earlier stuff either completely sucked or was genericy blah. Their latest album is amazing, though.
  2. Between the Buried and Me - The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues Protest the Hero - Scurrilous The Human Abstract - Digital Veil
  3. Linux/Jumanji (Webkit-based). Started happening the same time all the other site weirdness happened: Quoting/editing posts have broken HTML; linebreaks often don't work; Collapse button for the sidebar disappeared ... about a week ago? Same issues with other Webkit browsers (Luakit and uzbl), although everything seems to work fine using Chrome. So I thought it would be a cookie/cache problem. Cleared both of those with no luck. IPB Admin thingy doesn't show any errors anywhere that I could find. The spoiler tags on MP are working properly ... so I'm out of ideas on what to do.
  4.
why does he host, but does not really participate? what is in this arrangement for the nyumeister?
I like hosting things. I think I'm also hosting a minecraft and shoutcast server which nobody ever uses.
  5. Mission: Attempt to delete any personal information I might have left somewhere on the internet.
  6. There was, but it hasn't existed now for a while, I'll work on getting that set up again.
  7. Aww, I was afraid of that happening, but I suppose 'twas to be expected, considering that the server told me that it couldn't connect to the registry when it first started... Edit: Kay, so it appears to be back on... Admins if this happens in the future use the command /registry, and if that doesn't fix it then the server will have to be restarted...
  8.
[...] because a new category in the store needs to be created for them Edit-edit: However, they are not yet equippable, I believe... And even so, the store displays them in front of the manequin rather than behind... It'll all be fixed soon, no worries, I promise! >.<
Fixed and fixed. Entire equip process has changed, so now you're free to equip anythings in any order you feel like doing so. The only requirement is that you have to choose the base/pose thing at some point, so no ghost-people sprites.
  9. I should have realized before volunteering to judge that I have no idea who any of these characters are ... ah well, I think I had everyone figured out by the end. I vote Doctor Octagonapus' for being short, captiony, and potentially killing everyone.

    Anime/Manga

Kay, since Icey reminded me to finally post here. My anime tastes are unfortunately really narrowed and I tend to restrict myself even further. With very few exceptions, I refuse to watch anything longer than 26 episodes, and much prefer 13 episode things to anything else. In terms of genre, I've yet to really enjoy anything slice-of-life/comedy/romance/etc. My friend says that I won't watch anything unless the majority the cast dies, which I suppose is true. With that, [s]some[/s] all of my favorites: In the super-violent-and-everybody-is-going-to-die-or-lose-multiple-limbs category:

Kara no Kyoukai - Psychological/horror-esque/actiony stuff. It's split into 7 short movies (and one confusing epilogue), and likes to make the viewer super confused about everything until 5 minutes before it's over. It's also not shown in chronological order, so that helps with the madness. Probably my favorite main character of any series, mostly for her murderous apathy towards everything. Oh, and it's really pretty to look at and has awesome music.

Elfen Lied - Psychological/horror-esque/actiony stuff. I suppose this one is no surpise, considering it's where I stole my name from. As with the above, it's about a girl that kills everything. It has its faults (far more fanservicey than it needs to be, and it kinda forgets about the philosophical questions it raises), but it managed to make me more emotional than any other anime has managed to do, so there's that.
In the I-didn't-expect-to-like-this category:

