  7. Staff: 10 => Unlimited You mean to tell me Azery can do whatever he likes now? A big improvement in general. Well-done. Although, that would mean some changes for the nightclub ... in game. Or not? w/e
  8. Well Ame and Mumpelfink Marcello have been dealing with a lot of problems that the beta testers keep finding, so it's not like they had enough time to get inspired to make more memes. The game has enough references as it is.

Viri was playing a game at the time (using and battling grass types nonetheless). Others (I believe @Arkhi) were discussing whether a uni campus is cool judging by the number of redwood trees it had.

  11. When I became part of this community some years ago, I was treated to that joke, and I didn't really mind, since it was obvious. It will certainly turn away some younger members, but that is not necessary. One's opinion of a forum is not formed by one sarcastic comment (or many similar to each other). The vast majority of the community is nice (with the occasional exceptions), which lets newcomers feel at ease. Everyone is encouraged to ask, and everyone gets their answer. That said, I have made such jokes before, and I have mixed feelings about it, because I always help the perso

  14. We know gym leaders don't train pokemon of only one type, so I got an idea. I would like to have a post-game battle with Radomus, in which he has a multi-type team and all his pokemon are nicknamed after famous chess masters.

    1. Alistair

      Alistair

It would be fun in Radomus' specific case, especially since his strategy (Trick Room) doesn't rely on monotyping or a specific field to be effective.

But I'm thinking that most of Reborn's leaders would actually be less challenging if they used multi-type teams. They couldn't benefit well from field effects, most of which are designed to benefit a certain type(s), and in this game field effects are often a big part of why some leaders can be difficult to beat (looking at you, Corey, Serra, Charlotte).

Not to mention monotyping is an essential component of what makes leaders' charm. I couldn't imagine Shade using something other than Ghost types, Luna with something other than Dark types, or Charlotte with something other than Fire types.

So, if we had rematches with leaders who ditched their monos, and aren't using their own fields anymore, it would feel a bit as if... we weren't really facing them, more like another ordinary trainer who would happen to have a full team of strong mons.

Just my 2 cents of course =3

While true that their main power comes from their respective field effects, they could still follow a certain strategy by ditching their monos. As first seen in Hardcore mode and then in the double battles with Florinia/Julia, they can pull this off quite spectacularly. Fern and Cain should be seen as work-in-progress. Even if they are no longer monotype users, they started this way, and adjust their teams to the given fields.

In my opinion, with proper planning they can be even fiercer. For example, I wouldn't struggle that much against Noel, had it not been for his Clefable, which is a Fairy among Normal types.

We could do something similar with others. Radomus is the easiest one to put almost everywhere. Heck, if we were to battle him in some place like the Glitch world, he would be even stronger. I could see him use doubles with Steel types side-by-side with Psychic types.

Another example I had in mind was Ciel, whose Flying mono is very prone to SR damage and could use the help of some Ground types or even things like Magnezone to trap and stop the Bolt/Beam.

Having the chance to battle 2 or 3 teams of theirs in the post game seems exciting right now.

We only need to work a bit harder to make it still be a challenge for 100lvl pokemon.

    3. Alistair

      Alistair

In Radomus' case, Steel types and Glitch field wouldn't synergize well, but I catch your drift.

On another topic, Noel's Clefable has never ever been a threat to me. His real ace has always been Porygon-Z in my eyes, but maybe that's just me, and I can talk only for standard Reborn, not hardcore.

Maybe I have a bias against leader rematches because it has always seemed a bit pointless to me. We've already beaten the guys once, as part of the story, and they were doing their job as leaders, experts of a specific type. I'm happy with that.

But for players who want additional challenges during the post game, then sure, it's a good idea and I hope Ame and the team will come up with ideas to renew these characters' teams and strategies. Provided rematches is something they have in mind for the post game at all, of course.

  18. Yes. The second line refers to the added requirements to become Ace. The EXP was an attempt to imitate the rupee system on the new site. I didn't imply that they removed the Rupees in order to use the EXP one. Probably poor wording on my part.
  19. The old site had rupees, and you could buy the Ace Membership for 6000 of them, provided you were part of the community for 6 months. They became almost useless after the "Mess With Others" part of the site shop was removed, so too many people became Ace at the same time. Therefore they had to come up with a system that limits that. Then the EXP one happened resulting in no new Ace members.
  20. There are plenty of options to use post-Agate, so don't worry about getting a specific fossil. Reborn is made for us to explore different possibilities in pokemon teams. Experiment. By using the mechanics you cannot. By exploiting the save files you can. It depends on whether you'd like to play by the rules or not.
  21. I want a side-quest for clown Indra. In contrast to the Grand Hall trainers who appear as if they are travelers or old trainers of Reborn-city, Indra is the only one in the circus. He owns lots of pokemon, pretty well-trained, with good items to use, but just sits there to battle us. I am assuming he's supposed to have become strong by fighting with lots of trainers that pass through on their journey to victory (road).

Is he content with his position? Has he never wanted something more than a mundane job at a circus that was closed off of the city for quite a while? Didn't he ever want to be the very best like no-one ever was? Why did he take the time to grind up for his pokemon, not use them to climb to the top, but instead sorted them by colour? What is your backstory, clown Indra? Who are you? How did you end up in a place like this?

ps: btw the ringmaster is also a bit forgotten as a character...

  22. It would be nice if mid-game ZEL got themselves a Type:Null . After the events of E16 it even makes sense to evolve it, as it will constitute indirect character development.

Honestly, I'm glad I'm not the only one who secretly wants them to have one. Ice once said that if Eve weren't a monotype trainer, he'd have given her a Porygon. Synthetic Pokés are cool.

    2. NickCrash

      NickCrash

Porygon is also nice. They don't need to be restricted to Eeveelutions.

I trust Lumi is responsible for their pokemon choices.

    3. ZEL

      ZEL

Nope, each of them picked them for themselves. Out of character, what happened is simply that Ice based them around the idea of giving each of them an eevee. In-character, it's kind of a coincidence that Zero and the sisters both happened to have one. (Ice's personal headcanon is that Zero found eevee abandoned somewhere.)
He had several ideas for their full team; the one he seemed to have settled for (pre Gen V era) was Umbreon and Weavile for Zero, Espeon and Bronzong for Eve, and Glaceon and Mamoswine for Lumi. An alternate team also happened to include Azelf and Spiritomb.
