I guess its hard to narrow down when to focus on character vs story and usually helps to have additional eyes. My usual focus on character means the story isn't always as fleshed out and that hurts my writing a bit. I'm trying to write with fewer characters than I used to in order to have a better balance and I think its helping me focus on whats important when there isn't too many characters involved.

Ahhh the writing section. I used to frequent here but then real life called. I'm back because I have a question for both writers and readers out there. I've been working with a small film group for a while and my writing has been praised for good character growth, world building and dialogue that keeps everything faithful to what the viewer perceives from each moving part however my story is generally... pretty bad. I can't lie , it usually isn't my focus to make the story good. This stems from my belief that every story has been told but every character type has not lived in each story that exists. (I admit this may be a lazy excuse to forgo certain writing improvement) However I want to know as I try to work on story building which is the most important? Are you like me with the sentiment that if you care about the people on the journey that the journey itself doesn't matter or do you believe that a solid focus on both aspects make for a better story regardless. Or is the journey important as you impose yourself in the character's shoes? Or I'll let the title dictate the question. Story or character? WHO WON? YOU DECIDE! EPIC RAP-sorry I've had a few tonight. Story or characters and why if you'd be so kind.

Marshadow was hacked in. I'm doing a 4 mon run which should be titled "why would anyone want to lose two mons ever like an idiot starring me" I've had to break the rule several times because as you can guess 4 mons makes this game hard.

Skarmory (stealth rock/tailwind/healing mains) Blaziken sweeper, Marshadow, Aegislash and Kommo-o. I took out Shelly first then 2v1 Cain. For Luna I had skarmory stealth rock then just fight until it died so i could safely switch. For Rad dad and Serra It was mainly attacking Serra since clefable is not very offensive. I switched Aegislash back and had him tank luna in the end so I could revive my party before fighting the doubles. It took me a fair amount of time but I eventually did it.
p.s I thought the void section was great. I wont lie it did go on for a long time but this journey has been long so it felt justified... my heart weeps for when the game comes to an end.

So after taking the *rare candy* drug trip from Pulse-08 I'm left feeling nostalgic. Our whole adventure all wrapped up and coming to a close soon. Plus seeing the stories behind so many characters and the obvious family meetup that everyone and their grandmother called back in episode 11 was nice. Also great feeling knowing that 5 fucking gym leaders combined can't beat us. (literally still grinning from that 20 minutes later) What's everyone's thoughts on the hard as balls gauntlet of battles as well as the story up to this point.
P.s I have not entered the new city after fighting Pulse-08 and I'm trying to be as anti-spoilers just in case anyone wanders in here by accident.

Some characters like Cain change mons due to necessity. When he fought Radomos he decided poison types lose to psychics and he no longer had to lock to poison since he was never going back to the gym. Florinia is originally known as the desert rose so while away from her gym she can use a sandstorm team. Sigmund no longer operating within his home had to adapt to meteors enemies (mainly you) and an electric only team that was our first and easiest option doesn't work. Fern adopted a new strategy to fight you since he thinks miracles are real. Most characters that leave their motiff say something about it or there's dialogue that explains their change. At least from what I've seen.

neat... thanks

Alright. I beat the gauntlet of garchomp and I got medichamite... please tell me there is more to this cave.

I don't know if its new or not so there's the spoiler warning. Found a sugiline cave and I have no idea how to navigate... I'm honestly just looking for the oasis in the desert. Any advice on either?

One could say also allowing Taka to follow you around the desert lets him live his life fully until the end instead of letting him live in a lie. I think that's the difference between paths, also with Amy: You allow her to keep her lie (even though she seemed not to actually believe it) or force her to face reality. It could be said it's the Path of harsh truth vs the path of comfy lies, but also the path of tossing the consecuences to their faces vs the path of letting them come to terms with their actions at their own pace.
No I'm kidding of course. Making Taka and Amaria face the truth is undoubtedly the right thing. Regardless of how hard the outcome is.

Volcrona with quiver dance and giga drain will sweep the whole team after +4. Vulpix with drought and focus sash plus confuse ray will stall the first mon if lucky. Sun will weaken water moves and volcrona will hopefully last long enough to power up if confusion kept the first mon hitting itself enough

I believe they are referring to some rumor that if ya allow Taka to follow you in the desert he ends up dying rather if ya tell him no it plays out like ya battled him at the WTC
Let that be a lesson to you kids. Never do the right thing.

i told him no when he asked to battle like Tania wanted because even though Taka is my boy... she was right. Last time I battled him and everything went all hunky dory

The Water Surface field halves the speed of poekmon who are not water type or airbourne unless they have Swift Swim or Surge Surfer ability.

From a sympathetic character to absolute pain in my booty. This is my second run to this point in the game. I did a fire mono last time and swept her but this time I guess I said no to someone early game and she decided to lock me in a god damn tank and then challenge me going with my opposite choice. WTF I thought we were pals!
In all seriousness I don't care for the homocide attempt and NO Tania we are not "even" since this is your fault for not talking to her first. I'm doing this on a 4 mon run with Blaziken, Kommo-o, Aegislash and Marshadow. The squad has been doing well but now even though all her mons have like 30 less speed than mine even though I have EV training she outspeeds me. Even with mons that don't have swift swim. Am I high? Her gym is the worst. This version of her is making me angry and her mons are broken.
In all, in all seriousness. Her story is actually sad and I've seen this sadly in real life in the past though I'm calling shenanigans on this speed difference but then again I know virtually nothing about the item metagame. What is everyone else' thoughts on Amaria?

I...need to lie down.

That was not the answer I was hoping for. Can we please get a hard confirm... maybe Copperman is a common last name.
-
So I finally wrapped up Simon's little story and got Tara's missing id. Now upon handing it over we find out that he and Tara had the same last name. I'm HOPING that she was so cute and forward that she went and got her last name changed knowing a formal wedding wasn't practical or possible in Meteor buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut I've also seen the movie Old Boy and... well... can someone confirm that it isn't that scenario. If you haven't seen the movie... watch it.

Soooooo, we've all or at least many of us have reached that point in our life. The one where it seems life is handing out free "fuck yous" and you always seem to be first in line. You try and try but something seems to have it out for you and take the little glories to diminish your work, time and effort. I've been a film maker for roughly ten years and have plenty of shows, commercials, short films, etc under my belt but none of them have really paid the bills all too well and my day jobs are... lackluster at best. While this rant may seem to be the idling of a depressed person I'm far from it. Just tired. I can't say I need a pick me up as much as a direction. What do you do in this scenario. I've powered through tough situations all my life and my friend told me that this method isn't sustainable. I want to take a step back and look at what I have done and can do... My question to all who are reading this. Is how do you take steps in a direction when you don't even know where to face? I'm aware I'm doing something wrong and it stems from my inability to seek help from those in the know but lord help if I know who to ask at this point and yes I have started to ask, regardless of reluctance.