Ergo Proxy - Psychological/horror-esque/cyberpunk stuff . It's a bit too long and is kinda slow at times, but is good nonetheless. I don't remember much about this show, I just know I liked it at some point and was fairly confused in the end. Oh, and Pino is cool.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Psycholocial/horror-esque/magical girl stuff. You have no idea how much I expected to hate this show. I mean, magical girl? Nobody 'cept Nick likes magical girl stuff. The internet just would not shut up about it, so my roommates and I watched it to see what all the fuss was about. Turned out to be really good ... it's the only anime that has ever made me wait in anticipation for the next episode (although to be fair, it's the only anime that I've watched and enjoyed while in season ... plus the whole 1-month delay thing didn't help). Thanks to Ashen for identifying what this show was (and relating it to Higurashi), 'twas a plesant surprise.
Uhh, so that's about it.
  11. Seeing as all my money is stolen anyway, I volunteer to judge this week.
  12. Hero? Also for what it's worth your Youtube thing yells at me and makes me go all the way to Youtube to listen...
  13. Dubstep and metalcore? This is going to be a fun topic. If you guys would provide links for all your posts I'd love you more. Finally listening to the new Between the Buried and Me EP, and it's amazing: Specular Reflection
  14.
Your Lance recolour
Yay I'm not the only one.
  15. 1. When updating you'll want to keep the following files:
scripts.js tiers.xml pokemon config
Just copy/move these files from the old server install location to the new server install location. The auth/passwords/player data is in the pokemon file, and the other files should be fairly self-explainatory. 2. Uhh, I got it from my package manager... you might be able to get it here, but it really won't be worth the trouble (now that I think about it, it would only get you the updated source, which you'd then have to compile and I doubt you have the libs needed for that, or a compiler for that matter). 3. It should, but I'm not positive. If you're determined to continue with git, then some updated instructions from PO itself:
* Learn how to use Git * Download all the files using Git (I lied about git pull, you need to use git clone git://pogeymon-online.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/pogeymon-online/pogeymon-online, in which case none of your auth/passwords/players would be saved...) * Install the Qt Framework on your computer, or at least the libraries * On windows Build src/Utilities/Utilities.pro and src/PokemonInfo/PokemonInfo.pro and thensrc/Teambuilder/Teambuilder.pro. To build those files, open them with Qt Creator and build the projects and run them. For the server it's src/Server/Server.pro
16. Seems complicated ... why not just add another row of pokemon/moves/whathaveyou to the form when league_clear is true? Edit: Oh wow ... I've a card attached to me ... strange.
  17. otherNick did this when he was still in college (so, 2 years ago?), for about 2 weeks. He kept a blog/log that he would write to much like you have. I think he was doing 6 phases of 30 minutes, but I don't remember. Ultimately it ended with him failing. From what little I've read, it's not supposed to be a long-term sleep schedule, but can be done for a month or two. I dunno, I'm sure you've looked far more into it than I have. Anyway, good luck~ Edit: Well, this post ended up sounding far too negative ... sorry, that was not my intention. Carry on.
  18.
Nyu got that working? Oh fuck yes.
And this time it's done properly with exact pixel coordinates and a proper database, so no more ugly giant config thing.
  19.
(16:52:36) +AmethystStorm: 'Tis sad. (16:52:42) +AmethystStorm: Now all that be left are the idles.
Self explainatory
(16:53:13) +AmethystStorm: As of the greystone.
Because idle people have a grey icon...
(16:54:24) +AmethystStorm: Eternally blended in a recompense of paused reality.
There is no activity among the idle people, as if the chat is on pause. Eternally blended means the idle people are more of a group and not characterized by individual members.
(16:55:28) +AmethystStorm: And henceforth bound to the colorless iconography of a status so set that never shall they return from the lurking so they have adapted to.
The little grey pokeball is a binding state of being; once you adapt to being idle and lurky you never come back.
(16:57:06) +AmethystStorm: So mote it be.
This can either refer to the chat being insignificant at this point, or referring to the idle people themselves, that they now have no significance because they are idle.
  20. The automod on the current scripts is worse than what it is in the real Reborn, so I dunno how realiable it is (as you've already seen) ... so sorry about that. I've plans to redo a lot of it and try to make it less ... bleh. But of course, that can't happen until the weekend.
  21. Here be they if you want: scripts.txt Gah, silly forum not letting me upload a .js file. Also in DOS format now, for all you crazy people that don't like \n-terminated lines: scripts_dos.txt
  22. No guarantee that this will make sense, but some thoughts: Good and bad are just labels which are rather subjective and determined a lot by social constructs. There was a lecture somewhere that mentioned something similar to the following:
Scenario 1: Say you were the conductor of a train that happened to go out of control. You see a group of 5 people on the tracks ahead, but you are unable to stop. You also notice that there is a turn-out which you are able to take, but on there is a single person on that track. So you can either take the side track and kill 1 person, or remain on your current course and kill 5. What do you do? Scenario 2: Same out of control train on a track about to kill 5 people. However, this time you're not the conductor and there is no side track. You are standing on a bridge over the tracks witnessing the entire thing. There is a guy standing next to you. You have the opportunity to push the guy onto the tracks; killing him but saving the five on the track. What do you do now?
(Ignoring the inprobability that pushing a guy in front of the train will stop anything; the idea is what counts) I think a large number of people would choose to take the side track in scenario 1 ... that's considered the good/right thing to do. However, in scenario 2 it's not quite as clear. I think it's easily argued that pushing the guy onto the track is considered bad... I mean, he's just a helpless bystander like yourself. But in either case, the outcome is the same: kill 1 or kill 5. So I don't really agree with saying that humans are either good or bad. I think actions are just what they are and that these actions can either be considered either good or bad depending on a number of different factors. However, I think I'd agree with saying that humans are inherently selfish. Also, said by a past roommate while playing Risk, as it's rather relevant:
Don't you know that when you're being nice to other people, you're being mean to me? *sob*
Now every time we play Risk, somebody mentions that. Yay found the lecture: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBdfcR-8hEY
  23. Just a bit of a heads up: I won't be able to host any Reborn server (backup or main) for the majority of Friday the 18th. That's the day I train home, and it's about a 9 hour journey altogether. The backup server that's currently running is being done from my laptop which I'ma need to take with me on that day. I suppose I could have it back up and running right around league time (my train is scheduled to arrive home at 9:40ish EST), but I imagine you'll all be assembled elsewhere by that time. Other than that, things should be relatively stable. I should be able to keep my laptop on throughout next week, assuming I don't do anything stupid... (don't let me update my kernel ... as tempting as it sounds it'll only cause problems). Also I've pretty much given up hope on getting the main server back alive before I get there; I called today and the problem is worse than before. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if I couldn't recover anything off the HDDs ... so lessoned learned: more backups!
  24. Crashed, burned, and offline'd again. Probably more harddrive failure. The good news is I'll be home in 2 weeks and will be able to give the server a bit more love and attention. Until then, unstable backup servers go!
  25. Odd that it's using your internel IP. Are you attempting to join the server through the Registry or using some fancy Advanced Connection? Also did all those messages happen from the same login attempt or was that multiple tries? I've heard people complain that they can't join their own server, I'm not sure why that is, but maybe something similar is happening to you?
